Hi All,

Thank you for for your kind thoughts. Not explanation from MW as to why movements have changed so dramatically yet again. Although it is quite nice that they don't make me feel like a nutter!! They do humour me (which reassures me somewhat).

Ceebee.. so long as your baby has been like that all along I would say there isn't any reason to worry. My worry comes from Tarquin having been really active and me knowing exactly what time s/he will move to then not feeling anything for a day and then a very slow sluggish movement. This has happened twice in 2 weeks!!

LackaDAISYcal · 12/09/2008 09:38

My DCs have got my button nose, but whereas DS looks like me, DD has DHs teeth and jawline. Her baby teeth are like full grown adult incisors...and boy can she use them to good effect.

Another hellish night here. Went to bed about 11:30. Woke properly at one after tossing and turning since after midnight, dozed very fitfully (you know when you look at the clock and only 6 minutes has passed since last time you looked at it) until just before 2. Gave up the bed at 3:30 and retired to the sofa where I finally fell asleep about 4:30, only to be woken up by DD and DH coming downstairs at 6. I feel blardy awful and wish DH would hurry home from school drop off so I can get back to bed.

I think I might be done for child cruelty today. I'm fed up with all things pink, so today DD is wearing a bright green top with red piping and flowers embroidered on it, a red cord skirt and bright green tights. She looks like a leprechaun, albeit a very cute leprechaun . Can't decide whether it's over kill or not!

Hello everyone.
Sympathy to SPD sufferers.
I think I am getting off lightly here with a bit of vomiting and nauseau - nothing too unbearable.

Took ds to 'Eye Dr' yesterday (he is slightly cross eyed and has to eye patch). My left breast started to leak for the first time. I had a wet patch the size of an saucer. NICE.

Loving the chat on how our babys will look.

Oblomov · 12/09/2008 10:00

oh my wee stickers arrived this morning. I chose the Dragonfly one. Can't wait to create it.

ruthosaurus · 12/09/2008 10:35

Morning ladies

Anyone know how to organise a quickie divorce? Need decree absolute through and DH's stuff on pavement outside the house by 5pm today!

Only kidding - mostly - but am comsidering staying at mum's tonight due to stupid man being a stupid man cos he's stupid and a man. Pedicure gratitude has worn off awful fast, hasn't it?

Love idea of what new babies will look like - I'm sort of convinced they all look a bit like Winston Churchill at first, but my mate's kid looked like Yoda (honestly, he was one of those babies you have to lie about them being cute when you first meet them, poor lad) until he was about 3 months old and then metamorphosed into a stunningly gorgeous little thing who will undoubtedly break hearts all over the shop.

Pinkali37 · 12/09/2008 10:40

Obs- I had a squint up until 5 when I had an operation to correct it. I am sooo thankful to my parents for letting me have the op as I see adults these days who should have had an operation when they were young. I used to bang into doors on my left side (was quite funny really). Hope you DS gets it sorted.

I keep worrying what my baby will look like. Mainly because my sister who is expecting anytime NOW and her partner are both absolutely gorgeous and god knows why I fear that my baby will be ugly. Not that it matters to me because I will love it unconditionally. DH and I are both ok looking so I am hoping that beauty doesn't necessarily run down the gene route direct (if that makes any sense). It is so amazing to think we have both created it and it will take some features from us both.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 12/09/2008 11:29

Morning all
Hana- DS has curly hair like DH, and DD has straight hair like me, DS has green eyes like mine and DD has blue eyes like DH, so they are a mix. DS looks just like his dad facially, whilst DD looks like me, ecept she has gone fair and I have dark hair. So it's anyone's guess what this one will look like.

I have a strabism, which is a bit like a squint but there's no muscle instead of a 'lazy' one. I had an operation on my neck as child so I didn't grow up with a tilt, and other than not being able to use binoculars and my still life drawing looking a bit odd to everyone else I have had no problems. It's not so noicable. It's not considered to be inheritable, fortunately.

I'm absolutely shattered today. Finished working way too late last night and came down to find DS in the bed. Moved him back but he returned later and then he had a wee in the bed whilst asleep (quite unusual f6r him) so not much sleep here either!

ruthosaurus · 12/09/2008 11:39

Feel like an old meanie now .

All babies are gorgeous, anyway - I have to admit I am dying to actually meet mine after all this time. I can't imagine NOT having it kicking away in there, though - did anyone else miss that afterwards? Apart from the really uncomfortable kicks, I mean!

mum2becks · 12/09/2008 11:48

I cant wait to see what mine looks like either ruthosaurus its funny that dd is just like me with brown hair and dark brown eyes, but DH has black hair and blue eyes so next dc could be completely different to dd!! Also could look like neither of us as I have 2 sisters, 1 is blonde, i'm brown and the other is ginger so anything is possible!!!!!

Betti · 12/09/2008 11:56

Heartmum yes I am the same 'Betti' as 'bettispaghetti'. I somehow managed to delete my original registration and haven't heard back from MN admin in over a week so assume they can't get it back for me.

Ceebee love the Thomas carry case. My little man is into swords and fighting (aahh the joys of preschool peer pressure!) but I don't think it's appropriate for the baby to buy him something that he could use as a weapon against him/her. Will need to think a bit harder.

Suiledon Love the baby doll idea. WE did this for dd and she changed the doll's nappy when i changed the baby, fed them at the same time etc, etc. It really helped to make her feel involved.

As for what newborns look like. My dd was beautiful and even now still has a resemblance to her newborn photos. My DS however was so ugly (gorgeous now though!). He looks nothing like he did when he was a baby. When he was handed to me I did a double take as he was so squashed, red with a wrinkled forehead and sticky out ears. I was convinced I had the wrong baby!!!

Just back from mw and got low blood pressure (explains lightheadedness). Baby's hb was 140. Previously it's been 158, 156 and I was convinced I was having a girl. Now I'm doubting that I am especially as I saw someone yesterday who said I am so carrying a boy. Got girl's name sorted but me and dh can't decide on boys names (he likes 1970's names, I like 1930's names). If this is a boy I can see him being called 'baby' few a few weeks after he's born.

coolkat · 12/09/2008 11:57

I keep thinking what this little one will be like, and also wondering about the size!

DD had a full head of dark hair, she is blonde now and she was 9lb's, but 2 weeks late. I am hoping to not go over this time and am seeing consultant on tuesday, MW says due to SPD and back they may be persuaded to induce on or close to due date.

Any how feel like a weight has been lifted as got signed off work today, can't use crutches at work and doctor says more than happy to sign off. Work happy wih that as would have needed risk assessment etc and would have caused problems!

So here I sit Mumsnetting!

LackaDAISYcal · 12/09/2008 12:03

betti, we have the recessive ginger gene on both sides of the family, so anything could go here too. DS was mousy when he was born and is now beautiful and blond, DD was jet black when born (that wa a shock to the system I can tell you) and is now a lovely coppery brown colour, but it seems to be getting lighter all the time.

ruthosaurus · 12/09/2008 12:30

Betti, were your first words to DS "Holy crap!"? I bet I end up saying something like that...

Good for you, Coolkat - don't feel bad, I'm mumsnetting at my desk and have been all week (if I don't I lose track on this thread and it takes my whole lunch break to catch up. Gosh, I hope none of you ladies work in my building... [paranoid glance over shoulder].

Plus, I keep finding baby stuff on t'internet I "need"...

Hi all,

I am still suffering effects of the strong painkillers, stopped taking them on Wed night and have remained shattered ever since! Poor DS has had to pretty much entertain himself this am .

Interesting all this talk about what babies will look like! Hana my Dad has brown eyes and slightly wavy hair and my Mum has green eyes and poker straight hair. I have green eyes with a brown ring around the edges (?!) and wavy hair. My younger sister has dark green eyes and poker straight hair! Don't imagine that really helps but haey go figure! I know brown eyes are very dominant genetically but can't remember the exact equation...

Still to get a present from DC2 to DS, I did get a little toy from DS to the baby but it was a while ago... do you think he'll remember???!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 12/09/2008 12:58

Not sure that makes any diffference, Hana. Ds was born at 41+3 and DD at 38+6 and I have no stretch marks. My mum doesn't have them either and we were all full term babies. The women in our family are not very wrinkly, I think the nautre of your skin has more to do with it.

MIne is going to look different being a VB as the baby is going to be squashed, isn't it? My other two were cs so not squashed- though DS had a ring around the top of his head where he got stuck, bless.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 12/09/2008 13:03

sparkle much sympathy. I have a teribly achey bump today- mainly around my scar- I think the baby is heading downwards. I just can't bend at all. I am not exactly the most 'invloved' mummy today- hence the musmnetting!! Just hanging on until DH gets home at 3ish.

Heartmum2Jamie · 12/09/2008 13:27

I wish my baby would move down, I can't flaming breath!

I distinctly remember my dh asking how the baby would end up with ginger hair, lol! Not that there is anything wrong with ginger. As it is, people look at our kids and then at us and must wonder as dh & I both have very dark hair and our boys were both born blonde. Ds1 was actually almost white blond the summer after he was born. We really got funny looks then. Ds1 is finally starting to darken, his hair is now very dirty blonde, mousy. I have always been dark, but dh was blonde as a young child and went dark about age 8 or 9. Ds2 is already as dark as ds1, so I reckon he will actually go dark earlier than that. The strange thing is I look at them and can't imagine them with dark hair like dh or me. I did always want a dark, curly haired child, so maybe this one will be the one!

Doing a bit of tidying today, just getting sick of the mess. I am also making a nice loaf of bread, it already smells yummy!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 12/09/2008 13:38

you don't want baby moving down like this, believe me. I feel like I'm being ploughed up inside. I don't think I have any problem with my scar, I just think the muscles and skin are very tight at that point.

Ds was red at birth but it all fell out and went blonde. DD was dark and has gne fair without shedding any. Neither scenario like me. I'm thinking maybe this one, too.

Thanks Pinkym and yes to the achey bump! who was it that was experiencing painful movements around the bellybutton? Me too!

I mentioned it to the MW at my dash to the hospital last weekend... she said it was maybe the head or a foot to which I replied god I hope it isn't the head that would mean its breach!

Poor you Heartmum breathlessness would be awful. One of the (only) advantages of being tall is I never get that unless I need to climb stairs. Even heartburn doesn't last too long with me. But then I have had the most horrendous migraine this week so guess that's my comeupance! (sp!)

I didn't get stretchmarks last time either, DS was full term by time he arrived, my mum never got them ether and I was 3 days late app. Definately think it is luck of the skin there and like everything else I don't expect the same with this one. Still convinced I will get a devilchild who won't sleep, BFeed, eat etc etc. Not counting any chickens!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 12/09/2008 14:19

I have been feeling very out of puff the last few weeks- the achey bump is definitely replacing that feeling so I think the baby is heading south. I'm getting loads more wrigglings and pushings against my bump this time- but then my other two were facing my back most of the time so that could be why.

OMG I'm a crapola mum today.DS is watching Tikkabilla- not too bad except he watched the same epsiode this morning

coolkat · 12/09/2008 14:25

All those that don't get stretch marks its ok I got given your share!

Sparkle its me who keeps getting painful kicks around the middle! Little bleeder darling!

chocolategal · 12/09/2008 14:43

glad you got your work sorted coolkat, i have just arranged to come off a week earlier than planned!
really struggled with nightshift last night and my feet were so swollen this morning i couldnt get my shoes on!!!!
so after another 2nightshifts i only have 5 days to work!

no stretchmarks here, although i think it is just a matter of time......

i have had a little peek at what baby will look like after my 3d scan and i dont see any of mine or DH's features yet!!
