Thought we'd go with twinklytoes suggestion since she's gone and got herself admitted to hospital in a desperate bid for attention .

Have left everyone on the stats for now, but will do another cull of deserters soon....

Congratulations LouLou. Sorry you had such an intense labour but you should be proud that you managed on gas and air.

Take care!!

Well done loulou welcome Joe - good weight too!
Bet you can't wait to get home.

jenwa · 15/09/2008 16:33

loulou Congrats and especially for being the first one . You sound sooooo brave, I did not think it was meant to hurt so much 2nd time round..... but well done with just the gas and air.
Lovely name and a good weight.

Love to you all and hope he will be home soon.
xxx

sparklesandnowinefor6weeks · 15/09/2008 16:47

loulou congratulations I hope you have baby Joe home with you soon x

ajm I don't know what to say i feel very and for you about what your DH said. It doesn't matter whether its your 1st or 5th () he should still be there to support you, each child and each labour are very different! Tell him that as he's being vague and non-commital about it that you have chosen another birthing partner and get your family to come and stay with you to help if you can after the birth

WheresTheAuPair · 15/09/2008 17:19

loulou congratulations! Ouch on the syntocin- I agree they were agony -glad for you that the labour was relatively quick.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 15/09/2008 17:38

huge congrats loulou - glad you're all back at home and bf is going well!

just been skimming everything else - ajm rubbish about DH, tell him off, naugty man! CSWS you're house is gorgeous and massive...coming from another person whose 2 bed flat is the size of your dd's playhouse!

just had our last weekend away as a childless couple which was wonderful...taking a day off work to do some research for another potential job for next year but just want to bake cakes!

bethoo · 15/09/2008 17:48

congrats loulou good weight. hope t osee pics on profile soon
saw mw today and liver is struggling working extra hard so got to keep out for itchy hands and have aneamia now so on iron tablets, never took them last time as terrible for taking pills! blood pressure is back to normal. baby is still engaged but no further than last time.
star6 of your lovely bump, mine is all you can see! i am just a stick stuck to the back of it!

Congrats Loulou!!!!!!
Well, I felt truly TIRED today at work for the first time... I've felt tired, but this is exhaustion. My class is So sosoooooooooooo good to me, though. I feel very fortunate. These 5-7 year olds are such a special group of kids.
They are very helpful, too - picking things up off of the floor...etc.
DH has a bad cold now.
He just told me colleagues are having a poker night friday after next (I'll be 38 weeks)... what do you think? They drink there... I just dont want him anything but completely sober when baby is born. Not like he drinks a lot at all, but well, maybe i'm being unreasonable!

AJM - you are not being unreasonable at ALL!!! Does your DH work at a bank by any chance? Wow... feeling sorry for anyone in this situation today and henceforth... Did you get my email by the way?

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/09/2008 19:39

Congratulations loulou! How exciting to have our first Oct baby .

Booked my induction today for 6th October if things don't happen naturally before then.

07mumstheword · 15/09/2008 19:47

Congratulations Loulou I was hoping it wouldn't be so painful 2nd time around So good to hear you should be home soon with your son.

Star I worry about DH being drunk or hung over at the birth but hopefully all our getting together with friends will be over by the end of Sept (we've had so many friends and family wanting to get together before the baby is born, almost like we won't be going out again! we already have one DC so not sure what that is all about ) and the last couple of wks of my pregnancy I'm staying in and DH not to drink

ajm200 · 15/09/2008 19:49

Star I didn't get your email. I thought maybe you had second thoughts about using the track. i've checked the address I'd given you and it is right. The amandaj is all one before the . and phillips is with two Ls, do you want to try again.

mum2jakeyroo · 15/09/2008 19:52

Lucky you CSWS, my mw has refused induction until 12 days over unless something is wrong. Congrats Loulou and Joe. x

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/09/2008 19:59

Mine is because of the diabetes jakey. They like to induce on due date, so I am doing well to be allowed to go over.

Just saying 'Hi' from the September thread - glad you've started to have babies (although the wait seems even longer then!).

We're not quite half way through out list yet but getting there!

Good luck to you all.

star6 · 15/09/2008 20:10

ajm - ok i've tried again...
is it yahoo.com or yahoo.co.uk?

07mumstheword · 15/09/2008 20:17

CSWS Have you been induced before?

I'm due to see consultant a wk Thurs who may discuss inducing me and I've heard that it is far more painful than allowing things to happen naturally. I know I can refuse but I was wondering if anyone has any wisdom to share with me?

star6 · 15/09/2008 20:29

I've just baked an apple crumble following my evening cleaning routine... how long does this "nesting" last? I always clean, but have never, ever baked or cooked... DH does ALL of that in the kitchen. I hope the baking urge keeps up after the baby is born! I've also baked brownies from scratch (not from a box!! Miracle!) and cookies... I don't eat any of it, but might eat the apple crumble - it's from apples we picked on Sunday.

bethoo · 15/09/2008 20:33

finally got the motivation to order my double buggy and it is decided, i have ordered the new phil and teds vibe! quite excited!
i was induced and it was painful but cant compare as my only labour! it was fast and intensce though with no gaps between contractions.

07mumstheword · 15/09/2008 20:42

Bethoo Decision made on your Phil & Teds you'll need it soon Thanks for info about induction my first labour was like that intense and just 4 hours and it came on naturally. I think maybe I should just accept it's going to bloody hurt no matter how it happens

Star Delicious apple crumble and custard would just hit the spot right now

annwoo · 15/09/2008 20:47

07mumstheword I was induced on second (natural labour on first) given gel 1pm on Friday and had dd 8.30am Saturday. The contractions didn't have the build up like natural, they were more intense but manageable. Unfortunately although I had contractions I wasn't dilating so at 1am still on 3cm!

When they had space in labour ward, took me through broke my waters and dd born an hour and half later. (Wish they had done this sooner).

Think it depends what you have to start induction ie gel, drip
on how severe contractions are.

heather1980 · 15/09/2008 20:47

no it has to be apple crumble and vanilla icecream mmmmmmmm

sambrads · 15/09/2008 20:54

CONGRATS LOULOU OH SO HAPPY FOR YOU HOPE YOUR OK AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING WEE JOES PHOTO ON YOUR PROFILE

mumstheword i was induced wth ds so i am hoping this time that i wil go myself. i cant tell you what the difference is as i have only been induced but i can tell you my own experience

i went into hospital 10 days over ds due date. Mw took us to the ward at 9pm were they hooked me up to the monitor to see what the baby was doing. At 10pm they inserted the gel and left me it didnt hurt and i just lay in bed .
My dh left me at 12 to go home to bed and let me get some sleep (so i thought)!!
at 12.10 i started getting really bad pains in my back they were so bad icould not stay in bed and went to see the mw and she told me to be a good girl take 2 paracetamol a sleeping tablet and go back to bed !!

by this stage i was crying as i thought wh a patronising bitch!!!
another younger mw seen how upset i was and ran me a bath . by this stage i was in agony there was no space between my contactions at all so the breathing i learnt at the classes went out the window !!

at 2.30am the mw asked if i wanted dh to come back over and i was never so glad to see him he was shocked at me lying there sucking on gas and air cause when he left me i was fine !!

i felt that i had just one contraction from start to finish and as lou lou said it is madness and very sore .

i had ds in an MLU at 12.12 so i was in labour for 12 hours .

induction is hard as its putting your body into labour but i am sure going into labour yourself is just as bad also i had back labour which is ment to be even worse!!!!!

annwoo · 15/09/2008 21:01

Wow Sambands - sounds like you had an awful time! Just shows you everyones experience is individual.

Must go and pack my bag now - it's all getting a bit too real!

star could you send over some of that apple crumble please.
