Hi and welcome mummynic

never too late to sign your life away to MN I reckon . It's very addictive!

pancakes sound really good for dinner......but I used up the last of the eggs this morning and haven't managed to do a shop yet today. We are out of cereal that I can eat as well

How does porridge sound? With lots of sugar on top and floating in pool of milk.

In case anyone is interested, Waitrose are selling off all their stock of Motherease nappies and wraps....nappies going from as little as £1.99 and £3.20 for wraps, but prices are varying from store to store I think.

vbab78 · 15/09/2008 20:45

blooming marvellous code - as well as the mumsnet MNET put in DGT2 (until 7th Oct Midnight) to FREE DELIVERY.

I got the code with my BM mag.

MerryMarigold · 15/09/2008 20:46

saurus. think this is what you are on about fortune cookies

Tbh I managed without with ds, band I don't know many people who actually bfed using them, but they are very useful to prop babies up in/ stop them rolling off sofa etc.

Oblomov · 15/09/2008 20:47

Welcome mummynic.

I am not worried over the fact that there are only a few weeks left.
I am not due for 9 weeks. But I think my CS will be scheduled for approx 7 weeks. I predict that ds2 could be here in 5 weeeks. I don't know why. I just predict.
Even the idea of 5 weeks does not bother me. Wonder why ?

vbab78 · 15/09/2008 20:47

mummynic - Welcome. I'm due 3rd Nov who knows we could deliver the same day! Will definately be fireworks when I deliver whether bonfire night or not.

vbab78 · 15/09/2008 20:50

BM Code - Just realised not just free delivery but also 10% off any Maternity Fashion, Maternity Lingerie and Breastfeeding stuff.

MummyNic · 15/09/2008 20:53

Thank you for the welcome everyone!

My first thought, upon hearing he's due 5th Nov was - Oh God, who'll look after Moli (my dog) - she barks constantly when fireworks are going off!!!

Might be early though, consultant is talking about inducing me anytime from 36 weeks as I have high blood pressure - I'm being heavily monitored.

ceebee74 · 15/09/2008 20:57

Excuse the language but bugger bugger bugger! Have just done a massive order with Blooming Marvellous and then read this thread reminding me of the MN discount and now the free delivery!! How difficult do you think it would be to cancel the order and then re-order it??

Re the pillows - I bought one with DS and never used it. I didn't need it in bed as managed to sleep quite comfortably all the way through pg, didn't breastfeed and by the time DS was ready to try sitting up, someone had bought us a 'dinosaur' cushion which we used as a prop instead - so definitely in the category of 'waste of money' for me.

Far too many posts to catch up on - haven't been on for 2 days and god, you lot can talk

Welcome to mummynic - get ready to sign your life away as this site is SO addictive

One of my teeth broke off on Saturday - fortunately it isn't painful but it means a trip to the dentist tomorrow where I will have to haul myself onto the chair in a very undignified manner and, no doubt, to fix it is going to involve pain/anaesthetic etc - really hate going to the dentist at the best of times Have never had a broken tooth before - is this a pg thing?

Misdee - yes it is scaring me that the birth is about 10 weeks away - it seems SO close but on the other hand, I can't wait to meet my new little boy

Oblomov · 15/09/2008 21:11

MerryM, why were you linking to a widgey ? I was thinking of getting a widgey.

Heartmum2Jamie · 15/09/2008 21:32

Welcome Mummynic!!

Thank you all so much for your comments about my Dad. I emailed my stepmum to make sure it really was Dad, which it was. Apparently everyone says Hey Girl over there, it is a term of endearment and used mainly for loved ones, but she said that she never uses it because like me, she has a name and preferes people to use it, lol! She did apologise on his behalf for the fat comment, said she doubt he really thought about what he was saying before typing it (well, d'uh, that much is obvious!) She said she would have a word with him but they he would not of meant to hurt me. I did point out that intentional or not, it did still hurt, especially as I have been worrying about my lack of weight gain (always something to worry about!)

Misdee, yep, definately get a little scared when I realise that I am due in 6 weeks and 2 days . I was waiting in the chip shop earlier and the woman who served me told me that she hoped it wasn't imminent. When I told her not quite, she told me she would have served me first it it had of been. Me and my big mouth! I should have told her I was due last week

PInkyminkyohnooo · 15/09/2008 21:34

Hello mummynic!lol about your dog. We used to have a dog and I was certain DS first words were going to be woof woof he must have heard Jack so much.

ceebee- I have chipped a tiny bit off one of my front teeth and one of them crumbled slightly in my first pg. I think it does happen when PG. I normally have very good teeth (no fillings etc) so it was definitely unusual for me.

I have about 7 weeks til my due date, I think..not before time.. I can't walk down the road without bump tightening up. V.annoying.

Re cushions- I love our handmedown v pillow thingy. Buying baby stuff is such a minefield as one person's must have is another's waste of money.

MonkeyMargot · 15/09/2008 21:38

Welcome mummynic! I share the same EDD as you! Likewise, I've had Guy (fawkes) and Catherine (wheel) suggested as possible names. Oh how we laughed...

PInkyminkyohnooo · 15/09/2008 21:42

Heartmum, good for you for contacting your stepmum about the comments. I think people need to know when they are hurting someone's feelings.

Ceebee- I would re-do your order with Bmarvellous, if you've ordered lots of stuff 10% off would be worth having.

MonkeyMargot · 15/09/2008 21:49

MummyNic we also have a dog who is terrified of fireworks. She's going to be thrilled - what with the fireworks and suddenly being usurped by a bawling baby!

Oblomov · 15/09/2008 21:56

Dh said, please make sure they don't book your Cs for Bonfire night.
Didn't bother to mention to him that it seems to go on for about 2 and a half weeks round here.
Didn't bother to mention, that having a specific date was also meaningless, either.

MummyNic · 15/09/2008 22:58

Interesting reading about your views on the V pillows - I fancy getting one of them - I go on leave next Wed and like the idea of being propped up, watching my Desperate Housewives box sets!!!

I was under the impression you can use them for breastfeeding too - another reason to buy one.

Lol at all the dog stories - Moli is very much the ruler of our house, I call her Princess Moli!! She's going to have the shock of her life!!! As long as she still has lots of treats and cuddles she'll be ok - I hate the firework season, because of owning a dog, it starts in Oct and ends in mid Jan - or so it seems!!!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 15/09/2008 23:06

we tend to get a lot of fireworks here, too, it can be a real pain when you have pets.

yes v pillows can be helpful when bfeeding, but I used it more to get comfy in the chair than actually propping the baby on it, IYSWIM.

LackaDAISYcal · 15/09/2008 23:41

I love my v-pillow. It was a fiver from the local mill shop and is now in service as a reading/drinking tea/eating toast in bed prop, but was great when DD was teeny tiny to lie her on when feeding. As she got older any old cushion would do, but the v one was invaluable in the early days and a snip compared to things like the widgey.

glad you got things sorted re your Dad heartmum. I'm sure he was just being a man about it all. He could have just said "you're looking swell" to the point and not in any way insulting/upsetting!

right am off for my nightly dose of ranitidine and then bed.

And i think virgil may have turned. I was prodding at what I thought was his head earlier, when suddenly it split in two and I could feel two hard lumps rather than the usual one......I'm thinking it was his knees!!

MerryMarigold · 16/09/2008 06:06

Obs, i linked to the widgey because saurus was talking about fortune cookie shaped cushions...When i put in bfeeding pillow on ebay all it brought up were widgeys! Not sure what to be getting now...

I am s.p.e.n.d.i.n.g money like I've never done in my life, other than buying a house. I just bought a Mountain Buggy. Now I have moved on to a freestanding freezer and a tumble dryer! Poor dh...

Though actually he is in my bad books, because I confessed my very, very slight scratch to the car (like, you can only see it if you SEARCH for it) and he sulked all night. He didn't even buy the car, my parents did. And he was certainly not that upset (not upset at all, actually), the other day when I had to drive round the hospital twice and then park miles away from maternity, and have to walk a long way, wait a long time, and then had severe BH's for next 2 days. Was he bovvered? No. A teeny scratch to the oh-so-much-more-precious-than-me stooooooopid car and he goes mad all night. MEN! So revenge is the freezer and tumble .

MerryMarigold · 16/09/2008 06:11

My new, personal EDD is 10th October. Unlike obs, I am petrified and very bothered that the house is a state, just messy, dirty, disorganised to an extent it has never been (and I do let it get pretty bad) and none of the stuff is out of the loft, and I haven't washed one item of baby clothing, and I have only 2 tiny baby sized babygros anyway (in case they are not tiny), but if they come on 10th they will be tiny and I don't know if I should be getting pyjamas (I prefer) or yucky nighties if I have a C-section. Actually I have 2 really, really old and very yucky nighties (3rd hand from a friend), I will just use them and I don't care what my visitors think of me.

MerryMarigold · 16/09/2008 06:14

Can you tell I am tetchy and this is my best time of day. Oh dear, it does not bode well for the rest of the day. Back to bed. Dh can handle ds till he leaves for work (he's up now, I can hear him, ha ha ha ha). Another part of the punishment!

Oblomov · 16/09/2008 07:31

Morning. God, MerryM was up early. We have been up for a while. It is ds's first day of school. They wear a shirt and tie ( yes, I know), but he looks well smart and is very excited. Dh has gone to work. And he is coming to meet us t the school, later.
Then I have 4 hrs on my own. Oh what to do ? Continue with my 'to do list' of 35 things, I guess.

LadyBuzz · 16/09/2008 07:54

Good for you MerryM he he men can be very tetchy!
Obs shirt and Tie? how very cute. I now spend my free time doing nothing - I feel I have achieved if the dishes are done every day!
DS is my picker upper too he loves to help at the moment!
Poor lamb he is going to Nursery this morning with his pants on back to front because he wouldn't let me help and I am incapable of fighting with him at the moment!
Hope everyone has a lovely day I won't I'm at work [grr] only 3 1/2 weeks to go though!

Hello all. I haven't been on for about a week - which is a LONG time for me. I am reading about stuff but I don't often have any good advice to give so I haven't been posting.

MummyNic welcome, and I have updated the stats list with your details.

Went to my first NCT class last night - was very strange but fun too.

Dozy are we still having a London meetup on the 3rd? Sorry if I have missed any details.
