Brand new thread ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
emma2617 · 30/09/2008 15:04

meep glad you got a bit of good news...lets hope that was just the start!!

I think because I have gotten of pretty luck pregnancy symptom wise...having crap midwife service is the price!! But the last few months I have been spoiling for a fight (when pg brain doesnt make me forget what I wanted to fight about!!!), with whoever wants a go...so as soon as I get to speak to someone I just know Im going to let rip!! Cant wait!

Slickbird · 30/09/2008 15:35

Afternoon ladies! Well I'm much better and brighter today - I actually managed to get a night's sleep and my God what a difference! I can't remember the last time I slept through the night for one reason or another, so this is what it must be like to be normal! Sickness is only mildly lurking and def seems to be getting better.

Emma, I'm sorry you have crap midwives - where do you live? I've always been pretty lucky with mine I have to say (different regions!!) it's the health visitors that have always been hit and miss. Although my current one is good.

Meep - Glad it sounds like just a regular UTI - if you know what I mean. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you. Am sending you lots of positive vibes.

titchy77 · 30/09/2008 15:45

I am so of those that can feel their babies moving, I'm 15 weeks and haven't felt a thing so far, I'm sure I felt my dd before this so am worrying slightly.
I also have dreadful skin, it looks awful, I look like a teenager again and just when I think they are going a new batch pop up! , also having headaches and other aches around my body and feeling tired all the time...when are we going to bloom!!!!
Thinking of you meep and mandy

emma2617 · 30/09/2008 16:02

Slickbird I live in in Hyde (near manchester), the service I briefly received in Stockport before I moved was far superior!

Wheelybug · 30/09/2008 16:15

Meep - sorry you're having more issues but glad its not as bad as first thought.

Mandy - if you're lurking - hope you're resting and that your results come soon (and obv that they are ok).

emma - My NHS antenatal classes weren't much good to be honest. We spent most of the time watching the video of the maternity suite which they seemed to put on whenever they couldn't think of anything to say. I did make 2 very good friends though so for this reason alone its good to push for them.

I signed up for some pregnancy yoga classes at the weekend and got a confirmation letter that I can start on thursday. Wasn't expecting it so soon so think I will delay it a couple of weeks. The lady is into active birth and runs antenatal classes too so if it looks like I am going to able to at least attempt a VBAC I am going to go along to her class.

I'm thinking about a doula if I get to have a VBAC - anyone else considering this ? With dd I had a series of midwives over the time and each one told me I could do different things so it would good to have someone who knows their stuff and can stand up for me. ON the other hand, not sure I want someone else in there with me and DH (but then given there were about 20 people in the room when I finally had dd I'm not sure this matters ). Decisions, decisions.....

Slickbird · 30/09/2008 16:38

Titchy - I really really wouldn't worry about not feeling anything yet, still very early - most people it's not til after 18 weeks. A pal of mine who is a midwife didn't feel anything til 21 - 23 weeks!

MKG · 30/09/2008 17:05

Hi all, Well my family now knows, and my mom didn't re-act well at all. She was all like, "How could you let this happen" "I'm going to China, and you're having another baby"

I simply explained that my having another baby wasn't going to affect her at all, and that in the long run, wasn't going to change all that much for us either. Oh well.

I feel great, but am otherwise having a shitty day.

SpookyMadMummy · 30/09/2008 17:52

MKG

Your body, your life, your decision to have a baby. Don't let her take the shine off it.

Tomorrow will be better

jollyjoanne · 30/09/2008 18:09

Ah yes, there is one problem in my pregnancy too - and its family related - may be this will be the previously mentioned punishment for not feeling crappy now.

My sister is due to get married 1 week after my current EDD - who can see where this is going. My sister has made me promise to have the baby either before or after the big day and to keep my legs tightly crossed during her special day. Not quite the same as family in China or not appreciating the wedding - but I can see I wouldn't be the favourite sister or daughter if I go into labour during the ceremony! (May be on here nearer the time looking for posh dresses for people the size of a house)

I do have crappy skin too, which goes from dry to ridiculously greasy practially instantaneously so I never know what to do with it.

But back to the good bits, i got to hear my baby's heart beat early and it was great just like a galloping horse or something. Although i'm still not feeling any movements either and I'm 17weeks along. But getting increasingly excited.

Happy cheery thoughts to everyone else, I hope everyone starts to feel better, more positive and gets all the rights results back from the various tests and scans. Fingers crossed.

MKG · 30/09/2008 18:59

well, she came over and all is well. she thinks i'm crazy for having 3 kids under 4, but overall supportive.

MrsEJO · 01/10/2008 12:25

Hello, posted a March thread only to scroll down and see this!!

I'm new and due March 23rd!!

Hello!!

Em

Sara333 · 01/10/2008 13:33

Hello,
Hope all those feeling under the weather are now a little better or soon will be. I´ve also had a cold for the past 2 weeks which is just not shifting, anyone else find it longer to shake things off when pg?

My parents didn´t react well to the news either, in fact i´m sick of people saying "Was it planned?" as if nobody in their right mind would actually plan to have 3 dcs!

I also cannot feel any movement and am nearly 17 weeks. And they say you´re supposed to feel it earlier in second and third pgs .. although my belly has expanded so much that he or she probably has heaps of space, am hoping it´s that or just down to this one being docile and laid back (wishful thinking!)

Best of luck to Meep and Mandy, am thinking of you and hoping for the best.
x

auntyspan · 01/10/2008 13:41

MKG sorry the reaction to your news wasn't great - I think sometimes shock has a lot to answer for... hopefully when she gets used to the idea things will be better.

jollyjoanne don't pressure on yourself, the baby will come when it's ready, if you waters break in the middle of the church then so be it!! My sister was very heavily pregnant when her best friend got married - she couldn't find anything to wear so bought a sari for £25 and looked amazing... (just an idea...)

I saw my midwife last week and we were talking about birth options, I thought I'd come round to the idea of a VBAC but when she said if nothing was happening by my due date they'd do a "trial of labour" before another section I burst into tears. I guess I'm not as ready for a VBAC as I thought I was.... I'm NOT going through what I went through with DD, I just refuse to. I'm now scared they won't give me an elective section because of their stupid targets

oooh dear that turned into a rant! Sorry!

OP posts:
auntyspan · 01/10/2008 13:43

On the movement issue - I voiced concerns to my midwife and she said it could be due to the fact my placenta is at the front this time so all kicks etc are being "buffered" - hence me not feeling them as much.... - ie, she told me to stop panicking unnecessarily!

OP posts:
MKG · 01/10/2008 13:49

I'm having the same issue I had with ds1. I rarely felt movement, but had a lot of back pain. Sometimes I think I feel something, but I dismiss it as gas.

aunty- Don't worry. They most likely will give you an elective without any problems. If that's what you want just tell them, and should accomodate. You've already had one so they will be more likely to give you another one.

Mandy--am thinking of you. Hope you get good news.

Wheelybug · 01/10/2008 14:06

Aunty - I was told that if I don't have to go straight to c-sec (i.e. if this baby doesn't have same issues as dd had) then it would be my choice whether I had an elective or VBAC. At the moment I'm gearing myself up for VBAC mainly because I can't stand the thought of having to stay in hospital and then being out of action for a few weeks at home. I have no issues with the concept of another c-sec in theory (as long as the baby is fine in my mind is the important thing not how it gets out), but I dread having a trial of labour and ending up with an emergency c-sec again.

My friends who have had elective c-secs after emergencies had really positive experiences and would highly recommend it. But then, my friend who particularly rated it had her DH home for 3 weeks after birth. I had intended the same but as DH will have probably only just gone back to work (hopefully) after sick leave I think 3 weeks might be pushing it !

The yoga classes I've signed up for are particularly designed for helping an active birth. I know my body wasn't ready for labour with dd as it was early and it didn't react to induction so I want to give it all the help I can !

babyinbelly · 01/10/2008 14:15

Hello everyone. On the topic of VBAC I am desperately hoping that I can pull one off without c-section. I desperately want lots of children after this one so if I have to have section I will be devestated.

Aunty - If you want one then there is no reason for them to say no. You just have to be firm in what you want. My m/w said that the consultant will try to make me think I have no option but elective c-sec so make sure I know my options before I see him to have a better chance of VBAC.

This is your birth they have to respect your wishes.

Wheelybug · 01/10/2008 14:23

BabyinBelly - LOTS more .

Aunty - I also meant to say that my friend who is a champion for elective c-sec did have to talk to different doctors before she was 'allowed'. Some were saying she should try labour even though she went to two weeks overdue, was induced and nothing happened. But, each time she went (and saw something different) she asked the question and in the end the last person she saw said 'your choice'.

Its hard though when the medical profession are adamant about something because although I consider myself well informed, well educated and reasonably intelligent I still seem to do what they say. Although, I have to say, I had a great registrar in the final stages of dd's birth who although told me I had didn't really have much option other than c-sec she let me call the end to induction when I felt enough was enough and made sure I was 'happy' with the decision.

babyinbelly · 01/10/2008 14:49

Oh yes! I want at least 4/5. This is my second but they only want you to have 3 sections max and if second one is section as well as the first then you can't go for VBAC next time.

I don't want a doctor dictating how many children I can have!

Mandy73 · 01/10/2008 16:33

Hi all,

My amnio is back and it shows none of the three most common chromosome abnormalities despite the insane 1 in 3 risk given to us.

However they will keep investigating, esp. the heart and growth. Should know more by end of Nov.

Just spoke to DH on the phone, v shaky, want to be sick, laugh & cry. So very grateful.

Thanks everyone for the kind words of support in the past crazy 3,5 weeks - worst of our lives.
xx

emma2617 · 01/10/2008 16:47
