Hi MerryM that is sooo good you are not suffering too much with 2 of them in there! Great news hope it keeps up!

Aaah Hana I remember the days of MW commenting on my great tummy muscles with such fondness LOL! So good I never felt movements for aaaages! Funnily enough it hasn't come up again this time round . But I did kinda forget the whole rescue fitness regime in the end and then.. oops got PG again so suppose only have myself to blame there! Note to self - REMEMBER PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES!

I did go swimming last time too but started to develop symptoms of SPD so cut that short and just been too knackered the last few weeks (crap excuse I know!).

MerryMarigold · 11/09/2008 17:00

ceebee, you should see what he is doing to these poor children! will have to keep a very close eye on the real babies!

sparkletoes · 11/09/2008 17:12

Aw Merry that is so cute what a great mum you have!

Hope the speech therapy works out Heartmum, my friend's mum is a speech therapist and she finds it very rewarding so guess it must produce good results..

That sounds like a good deal Ceebs, may take a look myself altho would mean buying more neutral colours (groan) not so exciting!

chocolategal · 11/09/2008 17:35

Dozymare · 11/09/2008 17:54

hello all - so much for a day of catching up on MN - have been rushed off my feet!!!!!!!!

Creena got your email and huge huge welcome back, we were so worried when you dropped off the thread and BC. Very sorry about the SPD (also a sufferer) but thankful that all is well with you and baby.

I have no idea who sent you the books as can't find the original list - you were replaced though by someone (again can't remember as I can just about remember who I send to!!! I am sure someone else will pop along who has the lsit still, in fact would be a good idea all round to post the list on our book club thread me thinks???

Merry your twin babies for DS is a fab idea, what a lovely thoughtful mum you have and what a great idea!!!!

pink glad the sacking went ok, never a nice situation but at least it wasn't nasty

Off to bath DC's now, catch you later ladies!

DM xx

Pinkali37 · 11/09/2008 18:17

Hi All,

Just a quickie to say; physio went well. She gave me some exercises, gave me a top quality tuba grip belt to wear (imagine my delight) and told me I had a weakness on my right hip and something else which I didn't understand.

Then went to maternity section wherer they monitored Tarquin and then sent me for a scan. All is fine but they have told me that I must keep an eye on movements because this is my 2nd time of movements subsiding. In all, a successful day and got a furtehr scan photo of tarquin, who looked strangely like my cat Mosko who likes to frown. Also got told that at the moment Tarquin is approximately 4lbs and if s/he continues like this they should weigh around 7lb 8oz (but she that can't always be reliable).

chocolategal · 11/09/2008 18:34

glad all is well pinkali did they give you any eplanation for a change in babys movements?

coolkat · 11/09/2008 18:58

Glad physio wen well Pinkali, isn't the support stuff they give you sexy

Merry aw, how nice of your mum, I can just imagine how DS would be dragging carrying them round!

H2JM glad your DS is going for therapy and you can look forward to his graduation, love that blanket and did you really get that moses basket for free - Bargain!

Choco I have a pedicure booked for Monday and if doctor signs me off sick will be booking in to have my hair highlighted DD dropped the big hint "why is your hair different colours!!" - Don't you just love em!

Does anyone else's baby hurt when they kick. This one seems to really jab me at the minute and hurts particularly around the belly button area!

On subject of Pelvic floors if giving birth is easier without Pelvic floor muscles my labour will be a breeze! In the last week they seem to have weakened even more than usual. Sorry TMI

Betti · 11/09/2008 19:20

Merry love the idea of the twin babies. How thoughtful your mum is. It got me thinking about what to buy my 2 dc from the baby. When DS was born, he 'bought' DD a doctor's medical case which she got when she visited us in hospital. It was very appropriate and she loved it. Just wondering if and what your babies will be 'buying' for your dcs.

Heartmum2Jamie · 11/09/2008 19:32

Ohhh Betti, very good question! BTW, are you the same Betti and Bettispaghetti? Only I was wondering where she's gone? LOL!

Pinkali, I am glad you got some reassurances about Tarquin, hopefully s/he won't cause you concern again, at least until after the birth! Your support gear sounds well sexy!

Coolcat, no word of a lie about the moses basket, saw it on freecycle and was lucky enough to get it. Turned out the women had got it off freecycle herself and her 3 weeks old son prefered to sleep on her or in the bed, lol! I already had a moses basket in my room (which was given to me my my best friend when I was having ds2), but as my house has been extended and is a fair bit larger, I decided having a second place for this baby to sleep downstairs would be a good idea, no carrying a moses basket up and down the stairs for me. I know I am very lucky as baby things normally get snapped up. I will pay it forward again when my ds is done with it.

ceebee74 · 11/09/2008 19:34

this is what we have got DS from the baby - as a complete Thomas obsessive, we thought it was the perfect gift

Pinkali - so glad you got reassurance - you are making me wonder if I should do something about my lack of movements.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 11/09/2008 20:10

Hi all
Just thought I would check in. I am trying to get my shop sorted out- should be ready v.soon. I 'm getting in a bit of a panic because I think I am running out of time!!

Glad you like the blanket, Heartmum! The little monkey looks very snug in there- real stroke of luck about it matching the moses basket! I don't make them too heavy because a) they are for small babies, so don't want too thick a layer and b0 because the minky is very cosy!

Hello Creena!!!! I have been wondering where/how you are- lovely to have you back.

Now I must get back to work!!
xx

MerryMarigold · 11/09/2008 20:17

wow ceebee that is a cool item. wish ds was into trains! i think i am getting ds a sportacus outfit from one twin (or something lazytown-esque - ebaying it). Apparently have to get something from EACH baby, and then it is his bday 18th November (scooter, also ebaying), so it's all a bit excessive. Also, apparently it is nice for the older sibing to choose a present for the baby like a cuddly toy, which he can see in the baby's cot etc. to help 'bonding' and also to make them a card. Trying to keep costs of all these presents down, but I think it's such a nice idea, I want to do it.

suiledonn · 11/09/2008 21:00

Hi everyone, welcome back Creena.

Sympathy to the SPD sufferers out there. So far the heartburn is my only major issue. I'm not even having the awful leg cramps I had last time round.

I am getting dd a 'Baby Chou Chou' doll from the new baby, I think, as she saw it on an ad and never stops talking about it. She has other baby dolls but none so realistic so it will be like she has her own new baby to take care of.And maybe something like this from dd to the new baby.

LackaDAISYcal · 11/09/2008 21:48

Quick message for the DoctorsWife from DH. He is resending your email from his personal mail account. Let me know if you haven't received it by tomorrow.

DS has already asked what virgil will be buying him as he remembers DD buying him a present.

Went to IKEA today to get some storage solutions.....had to call DH who was on his way home to say "help" as the lugging the trolley around started to really hurt and I didn;t think I would make it to the car. Luckily he was very close.....added advantage is that he paid for everything from our savings account as well

Must take it easy tomorrow

Dozy, I have the original book club list saved on my computer. I'll email it back to you

glad you got to see tarquin again pinkali , but what a worry about the reduced movements. Are they going to get you in again for another scan?

sorry about all the SPD going around.....might be an idea for our next thread title, lol! Mine is OK if I don't overdo it........hey ho!

We got given a toddler bed for DD. I tried to put her in it tonight; she took hold of her cuddly toy, rolled over and said night. So, I switched the light off, kissed her and went to the loo. Before I even had my knickers down, she was out of bed and banging on the door....so she went back in the cot . At least having the bed there in her room will hopefully get her used to the idea. She is still very young to be in a bed, and we have another 6 months or so before virgil needs the cot as I have a crib that we will put up in our room (iirc, we moved DD into the big cot at about 16 weeks)

Right, am off to catch up on my other threads and then off to bed.

Night all.......friday tomorrow

vbab78 · 11/09/2008 21:54

hi ladies. No idea what to get DS from baby but love the idea. Really need to have a think about it. DH has said about maybe a bob the builder outfit as DS does like bob (as well as many other characters, doesnt have long attention span) and has a JCB toolbench he loves.

Merry - My DS has a sportacus outfit and loves it. Except the badge on the front ripped off on one side the first time he wore it. Honestly think it is a design flaw as I have seen loads since in shops that are ripped in the same place. However even with a missing badge DS still loves it. Even if he doesnt pay much attention to the lazytown program .

Also love the your mum's "twin" present. My DS has a dog, lady from lady and the tramp, that he adores at my mum's and he treats and talks to her like she is alive! His little friend. It is so sweet seeing him with her. Apart from my DH probably hitting the roof if he came home to DS playing with a doll. I think whatever DS did with the doll he may do with the baby , like carrying by the arms the 1st time my back is turned.

vbab78 · 11/09/2008 22:01

Last night I didn't have the jumpy achy legs but this was replaced by a sick feeling and so couldn't sleep. After about an hour I thought try sleeping on your back but propped up encase it is acid. This WORKED instantly! I feel asleep upright with 3 pillows behind my back.

On another good note DS was better behaved today dont honestly know what was up with him yesterday and a Tuesday PM.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 11/09/2008 22:51

Hi again
Lacks- I didn't put DS in a bed until his third birthday!! His cot was huge and had some rails missing, so he could get in and out, but I remember him doing this when DD was small and I turned the cot around so he couldn't get out - I felt I had far too much on my plate with the new baby to be messing about putting DS back in his bed several times a night. Just thought I'd mention it as the age gap was the same as yours will be.

Love all this talk of baby pressies. DS bought a little elephant for DD, and DS got a tea set which he loved. Not sure what I'm going to do this time.DS is forevr finding things 'for the new baby', bless him, he's soo excited

Saw my consultant yesterday and he really is fab. I'm all on for my VBA2C. He reckons I've got at least a 60% chance of success (I insisted he give me a straight answer) and that sounds good enough to me. I also have a scan at 36 weeks to check the placenta (low risk as it was posterior at 20 weeks) so I will get another chance to see DD before she is born which will be lovely.

Is anyone else starting to wonder what their baby is going to look like? I always find it such a surprise to see their little faces when they arrive- such unique little things but with bits of you or your DH all blended in.

LackaDAISYcal · 11/09/2008 23:02

thanks for that pinky. We aren't going to buy another cot so she has no option but to go into the bed......might have to get some proper bars for it though to keep her in

I am a bit scared of what DS will look like. DS and DD are gorgeous and DH and I were just discussing how we surely can't strike it lucky a third time.

I remember worrying when I was pregnant with DS that he would be ugly, then worrying that because I had thought it, he would be as some sort of pennace for even thinking it. Of course he was (and still is )gorgeous, so then I worried that he was really ugly and I was the only person who couldn't see it and people were just being polite.....I felt the same when pregnant with DD and obviously it's happening again with this one!

I am officially a nut job though so am allowed to think like this. On that note, am seeing my psych tomorrow to discuss tapering down my meds towards my due date.....not looking forward to doing that as I know I won't cope well without them

Heartmum2Jamie · 11/09/2008 23:25

Daisy, I am trying not to smile at you worrying over what your baby looks like. I know I have been there, done that and got the t-shirt x2 so far! I worried and worried about it woth ds1 and he was utterly gorgeous to me anyway, but was a very pretty baby, everyone mistook him for a girl. With DS2, I was worried, but not to the same extent. I thought he was gorgeous too. However, looking back at his baby pics, he was an odd looking little chap (not ugly, just not cute in the traditional way), I suppose because he was so poorly and had no fat to pad him out, and he had/has some quite strong features, it took him a long time to grow into his face. He is absolutely gorgeous now, not that I am biased or anything, lol!! I had not considered what this baby might looks like until i read your post!! Now undoutedly I will be up half the night thinking about it (I have bad heartburn tonight anyway and I am roasting to boot). I am sure he will look like a cross between my boys when they were born, round head, big blue eyes, peach fuzz rather than hair. I find it takes a few day/weeks for their looks to really settle so they look more like themselves rather than just any baby, if you know what I mean?!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 12/09/2008 00:59

Lol I was just saying to DH I can't imagine DD2 being as pretty as DD1- same as you thinking we can't be so lucky 3 times in a row.

I remember being struck by how almost severe DS's features were when he was born- very male looking and it scared me slightly. Like you say, Heartmum, he sort of mellowed into a cute baby as he plumped up. His first photo is very funny, though, as he looks really shiny and perky next to me, all full of morphine!

I hope I haven't sparked any strange dreams with my post!!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 12/09/2008 01:05

and as a p.s. to the cot thing- we bought our first cot on the intranet at DH's work for next to nothing, the big second cot was a donation from my parent's neighbours- I wonder if you could borrow one, at least for a few months?

I just sympathise with you as I have to put the children to bed on my own because of DH's work and it can be very stressful if the baby wants a feed. It all depends on how the baby is, I suppose. He may settle himself really well in the evening- I hope this one does- DD had a bit of a reflux issue and could get very unsettled in the evening when she was little.

Dozymare · 12/09/2008 07:10

morning ladies - loving this talk about what our babies will look like - after having 2 sons and now pregnant with a daughter I can't wait to see who she is like! My boys are NOT alike at all - DS1 is the image of me and DS2 is the spit of DH but weirdly looks like my grandma at times....odd but true!

Have been up since 6am as DS woke me up - he started school and now is up, washed and dressed in his school uniform befiore 6am he is that excited to be going to school - long may that one last!!!!!!!!!
anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend???

For those "Londontealadies" I still have not heard back from the Basil Street Hotel so perhaps we should investigate another option?????

ceebee74 · 12/09/2008 08:36

Morning all

Loving the talk about how our babies are going to look. Same as Pinky, HM2J and Daisy, I was sure DS was going to be an ugly baby as me and DH aren't exactly supermodels but he has turned out to be gorgeous (of course) - in fact, he also got mistaken for a girl constantly upto about 6 months ago as he had longish hair and is definitely a 'pretty' boy. Me and DH keep saying how we are not going to be that lucky twice and poor 'baby sam' has got a lot to live up to!!

Just got my order through from Mothercare which is very quick - so tonight is going to be DS's first night with a pillow and duvet (still in his cot though - not that brave just yet). He does love his grobag so I hope he is ok and still sleeps like an angel as he has always done - keep your fingers crossed for me ladies!!

I didn't realise DS was supposed to buy the baby something - better get my thinking cap on.

mum2becks · 12/09/2008 08:51

morning everyone, hope everyone is feeling ok today!

Love all this talk about what our babies will look like When dd was born she looked like a mix of both myself & dh, my big dark eyes (even though they are all blue at first they were so dark it was obvious they would turn brown) but dh's little nose and dark hair! But since about 6 months old she is the double of me when I was little

ceebee I switched dd from her grobag to duvet when we had the really warm spell in the summer and she was fine but since its turned cooler she does wake usually once a night when she is uncovered and cold!! lets hope your ds doesnt move about as much as my dd!!

I also made the switch to big girls bed 2 nights ago and the first night she slept in it no problem, then last night she asked to go back in her cot so dont think its going to be as easy as I thought
