Glad you had a good holiday Dinky. My mum has just come back from a trip down the West Coast. PMSL @ the 8 mths pg! Thanks for the tips on the books I will check them out. Is the Hypnobirthing one any good? I was going to book on a course but @ £200 I'd rather look at a book first and see if I can get by with that. Especially as if I end up with another breach baby it will be a waste of money!

Hi Sara, welcome I'm nearly 18wks with my 2nd and felt movement from 11/12 week but it hasn't been anywhere near as much as I felt first time round. Hopefully it means I'll have a chilled out baby!

TinkerBellesMum · 21/09/2008 13:20

Hi Sara, congratulations. I'm sure we have a few northeners amongst us. If you are on Facebook have a look for us (Mumsnet Mums Due Feb 2009) and if you want to add yourself to the map you can email me (tinkerbellesmum at ymail.com) for a link or PM me through the FB group.

MarkStretch · 21/09/2008 16:31

Hi All.

I feel CRAP.

Allow me to list my ailemts.

I awoke this morning with bellyache. Had a listen to the baby and could feel him wriggling around so not too worried about that. Had bellyache all morning. Then realised I can't remember the last time I had a poo.

Thank you for allowing me to share that.

I also have a headache, a terribly tickly throat, a blocked nose which is also running, and an irritating cough.

Blast my Buffers.

Cinders and ashes MS !!

Hope you are feeling better and have had a satisfactory parptastic visit to the bathroom . I too have a stinking cold which I am self-medicating with cups of teas and Haribos (doesn't seem to be helping much though ). How is your niece?

Hi littlesez - I'm nr Manchester. Hope you are getting along alright and your scan goes well this week.

Biscuit - there is a list of who's who on the FB group home page, though I can never keep track myself as have been struck down by the mumdumbs

Ordered the pram today as it is on offer with a free newborn nest - bugaboo bee in red. V. v. excited even though won't get it for months.

Ds has been a monster all day. Think he is feeling a bit under the weather too. Thankfully, it is nearly bedtime. Planning to put my feet up, have a leisurely soak in the bath and just chill out for the night once he is settled.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend in the sunshine .

herbgarden · 21/09/2008 18:34

Hi all - been away from the computer for 4 days as we've moved house. I am officially knackered. I can't unpack another box. We are just about straight. On Friday I got to lunchtime and ended up in tears (with tiredness I think ) - I am one of those people who just goes on and on until utterly exhausted but Friday I really lost the will to live and realised that being pregnant has taken its toll. I also had a very weird middle of the night being sick, but no sick just retching (sorry TMI) but we'd had lasagne for dinner and none of that came up but I did also have heartburn so maybe the Gaviscon?? I was awake for about 3 hours reading and just wanting so desperately to be asleep.

Luckily DH is a "doer" and really wanted to get everything in order before we all go back to work so he's been pretty good all weekend and my parents have been here doing a great job.

Have been feeling a bit tired and tearful tonight - ds has been quite trying today (me thinks he's picking up on my tiredness). My skin on my face also is very blotchy (stress?) - so don't know what's going on there.

Dinky - glad you had a good hols - takes a while for that jet lag to go.

No curry cravings here. Just heartburn post cheese and chocolate which is not great.

Also having stiff hips when getting up a after sitting for too long and also had a fair bit of sciatica from all the bending down into all those boxes.

Getting more and more flutterings and kicks which is re-assuring to feel.Mostly evenings (prob when I'm quiet on the sofa).

Glad the 20 week scans have gone well for those of you who've had them already. I'm off for my scan on Wed and my consultant on Friday. All go here....

Off on hols on Sat for a week to Greece - We soooooo need a holiday - dh is hanging with work being so busy and then moving house. At least we can have a week away from house clearing up !

Bye for now

Of

herbgarden · 21/09/2008 18:38

PS -dinkystinky - you aren't by any chance married to someone called Stuart are you??? I wonder if I know of you from my previous life in London......

dinkystinky · 21/09/2008 19:03

Hello all -Herbgarden, I am indeed married to a Stuart and in real life have a very long first and second name (as you'll see on Facebook)so you probably do know of me from your previous London existence! Hope you have a fantastic holiday, sounds like you need it after the move!! Fortunately am mostly over the jet lag as is DH (and almost through with all the dirty laundry, which I swear multiplies while in the bag on the way home) - fingers crossed DS is too (he woke up last night at 12.30 crying "I want my mummee" but I think it was a nightmare rather than jetlag as he insisted on me leaving a nightlight on when I resettled him in his bed)

Spottyshoes - the hypnobirthing book with the CD is good and a really good start (CD really good for getting into the relaxation/meditation exercises); just remember to keep practicing it (am using the meditation in the middle of the night when I cant sleep; works a treat and have even got DH doing it). I'm also booked onto a course in November - mostly to deal with distancing this birth from the birth of my DS a couple of years ago (which I dont think the CD will quite manage to get me to).

dinkystinky · 21/09/2008 19:09

P.S Herbgarden - in pregnancy yoga today the teacher was going on about heartburn being exacerbated by slouching forwards and encouraging us all to sit straight up and lean back slightly (with hands slightly behind us) to stretch out the oesophagus area - may help with the heartburn. Worth speaking to your pilates teacher about too as she may have some tips.

Welcome LittleSez - just find the last version of the list (a couple of pages back?) and copy and paste, inserting your details and due date.

Markstretch - constipation is pants! Hope you feel much better (or at least emptier) soon - remember, prunes and apricots (and if that fails, lactulose - yuck - should do the trick)... Sorry if TMI but DS has just had bout of constipation (no poos for 6 days running - considering he's normally a one a day toddler was getting v concerned) and stuffing him full of banana and orange juice finally managed to do the trick - or rather tricks....

LittleMissNorty · 21/09/2008 19:09

Hello everone

Had a grotty end to the day....we have just got back from the hopsital sad....I had a bleed for no reason at all....but all is OK with baby smile who started kicking soon after arrival. Got to go back tomorrow for anti-D injection

God it was very odd being back in the labour ward....last time I was there DD came along............

dinkystinky · 21/09/2008 19:42

Oh LittlemissNorty - am glad all is good with the baby but sorry you had to go through that experience. What a horrible scare. Make sure you eat lots of chocolate (for medicinal reasons of course), watch some mindless funny tv and get your other half to pamper you this evening.

LittleMissNorty · 21/09/2008 19:53

Thanks Dinky.....can certainly take the 1st bit of advice with the chocolate but unfortunately its Ryder Cup all evening here ....

MarkStretch · 21/09/2008 20:04

biscuity your dd is goooooorgeous!

What brilliant photos on your profile- is your DH a photographer or something? They are beautiful!

Hi guys, I must apologise as I've been totally rubbish at keeping up with this thread!
Had my scan on thursday and things didn't go as well as i hoped. Discovered that we are expecting another girl which is lovely. She has something called hyperechogenic bowel which means although there's a good chance that everything's fine (85%)we are at higher risk for cystic fibrosis (we're waiting for screening for me and dh results in 10 days)
congenital defects downes/edwards/pataus (decided not to have amnio) bowel disorder (won't know until after birth) a congenital viral disorder/tosxoplasmosis (waiting for my blood tests which will take 2 weeks) and growth restriction so I have to have scans every 4 weeks from now on.....
Feeling rather shell shocked. I am trying not to dwell on the bad stuff as there's every chance things are fine but it's hard not to be worried, could do with some reassurance please!

herbgarden · 21/09/2008 20:27

Sorry about your horrible day LittleMissNorty...this'll make you smile. DH is a big golfing fan. Sky man can't come til next Thursday so we've been Ryder Cup free all weekend much to dh's horror - it means that he's been able to actually help wholeheartedly with the packing rather than sneaking off for a quick peak at the telly every 5 mins !!......

idontbelieveit · 21/09/2008 20:28

toxoplasmosis

LittleMissNorty · 21/09/2008 20:31

Oh Idontbelieveit.....you poor thing .....what a shock.....however, 85% is a huge % that everything will be ok......fingers crossed for you all......Have a {{hug}}

herbgarden · 21/09/2008 20:35

sorry idbi - cross posted - what a worry for you. I know that I have had friends who have had "markers" for certain things at this stage which have proved to be of no consequence but that's all I can say for you. I have also had one friend who had no markers/other indications and had a little boy with cystic fibrosis which was only diagnosed when he was 3 weeks old. You just don't know til you have a definitive answer do you.

Re the growth thing, one of my friends who is 8 months pg and about to give birth has had what they have termed a "small baby" throughout her pregnancy and named a list of things it could indicate (including most of the things you've listed there) and the hospital said only an amnio would tell her for sure. She has had weekly scans and monitoring but in the final hurdle the baby has had a massive growth spurt and they now think it was all a storm in a teacup (sorry that sounds trivial but that's what the GP termed it !!).

I'll shut up now but you can see what I'm saying (hopefully) - keep positive if you can and try to not dwell too much (or surf the internet - that is fatal to get you worrying a lot)...

Keep us posted on progress

dinkystinky · 21/09/2008 20:36

Idontbelieveit - sorry to hear the scan was worrying: as you say, the odds are on your side that everything will be ok, but I know this is bound to be a worrying time for you. On the bright side, you'll get to see your little girl (congratulations on girl no 2!) every 4 weeks and you are being monitored very closely, so if there is any issue it will be picked up very quickly and they can do amazing stuff nowadays. My friend's little girl (2 months older than DS) had toxoplasmosis while in the womb and it was caught v quickly and she and mum were treated and she is absolutely fine now. Please try to live each day for the moment and enjoy your pregnancy, and look forward to meeting your little girl, as much as you can.

herbgarden · 21/09/2008 20:36

oops I meant unpacking earlier post.....too much of packing and unpacking has addled my brain.....

thehouseofmirth · 21/09/2008 21:23

IDBI I'm sorry to hear your news. What a huge worry for you though it really sounds like the odds are hugely in your favour and at least there is stuff they can test for and rule out right now.

idontbelieveit · 21/09/2008 22:07

Thanks everybody, I think i'll feel a bit better once we get the CF results and hopefully at least rule that out. Will keep you all updated, keep everything crossed for me.

pluto · 21/09/2008 22:10

IDBI: thinking of you - with such a high stat for things being OK I'm sure they will be and you'll all be in the pink

I am so tired. Got a tickly cough and throat but nothing to justify the sense of being totally wiped out that's been with me all weekend. And I am so hormonal. And I no longer look just 8 weeks pg. My poor DH and DS.
