DD has some pink spotty babylegs that we got as a free gift for ordering over a certain amount from nappyneeds. They are very cute and I often put them on her when she's wearing a skirt.

Don't know if I mentioned it here, but she has been referred to the paediatric podiatrist as her right foot is turning in a bit and she splays her big toe out to support herself when she is walking. It isn't too bad and she doesn't have a limp or anything but HV thinks it's worth getting checked out.

Pinky, I'm deliberately not looking at your new fabrics.......but at the same time wondering about a cot/cotbed or junior bed sized blanket

PInkyminkyohnooo · 04/09/2008 22:15

You know you won't be able to resist a little peek, Lacks

Sorry to hear about your DD's problems. My friend's little boy had a foot problem like this and it was monitored but righted itself by the time he was about 2.5 (?) I do hope it's ok.
Poor thing with her botty, too. Is she teething? I use those nature baby nappies for DD if she's a bit sore from teething etc and they bwork very well. The thing I find plays havoc with her skin are those throwaway baby wipes.

wendiwoo · 04/09/2008 22:20

Hello all you lovely expectant mums!! I am a mum of three and a trainee doula. I am desparately looking for 2 women in my area(Coventry/Warwickshire) to offer a free doula service to! If you are not sure exactly what this involves I can arrange to discuss it with you, but basically it is to offer (non medical/clinical) practical and emotional support for you and your partner (if partner is involved) prior to your babies birth, during labour/delivery and a debrief postnatal visit. Doulas are becoming very sought after and offer many benefits for mother. If you are in my area and would like further infromation, please contact me! thanks for your time!

LackaDAISYcal · 04/09/2008 22:47

We stopped using baby wipes a few weeks ago pinkyminky and now use thick paper wipes with either E45, organic baby lotion or water to clean her nappy area, but I have oodles of flannels to use as wshable wipes. I think I've just blinded myself with all the different creams and have probably made things worse by all the chopping and changing I've done. We have a regime to stick with so hopefully it'll reap the reward of a crystal clear and sparkly bum.

not my area wendiwoo, but I'm sure someone wil take you up on it. I've hired a doula already anyway . Good luck with it.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 04/09/2008 22:58

Hope it gets better soon. It's awful when they are really sore.

I use cloth wipes, but we used throwaway ones on holiday and they played havoc on her sking- the nature baby ones were the best, but they still left her face very dry looking.

sorry if I'm saying something really obvious, but I always put on super- rinse when I wash the wipes and nappies, as DS especially is very sensitive to washing powder.

MerryMarigold · 04/09/2008 23:30

Pinky if you are my secret stork, I like that blue jungly one !

Barbs, text me, would be great to meet...my house is a tip, and I am a bit of a tip (!), but if you can accept that...

Ds has discoid eczema but has always been fine with unfragranced baby wipes (well I moved from cotton wool when he was about 4months, I think) - which is just as well as I had to wash his clothes in washnuts, and I don't think they would get washable wipes or nappies clean!! He has 'progressed' to Fairy non bio now, but it is the only powder he can tolerate.

If you need eco dispoables, spiritofnature.co.uk do good offers if you buy 3 packs (much cheaper than the babynature ones, I think)...have bought loads of Moltex for the twinplets first couple of months before I try and use re-usables.

LackaDAISYcal · 04/09/2008 23:49

I have a thread about it pinkyminky. Off to bed or I would link it. Have just ordered some bambo nature disposables.

always do a super rinse and then another couple of rinse programmes for good measure, only use a capful of fairy which is about half what I should use for nappies as well. Haven't tried soapnuts but they have been recommended.

So much for reuseables being cheaper eh?

Oh, and i have been chatting to someone on here who was in the year above me at school....it's very exciting, not to mention weird. Don't know who she is in RL though!

tomorrow peeps, didn't realise it was so late.

MonkeyMargot · 05/09/2008 04:55

I can't sleep so came down to catch up on MN (there aren't enough hours in the day for this activity) only to find the site's been down for the past half an hour.
Anyone else having trouble sleeping? I keep waking at around 3-4am, really annoying as I get up at 6am so inevitably by the time I finally get off again, the alarm starts beeping...ah well, off on hols to France Saturday morning - yipee!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oblomov · 05/09/2008 08:10

I have been awake for hours.
Welcome newbies. Will post more later.

mum2becks · 05/09/2008 08:37

Morning everyone, cant believe how chatty everyone is a the minute! It takes me ages to catch up!!!

oblomov and monkeyMargot sorry to hear you cant sleep, I was awake 3 times last night but not because I couldnt sleep which was annoying - twice our dog was whining and then dd was uncovered and cried for me to cover her back up - so I was just back to sleep by the time dh's alarm went off

Was it monkeyMargot that was asking about the Gina Ford book/rountine? (have so much to catch up on I forget who said what!) If you are wanting to get into a rountine it is very useful but I would say select the parts that suit you as the full rountine is very strict! I found a rountine much better for dd and will be getting into a rountine with 2nd dc too, I know they dont suit everyone but dd loves a rountine

I love the baby legs never heard of these before and had tights for dd which you just get used to when changing nappies but will be giving these a try if this is another dd!!!

LadyBuzz · 05/09/2008 08:48

OMG I am so my neighbours car alarm has been going constantly since 2:15 this morning right outside my window - and is still going now FFS, I guessing they are away somewhere or very very rude!!
I have not slept at all, What made it even worse was DS feeling loads better and having a fab night AND a lie in!
I even phoned the local Police at around 4 but no one apeared to turn up - I may have to try them again it is driving me mad. I won't even be able to sleep when DS naps if it is still going grrr.
Sorry rant over.
sorry to her you have had a bad one t Obs and Monkey
Babylegs are so cute and a fantastic idea too.
Pinky your fabrics are beautiful,I really wish I knew what I was having!
Hope everyone else is OK today

Pinkali37 · 05/09/2008 09:22

Morning All,

I also keep waking up throughout the night (like every hour) usually 2.30, 3.30, 4.30 etc...

Ladybuzz, if your neighbour is away, they wouldn't see a brick being dropped from your bedroom window?????

I am 30 weeks today.. wow it's so exciting!!

sparkletoes · 05/09/2008 09:37

for you LadyBuzz I HATE HATE HATE car and house alarms, no one ever takes any notice of them anyway. Our neighbours next door and across road are always going away and their house alarms go off... Nothing worse, personally I would ban them hope it gets sorted for you. LOL at your suggestion Pinkali I would be sooo tempted haha!

I could join the non-sleepers society too . Sooo uncomfortable and keep getting terrible cramps in my legs/feet that seem to pull my calf muscles so they are sore all day. Tried drinking extra milk, wearing socks but they just won't stop. Poor DH keeps having a panic when I wake up and start hopping around . Would be funny if it wasn't so damn sore!!!

Morning everyone BTW!!

LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 09:48

I think there may be lots of babylegs doing the rounds of secret stork presents

Another rough night here, with DD up to her tricks again. She barely ate anything yesterday; wouldn't eat her tea or have her bedtime milk, and was up for over na hour again on the night. She had some milk but it didn't help. And she still got up at 7 this morning. She was lying on me, was awake as her limbs weren't heavy when I lifted them, but she seemend really twitchy . Very odd.

Bum rash saga if anyone has anything enlightening to add

Right off for a shower and then I am reorganising wardrobes and tidying the trail of destruction that the kids have made upstairs.

I think my nesting instinct is kicking in, dammit

LadyBuzz · 05/09/2008 09:48

LOL Pinkali I did offer to pay the window cleaner to accidentally drop his lader throught the windscreen this morning!
Its has finally stopped - I hope it is because the battery is flat!!
Not sleeping is awful at least when you have the baby there is a reason for it, cramp is awful too I get it too but it usually wakes me with th first tinge and sometimes I don't even have to get up to get rid of it - Its not a nice awakening!

MonkeyMargot · 05/09/2008 10:09

LadyBuzz glad the annoying alarm has stopped. Grrrrrrrr. They are completely and utterly pointless. Sorry you and Sparkle are suffering from cramp - it's sooooooo painful - horrible.
mum2becks yes it was me asking about Gina. I'm keen to get some sort of routine established, and wondered what all you experienced mums had done previously?

Oblomov · 05/09/2008 10:31

I am in the cramp camp aswell. Even now, it has subsided a bit and I would call in more pins and needles. Painful.

Cheers Sparkle on the sickness pills advice. I have rung diabetic nurses this morning. I might ring Prof later.

sparkletoes · 05/09/2008 10:32

MonkeyMargot going to stick my neck out here and say I didn't read any of those books, DS found his own routine all by himself and very quickly. I know some people swear by them and obv whatever works for you but I didn't bother with any of it. Trust your own instincts they honestly do come and you will know best.

Oh Obs is your sickness due to your diabetes, sorry I have no knowledge there. Don't really think my advice was anything great but I def found it got easier when I stopped trying to rely on the pills IYSWIM. Your situation (and probably everyone's for that matter) will be different I guess... Really hope you get it sorted tho as i know I got really fed up with it in the end. xx

PInkyminkyohnooo · 05/09/2008 10:41

My babies have routine without GF, they do it themselves with a bit of encouragement, we've discussed this before. Best thing to do is find what works for you and your baby.

Lacks- I've posted on your thread

Right off to brave the lovely weather to go to the P.O.

sparkletoes · 05/09/2008 10:42

Hana I think you got it one there on the routines.... but I am not dissing anyone who does find them helpful. Whatever works for u...

suiledonn · 05/09/2008 10:45

Lackadaisycal - just had a look at your bum rash thread. Poor little thing must be miserable. It sounds very like the eczema that dd has. We have tried every cream etc too but lately have seen big improvements with Epaderm and Eumovate cream. Before this we were putting Oilatum in the bath which I think was actually making dd worse. Also the Eumovate has been much more effective than the 1% hydrocortisone we were using. We don't actually moisturise dd that much with the emollients now, just a cool bath with the Epaderm in it and rub a little on when the skin is wet, best thing we have done for her in 2 years.

I agree with what someone said about the more basic nappies too. The only time dd got nappy rash was when we had to buy Pampers as there were no Huggies in her size. We also use the Lidl pullups - a big bulky and loose fitting on her but that is probably a good thing.

I hope some of this is a help.It is awful to see them suffer.

suiledonn · 05/09/2008 10:52

I'm another one who had a bad night last night. Poor dd has been having problems with constipation and when we were at the paed. last week for her asthma check up I discussed it with him. He prescribed a lactulose medication for her that has made her worse. She wanted to poo all day yesterday but didn't and then woke up in a bad way at 3am. She was shaking so badly I thought she was having a seizure. She finally managed to go but I am really worried now. Waiting for a call back from the doctor. No way I can get her to the doctor today as my car is in the garage and miles from town.

mum2becks · 05/09/2008 10:56

Sorry to hear a lot of you are suffering from cramp, that must be awful in the night

monkeyMargot as you can see from everyones varied response, some like routine, some dont, and some are somewhere in the middle! I think it is definately down to personal preference and also the baby as all are different!! I like to be organised and know what I'm doing so found when dd was all over the place, feeding a lot through the night, no set feed times in the day and generally very grumpy especially later in the day I needed some routine to feel human again Once I got a regular feeding pattern, a bedtime routine etc she was a different baby so it definately suited both of us. And even now at 2 years old she loves rountine and knows herself when its time for bed etc

Cant believe the weather, my sister gets married tomorrow and dd is a flower girl but looks like weather is going to be even worse tomorrow and I have bought a very summery outfit so will probably be very wet and cold
