I just posted this on the 'Lemoni for a girl?' thread:

I think that's what DS2 has named his 'sister' (who is actually a beach pebble). He is two so it sounds a bit like Yemoni, as in Yittle Yemoni.

He is due a RL brother or sister early next year but I don't think he will have much say in the naming .

Think I prefer Lemoni to Pingu.

The thought of four hours commuting fills me with terror. I can barely drag myself into the office 45 minutes away one day a week at the momente.

swampster · 13/09/2008 22:30

MamaGoose, The new drinking message is annoying, to say the least. In the States it has been that way for ages probably because they do have quite high rates of FAS and a very litigious society. So easiest to say that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.

I'm sticking with what I was told a few years back: If it makes you relaxed and happy, a little of what you fancy alcoholwise is unlikely to do any harm whatsoever.

And almost EVERYONE has done a binge drink before realising they were pregnant. Our children are mostly gorgeous and if they aren't it wasn't the drinking, but it might be genetic and they get it from their fathers.

MarkStretch, Agatha is a totally awesome name for a lizard.

onwardandupward · 13/09/2008 22:32

oh, it was a one-off with the 2 hours each way! My normal work place is 10 mins walk from home

MarkStretch · 14/09/2008 08:17

Morning all.

Got up this morning and opened the back door and it is a lovely sunny crisp autumnal morning and someone has already lit a bonfire. It was lovely.

I hope this particular wave of hormones has calmed down and I can get back to happily pottering around my kitchen making puddings rather than being a ranting, screaming, wild-haired crazy lady.

Today dd and I are off to Irish Dancing again and then making a roast this afternoon.

Also going to Sainsburys to get their free pack of baby goodies- anyone seen it?

Oh and got a closer to nature breast pump in Asda yesterday - supposed to be £25 but was reduced to £10 during their baby spectacular week thing.

When I went to bed last night the baby was stamping on my bladder. The movements were so ferocious it was making me jump!

Morning - im up bright and early and definately with you on the gorgeous Autumnal morning markstretch ... can i just also say that what you wrote yesterday struck a real cord with me as i am in (or nearly in) in the same position as you. Divorced 6 or more years ago and now with DP for nearly the last two but I was a single mum who was fiercely independent (and i was proud of doing such a fab job even if i say it myself of raising three such wonderful now young women) I was at uni having a great time, self supportive, and then DP came into our lives. That was a huge thing after all of us being on our own for so long but luckily hes so kind hearted and fab so its worth it. Have to say though have had the odd moment like you where i feel omg im now dependent on him and a sahm for this year till i go back for my final year next Sept. I also moved us all from Surrey to Wiltshire to be with him (my idea not his though i have to say) It was a huge step and so far so good as its all working out and its a hell of a lot better than the two hour each way commute both of us did 3 times a week for 18 months. Still, like markstretch said, it IS scary stuff! Getting married again after all this time of being a miss will be weird too, nice, but weird. AND i still have to pinch myslef that im having a baby again ... that would never have happened and i was sure i was done with babies but i love DP so much and am so excited about it all it seems like the most natural thing in the world, but if you'd told me a couple of years ago i would be here now i would have laughed, then ran away

Went to a BBQ in Bracknell last night, well as a matter of fact im still here actually as stayed over with DC'S and DP. What a lovely evening that was, oh and i had two small glasses of wine Im with TBM on this one im afraid, there is no actual study (obviously) thats been conducted on how much is too much alcohol in pregnancy and like TBM said women were drinking for centuries when water wasn't safe, I also got horribly drunk on tequila with DD1 and a couple of other times because i didnt know till 10 weeks and shes just aced her GCSE'S so nothing wrong there then! I knew someone a while ago too who works for a drug and alcohol centre and she dealt with alcohol and drug dependent pregnant women all the time and she told me that women (alcoholics) who drink every day and alot (and i mean alot of alcohol) are at risk of FAS and even then its only a one in three chance. I just think like with all things in pregnancy you have to excercise moderation so dont worry mamagoose about getting p*ssed a couple of times before you knew, i also knew a girl at uni who didnt know she was pregnant till she was 6 months and she was out every weekend! Her little boy is three now and perfect (im not advocating this btw just trying to say that babies are tough and i think you dont need to worry as long as you are taking care) The scare tactics that the goverment employ the media to use against pregnant women is shameful and i think denotes that they think that we cant think for ourselves There, rant over.

Im off to Asda later to have a look for that breast pump that markstretch was talking about - this wedding is getting expensive (ive just ordered the invites and its only 9 weeks to go good job they said they would get them back by 27th of Sept!) so im trying to get odds and sods for the baby every week to save having to buy it all at once and £10 for a breast pump sounds like a good deal to me!

rosieposey · 14/09/2008 08:55

Oopps sorry about the mega post!

thehouseofmirth · 14/09/2008 08:57

Good morning! I've been up since 6am in body if not in mind or spirit. Really could have done with a lie-in today but DS had other ideas.

Now the sun's finally come up it's a lovely sunny day and I'm hoping we can have a nice yomp on Wimbledon Common when DH finally manages to rise & shine. Then we're having slow roasted belly of pork. Yum

I knew about the Asda thing but really I can't justify buying anything this time round (though hoping it's a girl so I can buy a bit of pink) as we've got all the big stuff and I'll be BF, and using re-usable nappies and wipes. But am always interested in free stuff, tell me more about the Sainsbury's offer MS.

Father Christmas has been quite wriggly for the past couple of days but luckily no stamping. I do keep getting that thing where I absolutely need a wee right now and then it moves and suddenly I don't anymore!

rosieposey · 14/09/2008 09:12

Ohhh meant to say in mega post that it was my idea not DP's to move to Wiltshire because he has all his friends and family here and i had only been in Surrey for 3 years so i figured it was easier for me and the girls to move, however DP was just as happy to move to Surrey too. Just realised that the way it was written it looked like DP didnt want us to move in together ok thats cleared that up

MarkStretch · 14/09/2008 09:17

It was this one.

I see Mothercare has £5 off it. It is only tiny but I figured since I didn't express much last time it will probably suffice.

It comes with a tupperware type lunchbox which you can shove everything in with a sterilising tablet which I liked as I didn't want to buy a huge steriliser I won't use.

Houseofmirth- to get the free Sainsburys stuff you have to buy a packet of disposables so I guess it won't be any use to you. We're going to start off on disposables for newborn and then hopefully switch to reusables soon after.

Details are here.

I am glad we are all feeling the joys of autumn!

OP posts:
MarkStretch · 14/09/2008 09:20

And Rosie- I think it's massive life events like babies which bring all of those feelings to the surface. For all of DH's faults (!) I love the bones of him and I am so excited to be having a baby with him but it is huge.

He says I need to relax and just 'believe' in us and everything will be ok. I think that's the bit I find hard.

Sometimes I don't think MN helps with the amount of stories I read about cheating husbands! Maybe I should block those while pg!

OP posts:
rosieposey · 14/09/2008 09:51

Lol i haven't read any of those threads (where are they!?) but i am the worlds most suspicious person even DP said when he asked me to marry him that i am the worlds hardest person to surprise (see finding out the sex of expected baby at 16 weeks ) but like you i trust and love him so bloody much but after youve been on your own and done a damn good job of it it IS hard to put all your eggs in the proverbial one basket and trust this person with yours and your childrens lives. Id like to blame it on our hormones but i reckon if youv'e seen everything go tits up once then you are wary of it for a second time - not sure if that ever goes away tbh. Like i said im with you on it being all a mahoosive step but thank god we women are still capable of taking leaps of faith even if it does scare us a little - i have a feeling it will all be well worth it though and im definately going to get one of those pumps today!

winemakesmummyclever · 14/09/2008 10:30

Morning,

Lovely morning here too. Have been avoiding getting up since 6am. Went to a 40th last night and had a pint of Guinness (purely for the iron, honest guv!), and am very distressed to find I have a mild hangover this morning . Arrived at what we thought was the right place to find a 50th in full swing. Apparently, there are 3 rugby clubs in Sale (why?!?)and we were obviously at the wrong one .

Found it eventually due to driving around Sale and spotting a couple of well built and obviously gay guys carrying a present (birthday mate plays on a gay rugby team). Stopped and asked them if they were going to D's party and got directions to the right place (we were just round the corner - isn't that always the case?). It pays to have a good "gaydar" sometimes!

We are off to Hilbre Island to see the seals today, tides permitting. Will have to quiz ds on what he thinks the baby should be called. It sounds like it could be very amusing!

Have a good day all .

PinkTulips · 14/09/2008 18:00

of all you having an autumn..... we're in wet soggy cold midwinter here already!

have been wearing my boots that i got on friday for half price in lidl all weekend to keep my toes warm

told my mother today about baby. well actually dd told her as i was trying to steer the conversation in that direction. she didn't cry this time so marked improvement on the last 2 times

seemed reasonably pleased actually apart from a few 'you're such an intelligent girl i want more for you than endless nappies and breastfeeding' and 'you'll be almost 30 before this one gets to school and you can get on with your life' type comments. erm.... yes, exactly, i'll only be 28 when my youngest child goes to school... that's a good thing in my eyes! anywho... no tears and no stream of abuse so a definite success compared to the other 2

hope everyone else is well, send some of your weather our way soon as we've got tickets to the zoo and are just waiting for decent weather to go... the damn baby elephants going have babies of it's own by the time we get there at this rate!

swampster · 14/09/2008 19:18

You are so YOUNG PinkTulips!!! I think I'll be 44 when this new little person starts NURSERY.

On the plus side, it was the Thames Festival and we have been strolling along by the river with loads of exciting things going on AND it was a sunny day - just like summer!

MarkStretch · 14/09/2008 19:27

I am TIRED.

Don't know why but nearly fell asleep in my dinner.

Have been making a real effort to make DD feel like a grown up today, she had started to do baby talk and 'forgot' how to brush her teeth and get dressed so I thought I better do something before she regressed any further!

Anyway, she helped me make dinner and I gave her a grown up plate and knife and fork and she had 2 yorkshires like the grown ups. Then I even let her make the custard for the crumble. She stood on her little step at the hob and stirred the custard until it was cooked whilst I twitched at the end of the kitchen waiting to save her from certain death....but she was fine and the custard was lovely.

Then she even made her own packed lunch for tomorrow and at the end of it all exclaimed that now she 'felt so grown up it was like she was 18'.

Hi everyone...
I'll be 40 ....when ds starts school and 42 when this one starts...

markstretch - how grown up of your dd to do all that - be you were very proud of her. Very sweet.

I'm sitting here surrounded by boxes and odd things which don't yet have a "home" - still everything has to go so no doubt I'll find a spanner in amongst my tinned food and ds's toys amongst my clothes when we arrive at our new house on Thursday. I hope ds settles in to his new room - bit nervous about that but he'll soon get used to it.

Off to work tomorrow (for a rest !!).

Hope everyone else ok- am feeling very fat (in the bump sense) today. It seems to have grown quite a bit in the last day or so..

Going to bed soon - ds has taken to waking early so I need to get my zzzz's in as early as possible.

Bye all !

MarkStretch · 14/09/2008 20:13

Herb- how exciting- I love moving house!

I too have just been admiring my newly expanded belly. It honestly looks like it has grown in the last couple of days, maybe that's why I'm tired.

Is anyone elses hair falling out more than usual?
