Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
livismum · 16/10/2008 14:17

oh yaeh meant to ask anyone getting pevis pain, its in my left hip/groin area and makes walking really uncomfortable, my leg gives out completly sometimes, remember similar sciatica type sympoms late on in last pg but nothing this early!

Any advice much appreciated xx

Wheelybug · 16/10/2008 16:06

Hello all !

Welcome Tita !

Livismum - I get a lot of sciatica type pain on and off. Had it last time too.

Kat - my scan is on 7 Nov, when I will be 22 weeks too. We can't decide whether to find out the sex either.

I managed antenatal yoga today - was pleasantly surprised that itwasn't too dul . Am going to carry on in the hope it helps the aches and pains and then makes the baby pop out ! Of course, if I find out they are going to make me have an c-sec again I may as well give up the classes and spend the £12 a week on chocolate instead .

Slickbird · 16/10/2008 16:07

Corgi that's hillarious! And Amy and MKG. I've been having moments like that too, but I seem to make a point of forgetting all of mine!

DD2 has taken to standing by herself in the last few days, this may not sound like much but I'm hoping the first steps will not be far off as I have well and truely put my back out lifting her whilst preggars so the sooner she's walking the better! Not that the lifting days will be over but it will all help.

I am off next week with the school holidays and I am so pleased about it I could cry! I'm just so exhausted and my body aches!!!

Although I think it will be a week full of DIY! I heard that someone at work (someone that earns wayyy more than I do) was spending 3 weeks in the Maldives as we speak. I tried my hardest not to turn Oh well, maybe one day when the kids are all grown up......

Wheelybug · 16/10/2008 16:09

Slickbird - my parents are in the maldives at the moment and apparently its raining - if that makes you feel better .

lizziemun · 16/10/2008 17:12

Slickbird, I know what you mean dd2 (13mths) has been walking since she was 9mths.

I have been teaching her to go up and down the stairs so i don't have to keep lifting the great lump . It is so much easier on my back.

grinningbee · 16/10/2008 18:03

Hi all!

The pregnancy brain episodes have been making me laugh. I'm finding I'm incredibly tearful at anything remotely sad or connected to babies... blinkin hormones!

Speaking of sciatica type pains - I've been getting a weird pain... don't laugh... in my right bum cheek. I guess it's just one of those things. Joy!

17 weeks today (hurrah!) and very jealous of all those having their scans now. Mine is on the 17th November, and I'll be finding out the flavour. I think it's a boy and DH thinks it's a girl.

Oh yes, and I'm not 100% sure, but I think I felt the first movement yesterday

Hugs to all.

xJulesx · 16/10/2008 20:57

grinningbee, I'll be one day behind you for my next scan and am hovering between worry that they'll find something wrong and excitement that we'll finally (hopefully!) find out the sex. I'm figuring that as we've got a girl's name chosen but are completely clueless for a boy's name -- it will be a boy.

AND like you, I really think I felt Cletus move for the first time at 1am today! I'm at 17+3 and we'd just come back from a dinner with friends. I got into bed, lay down and was STUNNED to feel exactly what I'd been told it might feel like -- a series of bubbles popping across my lower belly. I was completely taken aback and got rather sentimental about the whole thing. Relieved to know that it's NOT inevitable I'll mistake Cletus for a case of indigestion, but concerned already that his "up" periods are during the wee hours of the night!

Boobz · 17/10/2008 10:29

Still don't think I've felt it here. And not going to find out the sex as we want to be surprised. So nothing interesting happening here at all really.

Have put on 5kg since falling pregnant. Is that normal (first baby)?

x

Good afternoon ladies!!!! A quick update...had my scan this morning...all is going well, everything measured okay and baby is growing nicely!! Oh yes and its a boy!! I knew it! Soooo happy...I love little baby boy clothes!

babyinbelly · 17/10/2008 12:29

Congrats Emma and to everyone else who has found out what they're having and know they're healthy.

Had my scan yesterday but DID NOT FIND OUT! Much to my mother horror. She wanted to know. Didn't want to find out with out DP and he didn't want to know anyway.

Baby was sat in a very odd position. On leg out stretched and the other above its head apparently? Placenta is at the front, hence why I haven't felt a great deal of movement. Felt a bit but not very often and not every day.

LaMonsterWeaselwolf · 17/10/2008 12:34

maybe that is why you're not feeling anything much boobz? If that placenta is in an unusual place.

Went to midwife yesterday, all is okay and listened to heartbeat again, but it took her much longer to find it than it did at different hospital at 15 weeks so I think my theory about all this newly emerging fat getting in the way is true. However, I don't really mind!! I know Jr is in there and if I can't feel him much now I'm sure I will later on.

Find out flavour on Thursday. Very excited!!

jollyjoanne · 17/10/2008 13:10

Yeah I am 19+5 and still can't feel very much movement wise, although I can feel the weight of the baby if she moves around. And my scan earlier this week also confirmed that the placenta is at the front. Not sure what difference this makes except it is currently cushioning me from most of the kicks and punches.

emma2617 · 17/10/2008 13:30

I didn't get told where my placenta was!! Baby was all curled up in a ball so sonographer got me to lay on my side for a bit while she had a look and then move back...but baby was still in a ball!! Then my back went...excruciating! I yelped and lept almost off the bed...sonographer said...ooh thats it, babys in the right position now, just stay like that! I could have cried...my back was killing!!

I am just so happy that all is well, and bambino was waving at me!! It has a big fat belly..hehe!

I cant wait to go baby shopping....gonna buy a couple of boy things but everything else I like is pretty unisex!

It is all so real now!!!!

BIB glad your scan went well...can't beleive your will power...I dont think I would have been able to not find out!!

Mandy73 · 17/10/2008 14:17

Hi all,

So happy scans are going well. Emma, a little boy, that's brilliant!

I started wearing PG pants & tights this week - bliss! Should have started earlier. Also plenty of flutters, definitely increasing in strength .
Can't wait for my next scan on Nov 3.

Have a good w/e everyone. xx

Wheelybug · 17/10/2008 17:28

Hi All
Pain in right bum cheek too(why is it right with everyone ??)

Congrats on good scans everyone - am definitely thinking we'll find out sex but have three weeks to change my mind and back again many times.

Urgh at the headlice Bab - dd's nursery is riddled with it at the moment. I can't see anything obvious but htink I am going to brave going through it with a nit comb this weekend to make sure.

meep · 18/10/2008 10:05

OMG if my dd gets lice it will be sooooooooooo obvious (due to lack of hair) - eurgh!

I have a sore right hip/bum! In my fitter days a sore bum cheek meant you'd pulled your right hamstring - though not sure wquite how we could all have done that unless you're all out secretly jogging round the block !

I think mine is due to carrying dd on my left which is probably putting strain onto my right hip.

i was reading the thread and thinking "I can't feel the bean" when I suddenly felt a ripple vibration accross my lower tum - hooray! Good morning bean!

My placenta was at the front with dd and I only felt a movement at around 20/21 weeks. Don't think it makes much difference apart from that.

I thought I was having a boy last time - i even told them they were wrong when they hauled dd out and said she was a girl - so i am obviously not very good with my predictions!

Off to work now - which is making me feel that I really should go back full time instead of having to use a precious weekend day to go in - at least if i was full time I'd get paid for it!

Slickbird · 18/10/2008 13:02

Hi all, glad to hear the good news about scans and flavours!

Wheely - No, I wouldn't wish a rainy holiday on anyone especially if they've paid all that money to go somewhere hot and special - well, for your parents anyway! We've had so many wet holidays ourselves we don't know any other way!!

Lizzie I can't believe your wee one has been walking since 9 months! That's great! My wee one only started crawling at 9 months, bless her!

Babbintot - I'm a bit embarrassed as to why I think it's a boy. I actually think it's a girl, but, well, I've done the old gold ring and chain thing for years and it's never been wrong! It's always said two girls and a boy for me and when I've done it on my friends and their friends it's always been right as well. The weird thing is I don't know how or why it works, I just do it and it does. I don't think it's coming from me. I can't explain it and it all sounds mumbo jumbo, but like I say, so far it's never been wrong. So off the back of that, this one should be a boy! I guess I'll find out on Monday eve!

Slickbird · 18/10/2008 22:29

Well Babbintot I went on the website you suggested and the weird thing is, it is still predicting, 2 girls and a boy (like the ring) but not the in the right order! I remember checking this last year and I was meant to be having a boy according to the chart - and I actually strongly thought it would be a boy, had a name and everything, and then....I got a girl!

And now with this one it is predicting a girl! How odd I will let you know on Monday evening! (I just hope everything else is ok...)

Littlemisskiwi · 19/10/2008 07:51

Hi all

I've got my 20 week scan on 27 October and DH is really keen on a surprise come labour day so we won't be finding out flavour, although my acupuncturist said he could be 70% sure by taking my pulses, what flavour the baby is... it is very tempting but I know I'd end up spoiling it for DH.

Boobz- I put on 6kg by week 12 of pregnancy despite constant vomiting but haven't really put on any more since then, so don't worry about the 5kg. I'm quite pleased my weight gain has slowed down otherwise I'd be the size of a small dwelling buy due date.

have a good week everyone.

Very relaxing weekend here - lie in(ish), dog walk, breakfast, last night's Strictly on Sky Plus followed by the Sunday papers whilst DH watches rugby. We were planning to go to the Baby Show at Earl's Court but couldn't face it in the end. Think I am about to have a nap (if I can move the lump of a dog hogging the sofa) and then afternoon sex before heading out to the theatre for a friend's birthday outing tonight.

perfect sunday.
