idbi, where did you get your leggings from? Have seen quite a few pairs around but want ones which are guaranteed not to need regular hoiking up.

thehouseofmirth · 26/09/2008 17:27

Lardy I'm sorry you had a worrying & embarrassing day! Our receptionists are actually really goo
d and if you have a little one they always squeeze you in, no matter what. Shame it's not the same for adults. Still, at least it was today and the weekend or you probably would have end up sitting in A& E for hours.

idontbelieveit · 26/09/2008 17:36

M&S online, they're £9.50, a bargain compared to mothercare. I really really love them, they make me feel less exposed than tights IYKWIM and I am going to wear these ones out in a couple of weeks i reckon.

idontbelieveit · 26/09/2008 17:37

our docs receptionists are absolte bitches, they lie about appointments and tell you to call back the next day knowing there will be still nothing available, they drive me MAD!

lardybump · 26/09/2008 17:48

Thank you all I feel a bit less like a freak now.....

MarkStretch · 26/09/2008 18:15

Any one else fed up of having an almost constant cold?

My head is banging, my nose is bunged, my throat is tickly.

It has been like this for a WEEK.

Cough, cough.

MS - I'm runny-nose central here - I HATE IT!

dinkystinky · 26/09/2008 19:21

A pregnancy symptom can apparently be increased mucus all round - delightful!

Lardybump - sorry your little one is still ill (and sorry about your little one too MamaG); you did absolutely the right thing in getting it checked out by the doctor and the doctor's receptionist should at the very least have offered, when you called and were told no appointments, to get a doctor to call you back to talk you through the symptoms over the phone to see if you need to go to hospital or not. Is what my dad's surgery does and both surgeries I have used in London do and what any responsible surgery would do - am appalled at evil receptionist lady and hope she felt suitably bad at making pregnant lady cry in reception...

LittleMissNorty · 26/09/2008 19:34

Hello all

Not sure I had anything to do with the crotchless maternity tights Dinky.........stick to trousers myself

MamaGoose · 26/09/2008 20:06

Talking about runny things, I have had a bad stomach for a week now (sorry if too much information). Normally I would probably be quite pleased with this short-cut measure to an uber-flat stomach but right now my (probably) svelte figure is disguised behind an enormous bump. I saw midwife (now I have one!!) yesterday who said "don't worry, drink lots, avoid wheat and dairy but baby is a parasite and will take everything you've got". Anyone know how to shake this flippin thing off?! Surely this can't actually be a pregnancy symptom (but as DS2 is now ill too, I think not). I am getting very tired and run down after a week of not really eating!

herbgarden · 26/09/2008 20:23

Hi there all - didn't have time to read all the posts - you lot have been v.busy today....

But, I've had runny/snotty nose since being pg (am usually pretty bad with rhinitis but pg has made it worse)....and have also had an upset stomach for the past week. Wondered if it was something I ate but maybe your midwife is right Mama Goose....

Anyway, otherwise I went to see the consultant today and they've booked my c-section already - 2nd February in the morning when I'll be 38 +4. That's the day my consultant does her surgeries. All very weird to be "booking" in to have a baby but we'll see what happens. My waters broke nearly 3 weeks early last time so might all happen naturally anyway...

Off on holiday tomorrow morning for a week so I'll sign off til week tomorrow !!....Dh has just come home from work - not packed yet and is doing his usual "I don't suppose you know where "x" is do you?" (given we only moved house last week I have no idea where half his stuff is - I feel very saintly as I packed before we left knowing this might happen [smug emoticon])....he's banging up and downstairs and I'm trying to get ds off to sleep as we have to get up at 3.30am to get to the airport GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

dinkystinky · 26/09/2008 20:30

Sorry LittleMissNorty - pregnancy brain strikes again! Meant ThehouseofMirth!!

Am also a trousers girl (primarily because I cant be bothered to shave my legs).

dinkystinky · 26/09/2008 20:33

Have a fabulous holiday Herbgarden - dont envy you that 3.30 start with a toddler though!

herbgarden · 26/09/2008 20:40

I know - have put him to bed in a pair of joggy bottom (as he calls them ) type trousers and his t-shirt - he was v.confused - in the hope that he might not stir too much if we don't have to "dress" him from pj's to clothes before getting him in the car. Knowing my luck he'll be wide awake from then on in although maybe then he might sleep on the plane - last time we went was June and he was just a couple of weeks off turning 2 so didn't get a seat - this time, thank god he has got his own seat so at least he won't be sitting on my lap and bump for 3 and a half hours.

LittleMissNorty · 26/09/2008 21:24

Have a fab holiday.....

2nd Feb...Im very ....couldn't get my consultant to agree outright to a (2nd) CS.

swampster · 26/09/2008 23:34

Oh no, Tinkerbellesmum posted this on FB:

Im at my parents, shes still in. I feel bad cause its the first time Ive left her in hospital since I was discharged before her. Theyve had to stop nebulising her because her heart rate goes up when she looks at it 135-215 when they put her on it! Her O2 levels are also setting off the monitor as its dipping below 90. Shes on the obs ward as shes not well enough for a normal ward she needs constant monitoring. Her dad is with her Nanny and I are just out getting a FiFi doll lol it was the only way to get out. Please can someone post this on MN incase anyones not on here Im on my mobile without predictive text!

thehouseofmirth · 27/09/2008 08:07

Oh no, poor TBM and Tinkerbelle. I hope she's better this morning. Asthma is such a scary illness.

mrsy · 27/09/2008 08:25

TBM - hope everything is okay.

Girls - I'm FED up.

of runny nose

of painful back

of not finding clothes/bra that fits for more than two minutes

of not sleeping cos it sounds like i have a washing machine/hurricaine in my ear

of being on the edge of tears all the time

of needing reassurance from John every five seconds that all is okay

of being sick

of always thinking 'could this harm her' when i'm about to eat/drink/do ANYTHING

of looking like a big heiffer

but most of all...

of not feeling her and not enjoying my pregnancy, which i always thought i would.

[big fat heffalump in tears emoticon]

MarkStretch · 27/09/2008 08:59

MRSY when I fell pregnant with dd I was 23 and a student. I had NO money, was in Northern Ireland away from my family and I had a useless boyfriend.

My mother went MENTAL at me, said I would be cut out of the will, my grandparents would never speak to me again etc etc.

I said sod you all and got on with it, detirmined to enjoy it as I thought it may be the only time I ever do it.

This time round I am married, I own my own house, I have a job and money, I am safe and secure and I am TERRIFIED.

I am worried things will go wrong, how it will affect our life and our relationship, how the new baby will fit in, all of those things are running through my head. Like you I was shocked and amazed to be pregnant and that just seems to add to the pressure doesn't it?

Just wanted to say, don't worry. Having a baby is a scary and different time, you body and your mind change beyond anything you would have ever expected. You don't have to enjoy it and no one will judge you if you don't. Give yourself a break.

That's what we are here for, come on and rant at us. No one here will give you a hard time for feeling that way, cos we are too.

Oh mrsy so sorry you are feeling so down. I am also crying all the time tis these nasty hormones. At lease you know that by feeling so bad the baby is doing really well. If you think it would help I could meet up with you for a coffee sometime (I live in same town as you) and we could be two tearful heffalump's together?!!! Just let me know.

As this is your first it is quiet normal not to feel the baby yet or at least not to recognise it. Once you realise what it is then you will feel it most days from about 22 weeks onwards. By the time you get to 30 weeks you will be asking the bump to stop bloody kicking............ honest.....

Big cuddles to you (and pass the custard creams will you MS)

mrsy · 27/09/2008 10:38

I'm sorry. i just feel really worthless today. My sister split up with her boyfriend last weekend and I feel like all I've done is listen to her. I had plans with my friend Claire, and then this evening a group of us are getting together for a meal. My sister has invited herself along, and I just can't handle her all day, talking about what happened. So I cancelled, blaming my back (which was half true) and she went into a huge rant about how unsupportive I am and what a bitch I am. I said that I could say the same about her and the pregnancy and how she is never interested in me and what's going on in my life and how instead of coming round for a meal with my and John and my mum, to look at the scan pics and chat baby-stuff, she went and got drunk with a friend...

I had to hang up so I didn't scream down the phone at her and have been sat here sobbing ever since. I know I'm being selfish - but I don't care. I sleppt for about five minutes last night, and it's taking all my energy not to hate the baby for putting me through this. How awful is that?

Sorry for the long ranty-post.

pluto · 27/09/2008 10:43

I have just spent A LOT of money on the Isabella Oliver site. I realy hope it all fits. 20% sale until 1st Oct.

lardybump · 27/09/2008 10:47

Mrsy it is not awful just human......

PinkTulips · 27/09/2008 11:25

tbm, so sorry tink is sick. asthma is such a horrendous diesese, dp has it and it rules his life i hope she's home soon.

well had my physio yesterday and once she saw the state of my back it turned from a quick session to teach me excercises into full physio and i'll be back every 2 weeks for the duration of the preg and possibly beyond... pool sessions and orthopedics were mentioned

she gave me a support belt which is bloody annoying but does stop me bending so i suppose it's serving it's function.

she also told me my bum was too soft and needed muscle tone and that my entire back was ropey and that my spine is curved in all sorts of ways it shouldn't be

felt like telling her 'well dp likes my bum' when she mentioned that but was feeling too sorry for myself by that point! had to bring dd with me too and she spent the whole session being a very loud doggy and 'helping' me do the excercises.
