oooh, I have cooked a yummy lunch. Caribbean jerk chicken and a 'made up' rice with kidney beans, sweetcorn, coriander. It smells so nice, but i have to wait for dh to get back.

barbs, i did get text, need to check I didn't delete it.... I don't think I saved it. I didn't know you were a teacher. I know quite a lot of teachers around here, be funny if you work with any of them. Horrid thing for kid to say, but they do know the best way to get to us, eh?

dozy, sorry early mornings are back. Am of roast beef. Seem to be having a lot of red meat cravings recently.

saurus, hope it's all fine with ds. Dh doesn't feel too secure at the moment and so is putting in all hours god sends, which is hard . But after working out his redundancy package, he felt better!

Obs, I think I tried to swaddle ds for a couple of days, but probably wasn't doing it properly or something (despite NCT 'lessons') - can't remember if he didn't like it or just got out or ended up in bed with me (highly bad I know, but I didn't realise!). I think I used a fleece blanket - didn't have sheets except the ones that go on the mattress. I would get sheets from ebay, second hand is ok. But new muslins. They get covered in sick and spit!!! (and aren't expensive). I got mine from ebay, but new ones.

Went to a dh family do last night. Had lots of curry but babies are still in! Everyone incredulous at my size, have stopped caring...I know I am huge I have to carry it around all day long! It is getting hard to lug myself around these days and do get lots of BH's especially first thing in morning (despite drinking a litre of water overnight).

ruthosaurus · 14/09/2008 13:48

Hey all, just off to the shops, anyone want anything getting while I'm there?

DH fine - is merrily ripping wallpaper off the bedroom walls and making the most astounding happy crashing and banging noises, iyswim, bless him . He seems about 5 years younger and a lot happier since he unburdened himself of the job news on Fri. Men.

Liking the swaddle pods a lot - I'm not v good at origami but keen on the idea of swaddling. Does it make them loads happier?

Anyway, make me a cuppa when I get back, I'll bring the biscuits!

MerryMarigold · 14/09/2008 14:00

sorry, monkeymargot, forgot say: welcome back! where did you in france?

MonkeyMargot · 14/09/2008 16:02

Hi MerryM. We were in the south, close to Gassin if you know the area? (not far from St.Tropez but slightly less glam!) Was v.nice thanks.
I've just had a spurt of "nesting" type activity - sorting out clothes and making some space in our wardrobe. Am now in need of a sit-down whilst DH snoozes on sofa. So much to do! So little time! Aghh!
On subject of swaddling - I wasn't going to do this, mainly because it looks too tricky...

chocolategal · 14/09/2008 16:16

afternoon ladies,
welcome back monkeymagot merry and dozy your dinners sound fab!

glad you are feeling better daisy

thats my nightshifts finished, thank goodness. i had to run to a cardiac arrest last night, and i was no use to anyone by the time i got there!! luckily there was people in a better state than me who got there and was actually some good to the poor lady!

that just confirmed i have made the right decision to finish a week earlier than planned!

dozy i have to admit i also watch the dirty dancing thing but im not as fond of kelly brook as i was of jennifer ellison who did it last year

obs i have bought one of the growbag swaddle wraps to see how i get on with it...

oh and happy anniversaries!

chocolategal · 14/09/2008 16:19

i have just read that post back and my spelling and grammer is terrible! i must apologise!!

LolaBella · 14/09/2008 16:21

Afternoon ladies

Happy belated anniversaries too.

I'm another one who is struggling to sleep at the moment mainly because my life is being ruled by my bladder and i'm sure my little one is determined to kick and punch his way out of my stomach.

Only four more weeks till i finish for maternity when i will be 37+2, although another four weeks at the moment seems sooooo long. When are others planning on finishing?

Got my 34 week appointment at MW tomorrow so hopefully will be able to find out if bub has moved into the correct position yet. I think he has though because of the strong kicks to the ribs and the fact that his hiccups make my bum appear to be hiccupping too

Have a good afternoon, hope everyone else is well

MonkeyMargot · 14/09/2008 17:07

PMSL chocolategal at your spelling of my name - I'm now a Maggot!! Hee hee.
Hello LolaB I have got 6 weeks left at work, by which time I'll be 38+2. However, my pregnancy has been straightforward and I am also lucky enough to work from home when I want to, so that helps a lot. I just didn't want to waste any MAT leave before baby arrives. I might live to regret it though!

LadyBuzz · 14/09/2008 19:06

Hello All, Haven't had a chance to catch up on posts yet as I have had a very hectic weekend, My niece got married on Friday (8 months pg bless her) so that was a long day, then drove 4 hours to Worcester at 8:30 on Saturday for another nieces naming ceremony, then 4 hrs back home today - I am knackered and planning on going to bed very very soon.
DS was a little angel all weekend and was fab with my 9 month old niece yesterday he kept kissing and cuddling her and saying oh don't cry to stop her crying - it worked too. I do feel alot better that he might be OK when this one arrives!
Hope everyone is well and have had a good weekend

Hello all,

Obs - I bought a swaddle blanket thingy for DS which I hope I still have somewhere... it was great, so easy to use and really worked on him anyway. Got it from Blooming Marv I think... Just popped him in it and use the velcro at the top to secure arms. WIll def try it again wit this one.

Welcome home MonkeyM! I would say just see how you go with work, I tried to work upto 38 wks with DS, didn't manage it but was mainly due to fact it was a really hot July and office has no air con. I am already regretting agreeing to work til 37 wks this time around as I am SOO tired it is ridiculous. Am hoping I am just still getting over being ill but if not I'm in trouble!!

Rutho - glad your DH has opened up and explained himself. Yes why do they do that?? My DH is usually so calm about things but if he ever gets arsey with me I just know that something stressful has happened at work..

barbareebaa · 14/09/2008 21:21

Heartmum2Jamie · 14/09/2008 21:25

Thanks for the anniversary wishes ladies, much appreciated.

I was having a not bad day until after tea tonight. Dh decided he was going to set up a video of him falling off his bike for you've been framed. Needless to say, it went badly and ended with a nasty accident, where he gave himself a flesh wound on his left thigh deep enough to expose the muscle, he was literally bleeding out in front of me. Que mad panicking, throwing the kids in the car, wrapping dh's legs as tightly as possible to stem the bleeding, chucking him in the car, breaking some speed limits and taking him to our local with a minor injuries unit. I am not sure who felt or looked worse as at first they thought I was there for me . Thankfully when I finally managed to get him booked in (couldn't believe how piggin slow it was, he could have bled to death while I waited for the person in front of me to hurry up and finish....perhaps I should have pretended to be in labour), they took him straight off. Now, I am a HUGE germaphobe, the woman in front of me had a little girl wrapped in a towel with a rash all over, another girl walked past me muttering something about being sick. I abandoned dh with the nurse, antibac'ed my hands several times over, took the boys home to get them ready for bed ect, before heading back and reading Harry potter to them in the car park while waiting for hubby to come back out. Thankfuly he is fine, 9 stitches, antibiotics and a day off tomorrow at least. I am hoping the BH that the stress has brought on ease off as dh can't drive ME to hospital if baby decideds now is the time. I am sure it will be a long night for us both.

LackaDAISYcal · 14/09/2008 22:07

oh, heartmum. what a horrible day; poor you ......as for your DH, well what can I say? The silly man, I hope he's learnt his lesson.

If things don't settle down, there's always the option of calling an ambulance, but I'm sure things will settle themselves. Make sure you have had enough to eat and drink....as the hospital told me, a thirsty uterus is a painful and overactive uterus.

vbab78 · 14/09/2008 22:13

Sorry if I have missed any important posts as not been on since Friday and trying to somehow get up to date ...

MonkeyMargot · 14/09/2008 22:15

heartmum - what a nightmare. I hope you and DH are managing to calm down after what sounds like a horrendous night.

vbab78 · 14/09/2008 22:24

ruthosaurus - sorry to hear about your probs with DH (old news I know).

re baby size - DS was 9lb 4 (also very long) at 2 weeks overdue. It was a ! Exactly what DH was! I dont want this baby to be any bigger and got a feeling he/she wont be. But saying that does it really matter? It hurts no matter what size the baby is! I must admit I prefer the idea of a bigger baby. DH also said he felt more comfortable cuddling DS who was bigger than most felt like he was "less likely to break him"?!

I was 3lb 7 and my sister 2lb something so was a little shock for my parents.

re baby looks - Couldn't really tell you who DS looked like when born as he was all battered and bruised and had a cone head due to his stressful and eventually assisted birth. DS now though seems to change who he looks like every few seconds to be like different members of mine and DH family.

vbab78 · 14/09/2008 22:44

pinky - No stretch marks!!!! Dont know whether to admire or curse. I have stretch marks now around my belly button like with DS but they seems to disappear once my weight and stomach was sort of back to prepregancy state (please dont imagine a 6pk as you would be wrong).

lacks - hope you are feeling better. Sorry to read (ages later) about your pains.

ruthosaurus - Sorry to hear about DH job trouble but I'm sure everything will work out for the best even if he has to get another job.

monkeymargot - Glad you had a nice relaxing holiday.

vbab78 · 14/09/2008 22:52

heartmum - Sorry to hear about DH . What a daft lad! Hope he has learnt his lesson and just gets an extra job in future to make some £.

vbab78 · 14/09/2008 23:02

Me... - Had achey/painful legs all weekend at night time. Gone from just my left leg to both legs. Sat morn I was hurting all down my left side and had pins and needles in my left hand. So the sleep I get is even worse than normal so I feel pants!

Mentioned it to MIL who said "maybe your body is telling you to slow down". I agree that is probably the case but how the hell is that meant to happen! Not done any organisation for this baby, only bought a couple of bits for hospital bag (under orders from DH) & a steriliser & bottles, nursery is still yet to be painted etc since plastering, DS room needs wardrobes ordering and assembling, living room needs gutting, plastering, new fire and so on. On top of this the usual house work, finances and DS! ARGH! Just not enough hours in the day. Just feel so p*ed off that I (& DH) cant take time to enjoy this pregnancy and the impending arrival like with DS.

Also DS has been waking up 6.30ish all weekend (dont know why) and occassionally a hand full ALL of which is out of character.

BOO HOO! Sorry for my rant and feeling sorry for myself.

twinklingfairy · 14/09/2008 23:03

Oh dear heartmum what a silly DH! What a scary outcome! And to have caught it all on camera!

My goodness vbab you were both teeny tiny babies! Are you one of twins or both seperately small. Amazing to have survived. MIL always talks about how small she was (can't remember now what her weight was) but the story goes that it was a home birth and she was tossed aside, thought to be dead. One of her brothers and sisters spotted that the baby was breathing and MIL was rushed to hospital. Amazing, especially in her day and coming from a farm background.

DD was her daddy's double for about a year, suddenly becoming mine at 1 year old. V odd.

vbab78 · 14/09/2008 23:13

twinkling - Both seperately small. I not sure but I think if we were prem we werent alot . I think (a lot of thinking I know) that my mum had placenta probs. My dad commented to me with DS when I wasnt my biggest that he never saw mum that big she hardly showed. No wonder why. My mum has had a tough time of it having children as she had 2 DS's before me and my sister that for many other reasons didnt live long (couple of days and a week I think) then the probs with me and my sister. But whatever will be will be I guess. Me and my sister must be natural born fighters. Sorry of TMI.

ruthosaurus · 14/09/2008 23:34

OMG Heartmum - hope you, baby DH and ds's are all okay! Last thing you need (and obviously it was horrible for DH as well but words fail me, hon, they really do). Don't worry about getting to hospital - get an ambulance or a cab or whatever but don't let it add to your stress levels. Hope the BH have settled down when you read this.

Quick Q about BH contractions - is that when your bump goes really hard all over? Mine does that if I stand up for too long or over-exert myself but I'm not sure if it's BH, never having done this whole pg thing before.

Maternity leave - I'm packing it in at 36+2 (I'm currently 31+4 - 5 weeks to go) as I'm massive and knackered already. People at work giggle nervously when I tell them I've got another 8 weeks of pg or so to go and friends and family have started to hug me sideways on - "ooh, can't make arms reach!".

Ta, Vbab, how are you? What a lot to catch up on, eh?

Nesting - now no longer have any wallpaper in bedroom, am picking up floor sander tomorrow night after work and DH is doing the bedroom floor while he waits for IKEA to deliver enormous new wardrobes. It'll all be done by Friday, though, cos it's DH's 31st birthday party on Saturday and so the downstairs simply cannot be full of flatpack furniture or there'll be no room to play pass the parcel (or whatever - I'm just going to sit in a big chair and demand jelly).

I've just read that back and realised why the poor man might be stressing a little . Actually, he's been loads better all weekend. Merry, how's yours doing?

Right, off to bed (if I can find it under all the decorating crap equipment).

LadyBuzz · 15/09/2008 08:13

Morning Everyone, HM2J hope DH is Ok this morning and you managed to chill out and get some rest!
Happy anniversaries to those who were celebrting and heres hoping those who were feeling poorly are getting better.
Loving hearin about what DCs look like. My DS is very very cute (well at least I think so)he was a beautiful baby born with dark red hair and quite dark skin. He is and always has been the double of DH other then his hair, he has dark gingery red hair which is thick wiry and curly bless him, I'm blonde and DH is dark but red hair comes from both sides. I can't wait to see what this one looks like.

mum2becks · 15/09/2008 08:23

morning everyone, sounds like you have all had busy eventfull weekends!!

Heartmum hope DH is feeling ok this morning and hope your BH's have stopped?

There is a lot of decorating going on everywhere by the sound of things? We managed to strip all the horrible wallpaper from the nursery over the weekend so that is now ready for decorating this week at last! seems like its taken forever to make a start but had to get dd's room done first. Although she only slept in her new bed once and then asked to go back in her cot but she was back in the bed last night so lets hope she has now taken to it!!

Also bought some things for my hospital bag too so feel a little more prepared now

Pinkali37 · 15/09/2008 09:05

Morning All,

NEWS I'm an auntie!!!!!!!! My sister gave birth yesterday to a baby girl (which she already knew). Weighing 7lb 13.5oz, nameless still, however, listen in first time mummies to be, she started in labour on Sunday morning at 3.30am, went to the hospital at 6am and gave birth at 12.32pm*. OMG i hear you cry.. ME TOO... I am now petrified that one of us sisters has had such an easy labour that mine is going to be hell on legs. Had a little cry yesterday about it. Stupid really btu I feel a bit jealous that her first few weeks will be made a lot easier because she won't be as exhausted at the start. I know it will all be exhausting but it must set you up better??

HEARTMUM Yikes what a weekend for you! Hope DH is feeling better and that your stress levels have lowered somewhat!!

Hope everyone else is ok?
