Thought we'd go with twinklytoes suggestion since she's gone and got herself admitted to hospital in a desperate bid for attention .

Have left everyone on the stats for now, but will do another cull of deserters soon....

sambrads · 17/09/2008 08:39

ksal good luck !!!!!!

ajm was it you that was saying about primrose tablets what are they for???

i am so so tired today i had a lovely bath last night and relaxed but this morning i have woke up feeling awful .

so how is everyone else doing??

last night in bed me and my dh were talking he turned round and said to me " from tomorrow on the count down will be 1 week and 6 days and on sunday it will be down to single figures!!!! i swear i felt like my air ways were closing !!!

cant believe what i have to do just to see my wee girl

ajm200 · 17/09/2008 08:48

Sambrads, how exciting for you. The true final countdown!. Sorry you are feeling awful, these last few weeks are horrible aren't they but I always think that its mother natures way of preparing us for the true sleep deprivation that is raising a newborn.

The EPO contains prostaglandins (excuse the spelling) that mimic the ones that your body produces to ripen the cervix ready for birth so taking EPO can help to get your body ready according to some midwives, check out the articles on homebirth.org for more info. Semen contains more which is why MWs suggest sex for a natural induction.

bethoo · 17/09/2008 09:19

i am suffering with lower back ache and aches in bottom and thighs! now wearing trainers as i can waddle better in them!
less than 3 weeks to go!

bethoo · 17/09/2008 09:19

oh and cant believe we are over halfway on thsi thread! will be another before we all pop out our babies!

jenwa · 17/09/2008 12:55

I have backache today too , been helping out at DD's playgroup this am as now finsished work, and been bending down to all the small children and sitting on small chairs etc and standing over them too. God I need a massage but cant even lye on my tummy!!

Off to see a friend this afty for good catch up so will curl up on her sofa, all good for the back!

ronshar · 17/09/2008 13:05

Ksal, how exciting. I have everything crossed for you.

Feeling better today. I went into town this morning and had to stop three times because of strong pains very low down. I then made a right tit of myself by tripping up over the curb and landing against someones front garden wall. Luckily my car was right there so I got in real quick

AJM, wow look at you and your open cervix. Be careful and watch out for your waters. They could go at any time. Also the longer your cervix is open the higher risk of infection. So no unprotected sex with strangers

Star take care of your self, save some energy for your baby

Popsy you will be fab. Do not listen to us old ladies.

Lozza do you have any thick hand cream? It will help to protect your skin from all the itching.

Rowanmac I wish my DD would get in to bed at that time and go back to sleep. I was smashed in the face by High School Muscical pom poms at 6.30 this morning. By 7am she was bored. Luckily for her she is at nursery now!!

ronshar · 17/09/2008 13:06

Jenwa dont forget the cake. It has magical properties. Some how it makes everything better

ajm200 · 17/09/2008 13:29

Ronshar. I wish I hadn't read your comment about cake. Now I really want some. I'm gonna have to make one now.. a nice big chocolate sandwich cake I think.. [puts chefs hat on and goes to beg the chickens for some eggs]

SmudgeyDoodle · 17/09/2008 13:35

Sorry I'm a bit behind after weekend away
Loulou congratulations and welcome to baby Joe. Glad things are going ok and hope you can take him home soon.
KSal I hope you have your LO in your arms now and that you can tell everyone how great an induction you had (if you ended up with one)
Whoever else has been having shows/lots of BH/BF examining them!!!!!! I hope it all happens at the right time for you and LO.
Just want to gloat that I had a lovely weekend away - an hour long mum to be massage at a spa, a lovely meal and managed to stay up til 1.30 - so didn't disgrace myself at the hen do. Back to real world now and really must go and tidy up!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 17/09/2008 13:52

Ksal hope the induction goes ok for you

Lozza hope things calm down for you too, sorry about the liver stuff

rowanmac i second star, your post about your DS made me so weepy and now I just want to have my baby!!

think I had my first braxton Hicks last night in bed, and few more times in the night enough to wake me from a dream imgining i was in labour already! I really don't want to go over but can't be early cos just accepted a job prancing around with actors for a week in my 37th week....oops!

got horrid pains in my right bum cheek/pelvis which i think is SPD, rubbish - becoming painful to walk around and really hope it won't get worse and prevent me from having my homebirth - anyone know if I mention it to midwives they'll class it as a complication and make me go to hospital to labour?

bethoo · 17/09/2008 13:52

i just want to have this baby now! getting impatient! i have a feeling i am going to go 2 weeks overdue which means 4 weeks sat at home waiting. i am probably one of the most impatient people you will ever meet! i guess a part of me is still finding it hard to believe that there is a baby in there!
i hope all is ok with ksal
wonder if there will be any labours thsi wekeend but we must still remember that it is still early for most of us even me!

Spink · 17/09/2008 14:03

hello everyone - you prob don't remember me but I was on this thread too at the start and wanted to wish you wonderful births and peaceful babies!
I'm on the due in Jan thread now and actually having a baby seems a LOOOOng way off still...
Thinking of you all- good luck!!!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 17/09/2008 14:18

really good luck come January Spink - hope you're having an easy and lovely pregnancy

ajm200 · 17/09/2008 14:22

Mild SPD won't stop you having a homebirth. I was booked for one last time despite being on crutches. They may just be reluctant to let you have a home waterbirth in case you need to get out in a hurry. It may just be babies postition putting pressure on your pelvis and ligaments. Try some OFP exercises to make sure that baby is facing your spine rather than lying against it.

ronshar · 17/09/2008 14:33

Spink thank you for your words. I want to say how pleased I am that you are expecting again and good luck yourself for January.

GWTMH, start crawling around on all fours. It will help to encourage baby into a more comfortable position for you. Takes the pressure off your back/pelvis a little.

Does anyone know of Chiropractic tricks to get baby moving? I am seeing my Chiropractor tomorrow and she told me last time that she has a few tricks up her sleeve! Not sure what they are but we shall see. I shall share when I get home. Reflexology booked for Friday. I should probably get a wax booked as that is the focal point of the whole ordeal

ajm200 · 17/09/2008 15:01

I'll catch up with you all tomorrow as I'm off to bed now. Every time I stand I get really strong pressure down below and period cramps. LO is napping and DH is due home soon. Don't worry, not in labour but I think my body is just crying out for rest.

TTFN

ronshar · 17/09/2008 15:26

AJM oooooo that baby is just ready to drop out.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 17/09/2008 15:51

thanks for tips and reassurance ajm and ronshar...only 6 more days of work so will spend the rest of my time on hands and knees! wasn't planning on a waterbirth so hoping it won't be an issue

Lozza70 · 17/09/2008 17:18

ajm200 good luck sounds like you are just ready to go.

I went to another standard midwife appt this morning and she sent me straight back to the hospital to be monitored again so after an hour or so on the monitor I saw another doctor who has said I should definately have an induction next week. So I'm booked in for Tuesday. I'm a bit disappointed but it does mean that we will see our LO next week with any luck. Still trying all the natural induction methods and DH cannot believe his luck

sambrads · 17/09/2008 17:22

hi ladies went to see doc today she did an internal and said my mucs plug has gone so the show i had on friday was a show!!!!!

she also said my cervix was very soft and very forward and i was nearly 2cm dilated !! she also said that she thought that i would defo go within the week as things very advanced and she gave me a sweep to see if that would help bring things on

i have been having pains on and off now and have been having tightenings every 30 mins then 15 mins now its down to 10 mins but dont think the pain is strong enough to be actul labour

i am nervous now as i want baby to come before next thursday as its ds birthday and think it would be so unfair on him if i had the baby on his special day

any suggestions on getting things going???

doc said walking and hot baths .

star6 · 17/09/2008 17:24

I fell down today!!! I was walking my class to PE and fell down when I got to the top stair on the concrete! In front of them. They all stood there with their mouths open
SOOOOO !!!
I skinned my knee and landed mostly on my hands, but saw stars/flecks of light when I got up all around and for rest of the day off and on. only a tiny bump on the bump. SUpposed to have 36 week check today... I went yesterday and they told me no, its tomorrow... so I went today and the surgery is CLOSED on wednesdays from 12.30! what? Is it ok to miss your 36 week check?

star6 · 17/09/2008 17:32

Do you think I should call someone about the fall? I feel a bit uneasy about it. Baby is moving a bit, I guess as usual, but you know how you can really make yourself worry... I think he's moving less. Really dizzy and lightheaded but I think it might be that I missed breakfast and had a bit of aubergine with noodles for lunch... haven't had time to eat much yet. Maybe if I just eat dinner it will be better. Am I just freaking myself out or should I call hospital? I don't want to sit in the A&E and pick up all the lovely germs... yuck... sorry for the ramble. am a big worrier!

I called the maternity ward at kingston hospital and heard a woman screaming (from what I assume was labour pains) in the background... got really freaked out... and hung up the phone. oh no... I called back and said we must have been disconnected somehow, sorry. .
