I wish i could eat everything in sight... at the moment i'm barely eating anything apart from a couple of pieces of toast! It's not to do with sickness or anything just don't have any appetite. My dh is starting to worry and thinks i'm doing it for diet reasons, but considering i never bothered dieting when not pregnant, i wouldn't do it now. Oh well, here's hoping i get my appetite back soon......

Just wondering how many of you have had your 2nd scans yet? I've got mine on 30th, still seems ages away!

mslucy · 18/09/2008 19:15

curry.

curry.

think I might be popping down to the takeaway in a moment.

Stanley is very quirmy at the moment (very low down, which is where I guess his feet are).

I am very, very tired as have been teaching a group of media students today.

I was thrown in at the deep end - which great as I want to get the experience - but scary to say the least.

They gave me a bit of attitude to start off with, but were delightful by the end.

I am teaching them every Thurs until Dec, which will keep me out of trouble.

mrsy · 18/09/2008 19:37

Anyone feeling really teary and emotional? For the last few days I've felt on the verge of tears all the time. John just got home from work, and then had to go out to his osteopath appointment within minutes, and I feel like I haven't seen him for years...I really miss him!

Might have to order a curry to chear myself up!

mslucy · 18/09/2008 19:47

not so much teary as snappy.

might have something to do with ds's penchant for early starts.

Feel less snappy today as I "slept in" (ha ha) til 6:45, as opposed to 5:45 (Tues) and 6.10 (yesterday).

MamaGoose · 18/09/2008 20:05

I am suddenly into curry - what is that all about?! It's v hard to find here (Spain) but I have managed to find a supermarket miles away that has an international food section with a great paste in it. Am also back on the pasta bizarrely - my complete obession with it in trimester 1 had faded away but seems to be returning.

My own experience of step-families was hell. But I have friends who have step-parents who treat them as if they are their blood parents and have an amazing relationship. I think it comes down to the attitude of the adults/parents, recognising where the problems could arise and a willingness to make it work - you have the power to make it great or crap for all involved. My parents divorced when I was just 6 and my little sister was barely 2. Both remarried. But the problem was that everyone blatantly favoured their own blood children. As a result it never worked and we all bear battlescars as adults (not to mention years of counselling). I made the break when I was in my late teens and haven't had anything to do with either step-parent , nor seen my step-brothers for years (whom I too referred to as brothers when we were growing up). It was like a weight had been lifted when I walked away from it all.

TinkerBellesMum · 18/09/2008 20:23

Welcome soso, please feel free to join us over on facebook!

Kazza, I haven't checked back on that thread for awhile. Still having problems with little madam, she started to settle down about a week ago but now she's not going off again. She slept on the sofa last night and TBD is trying to settle her in our bed at the moment. She just keeps crying and saying "not my bed" but I don't think it is her bed because she is like it elsewhere too. She's not at the childminders at the moment so I'm really getting to the end of my tether with her!

Glad to hear I have started a curry trend! I wouldn't want to be suffering alone.

Rach, I have scan #6 tomorrow and #7 next Friday!

nadssss try sweet drinks or ice water.

TinkerBellesMum · 18/09/2008 20:37

mrsy I've been suffering PMT(!) through this pregnancy, haven't had it for years and never in pregnancy before!

I always try to make an effort with my stepsons. The eldest is very much like his dad and we have a similar relationship to TBD and me in the early days - a lot of banter and teasing. He regularly says "I like to play Claire up" but it's always good humour teasing. His mother's partner though does get played up. I think though I'm the only adult out the four who has a sense of humour as far as they're concerned and doesn't tell them off or be serious. One day they were play-fighting and TBD kept telling them off and to get up. I got annoyed cause they weren't doing anything naughty, so I said "ah, leave them alone" and jumped on top of the pile

I do believe that children are innocent and when there is difficulty between them that it's feeding off of the adults. It's in our power to show them how to get on.

TBD has just come back in, he's put all the lights on in the bedroom (apart from the main light) and been cuddling with Tink on our bed. He said she's ended up facing the bedside light so he thinks it could be the dark stopping her sleeping.

chilledmama · 18/09/2008 20:48

evening all...how are feeling????

swampster · 18/09/2008 21:43

I feel GREAT - just spent a shedload of dosh (that I don't have) on arty stuff for the boys!

MarkStretch · 18/09/2008 22:03

I feel fat and tired. Same as most evenings at the moment!

Morning - where has the sunshine gone that my mother assured me was here to stay for the weekend? I've put my washing in!

Still no real cravings here, but am much more thirsty than usual. Am putting weight on at an alarming rate though.

The dress I ordered for the wedding do tonight is going back - I look like an Amish woman in it . Bah! Shall have to dig out a wrap dress from when I was pg with ds and treat myself to some new accessories instead!

Ds woke up at 06.30 this morning, and the lo woke up too, poking either their head or bum right up by my belly button, as if to see what all the noise was about at such an ungodly hour! Does anyone else's bump seem to move upwards in the night or is it just me who appears to have a free-floating uterus?

TBM - hope that scan goes ok. Hope everyone else is ok and looking forward to a good weekend.

Think I shall request a fab home made curry from dh for tomorrow night. That will help with my stinking cold and it means I can put my feet up for an hour or so .

swampster · 19/09/2008 10:17

It's SUNNY, SUNNY, SUNNY here . I had a lie0in cause the outlaws are in town. They've taken the big ione to school and the little one to the park and now I have to do some work .

MamaGoose · 19/09/2008 13:36

Oh I am huge. My butt is growing at the same rate as my bump. Oh lordy (or should that be lardy )?

I am tired and constantly hungry (hmmmm. possible correlation with previous comment...).

However today I met a Spanish doctor who believes in natural and home birth. Yipppppeee. This is like finding a dodo out here - the land of drugs and intervention. And more randomly, he has just employed a Spanish midwife (another dodo specimen in itself) but who was working at King's College Hospital in London, and coincidentally did my ante-natal care with my last baby who was also a homebirth. Ooooh, spooky but amazing!!!!

MarkStretch · 19/09/2008 13:41

It's sunny here too!

I had an accidental lie in. DD was up at 4am with a nightmare, took a while to settle her and then we all slept in the 7.50- we have to leave the house at 8.30!

So it was a mad crazy rush this morning!

Someone has given us a memory foam mattress topper- it's soooooo comfy and brilliant for my aching bones. Actually I'm kind of blaming that for making me lie in too!

OP posts:
swampster · 19/09/2008 14:46

Memory foam .

Fantastic news about your doc and MW MamaGoose, I've heard a bit about chilbirth the Spanish way.

Off to pick up DS1 from school and meet the outlaws in the posh café - DS2 (2 years old!) DEMANDED to be taken there for hot chocolate.

swampster · 19/09/2008 14:46

That would be childbirth...

DOH!

thehouseofmirth · 19/09/2008 14:49

Is chilbirth a bit like hynobirthing?...

swampster · 19/09/2008 14:54

Even more laidback, I think

lardybump · 19/09/2008 16:56

evening all hope you are well...

thehouseofmirth · 19/09/2008 17:33

Fine thank you! Though slightly sick of people looking at me and saying " are you sure you're 19 weeks pregnant?". But I guess it's marginally better than being asked if I'm expecting twins.

Doe sanyoe know if there's any reason whay I shouldn't do digging ad stuff on my allotment? I'm trying to remember to wear my gloves but apart from that, is there anything else I should think about?

swampster · 19/09/2008 18:16

Animal poo is a big no-no, cat in particular - toxoplasmosis, I think. Gloves and rigorous hand-washing should see you ok. I read somewhere that you are more likely to catch toxoplasmosis from undercooked food than cat poo.

PinkTulips · 19/09/2008 18:29

tink, if i forget to turn the nightlight on and my 2 wake in the dark they get really scared.... i think it's just in built in some people to be afraid of the dark as when they were tiny the nightlight was only ever used by me during nappy changes so it's not like they weren't used to the dark!

everyone at the coffee morning i went to this morning noticed i was preg so i guess the bump seeming bigger isn't just in my head! was nice getting lots of congrats though. had to laugh at my friend though, she kept going on about how big her bump is and tbh, it really doesn't look like a pregnant bump yet, she's a big girl and it really just looks like a roll of fat but she kept pointing it out to everyone going on about how pregnant she looked, bless her

have picked up tha makings of a madras and a thai red curry as well as a ready meal balti for a night i'm feeling lazy so my curry craving should be at least slightly abated after tonight.

roll on physio.... i did something to my back last night and i'm in agony. it was aching while i was bathing the kids and then when i leaned over to kiss ds goodnight something snapped and it's been fecked since. poor ds, i screamed right in his ear when it happened and little sweetie that he is he just gave me a cuddle and asked me if i was ok [awwww] must have looked a sight limping around the supermarket with a big belly and holding my back, lol.

PinkTulips · 19/09/2008 18:35

WMMC, i had to jump out of the bed a few nights ago to run into dd and it felt like my bump was all on the left and high up around the leval of my belly button, lord knows what position baby had fallen asleep in to manage that but it felt incredibly peculiar!

PinkTulips · 19/09/2008 18:47

this week as opposed to tonight.... even i couldn't manage 3 curries in one night!
