Ooh I could!

lardybump · 19/09/2008 19:12

Oh you have made me hungry again.... I have already eaten one take away tonight... oink oink.

MarkStretch · 19/09/2008 19:59

I made a curry tonight and it was rubbish and I was disappointed. Now I want curry even more.

At least the naan bread was nice.

This is how sad I am: After whining about my lack of social life, my friend was sue to come over tonight for lots of tea and cake and chatting.... and I cancelled it so I can spend more time on my memory foam mattress

I have just eaten pasta with very spicy tomato and mushroom sauce (lots of chilli powder).

It was nice but not as nice as a curry .

PinkTulips. Thai Red curry sounds lush - now there's a thought...

pluto · 19/09/2008 21:34

Thank God it's Friday! delicious Chinese for me this evening but also wanting the spicier stuff. I am getting the "are you really 18 weeks pg?" but that's because I'm tiny. Look like 8 weeks. Very boring - perhaps I will explode in a month's time. However, it does mean that I have been able to avoid telling those who have no real need to know about the impending arrival - that way it may drag a bit less later on when no doubt I will feel like I've been pg for 9 years.

Anyone expecting 2nd (or more) DC done any interesting shopping? DS was born 8 years ago but still as we have all the gear I can't really justify spending but it's lovely looking at baby clothes. Don't want to find out the sex so there's even less reason to shop just yet. I must stop being sensible! What luxury baby items are on the market now that you couldn't get 8 years ago?

TinkerBellesMum · 19/09/2008 22:15

Thanks, winemakesmummyclever, scan went fine, baby is doing everything ok and everything is in the right place (seen the stomach, which is good cause of a condition in the family, spine is ok, good cause we have spina bifida in the family), baby was firmly in my pelvis and upright so no chance of seeing whether it is a he or she.

Didn?t see a doctor today, but had a chat with the midwife about my back. She said the doctor I?ll see next week is really into back pain so she will be the best person to talk to. She?s trying to set up an acupuncture clinic for back pain but MW doesn?t know when it will be done for so can?t say if it will help me. I?m hoping she will give me crutches soon; I?m not sure how much longer I can cope with the pain and instability. Tink has a thing about jumping on my back at the moment and keeps kneeing me or sticking her toes in my back and it really hurts. I can?t walk ¼ mile to the childminder?s and by the time I?ve come down the flat stairs I can?t walk much further.

MamaGoose you?re putting down stores for when baby is here to help with breastfeeding. Just console yourself with it being really important to the baby?s future growth! As long as you eat well when baby is born your body will use that up pretty quickly, if you don?t eat right you will add to it as your body goes into ?camel mode?. Love the coincidences! I?m sure it will help you feel very at ease with the birth!

PinkTulips we?re staying at my parents tonight as The Mirror are coming out tomorrow (Mum?s place has more light and space), she went down crying but lay down and asked me to cover her over (still crying) then asked me to give her a kiss! I?ve left the landing light on and she is still in bed. The door is open so she hasn?t thrown herself out of bed! It?s funny, she has always been obsessed with lights, even in the unit she would spend hours watching the lights, one hospital stay they couldn?t get her to sleep because she was watching lights. Found out today I used to take Fenergan as a toddler too because of me not sleeping.

Pluto, haven?t done any shopping, had to sort out Tink?s old clothes as they were still cluttering the flat. Going to wait till we know what we?re having and have some more money ? the fees for the story from Bella and The Mirror; and the grant. Also not sure about buying things too soon as I may go into premature labour, don?t want to buy prem clothes before baby is born because they come in different sizes and I don?t know when the baby will be born.

Went out for a curry tonight, not as nice as the one that delivers to us so I?m disappointed now and want another one soon to make up for it!

thehouseofmirth · 19/09/2008 22:25

I too can't justify buying anything new (until/unless we find out it's a girl!). I have been hankering after one of the new breed of tasteful bouncy chair and whilst I was looking at them I came across this, the perfect device for those parents who don't really actually want to touch their baby here

pluto · 19/09/2008 23:05

lol thehouseofmirth. I'm glad to see that baby items continue to be at complete odds with any possible interior design trends. We have an ancient wind up swing from DS - it was about 6th hand then. A great clunking contraption which has been lent out to several babes in the last 8 years. It's still going strong but takes up the whole of our living room floor. But it's guaranteed to make baby sleep.

dinkymum · 19/09/2008 23:36

Hello, feeling a bit better now! lol but I have had the last two days off work! Hope everyones ok!

MarkStretch · 20/09/2008 08:08

Morning ALL!

How are we?

I am full of the joys of autumn!

I am going to clean my house today and then stroll into the city. Tomorrow my job is clearing out the spare room of lots of work crap paperwork that I no longer need.

My 20 week scan is on Tuesday and I am very excited! Even more so because I get the whole morning off work! I can't to find out what the little squirmy person inside me is. Have been having lots of kicks and wriggles and it would seem standing on my bladder now...

Anyone else thinking 'shit there's a baby in me- that means I've got to give birth one way or another!'

I have decided to try for my desired VBAC.

Half way through!

mumoverseas · 20/09/2008 09:43

Hi, ok if I join in this thread? I'm just over 17 weeks, due 28th February although I will almost have to have a c section 3 weeks early like I did last time with my DD who is now nearly 2. Am 40 (will be 41 when jelly bean arrives) and have two older DC's 15 and 12 so feeling VERY OLD now! Feel very isolated too as living abroad and no ante-natal classes etc so not much chance to 'meet' other 'bumps'. Hopefully this will be my lifeline! I've also got a terrible craving for curry. could eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner!

onwardandupward · 20/09/2008 10:09

welcome mumoverseas -add yourself to the latest list!

And Markstretch - yup, me too, half way today! (Assuming, of course, that the baby arrives on its due date... because obviously babies all know about calendars and due dates and their mothers being impatient to meet them)

swampster · 20/09/2008 13:24

Come to the Facebook, mumoverseas and anyone else who hasn't already. Look for Mumsnet Mums Due Feb 2009 and join -mrsy is the Gatekeeper - you'll have to get past her to get in!

LittleMissNorty · 20/09/2008 14:45

Welcome mumoverseas....whereabouts are you living?

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and had my anomaly scan yesterday....all was well but baby wasn't being very co-operative and the sonographer couldn't see the heart or face clearly, so back for another scan in the next couple of week. Don't want to find out the sex so none the wiser there.

My DD is only 15 months so the only things we have to buy is another cot (already done this) and a double buggy which will probably get after Xmas.

Worked out my mat leave .....finish 19th December 08 and go back.......2nd Dec 09 .....and from Jan DD will only go to nursery 1 day a week instead of 3.....then in Dec next year both of them go for 3 days a week

spottyshoes · 20/09/2008 14:57

Hullo. Feels like I haven't been on here for ages. I am really struggling at the moment with tiredness/SPD/sickness/headaches working full time hasn't helped so dont get on line much and probably wont until I start getting rid of these crappy symptoms

Could someone please be lovely and post the names of the active/water/hypno birth books we all talked about ages ago? I cant find them on this thread and cant be bothered to trawl back through others. TIA

Welcome to newbies and congrats to everyone hitting the half way point

Hope you are all feeling better than me!

winemakesmummyclever · 20/09/2008 15:53

I'm bored!!!

Sat in dh's work office killing time whilst he gets a big hole in his back resutured down the corridor. He had a mole taken off his back about 10 days ago, sutures out this am and it has all popped open again. Lovely . Good job he got it taken off though as testing has shown it to be precancerous. So, anyone oout there with something suspicious - get it checked out!!

winemakesmummyclever · 20/09/2008 16:06

Hi & welcome mumoverseas. Hope things are good with you.

spotty - I think that the blooming phase is an urban myth. Am still knackered, feeling sicky every now and then, and my back/hip problem is just getting worse. Think I shall go and look at some pics of cute babies to remind myself why I am putting my body through this again . Hope things improve for you soon.

MS - I seriously hope that you have abandoned the housework by now and you are chilling out somewhere nice in the sunshine in the big smoke. Hope your scan goes well next week.

PT - hope your back is improving. So difficult to rest up with kids to entertain isn't it?

TBM - ds has a couple of those spooky little ghosty night lights from Ikea that charge up and he puts them by his bed. Pressing the top turns them on and off, so he can easily control whether he wants lights on or not.

MarkStretch · 20/09/2008 16:16

Well day has not gone exactly to plan.

My Dad rang this morning to say my niece has been taken into hospital with pnuemonia so DD and I went up there taking supplies for niece and sister. She had perked up a lot when we got there but they were still unsure if they would be keeping her in for longer.

Then came home and made everyone lunch, walked halfway into town with DD and DH and felt overwhelming tiredness so DD and I came home and went to bed. I dozed for an hour while she watched cartoons.

Ergh. Worn out. And I haven't done ANY housework.

DSD on her way over. Have persuaded DH to bring me a chinese back from the football though

thehouseofmirth · 20/09/2008 17:27

Suddenly realised I'm halfway through too, although I'm only 19 weeks, as I'm having a c-section. I'm still looking tiny on the outside but today I really feel "full of baby". Struggled to carry some shopping back from the local shops this afternoon and suddenly remembering how uncomfortable it all gets later on... I think thet's the thing about "blooming" it's actually relative, it's just the bit between feeling sick and exhausted at the beginning and feeling huge and exhausted at the end!

Spoty if you join the Facebook group there's a discussiion on there about books and I think they're all listed there.

Hello all and welcome to all the recent joiners. Boy - can you guys talk! Looks like there were quite a few crossposts from the Facebook thread as was impossible to track through some bits of the conversation (though may be jetlag had something to do with it)

Got back from my holiday in the States this morning. Holidy was lovely and sunny - was SIL's wedding and we all had a ball and then did some hiking in Shenandoah with DH and DS... lovely. And while I did have some silly woman at the wedding tell me I was small for 8 months pregnant (I corrected her with "no, am 4 and a bit" to which she said "oh!" sort of felt small surrounded by really large americans in some of the places we went to And in keeping with the curry fascination, have just had a lovely curry too (though as am indian, probably inbuilt desire for it taking over...)

Spotty - the books I've just read are Marie Mongan - Hypnobirthing (one with CD) and Grantly Dick-Read (great name!) - Childbirth without Fear. Others recommended Waterbirth Book, Active Birth Book and one other cant recall at mo (is bookmarked somewhere in Amazon though cant be facing a jetlagged amazon trawl).

dinkystinky · 20/09/2008 21:28

Hi biscuitytrousers - I suffer from stiff hips in pregnancy (if lying or sitting for long time or going up stairs from walking) - generally loosens off after a couple of minutes though and as had it with DS not too worried about it but while it lasts I definitely feel like I'm doing a hobble waddle. Pregnancy yoga moves and doing a few pilates moves in the morning when I get up helps abit.

dinkystinky · 20/09/2008 22:06

Right have been on facebook, added picture and details and sent a world of "please be my friend invites" - so pleeeeeeeeeeeeease be my friend as its all your collective fault i have given in and joined facebook in the first place

Spottyshoes - hope you feel better soon!
