Creena, Welcome back!!

Bump seems to have been slow yesterday and up to now today. I will see what happens up until I go to physio, as I could always pop in to the maternity section (although i was only there 2 weeks ago with exactly the same thing!) I feel like such a whinge.

Creena · 11/09/2008 10:47

Awww, thanks ladies - that's so kind of you.

Pinkali - I also have days where bubba seems a lot less active than usual and patterns of movement seem to change too. Generally speaking, bubba likes to move when I'm still (sitting, trying to sleep etc) and quietens down when I'm up and about. We also get quite a bit of kicking if DH puts his head in my lap and talks - there's a sudden burst of foot action where DH's head is positioned!

Creena · 11/09/2008 10:49

Also meant to say that I think bubba will become less active in this final stretch as there is less room for him/her to move about. It won't hurt to ask at the maternity section as you're in the neighbourhood anyway. It will be good for you to have a bit of reassurance from them, rather than worry about it.

sparkletoes · 11/09/2008 11:02

Morning all

Hi to Creena! Welcome back!

Pinkali - I def have days when baby is less active than normal but as long as the movements pick up again at some point I don't tend to worry. Mine seems to sleep more when I am active and jump around when I am resting tho! Had read that some babies are soothed by their mother's movements (more whooshing of blood noises or something..). Def mention it to your MW tho if you are concerned.

I remember from last time I was PG the MW told me to count 10 movements per day but don't know if that is now out-dated advice... Certainly I would only worry if I noticed a decrease in movements (under 10) throughout the day. After my last conversation with my MW I would def call the hospital and get that checked but so far so good - even whilst I have been a really strong painkillers that knocked ME out baby still kickin!

ruthosaurus · 11/09/2008 12:16

Merry, am v of your well-behaved babies - mine sleeps when I've active and then kicks the sh*t out of me when I sit or lie down, the little love. I've just sat down for lunch and off it goes . Love it really, though.

Pinkali, one of my students told me yesterday that she never felt any kicking with either of her pregnancies but did notice when the babies turned around.

Back and pubic pain - ow, ow, ow! Can recommend band thingy from Mothercare - it felt better even trying it on in the shop. I think I may have bought the M rather than the L out of vanity, rather than fit, although it hasn't pinged across the room, yet.

Anyone else getting really hot and sweaty at night? I woke up last night wringing wet (sorry if TMI) and apparently I have now started talking in my sleep as well, dammit. He says I was saying something about being too hot because I wasn't getting enought calcium and then asked DH if I was asleep .

DH HAS FINALLY DONE ME A PEDICURE!!! Bless that man. I now have lovely feet and beautiful toenails, although who doesn't know that you're supposed to cut straight, not rounded? Funny man. At any rate, I am no longer ripping up the carpet when I walk and can wear my sandals without shame.

I got a room thermometer that's also a night light last night, purely because it's cute and egg-shaped. I plugged it in and then found out that our house is far too hot for a baby. Yikes. The poor little tyke will be sat there in just a nappy.

coolkat · 11/09/2008 12:54

Pinkali have some coke or chocolate that may get baby moving. My bump funny today, lying on sofa and it went really hard and hign on one side, like a ski slope!!

Well off work today and going doc's tomorrow. Saw physio yesterday as she had cancellation. Got told off for not using crutches so now DH is on my case. Feel like shoving them up his arse, find them really hard to use and now my frigging arms hurt as well!

Boss phones yest and says to many risks at work and they would prefer it if I had a sick note and to stay off and then start ML at 36 weeks. Just feel loads of work still to do so doing bits by email.

Feel a little bettr than yest, still feel bit off a failure IYSWIM.

Like the sound of your egg thing and having a warm house ruthosaurous, I got a cardboard thing says the number in green is the temp of the room, problem being I am either colour blind or our house is off the scale

Good luck at physio Pinkali.

ceebee74 · 11/09/2008 12:58

Welcome back Creena

Pinkali - glad the sacking wasn't as bad as you expected although I imagine you still feel pretty crap about it.

My baby rarely moves at all - never mind some days more than others!! I did mention it to the MW last week and she did say about the 10 movements a day - which I probably just about get - although they tend to be in batchs so I probably get 2 or 3 lots of movements a day with about 3 or 4 movements each time. It is strange as DS was quite active (although still not to the extent I have heard other mums talk about) but having spoken to other mums about it, it seems that some babies are just less active than others - and I obviously have one of those. Now I am keeping everything crossed that this continues once he is born

sparkletoes · 11/09/2008 13:27

That advice still holds then Ceebs, that's good as I have been sticking to the '10 a day and all's ok' rule this time too. Mine are also in batches and often happen after I've eaten (like now!).

Oh yeah glad everything went ok with the guy at your office Pinkali, know I wouldn't have enjoyed that either even tho he obviously had it coming.

I feel quite a bit better today, still a bit of a dizzy feeling but head nowhere near as painful as it was. Still feel awkward about taking Monday off too though .

LadyBuzz · 11/09/2008 13:36

Welcme back Creena good to hear fro you, hope you get thehouse sorted soon.
Pinkali glad you got today out of the way and hope physio is helpful. My baby is really active all of he time but DS was very lazy by comparison and if they hsd been the other way around I would have worried. I too have a friend who never felt anything with her DD.
Coolkat is it the muscles in your arms that hurt or is it where your hands press on the cruches?

OP posts:
coolkat · 11/09/2008 13:38

My muscles, think I have also found my tummy muscles!

LadyBuzz · 11/09/2008 13:49

Its awful isn't it, you just seem to hurt all over! If your hands get sore I found sellotaping dusters around the handles and hen covering them with a tubigrip helped loads i just gives you a bit of a cushion!

Heartmum2Jamie · 11/09/2008 14:00

Welcome back Creena! I absolutely remember you, which is a miracle as I am soooo forgetful right now, lol!

Pinkali, I am glad the sacking went well, or better than you were anticipating

Sparkletoes, glad you are feeling a little better. Don't feel bad about Monday, you need time to recoupe properly or you will be off again before you know it.

Pinky, I got my blanket and am in total LURVE with it! It's gorgeous, lighter than I thought, but warm and soooooo, soooo soft! The boys love the toy that came with it, lol! It goes with the moses basket I picked up off freecycle the other day perfectly (which will actually get more use than the one upstairs as baby will be downstairs with us unless it's night time), the lilac minky matches the basket cover trim exactly, have a look at my profile, top pic!

As for movement, this baby moves a fair bit now but didn't really become active until 28 weeks. I told the midwife the other day I never remember the kick chart and she said that common sense is enough, I know when my baby moves most and if I was at all worried, to call and get checked. I don't have need to worry, he is always hiccupping or trying to wave at me from the lady garden/jungle, or kicking hard in the ribs.

Betti · 11/09/2008 14:02

ruthosaurus - I'm also waking up sopping wet.Apparently night-sweats are another lovely part of being pregnant (how attractive!).

This baby never stops moving. It ranges from real kicks to a sort of rippling. I have never had a baby move this much and I'm hoping that it doesn't mean that it doesn't sleep well.

Just washed loads of neutral baby clothes but it's pouring down (so what's new) so I'm never going to get them dry. Think I'm going to have to succumb to a dryer.

sparkletoes · 11/09/2008 14:17

Sorry to read you are suffering Mum2becks, hope it clears up soon, colds are just so annoying esp when PG.

LOL at the waves from the jungle Heartmum!! Also staying off or I will be off sick again sounds like a good excuse to me! More I think about the stuff I have had to put up with at work recently it really is no wonder I got my first migraine so yeah stuff em.

Ruthosaurus I woke up dripping wet all over my face the other night. DH thought it was probably the tablets but I had actuallly decided to try a night without them so don't think it could have been them.

I am wearing pjamas in bed at moment so legs much warmer. Haven't even had a twinge of cramp so that's been a stroke of luck!

Betti, I normally avoid my dryer as it does seem to ruin/shrink a lot of clothes BUT in rainy spells and winter it is truly a god send.

LackaDAISYcal · 11/09/2008 14:24

just posting and running, but wanted to say Hellloooooooo Creena. Great to have you back with us . We were all a wee bit concerned about you when you dropped off the thread and the book club.

Sorry about the SPD . I'm a fellow sufferer and it's not very nice at all; although mine has eased off a lot with wearing my rather attractive full bady elastic bandage.

Hope things get a bit easier for you now you aren't doing all the travelling. Talk to you soon I hope.

Will catch up later....this bloody nesting is a right old PITA...I'vegot not time for MN

Creena · 11/09/2008 14:50

Ruthosaurus - am highly of your pedicure! I have the toe nails of a feral man living in remote mountains somewhere who uses his feet as hunting tools. Not nice. I've been trying to persuade DH to give them a bit of attention but he refuses to go anywhere near them - something about me having a 'freaky little toe'.

I haven't had the nightsweats yet but I've definitely got heartburn. I didn't know that you could get Gaviscon on prescription until a week ago - it's been costing me a small fortune.

Howdy Lackadaisycal! So sorry to have dropped of the book club - bad form, I know. I'm sure Dozy will let me know where to send the two books that I've got. Annoyingly, I still haven't had a chance to read them. I know what you mean about attractive support wear - I have some rather fetching belts! I didn't know that you could get full body bandages - do they help? I'll try anything at this point......

LackaDAISYcal · 11/09/2008 14:55

It helps by holding it all together a bit more. I have a spare one if you want it? I've got your details from the book club, so will send it on if you like. You put it on in a single layer from under boobs to knees, then double it up from knees to boob...it seems to pull everything up a bit and take the weight off.....and you can sit down in it, unlike some of the more robust support belts. It can get a bit hot and itchy, but at least the weather is getting cooler now! Let me know if you need it

How is your DD (or is it DS? ). Mine is running around all over the place now, wreaking havoc and keeping me on my toes....having a baby and a 17 mo old is going to be challenging to say the least!

coolkat, sorry the SPD is so bad you need crutches. And lacks, sparkle. I feel so lucky really, I could be in a much worse state considering the size I am, but spend most of the day on my bum or lying down and haven't had any pain really at all, just bump 'pull'.

heartmum - love the picture of your basket and the blanket. I loved that fabric too, it was a hard choice, eh?! Isn't the minky soft?

Haven't seen much of our regulars pinkyminky or chocorange. I'm missing the PMA, chocO. YOUR THREAD NEEDS YOU!!! Seriously, hope your infection got better, you're probably busy trying to catch up on work and life.

I bought ds a stripey blackout blind today...he keeps hiding in his curtains and has pulled the pole down twice. The last time created a very large hole, so have decided he can't pull on the blind.

cricri · 11/09/2008 16:44

Hanaflower we did the C-section playmobil mock-up last Sunday (must be a thing with AN teachers!) and I must admit I was rather shocked too when I saw how many people would potentially be in theatre...
My MW also commented on my tight abs last week but I've been told by various people that this could make labour harder, although they will ping back more quickly after the birth. Anybody know if this is true? I did ask the MW but she was very non-committal which made me wonder if she was trying not to frighten me
Work has eased up for me this week so I've been busy sorting out the nursery and hopefully we can assemble the cot this weekend Oh and the Wee Gallery stickers look great!

MerryMarigold · 11/09/2008 16:44

Oh SWEEEEEEEET. My Mum has just given ds his very own TWINS! (A girl and a boy Tiny Tears). She made a cot out of a cardboard box and a patchwork quilt for it. He absolutely loves them and has named them 'giant' and 'baby'. He's fed them a bottle, cuddled them, taken them upstairs to his bed, sung them a lulllaby, and is currently carrying them both round the house (by the arms) in his own little playworld. He's chuffed to bits, bless him.

ceebee74 · 11/09/2008 16:46

HM2J - loving the photo of the toy all tucked up for bed in the moses basket - very cute! The blanket does look lovely with the lilac fleece.

Ladybuzz - that is the position I am in in that DS was quite active and this one isn't so it is quite worrying whereas I can see, if it was the other way round, I would have thought this amount (or lack of it) was perfectly normal. Still not trying to stress about it but I think it is also the fact the movements are so light that worry me - still more like flickers than kicks/punches

Sorry to those suffering from SPD - it really does sound painful

I did a massive order with Mothercare yesterday - have ordered a duvet and pillow for DS so we can start the transition from cot to bed - gonna start with the duvet and pillow in his cot first and try and wean him off grobags plus loads of baby vests of a variety of sizes (well, they were buy one, get one half price so seemed rude not )

ceebee74 · 11/09/2008 16:47

Merry - that sounds SO SO sweet - your mum sounds like an absolute treasure!

Creena · 11/09/2008 16:51

Couldn't resist a peek at your photos, Heartmum. Your boys are gorgeous! I love the blanket you have too - is it from Baby Leo?

Heartmum2Jamie · 11/09/2008 16:53

Just got back from a speech & language development assessment for ds2 who is soon to be 4.3. Seems he has a delay of about 6-8 months. Strangest thing is that he is blending sounds like he should be at his age, but sounds he should have had by 3 1/2 aren't there yet, lol! Trsut my boy to be a little back to front! Sooo, he is to be starting therapy with 3 or 4 other children, first session is due to start.......mid to late October, right when I am due. Go figure! I told her to put him down and would either be there myself or have dh or a grandparent take him as he really needs to start. We are hoping this time next year he can graduate from therapy.

Merry, that is soooo sweet! What a lovely idea.
