Thought we'd go with twinklytoes suggestion since she's gone and got herself admitted to hospital in a desperate bid for attention .

Have left everyone on the stats for now, but will do another cull of deserters soon....

Hobnobs all gone shows how stressed I must have been...normally they make me cough! lol. House is a bloody tip as well so muct get off my butt and tidy up - I NEED an Aupair today!!

ajm200 · 10/09/2008 14:04

Loulou, hope all is going well at the hospital. Can't wait to hear about your new baby

Off to see the MW in a couple of hours for my 34 week check. It was supposed to be a home visit this time to book my homebirth but the midwife I was last time decided not to book me until 37 weeks when they will deliver all the stuff at the same time. Seeing the head of the community team so I hope she doesn't decide to do the home visit anyway this PM as the house is a tip, toys everwhere. I'd have to do mad dash to get tidied up I'm sure she's going to tell me that the baby is back to back as I've had terrible back ache since last night also starting to wonder if my waters are leaking a bit. Keep feeling a trickle and a bit damp so I can't believe it is just normal discharge.

DH is home and moaning non-stop. Complains every time my backside hits a seat and wants to know what I'm gonna do next. So tempted to throw something at him and storm off to bed. I've been ordered to rest by 2 Drs and the MW so far and he just doesn't get it.

DS's speech seems to have really improved over the past few days. He demanded dippy eggs for breakfast and also told me that he luv luvs baby - so sweet.

Hope everyone is well and getting lots of rest. Back later to let you know how I get on.

bethoo · 10/09/2008 14:58

just a quick hello as lo asleep and if he stirs and realise that i ma not there he will scream the house down!
got some maternity pads for 79p from Wilkinsons, a 12 pack, maybe i should have got another pack!
went into town with my mate who is almost 30 weeks and she is so tired all the time, it is weird as you would think it would be me waddling behind puffing and panting bless her . it is nice as she will be on maternity leave same time as me so this time round i havea another mum to sit at Strbucks with with a newborn! will drive me mad having to stay indoors all day esp with a toddler too!
well off to bed now even though not really tired but may as well make the most of it while i can!
hope loulou is ok and things going well and sambrads is sitting at home with feet up

annwoo · 10/09/2008 15:28

bethoo paid 515 for mine (just looked at receipt) with double and rain cover included. Shops want your business so umm and ahh about purchase they can afford to give some discount.

Shopping basket - can hold the double raincover, change of clothes for ds, portable potty and a bag of shopping. When baby is lying down less access to basket but can use zips either side to raise baby a little and this will give you better access.
Have two 'happy mummy' velcro strap hooks on handle bar to hang shopping either side dd in double seat doesn't have a great view when I do this but only for short journey - and a skip hop saddle bag on the side (which isn't huge)
Hope this helps.

wherestheaupair have the e3 and the vibe - the vibe wins hands down.

Went for growth scan today - all okay not holding a swimming pool - mostly baby.

jenwa · 10/09/2008 17:23

ajm I would throw something at him, like a pile of washing and say "do that whilst I go and rest"

Been to hospital today, placenta moved and they think I will be fine for normal delivery. Am scared though as DD was born at 41 wks weighing 7lb 3 1/2oz and this one measures 5lb12oz already so if went over could be top of an 8lb!!!!! They said that my body will prob start to labour early as previously had a 7pounder so will prob want to push out around same stage! Never heard that before but it makes me feel happier although still not ready for baby to arrive yet! Measurements of baby are 37 wks too rather than 34!!! The consultant was away but the man I saw was so lovely and was very truthful about everything and gave me lots to think about. Will go for normal vaginal delivery anyway unless things get complicated.

star not sure about anyone else but I never found boots own nappies very good, they leaked alot with DD. Tescos were my fav. Everyone different though.

Have got everything of my list now just need to get blankets out and wash car seat and swing cover and sort pram, also need to find my cosy toes, I did have 2 but cant even find 1!! Will have to buy another but think I am sorted in the buying dept. Just DD'd b'day pressie left now and pressie for baby and other b'days in the next few months!! There are do many days I do not want baby to arrive but I cant do much about that

bethoo · 10/09/2008 17:35

gosh that is reasonable as mothercare charge 449 for the single then the extra seat is 80 and i dont know if rain c2overs a2re included. ds had his finger on the number 2 key! will have to go..

star6 · 10/09/2008 18:03

dh made me buy earth friendly biodegradable nappies... not sure the name but you see them all the time... I hear they are awful... we also have reusables. I think I'm going to go to tesco, get a stock of nappies and store them in the boot of my car for when desperation hits!!!

star6 · 10/09/2008 18:04

getting a sharp pain... like a needle going down to my cervix?? whenever baby wriggles. It hurts. a lot. Is this an infection or is this something everyone else is feeling? I really don't think I'll cope with labour pains... feel like I need a portable morphine drip to tow around with me now...

star6 · 10/09/2008 18:26

jenwa I feel the same! NEED MORE TIME!!!
Good for you, though getting all of that sorted!
Wow, 8lbs, that's great! Does the baby feel heavier than last time now?

annwoo · 10/09/2008 18:43

bethoo see if there are other stockists in your area rather than using mothercare as they are always quite expensive.
Pop your post code into website for the distributor for p & t.
www.outnabout-atp.co.uk/
Can't negotiate mothercare prices down.

star6 · 10/09/2008 19:20

also, www.gumtree.com is a great place for second hand pushchairs/buggies/prams at great prices. Sometimes they are brand new, just received as gifts and people want to get rid of them.

annwoo · 10/09/2008 19:41

star you can pick up some bargains on gumtree but it is also used by some scammers especially for phil & teds. A couple of people on mn have lost money to someone selling the dash and vibe on gumtree. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1012/583266

Thanks myjobismum! Feeling better about that now. I just really wanted to hear that it has happened to someone else!
You know how they do the birth control patch? You think they do a pain relief patch?

star6 · 10/09/2008 20:23

myjob - do you have a long torso or is the baby just really low down?

star6 · 10/09/2008 20:44

myjobismum - I have a variety of reusables. I like the bambino mio prefolds idea within a wrap the best. I also got some really cute ones from ebay that velcro and just need a wrap over them. I'm going to try to use them as much as possible... but someone said they don't work with newborn poo?? Which type did you use? What age did you start using them?

Yep! That's me going for the epidural as son as I arrive at hospital! TBH I don't think anyone will be able to put up with me once the pain starts... they will be asking ME if they can give me the epidural - dh is SURE of this!

I am 5ft 2inches tall also - and short torso, so just couldn't imagine there being space for baby to "drop" anywhere

ajm200 · 10/09/2008 20:47

Jenwa, Good news. You must be relieved.

Star, those stabbing pains are normal, just your body getting ready but they are awful aren't they.

I hope Loulou has had her baby and had the birth that she wanted.

Saw the MW today, baby still not engaged but is very low. BP is rising which is a worry considering my PE last time. Have another appt in 2 weeks to check it again. Hardly surprising it was up after DH has been such a jerk all day.

ajm200 for you!!! Why is your dh being a jerk?

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/09/2008 21:21

Great news re placenta Jenwa.

Sympathies re dh ajm. Mine gets a lot bit like that too, but he swears that he does 'get it' when I accuse him of not .

star - dh thought that I had a low pain threshold and would be awful in labour, but he was very surprised by how well I coped. You might just surprise yourself and your dh.

WTAP - I struggle with taking dd places at the moment too. She ran out of the store and across the car park whilst I was paying for groceries in Waitrose last week, and I had to abandon my trolley (complete with my handbag and purse in) and charge out to get her and carry her back in kicking in screaming. Wasn't fun.

myjob - for 6 hours sleep in one stretch. 3 hours is a good run for me at the moment.

Finally managed to find a blanket that I like today. Popped into jojo quickly to get dd a light, and spotted one with orange stripes in it (wanted just plain orange to go with stripey orange based buggy) - the one on the right here. It's lovely and soft .
Got dd one of these in a cat. It changes colour every few seconds, and she went to bed tonight holding it and saying the new colour every time it changed! She was quite fascinated bless her .

bethoo · 10/09/2008 21:24

is anyone else finding it painful when lo moves? especially if i am lying down i have to physically push her in as feels like she is pushing against me and coming through the uterus even though i know it is not! i can almost see outline of body parts!
thanks i will go to the specialist baby shop in town and talk about the vibe with discount!

jenwa · 10/09/2008 21:25

star yes this one feels bigger, it also moves alot so think thats why I feel it more. Am def bigger this time though and feeling heavy! Also did ROFL with your descrition of a long torso to myjob just a funny expression.

Its strange as when I went for scan the man said the baby's head was down in the pelvis, I asked if it was engaged and he said you cant tell from scans and MW knows from feeling it. I thought you would be able to tell everything from a scan seeing you can find out sex, placenta probs, heart beat, see the cervix etc.

I asked about water birth today but they said that they would prefer not as they would want to monitor me but they cant stop me if I want one I would just have to keep getting out to be examined, not my idea of relaxing!

jenwa · 10/09/2008 21:29

bethoo I would not day its painful but more uncomfortable at times. Just told DH its like being on a rollacoster and I feel I need to hold on to something. Limbs popping out all over, I am sure its an octopuss but no extra limbs seen at the scan!

CSWS Loving the light and the blanket.
I bet though that now you have a blanket you will see loads of orange ones! Always the way!
