Brand new thread ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh and a while back someone had mentioned a cape in Dorothy Perkins - I believe this is now in stock so that might make a nice over bump coat, I have a cheaper version from Asda but it is still quite short.

jollyjoanne · 24/10/2008 13:12

CS7 I have been feeling the baby do this a lot and occassionly it is quite forceful, making me feel a bit off balance and wobbily.

LaMonsterWeaselwolf · 24/10/2008 13:27

I love my winter coat but it is getting a bit tight around the belly. I think I will be wearing lots of layers and leaving it open because it took me so long to find one that fits I can't bear to part with it!

I have been given a silvercross travel system. I hate it. You need both hands and your leg to fold it up... how the hell am I supposed to get on a bus??

jollyjoanne · 24/10/2008 13:31

Yeah a friend of mine had a silver cross travel system, looked absolutely goregous but weighed a tonne, and if you pushed it round for more than 10 mins you needed a serious breather. I hate to think how much it would have weighed if you needed to pick it up and put it on the bus or go up and down stairs!

LaMonsterWeaselwolf · 24/10/2008 13:35

Well, exactly. I will probably keep it for the first six months in the forward facing position just for walks around town if it's heavy it'll be a good weight loss programme! But after that and if I find I need to travel a lot when I'm on Mat Leave (I probably will to be honest) I think I will be covertly buying a new pram.

Millie26 · 24/10/2008 13:44

Hi everyone, hope you are all well!

Just wanted to let you know 20 week scan went perfectly, yay! Have placenta at the front so that is probably way I havent really felt that much.

CS7 · 24/10/2008 15:02

Thanks Mandy73 and Jollyjoanne, I just worried a bit because everyone tells you to expect kicks etc, no one mentions the flip or whole body movements..

On the topic of travel systems, i'm thinking of getting a bugaboo but someone said there's a newer lighter version- bugaboo bea? (sp?)
Anyone know of this or used it? Is it better than bugaboo?

Wheelybug · 24/10/2008 16:20

HI all !

Congrats on the scan Millie and your little girl .

On the coat front - I have bought one from Jojo but its not very exciting - its their long fleece one. I got a size bigger than normal so at the mo I can wear it as it is and wehn I get even bigger there is a panel to zip into it. Its v. cosy and its quite long.

On the pram front - providing its stood up to storage in the shed I'll be getting my M&P pramette out for when the baby is small so I can use the pram mode. I am also probably getting my brothers old out and about nipper with the idea of starting running again with buggy. I may well buy a new one but will wait and see once the baby is born I think.

I am 20 weeks today which feels quite an achievement !! Two weeks to wait until my scan though....

MKGisHavingaGirl · 24/10/2008 17:43

Congrats on the scan and the little girl Millie!!!

I am jealous of all this "pram" talk. I wish I could get a new one, but I'll use the one I have.

I can't believe how expense yours are over there though.

Slickbird · 24/10/2008 20:01

Jolly - She did have the cream for the impetigo, but it wasn't enough which is why she got the anti-bs. I think if the cream will do it then the doctors would rather that first. (Me too)

Lollipopz- Ooof, no wonder you were worried about the op. Hope he's ok now. And you. xx

Milli Ahhh, what great news! How exciting! And it was the placenta all the time blocking all the kickboxing! I love having girls. So many lovely clothes to dress them in....! Mind, that's not the only reason!

Well it really has been quite a week, first finding out that we are having a boy and that everything looked fine, then we aquired a new (old) estate to fit our growing family in, for such a good price I won't even say, then I managed to get rid of my other car, ten minutes ago but even better than that, my best friend who I have known since I was 7, was pregnant last year when I was pregnant with DD2. Pure chance. Now I'm pregnant again and she has just told me today she is 15 weeks pregnant! While this is her second, I didn't think we would be pregnant together again cos I wasn't planning my third one! So it's just fantastic news!! Am just so pleased for her. Sigh.

lollipopz · 24/10/2008 21:45

Hey just popped on to say all went well with ds today he was really brave and is now home tucked up safely in bed! Speak soon xx

Littlemisskiwi · 25/10/2008 04:27

Hello ladies

I haven't been on for about a week. So pleased that everyone seems to be doing well and finding out about DC sex.

Our scan is next week and we're still umming and ahing about finding out (more me to be honest, DH would prefer not to know)

We haven't done any shopping yet. Went into a baby store today but very quickly became overwhelmed and bored. Hadn't thought about January sales - what a great excuse for leaving it a bit longer...

I'm still pretty exhausted most of the time, still feel nauseous and still vomit on occasion too. I get waves of feeling quite light headed and out of it too! Sometime I don't know if I'm hungry, full, about to be sick, if its my stomach grumbling, trapped wind, bowel movements or the baby! Its all very strange and not really how I imagined it would be - naive first timer!

Has anyone experienced strange stretching pains at the top of the uterus? I'm getting pains across my belly around the belly button so assume its the uterus. Any ideas?

Thanks all

meep · 25/10/2008 09:59

Morning everyone - good news here - got the full results back from my amnio and the bean is fine - all it's chromosones have been checked. I am so happy!

CS7 I have a Bugaboo Chameleon for dd and I still love it. We used the carrycot instead of a moses basket because it was black and dark and she slept really well in it. There is a Bugaboo Bee now - I saw a baby in one the other day and it looked really cosy - I think it folds flatter than the Chameleon and is definitely smaller.

But I am going to sell my Chameleon (anyone know anyone in Scotland who wants to buy one?!) - and if I get enough for it buy a Phil & Teds - dd has only just taken her first couple of very shaky steps and I don't think she'll be ready for a buggy board any time soon!

lollipopz - hugs to your ds - poor wee thing.

slick the dreaded impetigo went round our nursery recently but we managed to miss it - phew!

meep · 25/10/2008 10:01

kiwi - meant to say that yes I do get stretching pains - mine are to the right hand side of the bump. My MW said that my uterus was almost at my bellybutton so I reckon that is what you are having. Sorry you're still feeling so rubbish - that must be tough.

lolianja · 25/10/2008 11:13

Bump (which thus far had been a flat, invisible non-bump) has finally popped out a little. Seemed to happen overnight, on Wednesday my stomach was virtually concave. It's not large and I haven't put on any weight elsewhere, but I think it looks very feasible (even if not blindingly obvious) that I'm pregnant now. About bloody time as well, I'm 22 weeks the day after tomorrow!

Kicks are getting stronger and stronger, have been bordering on uncomfortable for over a fortnight now. God knows what they'll be like when I reach full term.

Still positive it's a girl, although we looked away when the scan fella headed downstairs (20 weeks scan went well by the way, baby is healthy and bizarrely - considering flat belly at the time - quite big). Anna still the favourite name, although we've been warming to Diana again too recently. Boy longlist is still the cause of much debate and still about 20 names long.

Slickbird · 25/10/2008 12:01

Meep! Delighted to hear all is well, must be such a relief for you! Hopefully you can really relax now and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

Lolianja Could it be that you are quite tall? I'm just under 5ft 9in and with my first I hid it very well and I was told that if you are tall it has more room in the torso to hide in as it were. Does that make sense. I can't say the same thing has happened third time round tho....

MKGisHavingaGirl · 25/10/2008 13:05

Hooray Meep! You must feel so happy and relieved.

corgikelly · 25/10/2008 16:13

meep, what fabulous news! The weekend is off to a flying start!

We've narrowed our nursery choices down to two. One is a two-minute walk from our front door, and the other is more like 20-25 minutes. I think I have a slight preference for the one further away, but proximity is awfully nice...what I might do is take a slot at the one close to us now (i.e. for September) and take an option at the other for a few months later. That way, if I really don't like how Cletus is doing at the first, I'll already have an option lined up to move him to.

"Him"...I am SO jealous of everyone getting their scans! Nov. 18 seems months away...

@ Slickbird - yeah, I'm tall! 5'9". So it does make sense, but it's still a bizarre thing to get used to psychologically. A big ol' baby tucked inside a flat tummy! On the plus side - no stretch marks so far so with luck I can resume my modelling a lot sooner.

Hope everyone and their little ones are healthy. It's great fun reading about all the sexes of the Mumsnet babies, even if I opted out of finding out myself.
