Thought we'd go with twinklytoes suggestion since she's gone and got herself admitted to hospital in a desperate bid for attention .

Have left everyone on the stats for now, but will do another cull of deserters soon....

Congratulations loulou and hello to baby Joe how fab our first baby other threads have lots of ppremmies we have done very well.

it is perfectly reasonable to expect our dh and dp to stay sober and not go out on any long journeys during our last couple of weeks after all we have stayed off the booze for months my last night out on the drink was Jan 26th oh gosh what a long time ago that was roll on my next vodka redbull malibu diet coke or archers lemonade how fab .

not much longer now and our little bundles will be here.

star6 · 16/09/2008 13:01

Thanks, Myjob... I needed some sympathy My class is at music at the moment, just resting at my desk instead of preparing for them to come back! ooooh hot bath, good idea. I don't want it to be dangerous... I know you're supposed to avoid hot tubs... what should temp be? Do others take baths?

KSal · 16/09/2008 13:43

Hi all, been a long time since i posted. Have been monitored regularly for high blood pressure and signs of pre-eclampsia for the last few weeks. Was worried they would induce me at 37 weeks (this Friday), but it turns out my body has different ideas as my waters broke at 5 am (all over the place... was a real gush... sorry star6).

I have to go back to the hospital tomorrow morning to start induction, which i'm not too chuffed about, but it is exciting at the same time!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 16/09/2008 13:56

eeeek how exciting - 2nd baby on the way! good luck KSal

ajm200 · 16/09/2008 14:04

Ksal, How exciting! Hope labour starts on its own so you can avoid the induction. Lots of walking and bouncing on a gym ball might help get baby moving down.

Good luck!

KSal · 16/09/2008 14:14

i am moving around a lot... doing all the tidying i should have been doing before the baby arrived! Hopefully that will help!

jenwa · 16/09/2008 14:22

Ksal and lots of sex apparantly!!! that will hopefully avoind induction!!! Good luck to you though.

star early to be tonight I think! Not sure temp of bath but think it should not be too hot due to BP going up and causing concern to baby, I do however have a hot bath as it helps with the varicose vein!

jenwa · 16/09/2008 14:24

ronshar what about plain crisps? The salt can help, you can eat them slowly too.

ajm200 · 16/09/2008 14:25

Getting very nervous and slightly over excited at the same time.

Had a few big BHs at playgroup after picking up DS. No real pain as usual, just loads of pressure and a bit of cramping. My BF was there who is a MW and she got very concerned, insisted I went back to hers so she could keep an eye on me. Couple more arrived while we were having a cuppa. She was determined it was the real thing, I was determined it wasn't.

Eventually gave in and let her check what was happening... as she was so determined that I was really in labour and in denial. I've gone from 2cm to 4cm dilated and my cervix is almost gone. The BHs stopped by 11am if that was what they were, but they were very productive as they only lasted 2hrs..

Have packed my bags and put my friend on standby for childcare just in case but still think it was just BHs. I'm only 35 weeks afterall. Need another 2 weeks so that I don't have to go to hospital until the last possible moment or ideally get my homebirth.

ajm200 · 16/09/2008 14:31

Star, don't have your baths too hot at the moment. It can distress the baby and if you end up with meconium in the waters it could lead to problems for baby and lots of interventions for you. Comfortably warm is what you should aim for. You shouldn't end up red from the heat.

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/09/2008 14:32

Ooh KSal - very exciting! I have a few early baby boys' bodysuits that someone gave me, for up to about 5lb iirc, so if it's a small boy then let me know and you are welcome to them as you're just down the road .

Sympathies to all those feeling rough at the moment, and esp to 4andnotout's dh - hope he makes a quick recovery so is able to help out at this rather strenuous time.

Afraid that I am another feeling sorry for myself today. Woke up with absolutely storming cold, that seems to have come from nowhere. Funny thing is that reflexologist mentioned last night that sinuses seemed bad, but I assured her that they felt fine .

ajm200 · 16/09/2008 14:33

4andnotout I hope your DP is feeling better. The timing really couldn't be worse for either of you.

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/09/2008 14:35

I have my baths about 39 degrees at the moment Star, once or twice a day. Sensing that you might just have a bath thermometer and want a precise guideline .

csws you know me so well!! Thanks all for bath tips

sparklesandnowinefor6weeks · 16/09/2008 14:55

Hi all

haven't read back much today but i hope everyone is ok

I keep having bouts of sickness, was up til 2 this morning being sick its happened quite a few times recently but the midwife can't fit me in til next week!! has anyone else had anything like this?

sparklesandnowinefor6weeks · 16/09/2008 14:58

Ksal i hope everything goes well for you, how exciting!!!

sambrads · 16/09/2008 15:00

oh its all so exciting another baby on the way

as for baths i was told not to have a hot bath as it heats up baby but i also read on the net that a hot bath is ok as it will take an awful long time for your core temperature to rise and heat up baby .

a rule they say is that you should be able to sit straight into your bath as soon as you get in if you need to edge yourself in then its too warm.

something is definately happening with this baby !!!
my belly has gone very soft and has seemed to disappear my bf said to me were the hell has the baby gon e!!!!!

do you think she has moved down more into my pelvis??? maybe she has sneaked out hahaha

ajm200 · 16/09/2008 15:00

Sparkles, I was like that right through my pregnancy with DS so now how awful it can be. There is also a nasty tummy bug doing the rounds so maybe you've just picked up a mild dose of it. They don't warn you that the sickness can last or return in the 3rd trimester. Hope it is better soon

I was like it thoughout the summer this time but it wasn't pregnancy related. Try not eating after 6pm and sipping small amounts of fluids in the evenings rather than sitting down to a nice cuppa.

ajm200 · 16/09/2008 15:03

Sambrads, Maybe she has sneaked out.. if she has, we'd all like to know how. Babies without labour or CS wouldn't that be great! Doubt you've been that lucky though, more likely She's probably dropped down or settled into a nice back to back position that you'll have to shift her out of.

sparklesandnowinefor6weeks · 16/09/2008 16:02

Thanks ajm i'll try what you have said

i never had this with any of the others its kind of thrown me!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 16/09/2008 16:13

ajm let us know who you're feeling hun - didn't realise you could be 4cm dilated and not in proper labour...is the race on for the 2nd october baby?!

ajm200 · 16/09/2008 16:21

I think these measurements are subjective. One MW 3cm is anothers 5cm. I'm so determined to hang onto this one for another 2 weeks so I can have my homebirth that I'll spend the next week standing on my head if it will help.

I think you can wander around in this state for weeks without going into labour. My friend is just very keen for me to have this one and wants to deliver it. She can't deliver it if I have it at home as she is only insured to deliver babies on the ward so she is wishing labour would start.. I'll be fine - in fact I bet I go overdue. Most likely thing to happen will be my waters popping before labour according to my regular mw as there is room for the bag of water to drop down and get squeezed.

Got excited earlier but have my sensible rational head on again now and am ignoring any sensation between my boobs and knees.
