Mandy! Fantastic news! In my pregnant, hormonal state, it has made me shed a tear or two with happiness for you! Your relief must be immense. Happy days! Now we all have to keep everything crossed for Meep and then we can all be happy bunnies!

EllieorOllie · 01/10/2008 21:40

That's brilliant news Mandy. I am so pleased for you.

Best of luck, Meep, hope you get good news too.

Thanks for all your messages about my weight loss/ms/bronchitis issue. I gave into the anitbiotics in the end, and am now signed off work for the rest of the week, so am intending to concentrate on feeding myself up and getting better. I've been prescribed some vitamin fortified stuff too, like wheelybug said. So hopefully will be on the mend and might gain a few pounds before my 16 week check!

Hopefully everyone else is feeling better!

becko · 01/10/2008 21:44

Great news Mandy - must have been such a worry. Hope everyone is feeling better from various colds and headaches and thanks for the info about where to go for maternity clothes. I am just looking fat so will be off to buy some bigger work trousers at the weekend rather than anything specifically maternity yet.

Told my parents at the weekend who were (as expected) totally over excited about a prospective number one grandchild. Hope other peoples parents are coming round to the idea too.....

lollipopz · 02/10/2008 10:56

Hi all eventually got our scanesterday and saw ng little bouncy bean! Amazing to see every thing is fine and fab after such a long waiit, have moved my due date back by 11 days though so now due on march 28th if any one could update the list for me that would be brill as I am terrible at these things!
Great news mandy, and still thinking of u meep xx xx

CaptainKarvol · 02/10/2008 13:35

Mandy, I've just posted on your other thread - really happy for you!

Anyone else huge and round yet? I have a ginormous bump (16 weeks) and can feel proto-sprog shuffling around in there. I'm well into maternity clothes now, very of the fab tummy muscles of all you folk still holding it in!

I finally found some decent maternity wear in H&M, so I have a choice of things to wear. Debenhams, Next and M&S locally don't stock maternity so I was very grateful to H&M

Anyone else having serious stretching pains? I got up from the sofa last night and collapsed to my knees straight away as the pulling in my tummy was so sharp.

emma2617 · 02/10/2008 13:44

Captain I am having a lot of strectching pains...keep being told it means baby is due for a growth spurt...but I am still not showing at 17+5!!

I have also been advised by doctor - over the phone - that I may be having braxton hicks and if i am i can look forward to them getting worse as pregnancy progresses!! Fab!!

Slickbird · 02/10/2008 14:13

Becko - How nice that your parents are so excited! I think the first grandchild is truely pretty special! (But don't tell the rest of the kids that...

emma2617 · 02/10/2008 14:27

Well...I think I may have finally got my referral sent through to the new hospital after moving!! Have just gotten of the phone with the 3rd midwife in the area so far and she said she could see no record of a referral and that she would do it now, asked me all the questions etc...so fingers crossed!

rubyring · 02/10/2008 18:03

i am bloody enormous too, captainkarvol. This is my third child i swear I look about6 months preggers already! Recycling most of my old maternity stuff so far but no doubt will be off down h&m soon!

HopingCat · 02/10/2008 21:06

The H&M near me has stopped doing maternity wear so I'm not impressed. Got quite a bit from there last time. I'm trying not to start wearing my maternity things yet, as I got so sick of wearing the same few outfits all the time last time. Not going to be able to do this much longer though as non maternity tops are starting to reveal bare skin - not attractive and a bit chilly too!

So glad everything's Ok with you and the bump, Mandy!
Captain, I've not got a huge bump yet, but I can't wear my normal trousers any more- got my first pair of maternity jeans at the weekend! Got them in Next at Lakeside, they had quite a good selection of maternity clothes, and it wasn't all black, white or grey! I definitely look pregnant now, which is very exciting. Think I can feel movement too, seems to be mostly in late afternoon. I think it's the baby's way of telling me that it's nearly time to go home from work. Still getting stretching pains, but I'm enjoying them in a weird way as it means my body and the baby are doing what they should be doing.
How are people coming along with picking names? Are we being super organised by deciding on ours already?

Boobz · 03/10/2008 08:59

Am back! Have been away for 2 weeks on my hols and now have so much to catch up on... what happened whilst I was away? I gather Mandy, your test results were good?

Have a bump but still don't look pregnant, just a bit podgy. Going to buy maternity bras today as have finally given in to the fact my boobs are 2 cups bigger and need more room than I am currently giving them!

Hope everyone is well! I am well rested and looking forward to catching up on everyone's news...

x

Morning ladies. The woman in Starbucks asked if I was pregnant this morning and when I said I was - she said the caffiene was "bad for my baby" . Anyone else not feeling guilty for NOT giving up caffiene?!

mandy great news flower..... relieved for you! Meep hoping your results are as good.
Boobz welcome back - should take you all morning to read the threads!

Auntyspan

No i don't feel guilty about still drinking tea i would never get through the day without tea.

emma2617 · 03/10/2008 10:13

Auntyspan Although I dont drink coffee and tea very infrequently, I couldnt give up coke!!! I have reduced how much I drink but I couldn't give it up completely!! Don't feel guilty!!

laweaselmys · 03/10/2008 10:29

I have started drinking tea since I got pregnant so no, I really don't! But next time they glare at you point out that 3 cups a day are perfectly safe under NHS guidelines.

(This is my guilt talking. I always used to find it a bit odd serving pregnant people coffee. But I would never have said anything, tis really rude over something so small!!)

People have started to notice my bump which is quite nice, but I'm finding my maternity jeans really irritating. The elastic means they just fall down all the time, and I get a massive builders bum when I sit down!

Hedge

I drink far more then 6 cups of tea in a day, but then i don't drink juices or fizzy drinks.

Laweaselmys, if you can get over then bump jeans/trouser i find they are far more comfortable as they don't fall down.

Although i'm lucky as i a sahm so i have just bought these.

MKG · 03/10/2008 12:27

Hey all. I rarely drink coffee anyway, but lately work has been crazy, and I've been indulging a little. I figure watch portions and all will be fine.

I've been on a scrambled egg kick lately. Lucky it's a breakfast the kids like, so they don't mind, but I just love it.

Oh and when standing near do not stand down wind, because my farts could kill someone .

Slickbird · 03/10/2008 15:35

My weekend cold is kicking in as usual and I had to leave work early to pick up my DD2 as she has sickness and a runny bum, but actually seems not too bad right now. She's munching on dry toast so hopefully it will stay down.

I read a really good item on caffeine in pregnancy and I'm trying to remember where it was. If I find it I'll let you know but I think Hedge is right as long as it's not more than 6 cups of coffee a day you'll be fine. Tea has way less caffeine in it anyway so you are unlikely to OD on that! (Thank God for me!) Odd, actually that I went off tea in my last two pregnancies but not this one. Wonder if it's a boy.....

auntyspan · 03/10/2008 16:29

6 cups a day?! I' be scraping myself off the ceiling.... I do know the lady quite well as I see her everyday so I'm putting it down to concern rather than her having a dig...

laweaselmys I had those too and had to ditch them cos they were so irritating. I got a pair of jeans where the elastic goes right up to my bra line (room for growth then and they are sooooooooooooo comfy

emma I saw on a website that you could drink up to 8 cans of coke per day and still be within the 300mg of allowed caffiene.... 8 cans! LOL

MKG yes I know what you mean, I've been eating loads of beans recently and last night my tap dancing teacher started going round opening all the windows ....
