Well, dh will probably have a glass when he gets in & I can cook with the rest tomorrow. Go on, tuck in chilledmama

pluto · 30/09/2008 20:30

I have clearly exploded on the bump front in the last few days. All students at school are now asking if I'm pg and go on to look very relieved when I say yes rather than sticking them in detention for suggesting I've eaten too many cakes (which I have, there's a supply in my desk drawer). The arrival of my super dooper highly extravagant Isabella Oliver order today couldn't be better timed. I can now wear clothes rather than a sack to work. Struggling to find nice trousers though. Our H&M range is tiny and consists of tops and jeans and the Mothercare was just horrid. I don't want expensive: just plain black and boring go with everything sort.

WMMC - can I have some of everything please? Had risotto for supper 2 hours ago and I'm starving AGAIN! Uni work - I should have been doing that now. Had to cancel my registration to an MA course last month - would have been impossible to do with lo. I'll have another go when maternity leave ends.

onwardandupward · 30/09/2008 20:36

One of my colleagues waved his glass of wine right under my nose today. Cheeky beggar. He was lucky I wasn't sick in it.

chilledmama · 30/09/2008 20:39

Oh OK then...and what makes it all better is that I've just found some choc too!!!!!!!

chilledmama · 30/09/2008 20:44

I'm stuffing my face with one of Happy Birthday choc lolipops that you get in CentreParcs...yummy

I've had a (large) sip of my wine and I can already feel my muscles getting sleepy.

Maybe that will help me sleep seeing as nothing else seems to!!

MarkStretch · 30/09/2008 20:56

WMMC you inspired me to have a nice long hot bath. Now hand over the fruit tart!

Can't help still being paranoid after my scare last week. Tonight I had some braxton hicks type tightenings, I know they're normal but spent half an hour pacing and worrying. I just wish I could relax a bit more and start enjoying it

It hasn't helped DH being on earlies for the last 6 days so out of the house for 13hrs and I miss him and feel all lonely.

Oh booooooo! What a crappy day we're all having!

OK finished my chocolate...what can I have next????????????

winemakesmummyclever · 30/09/2008 21:06

Tuck in m'dears

Rachrox · 30/09/2008 21:13

Hi Ladies,
Wow you've all done a lot of ranting talking today!
TBM Hope Tink is feeling better.
LB The love does grow to fit all dc's, although i'm on my 4th and still worry about it and the attention thing.
All the talk of wine and a hot bath sounds great, but dh wont let me have either as i love my baths super hot !! So i'm sticking with showers for the moment.
I had my 2nd scan today, but have to go back in a week or two as baby was being a bugger and put it's arms across the face (x-factor stylie!!) and also the legs were crossed so don't know the sex.... yet
Ok i think that's enough of a ramble from me, i think we may need a new thread soon....

winemakesmummyclever · 30/09/2008 21:14

MS - it's difficult to relax if you have had any sort of scare. Try to take it day by day for now. Things will get easier, honestly.

Of course, then the little wrigglers will arrive and a whole new set of worries begin

LittleMissNorty · 30/09/2008 21:26

Blimey you lot are chatty

I also find it strange with a 2nd pregnancy....no time to enjoy it (and I want to cos it'll be my last) and not nearly as exciting as last time

I'm also terrified of having a boy (which is why I'm not finding out).....I'm so used to girls and girlie bits / things.....what an earth would I do with a boy? I also have friends that have boys that are really horrible ....very aggressive / physical etc....DH says its my hormones cos we wouldn't bring up a son like that, but I can't help but be worried

Blimey, kicks are very strong now....and take me by surprise

Another scan tomorrow

laidbackinengland · 30/09/2008 21:41

Boys are lovely !! Trust me I have 3 ! I think it absolutely depends how you bring them up.

I have developed some weird food allergy this pregnancy . I have never been allergic to anything before, but over the last week I have got very rapid mouth ulcers and a swollen bottom lip (think Lesley Ash) when eating certain foods. Still trying to track down what it is.....(please god, not chocolate ).

LittleMissNorty · 30/09/2008 21:44

I know its totally irrational and I'll be fine with a DS - I'd love it in fact.....but am just a bit scared. Blardy hormones!

chilledmama · 30/09/2008 22:08

i have a ds who is almost 2yrs old and he's wonderful...nurture/nature thing. I think I've done a pretty good job but I do believe we're just lucky that he's such a sweetheart.

He comes over and gives me cuddles and pats my back like I pat his bottom when I give him a cuddle.

I think Bout bits are easier to clean than girls! No extra folds and you don't have to think about direction of wiping!!

LittleMissNorty · 01/10/2008 08:16

this is for those of you that travel to work by train

winemakesmummyclever · 01/10/2008 08:23

Laidback - ooh, sounds unpleasant. Second your wish that it isn't choc

LMN - boys are lovely. Ds was the first boy for three generations on my side of the family. You can guess just how worried I was about dealing with those extra bits! My ds is a monkey sometimes, but then, whose kids aren't? To make up for his monkeyness, he is loving, funny, kind and loves cuddles - like to thing that I have had something to do with some of that .

Felt very very fat by the time I went to bed last night. Serves me right for scoffing so much really. Only managed half of the wine (glass, not bottle ) - so out of practice .

Ds in nursery so will spend the day doing uni stuff and cleaning as the PILS are due to come tomorrow (only allowed to come when dh is off otherwise I would go insane). Am sure they have a secret pair of white gloves for checking dusty surfaces with. Their house is like a show house. MIL even sends PIL out to the pub on a Friday night so she can do some more cleaning

Fingers crossed for anyone with scans today - hope everything goes well.

KazzaL · 01/10/2008 08:32

I'm worried about having a girl, LMN - it was DH who was worried about the whole cleaning a girl thing with the different bits having a DS already, and I was really cool about it and said it would be fine, but I looked after a friend's DD last thursday evening and she did a big poo and i was paranoid about cleaning her, was I doing it the right way etc?

Scan's on friday, DH & I still haven't decided whether to find out or not

Like all the food chat last night - DH made a green curry last night and as he was making decided it wasn't green enough and so put more paste in - it was a little hot

DS still has diarrhoea - almost a week now, but it's DH's turn to spend the day with him today - our house smells of poo now which is delightful, so i'm hoping it wil be nice at the weekend, so I can get all the windows open and fumigate. Took him to the doc as NHS direct said to - looked silly as the doc checked him over and said he was fine and it would just have to run its course.

Hope everyone else's LO's are ok especially Tink

dinkystinky · 01/10/2008 08:58

Hello all - hope everyone who was feeling ranty/tired/blue yesterday evening is feeling much better today. TBM - really hope Tink is on the mend today: she's very much in all our thoughts (as are you).

Questionkid - your wedding is drawing so near; must be so exciting!

KazzaL - you may want to try restricting dairy products for your DS (can prolong the diarrhoea as keeps upsetting the tummy) for a day or so to see if that helps clear it up (the only thing that helped last year when our DS had something v similar). Huge sympathies to you on a poo-ey smelling house. If is any consolation, virtually everything my husband and I own (including the sofa) is covered in snot marks from DS at the moment.... Who would have thought such a small nose could create so much snot; it looks like a rather rampant bunch of slugs have been attacking our house

To all those scared about having a DS or DD (when they're used to the other variety), it will be just fine regardless of what flavour you get ...its just those pesky pregnancy hormones going into overdrive. This is now my mantra when I wake up in a cold sweat at 3 in the morning wondering how on earth I'll cope, particularly if DH (who works in the financial markets) loses his job....

2 days to go until my scan...

winemakesmummyclever · 01/10/2008 09:20

KazzaL - so sorry that your ds is still poorly. It must be awful for all of you. How is he in himself? Is he drinking /eating much? Second Dinky's idea of restricting dairy, though when ds was ill on holiday all he would eat was yoghurts or bread sticks . Would he take an electrolyte replacement drink, such as Dioralyte? Even a tiny bit can help. Hope that you and your dh are not too knackered/worn down by it all. You have to take care of yourselves (and the bean) too .

Dinky - agree with you. Whatever sex the baby is, it becomes your norm and you just muck in and get on with it and forget that you ever worried about which way you should be wiping.

TBM - don't expect you to be on here for a while, but just wanted you to know that am thinking of you, Tink and TBD. Hopefully, you are all snuggled up on the sofa, scoffing buttery toast and watching a movie/reading stories. When things have calmed down a wee bit, get in touch with the respiratory nurses at your local hospital. They are bob on at sorting out individual & specific management plans for severe asthmatic episodes. Unfortunately, it often takes such awful attacks to make people pay attention and deliver the necessary care (that you have probably been asking for all along).

Oh well, better go and hit the books. If you see me back here before lunchtime, throw something at me until I go away

dinkystinky · 01/10/2008 10:00

P.s - whoever is looking for black trousers, may be worth checking out Blooming Marvellous or Jojomamanbebe (using MN discounts of course) as they do plain black trousers I think which are £30 or so... Otherwise topshop online maternity has a pair (but kind of depends on style you want)

LittleMissNorty · 01/10/2008 10:07

for those worried about cleaning girls, they say wipe front to back.....but it goes everywhere it shouldn't anyway.....so never really saw the point of that piece of advice!

A good soak in the bath sorts it all out

swampster · 01/10/2008 11:33

Happy Birthday, littlesez.

rosieposey · 01/10/2008 12:26

Helloooo everyone :-)

Had a poo day yesterday and one of those awful hypo things (insulin overload i think) so felt v poorly a couple of times yesterday. Have pesky hospital this afternoon for blood pressure checks and diabetes consultant (hope its not the other one too in a joint clinic - have so far managed to avoid her for six weeks) Have anomoly scan tomorrow so will be glad when thats given the all clear.
I have bought far too many blue clothes (beige, brown, white, cream ect ect...) and now think that i might have slightly overdone Lo's clothes for the first three months. I remember doing this in every pregnancy and i always say im not going to but its all just sooo irresistable and i just have to get cute baby stuff ok not HAVE to but still, no excuses!
TBM hope Tink is on the mend now, thinking of you.
I have now had three weeks to get used to the idea that im having a Milo and not an Isabella (not sure i would have got away with that name anyway for a girl) and i have to admit not only was i shocked beyond belief as i had convinced myself that i was having another girl but i too for a few days wondered how i would ever love or bond with a little man of my own - i mean hes a man fgs! But, have now (admittedly with the help of retail therapy) come around to the idea of having a boy and cant wait actually. I wont lie though, i did have a moment in TK MAXX yesterday when those ballerina baby slippers and little girly tutus and stuff made me feel very wistful.

KazzaL · 01/10/2008 12:53

Thanks all for the advice - the only thing he will drink at the mo is milk and eat wise a few strawberries, bits of cheese and a few bites of anything is it's on our plates. So cutting out diary is probably not going to happen, I have been watering down his milk during the day though

The really frustrating thing is that he is absolutely fine in himself - just bored i think as he's been stuck at home and inside as well cos of the weather, even cbeebies is beginning to lose its effect; alhtough I now know what balamory & in the night garden is

rosieposey - completely agree my scan is on friday as as I haven't felt this one move as much as DS, I'm feeling a bit nervous amd although there are plenty of logical explanations, all the ilogical ones are the ones my brain is fixating on.

rosieposey · 01/10/2008 13:27

Ohhh there is a June thread! Ok havent been quite so prolific on here as usual so didnt notice it but wow! Thats proper summer babies and we're winter... Am really starting to feel pregnant now

Kazza i feel movement from this lo quite a bit but no actual kicks just more squirming all over the place - quite looking forward to feeling kicks now though as im sure i remember my girls being earlier than this.
