i had so much energy yesterday i woke up and got stuff done cleaned the house made a robot with DS and was generally mum of the year, now today i feel like someone has replaced my brain with cotton wool. DS is happily amusing himself and i have yoga this afternoon while he is at nursery so hopefully it will pep me up a bit.

I did stay up a bit late reading some of the chapter i need to read for next week for my course so that might be why i'm a bit tired. surprisingly i don't feel like a coffee but think i might have one for medicinal purposes.

has anyone elses sense of smell started being a bit more senstive again, i can smell everything again like i could in 1st trimester.

rosmerta · 23/09/2008 11:45

summer glad everything's ok

veggie I'm planning a really quiet day today as well. Ds in nursery this morning so I'm doing the washing but other than that not much else. Will probably stay in this afternoon as well, maybe get back in my pjamas!

luckily i can wear my fav tracksuit bottoms to yoga, i wear them round the house all day they practically feel like i am in my PJ's all day.

i just burst into tears listening to 'Cats in the cradle' on the radio. and just now DS came in and gave me huge cuddle and told me he loved me, he is such a sweetie, i'm going to miss him so much when he starts 5 mornings a week at nursery next Jan but keep reminding myself i will have another to cuddle and will be good to have the time to spend with him.

rosmerta · 23/09/2008 11:58

veggie that's so sweet of your ds!

Hello Everyone,

Sorry to see so many of you are feeling a bit crap.

Chutney - he fell on you and did not apologise? Then others agreed you were in the wrong after he swore at you . Was he ancient? That sounds terrible. I am so sorry.

Beans - glad you hear your BP is dropping. Its very stressful when you know it is too high.

Re prams - Jam and any other Phil and Ted experts out there - how did you choose a model? We def need a P&T but I can't decide between the Sport and the Vibe. Is the Vibe worth the extra money?

We have had a traumatic 24 hours. On Sunday we left DD with ILs and DH took me to a lovely hotel in Brighton for our last childless night before DD2 comes. We had a lovely dinner and lovely night but were woken early by MiL calling to say DD was ill. We rushed home to find a feverish and floppy DD not really responding to much. Took her straight to the GP who sent us to the hospital. At the hospital she had a temp of 40.6C (over 105F) and they rushed to cool her and run lots of tests that really upset her. Luckily it seems to be "just" tonsillitis but it was really worrying. Thankfully she is home now and seems to be on the mend.

SummerLightning · 23/09/2008 12:59

105 degrees !!! Poor thing, you must have been v worried. Glad she is getting better though.

I looked at the P&Ts and thought the Vibe seemed loads better. But typically I cannot remember why!!

zoejeanne · 23/09/2008 13:23

arti your poor DD, that must have been scary, and a shame it had to happen on your night away. Pleased she's getting better already.

chutney what an awful man, and the others are just as bad. I would definitely have cried about that. And whatever happened is no reason to call you an effing slag, even if you'd fallen on him. I'm so cross on behalf of all you using buses and the tube.

Sorry to hear so many people are feeling ill at the moment - just not needed.

I slept with a pillow under my bump and knees last night and slept really well - but DH was away so I did take up the whole bed. Am I going have to abandon the pillow when he comes back? Don't want to have to choose between them!

Verso · 23/09/2008 13:27

artichokes that must have been so frightening. I'm so glad everything is ok. Really really scary.

chutney the rudeness of some people on public transport defies description! One bloke recently had his bags on the window seat and when I asked whether he could perhaps move up he got VERY stroppy, huffing and puffing etc. In fact, he made such a song and dance someone else - who hadn't noticed I was pg - looked up, saw what was happening and very ostentatiously and graciously offered me a seat .

wg I sympathise with the middle-of-the-night worries, though last night (for once) I slept through. It's a miracle! I'm alive! Eight hours of sleep!

Effie I've been worried about my bump too. If I'm standing up it's fine but I got loads of comments yesterday about how small it is (maybe it's just in contrast to how huge the rest of me is? ). I think it had a major growth spurt a couple of weeks ago but has now stabilised - which is why it probably seems small, as it's not growing at the moment. (That made much more sense in my head ...)

Thanks for the sympathy, coldwise. Still feeling grotty but a lot better than yesterday.

Verso · 23/09/2008 13:30

P.S. veggie I meant to say I've been very weepy recently too. Your DS sounds so sweet. My DD kept giving me kisses and stroking my hair yesterday because I was feeling poorly.

EffiePerine · 23/09/2008 13:31

Verso: when is your next appt? I'm sure I'm being paranoid, but this is so different to my last pg - no worries there at all and DS moved so much all the time that I wasn't concerned about his growth or state of health . I'm sure phases of growing and resting are normal, but comments don't help, do they?

Re the middle-of-the-night worries, my method is to have a story I tell myself when awake in the middle of the night, usually involving being stranded on a desert island with miraculous amounts of essentials and a few easy chores like milking the odd goat. I find it most relaxing .

SummerLightning · 23/09/2008 13:39

verso I think when people say you are small, they usually mean it as a compliment that you aren't a huge heifer!! They just don't think that you might be worrying that you are too small!

effie at milking the odd goat!!!

mibbes · 23/09/2008 14:03

OMG Chutney am at that horible man's comment !

SummerL hurray for well-positioned and well-sized baby ! mine is still transverse so I'll have to get on my hands and knees and try to encourage him/her to turn !

arti am so glad panic is over for your DD, must have been terrifying - although I don't imagine tonsillitis is much fun.

My DP commeneted last night that the bump has definitely grown a fair bit in the last few weeks - but then I wasn't very big at 20 weeks so maybe my growth spurt is a wee bit later (am now nearly 30 weeks). Isn't it funny how if it is big we worry it is too big and if someone says it looks small we panic that baby not growing - it is a constant worry no matter what !

Haven't been on for a few days as have been busy decorating the nursery , carpet gets laid tonight and furniture arrives on Fri - it is all starting to feel quite real...

Kimberly1979 · 23/09/2008 14:21

Chutney I can't believe that happened to you! Sounds like that guy was totally of his rocker! Sorry you had to deal with that.

I like the bugaboos too! Although I did see a lady in the ASDA parking lot and she was complaining about hers because she had to take it apart to put it in the boot of her car. I guess it wouldn't be a issue if you don't have a car or if your boot is large. We've also been looking at the Silver Cross 3D. I like that you can change it to different modes. Does anyone know anything about them or have one?

Also wondering what to do about bras. I'm on the very small end (34A, if I'm lucky). So I've always worn under wire bras so I'd have some shape and not look flat. Upon looking for nursing bras I found out that they don't even make nursing bras in my size! Not sure how that's going to work.

Beans33 · 23/09/2008 15:02

Hi Kimberley - I was looking at the Silvercross 3D and still do like the look of them - they are cheaper than the bugaboo! BUT they are really quite heavy, plus they have 2 separate handles, so you can't really steer them one handed (ie while you're in the shops with a basket or on mobile) because they're heavy. But I do like the look of them. think we're going to go for the bugaboo because of the vouchers, otherwise think Silvercross would be our choice.

Beans33 · 23/09/2008 15:03

PS SL - how many weeks are you? I'm 29.5 weeks and doctor couldn't tell which position mine was in! But judging from sideways punches, it's across...

SummerLightning · 23/09/2008 15:08

beans am 27.5. I didn't ask, the doctor just said she could feel the head low down. So maybe it depends on exactly where they are on how easy it is to feel?
I thought mine was across too, as sometimes I get little kicks at both sides of me at once!

rosmerta · 23/09/2008 15:21

arti glad your dd is ok, sounds very worrying

beans was going to say about the Bugaboo Bee that you don't have to take the seat off to collapse it, plus it seemed very light & easy to steer - we had someone walk us through it the other day so feel very well informed now!

OP posts:
Beans33 · 23/09/2008 15:30

SL - that's what I get too - fingers crossed it is in the right position! Had v strong heartbeat on left and right of my tummy low down...

thanks rosmerta - I liked the bugaboo bee too, although they did say that it doesn't go up to 4 years old - for smaller kids, I think. but could be wrong!

I just had a caramel/chocolate/shortbread square thing. Delicious, but has left me feeling a bit sick! Oh well. Would eat another one!

artichokes · 23/09/2008 15:31

Beans - like you my doctor could not work out which way the baby is lying. I am 28 weeks and I am convinced she is lying right across me as sometimes it feels like she stretches and pushes her bottom out oneside and head out the other.

Beans33 · 23/09/2008 15:33

me too, arti! that's exactly how it feels. I even got a weird lump shape right next to my tummy button, which I thought must be its head or bottom!! but apparently could just as easily be an elbow!

SummerLightning · 23/09/2008 15:38

I want one of those caramel square things now. Yum.

rosmerta · 23/09/2008 15:52

Caramel squares, yummy!

Beans, I'm sure the women in the shop told me they'd go up to about 4? Having said that, ds is 2.8 and hardly uses the pushchair anymore, just if I'm going shopping or for a long day out. So there's every chance you won't need it once your dc's turned 3.

OP posts:
pixsix · 23/09/2008 15:56

I was convinced that my baby was feet down as I thought I could feel him/her kicking my pelvis. I was surprised when the sonographer at my growth scan said he/she was head-down. I guess I must be feeling head butts instead of kicks. Which is a bit weird!

Veggiemummy · 23/09/2008 16:10

hello all feeling a bit more energetic now after yoga and also pleased at my will power. I popped into Costco to get some bits and pieced we needed before picking DS up from nursery and there was a bit of a lne at the till, my till line was right were all the chocolates are and being Costco they come in packs of 36bars, i was looking at them all drooling but imagining that me being home without DH & with 36 bars of chocolate was a bad combination so resisted. However i am now a bit annoyed that i didnt at least get some ice cream, oh just remembered i have some Calipos in the freezer hooray.

Arti i'm glad your DD is ok, shame about the lost weekend away, but at least she is ok. 'Just' Tonsillitis can still be a dangerous thing any infection is apart from being horrible for whoever has it. Did the hospital describe it as 'just' i guess they see so much stuff in there they get a bit blarzay about 'ordinary' things. But i bet she felt awful, poor little mite.

haven't heard from *Chutney since yesterday hope she is ok after what happened on the bus.

emmanbump · 23/09/2008 16:24

Well done veggie great will power and glad to hear you are feeling more energetic.

Arti glad DD is ok, Tonsilitis is horrible the headache you get with it can be excruciating. Shame your weekend we messed up but glad DD is on the mend now. Most important.

Can't wait to leave work today, the atmosphere is awful. A Team member is going mad about workload and prorities etc etc. I do feel for her as she has inherited responsibility for a new proceedure and it's having teething problems so generating more work than it should. Also feel a bit responsible as a lot of what she has been working on today has been generated by me. Because of the problems she has had to redo things over and over. She has now lost the plot and is going mental swearing and saying the boss doesn't give a f**k (in front of him) and casting blame.

I feel terrible so just want to escape from it all. I am not the only person generating this work but i've generated this most today so feel like I have tipped her over the edge
