Glad everything is ok TBM & MS, what a scare though! Enjoy your 'day off' and get some rest (after a stupidly early trip to get your injection that is!)

idontbelieveit · 24/09/2008 09:23

MS, thank goodness you're ok. Enjoy your day off.
TBM - I got stuck on the bathroom floor when preggers with dd after bending over to wipe on the toilet I was crying and laughing at the same time. Luckily after much rocking and moaning my back started to work again otherwise I would have still been there when DH got back from work hours later! Hope that doesn't happen this time. Having a toddler when you have that kind of problem makes it all much harder to deal with!

swampster · 24/09/2008 09:27

Off to see the midwife this morning.

mslucy · 24/09/2008 10:52

MS so glad you're ok too.
Have been thinking about you loads. I kind of reckoned you'd be ok because your scan went so well.

I'm rhesus negative too - don't worry about injection, it's over before you know it.

Boys are GREAT. They are messy and smelly, but so loving and cuddlesome (not sure that's a real word). I am definitely not sorry to be having another little man, though living in an all male household may have its drawbacks.

Stanley was in fine form yesterday when we went to see the mw. DH thought his heartbeat sounded like the Dr Who theme tune. He has been kicking and wriggling loads - obviously a nutter like his big brother.

MarkStretch · 24/09/2008 10:57

I'm here and ok!

Been into hospital this morning to have my anti-d and they have given me direct access to the gynae ward for the next two weeks so if it happens I can bypass the midwife, ring them and go straight in which is good.

So far all has settled and lo is kicking away nicely. I have gone back to bed with my laptop and cups of tea, DH has gone to do the food shopping.

Kept dd off today as she was shattered this morning, she is currently playing in her room dressed as a mermaid but keeps coming in for cuddles.

Rang work and my new boss (who started Monday and I am yet to meet her) told me I must take it easy and put my feet up.

OP posts:
mslucy · 24/09/2008 12:34

yeah markstretch take it easy and enjoy those kicks.
got a name for him yet?

mrsy · 24/09/2008 12:35

Hey all. Gosh, we're a bit of a group with one thing and another!

MS- glad all is well, and double glad you have a boss that understands...

I'm in so much pain right now, I'm gonna have to phone the surgery to get a referall to a physio or oesteopath. Should I see the GP or the midwife, though?

MarkStretch · 24/09/2008 12:51

Shall we open a sanitorium for all our injured waifs and strays?

We need a starched white sheets and a busty matron to instruct us all to rest.

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 24/09/2008 13:47

My god, you lot are in the wars at the moment. Markstretch - glad everything is ok; try and take things easy and enjoy being pampered.

Tink - sorry about your back, how awful. Hope its feeling better today and you're back to mobility soon.

MrsY - get thee to your GP for an emergency referral, then follow it up with hospital midwife (dual prong approach will hopefully bear results soon).

Lardybump - glad you've seen your dentist nd they've diagnosed what it is. Dont worry about the antibiotics - plenty of women have to take them during pregnancy with no side effects; if you're really worried about it, give your midwife a call for reassurance that the ones given to you are ok. The only thing you might find, being pregnant, is that they give you abit of an upset tummy (as they have to be taken on empty stomach) - still on the bright side, its one way of avoiding the dreaded pregnancy constipation....

Am home off work today as our usually wonderful and reliable nanny put her back out yesterday (pulled muscle apparently - personally I think she probably overdid it at the gym the night before and was soldiering on) and is having the day to recuperate and try and ease out her back muscles with killer painkillers and hotwater bottles. Is quite nice being a SAHM for a change - DS has been delighful so far today and squiglet is kicking away like a mad thing so obviously loves hearing his/her big brother's voice...

dinkystinky · 24/09/2008 13:51

KazzaL - sorry missed you off earlier list of best wishes. Hope physio helps stave off your SPD this time round. I think the way modern life is now (much more sedentary lifestyle, lots of driving everywhere etc.) probably has contributed to the increase in pregnancy aches/pains/pangs/conditions - I certainly find that spending the best part of the week in an office sat behind a computer attributes to my tight hips...

Am aghast - we have mice! Was doing the washing up last night when one ran right by my foot from under the cooker to under the fridge - I had a fit! We know that the houses on both sides of us have mice (our houses back on to an old cemetery so they breed away merrily out there) so it was only a matter of time until we were invaded but still the thought of mice makes me feel all icky.

swampster · 24/09/2008 14:05

Midwife good, I'm pretty much back to being considered a 'normal' pregnancy .

My two-year-old has stolen my catch-all answer for where someone is and now when you ask him where anyone is, he says: "I think aliens took him", or "Maybe abducted by aliens?"

swampster · 24/09/2008 14:07

How about getting a cat, dinkystinky?

swampster · 24/09/2008 14:10

We've used these boxes before, and also the plastic traps below with butter or chocolate (forget grain, they don't eat it). We don't seem to have any mice at the moment.

The most important thing is supposed to be to block up any points of entry - neigh-on impossible in leaky old houses. Wire wool is pretty effective if you can find where they are getting in.

swampster · 24/09/2008 14:11

And don't bother with humane traps and releasing them in the wild - they have strong homing instincts and will be back.

dinkystinky · 24/09/2008 14:15

Thanks Swampster - you're a star. Glad all went well with midwife and you're classified as normal now (odd though that sounds). Am going to order some of those traps right now. Cat option out sadly - DH is obscenely allergic to cats so it would either be the cat or him...as he's currently in my good books, will keep him for now...

Is going to be pretty hard to block up all points of entry as we have old wooden floorboards downstairs with millions of gaps/holes in. Will go with trying out these traps and if that fails get DH to crawl around with the steel wool.

MarkStretch · 24/09/2008 14:35

Aghast- what a great word dinky.

DH just arrived home from doing the shopping and dd met him at the front door exclaiming 'Oh what a kind man you are...' in a rather Enid Blyton fashion.

I am craving some comfort food so have decided to make chicken and vegetable pie with mash and gravy for tonights dinner.

Smelling the hospital food made me crave a school dinner.

I wanted mash served in an icecream scoop and those weirdly square pieces of carrot.

Smwapy- awwwwwwwwwwww.

Ha! I called you SM-wapy. I quite like that name.

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 24/09/2008 14:46

Eeeww school dinners - for some reason all I can remember of those are hideously overcooked vegetables, mystery meat and stodgy puddings with lumpy custard. You must have gone to a much nicer school than me MS if you're craving school dinners!

Swampy - is your DS a bit fan of "aliens love underpants"? My DS (also 2) is and has now got into the cute but rather irritating habit of hiding underwear off the line somewhere and saying "alien took it"...

MarkStretch · 24/09/2008 14:48

No dinky- my school dinners were shit too!

Firmly blaming that craving on addled pregnancy brain!

OP posts:
PinkTulips · 24/09/2008 14:50

MS, glad all is well. take a well desreved break after that scare though.

Tink, that's hrrific, i've been stuck a few times but luckily only ever when dp's been about so far. not fun! got my physio appointemnt for friday though so hopefully they can give me some coping techiniques!

dinky, my cats caught our single resident mouse that's had been evading me for a year last week and left him by the bin for me, was very proud of them

nutella and rice krispies are supposed to be good. if you know he goes in a paticular cupboard put some in the end of a kitchen roll inner tube at one end and rest it half on and half off the cupboard shelf with a bucket underneath, he'll walk down the tube to get the food and tip it into the bucket.... theoretically anyway! our mouse seemed to prefer eating sponges so never went for the food. thank god for cats

if they're house mice though swampster has a point, you have to get them at least a mile away to avoid them returning and dumping a house mouse outside in autumn will very probably kill it anyway. i was trying to catch mine as it was a field mouse the last dumbass cat had brought home so it would have been happier outside anyway. make sure you mouse proof all the food cupboards before you do anything else and be very thourough about cleaning up food scraps. if they have no food that should keep the numbers down at least.

idontbelieveit · 24/09/2008 14:51

oooh, icecream shaped mash, i can taste it now! What about prunes with custard for dessert?
I've been to docs today cos my asthma's been getting worse and now have new inhalers and got the flu jab (lucky me!). Least it's all free i suppose and now I can't get the flu hoorah.
M now asleep after being really weepy all day, I hope she's not coming down with something. Should be cleaning the kitchen but i'm avoiding housework on here.[bad SAHM emoticon]

MarkStretch · 24/09/2008 14:54

Come on in.

OP posts:
swampster · 24/09/2008 15:00

We don't actually have Aliens love underpants, just all the Simon Bartram Bob - Man on the Moon books, and a board book called Alien Al.

I got a Next VIP slot for the autumn sale . Does that mean I've spent too much there recently?

laidbackinengland · 24/09/2008 15:01

Hello all - just caught up with the thread after a week away. Had a great time in the sun and have got a nice smattering of tan - nay, a healthy glow ! Glad to hear everything ok with you all despite the scares, bleeding and various ailments ....when is it we start blooming again ?!?

I too had my scan yesterday - and everything looks ok. The little rascal refused to uncross it's legs to let us know whether it's a girl or a boy. The sonographer was so patient, but conceded defeat after a while. I have booked a private gender scan for the 2nd October. For some reason I just feel I need to know this time. Maybe this will be my last !

Off to a wedding this weekend in Birmingham. Am 'best woman' and have to do a speech...I have written in but now worried that it's a tres bit risquee ?! Oh well, hopefully everyone else will be too pissed to notice !

Good luck to everyone having scans this coming week.
