Thought we'd go with twinklytoes suggestion since she's gone and got herself admitted to hospital in a desperate bid for attention .

Have left everyone on the stats for now, but will do another cull of deserters soon....

so... turns out there's a delicate balance between the apple and the crumble... I've made way too much crumble... guess I can't bake after all

07mumstheword · 15/09/2008 21:06

Annwoo That doesn't sound too bad manageable sounds good

Sambrads that sounds awful

hedgepig · 15/09/2008 21:13

Star i prefer more crumble than apple so can I have some??
Congratulations loulou well done, hopefully you will get home on Friday and you are managing to get some sleep your self.
Nothing exciting happening here, i suppose I should pack a bag (37 +2) but it seems like too much effort.
AJM I would suggest that is DH can't take of any time for paternity leave maybe he could do all the getting up at night to help out

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/09/2008 21:47

Virtual crumble sounds good. I also prefer the crumble part.

Not been induced before mtw, and still hoping it won't come to it this time tbh, but I've read lots of induction stories on MN, and it seems to be swings and roundabouts as to whether it's better than labouring naturally or not.

OP posts:
jenwa · 15/09/2008 21:47

I've been booked in for induction at 41wks if nothing happening but am now thinking against that! Am soooo hoping it comes early, quicker than DD and NO Stiches and home the same day and be back in a size 10 or even drop a size for fun and back to the real world......

star mmmmmm, crumble......mmmmm....

jenwa · 15/09/2008 21:49

Ninja thanks for your wishes. I bet its strange seeing all your ladies having babies now? It does not seem that long ago we all started finding out!

jenwa · 15/09/2008 21:52

CSWS I imagine its like normal births too as everyone is different so I suppose its just how we labour etc. I blamed the rasberry leaf tea for putting me in a long labour last time as maybe body not ready but who knows, prob just my stubborn DD not wanting to come out

Its like the curry meaning it will help baby arrive, I wonder how many people would have had a baby the following day anyway. They say curry has no effect. Only sex and nipple tweaking....eek!

Emmsy1 · 16/09/2008 01:41

Congratulations loulou thats a great weight, my biggest baby was 6lb 13oz and she was born on her due date!
ninja thanks for popping in from the September thread and wishing us all well, good luck to you too

my MW appt was yesterday, 34wks +4 meassured 31cm, told MW I was starting to worry a little about size as 2nd baby was under 5lb, MW said thats my size is ok, but to remind her about in 2 wks about my concerns and she may send me for a growth scan if baby hadn't grown. No signs of protein in urine this time and blood pressure now 108/60. I asked MW if I could have a swab taken soon to see if I was still showing + Strep B as didn't want to panic about getting to hospital for antibiotic drip when I go into labour (as supposed to have 2 lots within 4 hours from start of labour)She said that they do not test anymore they just give the antibiotics if a lady has ever tested ++ just to be on the safe side! MW also gave me 2 swabs to test for MRSA, she said they are trying to keep it out of the hospital and are testing all their ladies!?? one swab is for up my nose and the other is for the groin area?

Sambrads hope your labour isn't as bad as last time. My 3rd & 4th labours were agonising(and I wasn't induced!) the baby was lying with its back facing my back, spent alot of time on my tiptoes, begging for them 2 break my waters I knew that as soon as they did that I would deliver.

sambrads · 16/09/2008 08:37

i didnt tell my story to scare you all just wanted to make you aware that it can be quite hard when things are not started natural!!
loulou will be puttng her birth story on soon im sure and she will tell you of her experience

12 hours can be normal for 1st labours anyway so not just induction. as soon as i left the patronising mw on the ward and was taken to MLU at 9.00am i took a panick attack as i was in so much pain. the mw that was in charge of me in MLU took my hand and said you are going to be ok i am going to look after you as soon as she said that i was fine . she asked me what I wanted to do and i had the best birth experince ever

yes it was still sore when i got to MLU but to have support from a mw and to know that they will do what you want is a big thing.

my dh gave her my birth plan and she followed it word for word .
i delivered ds on my hands and knees with just gas and air i had no stitches and he was 8lb 4 oz !!

ladies as someone else said everyone is different and you could have a quick labour or a slow one hopefully this time it will be quickier for me

just focus on that we face you will see at the end of it all

ajm200 · 16/09/2008 08:39

Star a quick note to say I've got your mail. Tried sending the file to you this am but it is 10mb and is taking ages to scan and attach and I'm due at playgroup with LO so I'll give it another go this pm.

I'll catch up with everyone elses news then too.

4andnotout · 16/09/2008 08:50

Hi everyone, i havent been online in absolutly ages so cant go through the whole thread to catch up
Im now 34+2 have been having scans every fortnight for the last 6 weeks as the water level has dropped, her growth is fine though as she is on the 50th centile so far and was estimated at 4lb2oz at 33 weeks so hopefully she will be a nice size I have been diagnosed with eczma in my groin and vulval varicose veins which is pretty uncomfortable but my dr gave me some soothing creams which have helped a bit!
Dp was rushed to hospital last night with a suspected heart attack but it looks like it might be a bad angina attack, so we are now in limbo with him in hospital and me at home with the girls. I havent sent them to school and playschool incase he has to stay in again and then i can take them up at visiting time. Dont know what this will mean about him going back to work, if he will still be able to do the same job or if he will have to time off, he has had 3 problem free years and then this comes at the worst time!
Sorry for rambling!

07mumstheword · 16/09/2008 09:17

Thanks for all your experiences/opinions about induction it does help. I think you're right we are all different and as CSWS said it's swings and roundabouts so I will just wait and see and be guided by the experts

4andnotout So sorry to hear your DP was rushed into hospital. I hope he is ok and allowed to come home soon. Ramble all you like.

sambrads · 16/09/2008 09:39

4andnotout thats awful about your dh as you said its come at a bad time but hoe he is ok and will be ok for little one coming

2 weeks to go today cant believe it !!!!!! the doc said i would go early but not to sure now fee like there is no room left for her to grow as she seems to be right at the surface of my belly its these last weeks that they put on half a pound a week so im starting to worry have the doc tomorrow and the mw on thursday so will see whats happening cant wait to meet her now the pink things are starting to gather dust and i cant wait to tell everyone its a girl as only me and dh and of course you ladie sknow!!!!

cant believe i have kept it a secret for nearly 5 months!!!!

jenwa · 16/09/2008 09:40

4andnotout hope your DH is ok, poor all of your family, what a stresful time.
I also have the varicose veins so can sympathise with you, was not given any cream though! Hope things all work out and like mumstheword said ramble on! thats what we are all here for

bethoo · 16/09/2008 09:41

ajm have you tried changing the format of the file so that it is not so big? possibly to word? hth with reducing the size. sorry for being nosy!
4andnotout best wishes for your dp

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 16/09/2008 10:04

i'm feeling right down in the dumps today - tired and have a cold and a cold sore and missed ym train and the commuters on the next train were all mean and didn't give me a seat and by the time I'd realised they really were just going to stare at me and not offer it was too late and I was too embarassed to ask...AND i had to pay for my cup of tea that i usually get free with a chocolate croissant (clearly a spoilt pregnant woman!)

someone cheer me up please....

ronshar · 16/09/2008 10:10

LouLou Congratulations to you and DH. Looking forward to pictures.
What a fantastic start to the October babies.

4andnotout. How dreadful for you and DH. I hope he makes a very speedy recovery.

Star you really need to send me your crumble. I much prefer the crumble to the apple.

Bethoo a blind date??? Spill the goss.

I had an induction with DD1. Sorry but it was shite. 27 hours. Baby was back to back. Stuck on the bed being monitored the whole time. Constant contractions, epidural which didnt work very well(you can get windows of pain), ventouse delivery. Rubbbish. However DD2 was 8 hours, all at home, only a tens for pain. Delivered on my knees 10 mins after waters broke. It was a beautiful experience.
Having said that I know a girl who was induced and had a 2 hour labour with no pain relif!!!!! It is so indivdual that you can never plan for what will happen.

I am in my bed today. I started being sick yesterday afternoon. feel like death warmed up today. DH took DD2 for an extra day at nursery. Poor thing she thought she was going to get a day on the sofa with mummy watching DVDs. At least I dont have to watch Barbie Fairytopia again.

Hello to eveyone today. Hope you are all well.

AJM, your DH sounds a bit like mine. I just ignore it and carry on regardless

star6 · 16/09/2008 10:37

this crumble is seriously bad for your health. I always put in a quarter of hte amount of sugar that is called for in any recipe (not that I bake a lot... something i picked up from my mom from childhood). But clearly didn't follow that this time... try some of it and you'll be off sweets forever, guaranteed!
4andnotout I hope your dp is doing better today. How stressful for you!

I'm getting weird sudden cramps and painful wind...???? Good think the kids in my class are so lovely...

bethoo · 16/09/2008 11:01

ronshar i met him on facebook of all places, in fact i have met alot of guys but ahve been too aloof to meet due ot cinrcumstances but thsi one became my friend and knows i am pregnant and would stilll like to meet up. he is giong through a divorce and has two little girls so the whole kiddy thing does not phase him. in fact met two other guys too who are also aware of the pregnancy and are still interested so feeling more optimisitc that i will not become lonely cat lady!

star6 · 16/09/2008 11:05

Oh this is so exciting!! A blind date! October must have the juiciest thread on the antenatal section
Maybe get your ex-dp to babysit when you go?

My belly is itching. A bit embarrassing to scratch!!

star6 · 16/09/2008 11:06

Ah! Just re read my post! Good THING, not think!

bethoo · 16/09/2008 11:08

oh god no i am no longer requiring his services as a carer! cant bring a man back when your ex is there! anyway he and his mother are being dam right horrid to me so i am no longer gong to bother with the pair of them. i sound childish but i have bene a door mat for too bloody long! once this little one is out i am going to reclaim my social life and meet genuine nice guys. it will be hard having to have sex with hunky men but i will perservere!

star6 · 16/09/2008 11:16

LOL at the image of lonely cat lady!

ronshar · 16/09/2008 11:42

Good for you love. I would leave your xdp to fester with his mother while you go out and have wonderful sex with hunky men

Star, the more sugar the better with crumble. I love Rhubarb best as the suger mixes with the juices round the sides.
OOOOOOOOOO I am actually making myself feel sick again.

Does anyone know of any good things to make me feel better? I cant have water, I have managed a cold glass of flat lemonade. All my favourite hangover recovery aids just make me feel worse at the thought!

hedgepig · 16/09/2008 12:01

4andnotout I hope your DP is feeling better today and that you will get some more information from the hospital as to what to expect.
I'm writing my birth plan and going to sta packing my bags today. Except I keep wibbling on the internet.
