Mrsy, those people who tell you to "enjoy" your pregnancy, have either never been pregnant or were pregnant so long ago they've forgotten how scary it is.

I'm prone to terrible anxiety (about everything, not just being pg and whipped myself into such a frenzy of anxiety on Thursday morning that I made myself sit on a park bench and write down all my worries and then a list of how ridiculous/temporary/irrational they were. It made me feel a lot better - maybe you should give it a whirl. It's a tip given to me by a hypnotherapist I saw a few months ago when I was trying to conceive and wanted to calm down a bit!

Pregnancy is very scary and brings up all your deepest worries. I think you just have to accept this and stop being so hard on yourself.
Nobody expects you to be perfect (apart from maybe yourself?).

TBM. Thinking of your beautiful little girl. Give her a big cuddle from me. She's a fighter (like her mum) and will be fine.

xxxx

lardybump · 27/09/2008 12:41

TBM so sorry only just seen the post about your little girl. I really hope she is getting better today...

PT hope that the physio helps with your back pain.

mrsy I am serious about meeting up if you want to.

MsLucy I am going to take your tip. I am having problems with my MIL at the moment, that I am exagerating and making worse so I need to calm out a bit...

mumoverseas · 27/09/2008 12:54

Tinkerbellesmum, hope you and your little princess are ok. Hope you manage to get some rest yourself as you need to make sure you look after yourself as well as your little one. Thinking of you

mslucy · 27/09/2008 19:19

hello there everyone.
Hope you've all been enjoying the lovely weather.
Have any of you been having headaches?
I've had a real shocker today, which was a shame as we had a really lovely afternoon in Highgate Woods.

I think it's partly stress related - I rent out a flat and have had tenant troubles (too dull to recount) - but I think do think pregnancy hormones must be to blame for the sheer nastiness of it.

The worst thing is that you can't just knock back the nurofen and I feel uncomfortable taking paracetamol. Yes, I know it's supposed to be safe, but I don't like the idea of it.

I bought some of those strips to put on your forehead but they just felt weird and slimy.

Any lentil weaverish suggestions would be gratefully received.

MarkStretch · 27/09/2008 19:21

Mslucy- my DH knows of a pressure point on the sole of your foot. He's just popped to the shop, when he comes back I'll ask him. It usually works for me and you can get a free foot rub!

OP posts:
MarkStretch · 27/09/2008 19:25

It's kind of between your big and second toe, under the ball of your foot.

But he did say 'I'm no expert, I just normally rub your foot'.

Pah.

Hi all - thanks for the support. I feel a lot better not.

We've had a bit of a day of it a Y-towers. My sister decided to come round to the house to persaude me to go out tonight, and then preceeded to have another go. When I got rid of her and lay down on the sofa to shift my headache a neighbour (who we've had a dispute with about parking) came to ask me to move my car so her could get to work (despite being on the dole) and when I told him i couldn't because of my back, he said he'd move it - no way! So after he came into my back garden and tried to get into the house, I agreed to take the handbrake off so it would roll back. Which I did, causing the car to roll into me, knocking my back.

By this time John was on his way home from work, as I'd called him when the bloke was at the back door, as well as a friend who's a cop.

Everything was fine, but it did give me a shock, and I hated feeling so vulnerable and intimidated. We have a PCSO coming round in the week to take a statement, but I'm worried that will escalate things...

Anyway. Have just had a lovely meal, cooked by hubby, and we're watching Return of the King (john's also painting his LotR's warhammer men!!!).

Will check in tomorrow - hope all is well.

swampster · 27/09/2008 22:48

Yikes, mrsy, that really was a day-and-a-half! On a brighter note, tomorrow's bound to be better.

I have been busy nesting - in my garden tiny back yard! Spent a packet at Crocus on compost and climbers BUT remembered to google for a voucher and got 20% off!!!

TinkerBellesMum · 27/09/2008 23:55

I'm back at my parents and on Dad's laptop. I'll repost what I've just put on FB save me typing it all out again.

This could be long! Mark called this morning to say they'd been transfered to another hospital. They put her on two hourly nebs as everytime she went to sleep her O2 levels dropped back down. The plan was to keep her on 2 hourly and then drop it down to 4 hourly during the day moving on to inhalers during the night and leaving Sunday. They've had her on 2 hourly all day, doctor just checked her before I left and said they need to increase it to 1 hourly. The nurses are complaining her room is like the antartic but her temp has varied between 37-39. She's still very tired, a little more life than yesterday but it's in bouts rather than totally picked up IYSWIM. She's still not eating much but is drinking, she's going through three nappies some hours! She's still fighting the neb and it's causing her stats to go all over the place.

MarkStretch · 28/09/2008 07:50

Morning all.

Speedy recovery to Tink- I hope she's well again soon.

MrsY - sounds like you have had enough bloody drama for one weekend! Is your back ok? Glad your DH looked after you.

Swampy- please can you come and do my garden? I hate gardening.

I had a slight nesting day yesterday. Did loads of washing and scrubbed the kitchen from top to bottom and then cooked dinner last night (meatballs and pasta with loads of hidden veg in the sauce- ha ha children)

And then made beef stew and dumplings for tonights dinner.

All I seem to do at the moment is eat. I am trying really hard to fill my day with lots of fruit snacks as well as chocolate but the biscuit tin keeps wrestling me to the floor and forcing it's lovely biscuits into my gob.

Today I am going to see my mother who has announced that she is moving to France at Xmas time for good and will not be here when lo arrives. They have been planning on doing it for a while so it's no big surprise but I am still gutted. She is very close to dd and she won't be to this one.

Baby had a mad kicking fit this morning

chilledmama · 28/09/2008 09:06

Hi All...just had a quick scan of page...

Hope Tinks gets better soon...puts things in proportion when you have times like this.

I got a blardy shock on Thursday!!! When I picked up DS from nursery, the invoice was waiting for me...almost £1000 for October
Then got another shock when British Gas sent there 'New Estimate' for the rest of our 'plan' and its gone up by £21 a month!!!
I looked at all the energy saving things they suggested and we're pretty much doing it all already save a couple...overfilling the kettle
I don't think I'll be doing any of my shopping in Waitrose any more!!!!!

Any good tips on how to save on house hold energy bills???????????

McDreamy · 28/09/2008 09:12

One thing I am not looking forward to when we move back to the UK!!

chilledmama · 28/09/2008 09:17

its a bloomin nightmare.

I don't use a tumble dryer...I don't even have one!

I have the most energy efficient washing machine (energy and water).

The dishwasher only goes on 2/3 a week because it doesn't have a half load function and when it does go on, it goes on at the eco wash!

Heating hasn't been on at all since end of April.

I suppose I could reduce the amount I shower...I'm sure the RN won't mind me being a bit smelly

swampster · 28/09/2008 09:36

Candles an gaslights, chilledmama! We are also gobsmacked by how big our bills are.

mrsy · 28/09/2008 10:31

Mornin' all!

Things are a lot better this morning - I actually had quite a good night's sleep - hurrah!
My back's not feeling as bad as I thought it would, and I think the bloke was so shit-scarred when I hurt myself, that he won't bother us again - plus he's got two court cases coming up; one for benefit fraud and one for driving 130 mph, off his face, and not stopping for the police! Nice neighbour, huh?!

Chilledmama - it's so frustrating when they tell you to do things you're already doing, isn't it? Not looking forward to winter...

mslucy · 28/09/2008 10:39

don't get me started on bills.
I am really shocked by how much everything has gone up. I think I was cushioned from the real horrors by a full time wage - now that's gone everything seems a bit scary.

Food is the real nightmare - a bag of shopping that cost £15 a year ago now costs well over £20 (I buy on a day by day basis).

Also ds seems to eat as much as an adult and now he isn't having all his meals at nursery we seem to get through about twice as much food as we did a year ago.

Grumble moan, grumble moan.

Have the remnants of evil headache from yesterday and have accountant coming over to tell me how much I owe the tax man. And have to sort out my tenant troubles, definitely the cause of yesterday's stress attack.

Ds also did a small poo on the floor this morning. He gets so absorbed playing with his trains that he "forgets" to go to the toilet until it's a bit too late. I think I'm going to get some sort of star chart going where I reward him for every time he poos in the toilet as I find the grossness a bit too much.

Time to write of one of my lists, methinks and try and get some sense of proportion.

Sorry to hear about nasty neighbour, mrsy, that sounds really horrible.

idontbelieveit · 28/09/2008 10:42

Hello all.

mrsy - Sorry about your sister, your back and your scary neighbour, hope today is a better day for you. I didn't have any definite movement until about week 24 with dd1 so I don't think you should worry about that at all.

Hope Tink improves today TBM, thinking of you.

I should get my CF results tomorrow, it will be 10 days since they took bloods. Am feeling a bit tearful and nervous today
dd been up since 4am after having a nightmare and went back to sleep at 9:30am but i'm too awake to sleep now....

idontbelieveit · 28/09/2008 10:45

our bills are horrendous and DH has been underpaid for his new job by about £600, it's a total nightmare but am trying hard not to think about money as i have to many other things going round my head at the moment.

rosieposey · 28/09/2008 10:55

And as if by magic MS... Im back! Arghhh bloody teenagers broke my laptop and had to send away to be repaired (came back Friday) I managed to get on once during the week at my sisters house but not for long and not enough time to read all of the posts. However, i have caught up this morning, Ohhhh MS sorry to hear about your scare ... i stopped knicker checking at about 15 weeks but it just goes to show that pregnancy can still surprise you - so glad all is well with you though and congrats on the boy!!! Frank is a fab name Ive been buying non stop blue and beige type clothing for the last two weeks and Im getting really excited about Milos impending arrival although shitting myself a bit now as realised that im now halfway thru (assuming they go thru with the induction at 38 weeks) and hes got to come out somehow - it seemed so long to go when i was 12 weeks
TBM - really hope lil' Tink is holding up bless her, asthma is scary (my youngest has it as do i) specially when they are so little but she will be fine
Idontbelieveit - good luck on your results - 85% is a pretty good chance that everything will be ok.
Questionkid, spent all day yesterday running around trying to organise weddingy type stuff as realised that we only have 6 weeks and 6 days to go now (OMG, OMG!!! ) but have entertainmentsorted, florist, flowers ect ect, so think that am getting there although guests have now spiralled up to 90! Getting v excited though
Ok well am glad everyone else is well and congrats on finding out about your boys and girls... I have scan on Thurs so will be glad when that is done and dusted, have a good feeling about my boy though

Happy Sunday!

KazzaL · 28/09/2008 12:44

TBM - so hope tink is doing better today

rosieposey - 6 weeks is plenty of time - when DH and I decided to get married I had the whole thing planned and organised and we got married 5 weeks later, so it is possible - having watched friends get stressed about theirs for months, I'm glad we did it so quickly - admittedly I wasn't pg at the time though. I did have to have a readymade dress though

DS still has diarrhoea, but he doesn't seem to be bothered by his teeth today which is an improvement on yesterday - he has the bottom canines coming thorugh which i;ve heard can be worse than the molars? Think DH will be taking tomorrow of work to look after him unless things improve this afternoon, especially as I've let him out with his geek friends to do geek things - is anyone else a WoW widow? Dh has just booked the week off work for when the expansion comes out

rosieposey · 28/09/2008 12:54

Lol Kazza im not a WoW widow but i am a skateboarding one - everytime the sun shows its face hes gone! Grrr ... have put my foot down today though and insisted that he is back for 3 o clock so that we can all go out for a family walk. Your right as well about it all getting done fairly sharpish - i only ordered the invites a week ago and they should be here next week - i reckon 6 weeks is enough time to get them out anyway. I have ordered a 'backup' wedding dress from the states though and it got here last week - have just taken it to be altered as i am convinced that my now uber bump will be looking like a nine monther in another 6 weeks . Also not having a hen night is bothering me a bit - because i just moved here a few months ago dont really know anyone and its unlikely that old Surrey friends would come here for the night - DP is having a stag night with about 30 people so i milked the sympathy card a bit and we're having a big Halloween party the following weekend on Nov 1st to make up for my lack of Hen night - will have lots of people and should be great fun I love Halloween its such good fun, I used to live in NC in the states and they make such a big deal out of it there i suppose its always just stayed with me so i decorate the house and stuff - my kids love it too Good excuse for a party!

KazzaL · 28/09/2008 13:11

DH's little brother is a skateboarder - although after the amount of dental work, stitches & broken limbs he's had, that he still does it. Unfortunatley DH is an allround geek - somehting he was careful to keep hidden from me till it was too late and I was hooked - he comes across as this rugby playing public school type which he is, but has lots of geekiness too - we have too many collections of things - lego (all made up and displayed), transformers (the orig ones from the 80s) all in their teams in display cabinets, he also plays too many computer games including WoW, role plays (dungeons & dragons mainly), warhammer too and a card game called Magic - the list goes on - It's amazing we have one child let alone another one on the way

he always says that if I wanted him to he wodl sell all his stuff and give up, but then I wouldn't get any me time to watch girlie TV and relax in the bath

PinkTulips · 28/09/2008 13:36

hello all.

tbm, sorry tink is still struggling kids her age are so resiliant though, and she's got all the goodies from extended bf-ing to strenghten her too thanks to you so i'm sure she'll be fine in no time. at least the fever is a sign her body is fighting the infection.

i'm a music widow...... between dp producing peoples albums, writing his own stuff and obsessivly reading about and downloading stuff from other artists that leaves about 5 mins a day for the rest of us and now he's learning bass guitar and planning on buying a drum kits and supposedly doing the sound engineering for a band he's produced for at gigs i guess that's our 5 mins down the drain! think i'd prefer skateboarding or lego as at least i'd have some interest in those but my mucical taste is the polar opposite of dp's for the most part so trying to feign interest in his rambling when he does talk to me is trying to say the least!

don't talk to me about bills i've got the last elec bill and some of the one before it to pay, car tax, insurance, loans and a small fortune to spend on oil. and all of this on less money than whan dp was on the dole! not to mention the price of petrol and basic food shopping. for weeks i thought i was just going overboard on the shopping and that's why it was getting so expensive but the last few shops it's occured to me that i'm not buying any more than usual, it's just costing way more. can't seem to spend much less than 200 euros on food shopping a week now. (would be cheaper if i didn't have to buy so much pricey stuff for dd but there's not much i can do about her intolerances except wait them out)

hope everyone is having the nice day we are, although if dp makes one more comment about hopw cold it is with the door open i'm going to close it.... with him on the outside ffs, it's warmer than it was most of the summer!

mslucy · 28/09/2008 14:13

KazzaL
DH's best friend is a Wow nut.
I made him a fab b/day card with a troll on it.
I will have to find a pic of it - it was awesome.

is he a troll or an orc?
