Thought we'd go with twinklytoes suggestion since she's gone and got herself admitted to hospital in a desperate bid for attention .

Have left everyone on the stats for now, but will do another cull of deserters soon....

No, they said call NHS direct!!! They were too busy!!!

ajm200 · 17/09/2008 18:03

OK my plans for resting up have gone out of the window. DH has been delayed and DS is up and into everything.

Star, give the local maternity ward a call and tell them how you are feeling and mention the flecks of light in your vision. That sounds a bit odd. They will decide if they need to see you. Baby is bound to be fine but you'll only worry if you don't check so take 5 mins and make the call.

Lozza, good luck with the induction. Shame we can't swap places, I really want LO to stay put and you need yours to come out.

Sambrads, it could be labour, not everyone finds early labour painful, some miss it entirely and are surprised when baby arrives in a hurry. You need to keep moving without wearing yourself out. Walking, rocking on a gymball, rocking your hips.. anything that encourages baby to move down.. Raspberry leaf tea to strengthen the contractions. Then there's all the naughty things you can't do in front of your LO, sex, nipple stimulation, etc.. how exciting.. fingers crossed for you.

ajm200 · 17/09/2008 18:05

Can you call another maternity unit in your area.. Chertsey maybe?

ajm200 · 17/09/2008 18:07

The joys of NHS maternity care... sometimes they do just get a bit overwhelmed. If only babies would come on schedule. When I was having DS my midwife had to go down to A&E to deliver a baby in the back of an ambulance

star6 · 17/09/2008 18:08

Good idea, ajm... would they be a bit bothered that I'm not with their hospital, though? Or do they not care?

How old is your DS ajm?

ajm200 · 17/09/2008 18:09

Say you are visiting a friend in the area... they don't need to know. Use your mobile

ajm200 · 17/09/2008 18:10

He's 22 months and a real handful at the moment

Ok rang another hospital. They said I'm ok if baby is moving and I'm not bleeding. Didn't know what to think about the stars/flecks of light and said to mention it at my next appointment... well, since I didn't get today's appointment the next one's in 2 weeks! Oh well, hopefully it just means low bp, which I know I have anyway...

Wow 22 months... I just can't imagine how all of you with toddlers do this... I'm sitting on my sofa with my laptop now, doing work for school (and MN, of course!!!), DH is making dinner and I'm feeling exhausted, crampy and uncomfortable.. I just can't imagine having a toddler to look after and entertain... hats off to all of you who are doing it!!

I agree early labour can be unnoticed. I spent the evening playing Scrabble, slept for 3 hours got up for a pee, waters went, 8cm dilated 30 mins later when got to hospital. Baby 2 hours later. Hoping for same again ( in fact thats what my birth plan says, thought I'd keep it short!)

Could we stop with the pudding porn, I was so into the idea of hot stodgy pud after getting off MN last night the cold realities of my kitchen were a disappointment. Having said that I seem to be releasing my inner domestic goddess, I made jam today for the first time in my life. Mainly because the plum tree had a fit and produced kilos of fruit having produced 4 plums per year for last 5 years. I am getting bored at home though especially as DS at nursery. Every drawer and cupboard and file has been sorted. Its probably not healthy.

jenwa · 17/09/2008 19:24

ronshar never had cake, did eat pringles though, would love a slice of cake though now

spink congrats with your pregnancy, it may seem a long way but it will go so quickly. Hope all goes well.

star hope you ok now after your fall, you do really need to take it easy (although I am not the best to listen to as cant take my own advice!)

star6 · 17/09/2008 19:44

LOL at pudding porn!

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/09/2008 19:55

Hello spink. I remember you. Pleased to hear that you only have to wait until January before you have your own baby. Make the most of a relaxing Christmas!

Can we quit with all the drama now please ladies, and just let these babies hold on til their due dates. I have a busy couple of weeks before I'm ready for ds to arrive, as do our builders!

Jenwa, I have a chocolate sandwich cake in the oven right now... couldn't resist after the earlier mention of cake but had to wait for the chickens to lay enough eggs. I'll send a virtual slice over to you when its ready. Sorry Rowan more pudding porn - but there's some for you too

sambrads hope you ok, good pains gone though, you need to keep hold of baby abit longer

I am feeling shattered again, needing to go to bed so will send myself upstairs, DH gone to pub for last orders, he is stressed at mo as his boss been diagnosed with cancer so he is having to do loads at work and sort out what is happening so a beer apparantely makes everything better . Was looking longingly in to his Corona beer he was just drinking here before he went out!

star6 · 18/09/2008 06:52

Ouch Sambrads!!! That sounds awful! I always wonder when they are kicking... if it means they are happy and moving about or unhappy and uncomfortable.
I hope your DH is feeling better after his pub remedy jenwa and enjoy your child free day

twinklytoes · 18/09/2008 07:35

morning all!

did I make the first one? too tired to read up, just managed to read your good wishes on the second of sept -thank you.

so:

Samuel arrived on Sunday September 14th at 16.58pm by emergency cesection. weighed in at 7lbs 4.5ozs and was gestation of 35weeks and 5days.

I did indeed have to stay in hospital - Its not been the best experience and I felt I'd been been better treated if I was sectioned - couldn't even make my own cuppa.

Had two bleeds on sunday - very big so decision made for sunroof exit.

I got discharged yesterday as they were running out of beds but Samuel is in scbu - had respirtatory problems and some early onset jaundice. He's now in an open cot and off the light therapy. need to get feeding established to a proper 4hrly feed and then he can come home.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/09/2008 07:57

You were second twinkly!
Congratulations . That's a cracking weight for that gestation!

Arrivals:

10th Sept (Due 1st Oct) - loulou33 - Boy - Joe Louis David - 6lbs 12oz
14th Sept (Due 14th Oct) - twinklytoes - Boy - Samuel - 7lb 4.5oz
