Brand new thread ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MKG · 05/10/2008 14:20

I bought one thing that was $2.99 for the baby, but working for osh kosh I have access to lots of product and a nice discount so I have a huge container full of clothes just in case I need it. It's mainly girl clothes though, so we'll see. Most of my clothes for the 0-3 month range is gender neutral so even if I don't find out until the birth we'll still have plenty of clothes ready for him/her.

I'm starting my calendar countdown today. I did it with ds2 (as I was completely unprepared for ds1) and it was nice. One week I installed the car seat, the next I washed the clothes, the next I set up the cradle. I need to sit down and make my list today. I have my yarn already, so the first thing will be to start knitting the baby's blanket. A skill I'm still learning, but I did manage to do one for ds2.

Mandy73 · 05/10/2008 15:48

meep hang in there. I'm squeezing your hand.
Thanks for explaining I had to make my profile public (doh) - can you see my shock bump now?

Hope everyone had a nice w/e. xx

meep · 05/10/2008 16:01

just been on your other thread and spied the bump! Very impressive! Hang in there bump!

thank you for squeezing my hand

MKG · 05/10/2008 17:19

Oh my goodness Mandy, That happened overnight!

Mandy73 · 05/10/2008 17:57

MKG it really did. Was in normal jeans the day before, feeling rather trim actually (probably burnt off loads of energy due to stress/worry lately).
So watch out all you flat tummies! xx

Mandy73 · 05/10/2008 18:00

PS: also got purple stretch marks on my hips over night but honestly I couldn't give a monkeys - never been Elle Mcphearson or anything.

Wheelybug · 05/10/2008 19:20

Great bump Mandy . I am sporting a humoungous bump I really am. I'm not really sure what's happened.... I put on one of my dd maternity tops on friday and IT WAS TOO SMALL already. So I've had to dig out the large ones and there's not loads of room in them. Yikes. Am kind of hoping it means I have a normal sized baby in there but a few weeks before we find out the progress so far.

Meep - still thinking of you. Almost there (although guess it doesn't feel like it and that anyway brings with it all sorts of feelings I should imagine).

Haven't done any shopping yet (I Love OshKosh MKG - we used to be able to get them fairly easily in Boots but think they've stopped carrying the range). Been doing some research but everytime I think of things I'm going to buy this time round someone offers it to me for free which I really shouldn't complain about... so I won't . Am starting to research slings - I didn't really use one with dd as she was so tiny to begin with but thinking it would be useful this time round - any second or more timers with any advice ? Might post a separate thread.

MKG · 05/10/2008 19:34

With regards to slings. I really didn't use it much with ds2. I didn't bother with ds1, and with ds2 I used it once at an outing to the zoo. That was it. Of course my children have issues with confinement. They need to be in everyone's business even at 3 months old they had to see and hear everything. I'll get it out for this baby, but I don't think I'll use it much. But who knows.

MKG · 05/10/2008 19:35

Mandy I love my stretch marks. I wear them like a badge of honor and will show them to everyone. I figure that it's my way of showing what my body has been through.

Wheelybug · 05/10/2008 19:35

THanks MKG - DD had confinement issues although this is partly why I'm thinking of a sling this time. I've got used to not using a buggy as dd was out of hers a year ago and think it'll be easier just to swing the baby over my shoulders and go (realises I'm out of touch with the whole 'getting out with a newborn' thing... 4 years is a loooonnng time [wink').

MKG · 05/10/2008 19:58

Oh but think how nice it is to go shopping with your stroller and having a place to put your bags. I see women coming in all the time with their babies in their slings/baby bjorn carrier and they leave with bags in their hands, barely holding on to their purse, and with a baby in the balance. I look at them and think "fool for not using a stroller".

Oh yes, I go to work and pass judgement on all the parents that come in with their children. It's like a sport with us.

I will probably use mine forever as I love it.

SunshineSmith · 05/10/2008 22:29

Hiya,

I also have a proper bump and some friends have already commented how big it looks... I think that sometimes depends on the way clothes are cut. I am on full on maternity wear which feels a bit baggy.

Anyhow, Hope you all have a good week!

Meep- hope all goes well on Wednesday!

lizziemun · 06/10/2008 08:36

I have a massive bump, mind you that could be because i didn't lose the weight from dd2 last year or maybe beacuse i am only 5ft 1in. I will be eating only lettuce leaves have march as i will not be fat and 40 next oct.

As for slings i keep thinking about getting one but as i only seem to have 9lb plus babies will i be able to use it as i also have back probelms.

emma2617 · 06/10/2008 08:49

mandy That bump is massive!!!!! I cant believe that popped overnight!! I woke up this morning and lifted the duvet to see if i too had popped...no such luck I have a feeling this could now turn into a morning ritual...haha!! PS you look really well...pregnancy must agree with you!! I look rought as nuts!

I want to get a sling too!! Only because I get quite annoyed at people dordling about with great big prams at the weekends...dont want to be a hypocrite!

Only 11 days until I find out what flavour bambino is!!! When I went for my 12 weeks scan I just assumed I would have a massive bump by the time 20 weeks scan came round...oh how little I knew!!!!

Hope everybody is well this fine...yet quite chilly...monday morning!!

babyinbelly · 06/10/2008 09:57

I have brought a hug a bub off ebay for this DC. Didn't use a sling with DS as I didn't think that they supported his head enough but the hug-a-bub seems to be great. Wont know till it gets here tho. I have DC age 2 in it and it is really comfy but got really out of breath walking upstairs with him! Wont be doing that again in a hurry!

Mandy73 · 06/10/2008 10:17

Word of warning for the more 'hippy-ish' slings that only go over one shoulder - my friend said it got quite painful.
Hope everyone has a good day. xx

lizziemun · 06/10/2008 10:28

Emma, I bet i look worse. DD2 (Lexie 1yr) has a bad cold and only slept for 4 hours last night as she couldn't breath and DD1 (Lizzie 4.8yrs) has this morning come out with chicken pox . So no sleep/rest for me this week.

Millie26 · 06/10/2008 12:25

Hello! Only just realised that these antenatal threads existed! doh...

Please can I join? I'm due on 16th March(ish). My dating scan said 13 weeks but from charting and early scans that seems a week ahead.

It's my first and it would be lovely to be ona supportive thread for the next few months, am such a worry monkey

emma2617 · 06/10/2008 13:32

Afternoon!!! After wolfing my lunch down in record time, I though I would update the list to try and stop me eating more as I am still hungry!!!

Have added the 3 newbies...Sara333, Mrs EJO and Millie26!

Please can someone tell me I am not the only one with the attention span of a gnat?!?! I feel utterly useless at work today...have near enough done nothing!!!

Afternoon all, great bump Mandy

Sling users, can I take this opportunity to slag off criticize the Premaxx baby bag so called sling thing. It is the most uncomfortable sling I ever used! I liked my huggababy when DS was tiny, and loved loved loved my Ergo from the time he was about 4 months old. That said, I agree with MKG up to a point - something gets carried, something gets wheeled. I go for carrying baby and wheeling shopping, but carrying everything is a nightmare if, like me, you take all but the kitchen sink with you every time you leave the house!

Hope you are all well. I am still huge, still knackered. Can the midwife tell if I'm anaemic? I am a bit worried, what with the exhaustion and with being a veggie (who would happily live on a diet of refined carbs given half the chance...)

babyinbelly · 06/10/2008 13:55

Lizziemun - Thank you so much for suggesting these

They are great, sooooo comfy and smart. The best thing is I ordered them yesterday and got them this morning. Hows that for service!

lizziemun · 06/10/2008 14:36

Babyinbelly I'm glad you like them, I do find anything that comes over the bump much more comfortable.

dinny · 06/10/2008 14:47
