Hi rachel, I've got my first appointment on friday

Bit worried really cos I posted on here yesterday about how totally poorly I feel, sickness, tiredness, grumpy etc.

Well today it's all gone. I even managed a cup of coffee (although I thought the milk smelt funny but no-one else did!). I have been to a playbarn, done the school run three times, been out with a friend, tidied house top to bottom, managed to eat a nice big meal without heaving, took DS1 out tonight, had family round and I'm still going strong. For the last four weeks I've done the minimum possible and felt so ill!

Hope things are okay.

Claireykitten · 04/09/2008 09:06

Well I dont know how you are all managing it I spent the day curled up on the sofa yesterday unable to eat anything without being sick and then I dared to try to do some washing up when DH got home and had to give up as I nearly passed out!

I dont know how I am going to manage the next 30+ weeks if I am feeling this bad already. I am sure I didnt feel this bad last time I was going to work every day last time there is no way I could do that at the minute! I really hope this all goes away at 12 weeks this time coz it didnt last time.

I keep messing about freaking DH out saying it might be twins but I am seriously starting to wonder if it is now!

Hope everyone is feeling vaguely alive today

Claire xXx

LittleMyDancing · 04/09/2008 10:12

It does get better, honestly. Well, for most people, some unlucky people feel this sick all the way through!

I remember last time how amazing it was when the sickness and tiredness lifted - I'd actually been feeling rubbish for so long I'd forgotten what it felt like to feel normal. Suddenly things seemed soooooo much easier and things like cleaning or going to the park felt achievable, instead of like completely impossible.

I'm not there yet, but I'm hoping it might be soon

I still think it's mean that you start to feel better only after you can tell people... Workmates must be wondering what is going on with me given permanent pained/queasy expression and bizarre diet.

Still, I'm just glad it apparently DOES get better and wishing it would go quickly!

I had to sit on the floor with my head between my knees on the train to work this morning as no seats and was having a 'moment'. So embarrassing but didn't care one bit at the time.

No letter from hospital or midwives for me yet either - GP warned it could take a while though.

Is it too early to say it's nearly the weekend??
xx

Cosmogirl · 04/09/2008 12:44

Morning ladies,

Just been reading through the last few posts and it is nice to know that quite a few of us are feeling the same. I was shocked at how I have been knocked sideways by this nausea and sickness. I don't feel like me anymore, Im like this weak, useless person, who can't do half of the things she could before.

Dharma - sorry to hear you are leaving us.

Surpriseno3 - I wouldn't worry about disappearance of symptoms. Some people say this happened to them and then everything was fine. Wish mine would go away for a few days ...

Conkertree - yeah I know I should take heart from the sickness, but finding it really tough to see any positives at the moment. Have a scan on Sat, so maybe that will change my outlook.

Clairey - I too have the weird feeling about twins, though this is my first [and prob last!] pregnancy so who knows....but the nausea to me just seems so intense and there is no let up. From the moment I wake to the minute I go to bed.

DungunGirl · 04/09/2008 12:56

cosmogirl

I too have been having nausea ALL DAY - from the moment I wake up till the moment I go to bed. It is REALLY tiring isn't it!

Plus to make matters worse, bloating, gas, indigestion AND a touch of constipation! Grrrrrrrr!

I didn't know that all day nausea was associated with twins though?

I have had an early scan and unfortunately I am getting all day nausea but there is just one bub in there causing all the trouble!!!

Hoping this means it is a GIRL as I had nowhere near as much nausea with DS and no constipation at all!

Cosmogirl · 04/09/2008 13:04

Hi DG - more draining and tiring than I ever anticipated. Thought I would be one of those who felt icky in the morning or evening, not all flipping day! The fact that I am struggling to eat because my appetite has disappeared is also getting me down and prob making the nausea worse.

Sounds like you could have a little girl in there then....I have a feeling we are having a girl too - or two girls. Will find out Sat...bit nervous though...

hopeful1 · 04/09/2008 13:56

I had my scan today and all okay, just one as twins was suspected. Good heartbeat and good size, feel much more relieved now!! 9 weeks tomorrow!!!!

StorkExpectedInApril · 04/09/2008 14:26

sorry to hear your news dharma, hope things go your way in the months to come.

Sounds as though this nausea business is a full-time pregnancy hazard for many of us - mine kicked in last weekend and my appetite has been dwindling since. My sense of smell is very acute atm; my dh chose to make himself a chilli two nights ago, making enough for two nights. I had to suffer the smell of that awful food for 48hrs. Chopped onions, minced beef, barf.

I can eat some things but my stomach slams shut just afterwards. I can no longer drink my usual juice - can manage only coke or milk.

It does seem as though there is quite a bit of variability in midwifery services - I called up 'my' midwife on her mobile and she offered to come round to my house this weekend, on Sunday!, to do my first appointment! They also offer 12wk nuchal fold scans on the NHS here too (though I am having mine done at the FMC).

lixanismapolium · 04/09/2008 15:57

Hello everyone. Really sorry to read that we have lost a few since I last checked in. Very sad.If any of you are still reading the thread, I have my fingers and toes crossed for your future success.

I'm off on holiday tomorrow, so won't be around for a week. Really looking forwards to a rest from work and hoping that I won't feel too sick in the heat.

We're going with family that don't know our news, so will be trying very hard to hide whatever I am feeling.

Good luck to all of you who have scans coming up - I'm very jealous! Got to wait until 7th Oct for my first one.

Hope everyone has a good week!

BinkyB · 04/09/2008 16:15

Stork I'm moving to wherever you live - amazing service!

Anyone else still crying at ridiculous TV? I was brought to tears by Esther Rantzen's family tree last night and then laughing as before my hormones took over my life I wouldn't even have watched anything with her on it but now I'm all oh Esther I feel your pain...

April2009Baby · 04/09/2008 17:07

I had my early scan and everything looks ok. There is a bean with a 156 bpm (normal, so I'm told) heartbeat. I am so relieved!

I know that things can obviously still go wrong, but I understand that the odds are much lower once you have seen a heartbeat, so I feel I can start thanking this baby for not making me sick, rather than worrying that there is nothing there! (Sorry to those who are ill. Don't mean to gloat.)

mrsfossil · 04/09/2008 18:25

hello april glad the scan went well i had mine on tuesday and for a awful minute we couldn't see the heart beat then there it was and we saw our little bean wiggle about.

I have had to contact the midwife myself as i've had no booking in appointments. Seems my doc has cocked up because i want to go to a different hospital to the local one. So he didn't contact the local midwife. She is seeing me tomorow and said she will sort out paper work with doc.

A friend of mine works in nhs and said sometimes people get "lost" in the system so if any of you ladies feel like you are waiting a while for appointments (esp the first booking in one) then chase it up. I am definately going to make sure this midwife has my records from ds birth as we have moved area. I've also been told these records can sometimes be kept at hospital and not passed onto your main health records so if you move areas your new midwife may not be aware of what your last pregnancy or births were like.

ps sorry thats a bit long winded

salstars · 04/09/2008 18:58

Hey everyone,

I've not been posting for a while as it's been manic at work and I've been too tired to switch the pc on at home.

I haven't had time to read all of the posts in this thread but there seems to be a distinct theme of feeling sick. Sorry, but I'm 8+5 and still no nausea.

Just eating lots of marmite & mayo on toast (it's beautiful - you should try it) - so I think it's a boy because I'm off anything sweet including chocolate, which is very unlike me!

Have got my MW appoitnment next Weds so hoping for a date for my scan after that.

lauralou1 · 04/09/2008 20:33

hi all

had my scan today everything is fine apparently i am 5 weeks they couldnt see the heartbeat but they said it is normal they should be able to see it next week so i have another appointment next thursday at 8;15 so fingers crossed i will see my little bean alive and kicking

i had an internal scan did anyone have 1 of these ?

conkertree · 04/09/2008 20:41

salstars - i am off most sweet things too but then i couldnt get enough pick n mix sweets when i was pg with ds - so i'm wondering if its a girl this time.

ds took half an hour to settle tonight - was desperate to get my tea as was feeling sick and knew i was hungry, but he just wouldnt go to sleep - he probably could tell i wanted to go and sit down.

sitting on the sofa now watching old cold feet episodes.

Reesie · 04/09/2008 20:56

I'm sorry maz23 - I wish you the best and hope you see you back on the antenatal boards very soon.

x

SnoozyVic · 04/09/2008 22:24

Simple
Not perfumed
Not coloured
Doesn't make me retch!
Hurrah!!!!

Do you think i should send that to their marketing dept for their next ad campaign?

I have just purchased 4 bars of the above with my Boots points and having a wee no longer includes running the gauntlet of "vomitacious soap-smell hell" when I wash my hands.

I also splashed out on a bottle of Body shop aloe vera shower cream. It smells just a tiny bit of nothing in particular. Doesn't press the sick-button though, so I bought it.

Forgot to look for new toothpaste one of you mentioned last week though. Just done a 10 second scrub as was all I could bear. booooo

NattyThomasAndEllen · 05/09/2008 00:47

lauralou i had an internal scan today. slighty uncomfortable arent they.

i am supposed to be 6 weeks, but i am measuring at 5. i am hoping previous miscarrige last month made me ovulate late.
anyway, there was no heart beat for me neither, just a sac. due my next scan on the 15th. 10 days away !

surprisenumber3 · 05/09/2008 11:09

Been to see midwife today for my booking in appointment. My GP had booked me for consultant care as I had pre-eclampsia in first pg, but second pg was fine so she's taken me off consultant list and onto midwife care.

Got my scan on 3rd Oct - can't wait!

Feeling better lately, and my skin has gone really nice! I'm just so light headed though. Anyone else light headed?

BabyBolat · 05/09/2008 11:48

Hi all - (sorry to maybe ask a stupid question) but what happens at your booking appointment? I had to go in tot he midwife yesterday to sign for my scan appointment (which they then fax and send me a date) but sure that is not the booking in one.

Cosmogirl, It is horrendous but the sickness is in quite contained periods of time (always two or three times on the train to work and then again on the train home and then just before dinner) so in between that time, I am managing to eat little bits and get some fluid! Was very tempted to go to the doctor to sign me off this week but am on holiday for 2 weeks on monday so felt a bit bad about it!

Anyway hope everyone is feeling ok - I managed a whole dinner last night which I was over the moon about!

horsygirl · 05/09/2008 13:48

Am thinking of getting a babybond scan done as the receptionist at my surgery can't seem to get my head round the fact that I don't know how pregnant I am! She has told me I have to make an emergency appt which means phoning at precisely 8am on either a monday or a thursday and being on hold for hours. I know it sounds lame but I just can't face it!

How much is it to go for a private dating scan??

OddEyes · 05/09/2008 16:43

Hello girls!
Sorry to hear of the recent losses and hello to anyone new since I last posted - have read the thread but my brain in a sieve.
I am so wet, went for a big walk in the rain, ds lay down in a puddle and pulled out the doughnuts I had been salivating over into another puddle but feel quite good for the exercise!
My diet is awful can't eat much and when i do it is mainly salty carbs, a token piece of fruit here and there but not making 5 a day. Do you think this matters for the wee bean? Am taking pregnacare when i remember but like i say - sieve brain!

Cosmogirl · 06/09/2008 11:37

Hi guys,

BB - that is good that you have at least some breaks between the sickness. My nausea is so annoying, it really is constant and I don't think there's been a minute so far when I've not felt sick. I haven't been able to eat a hot meal in about 5 weeks and really starting to get worried that I'm never going to feel normal again ....over-reacting prob I know, but still..

Weighed myself this morning and am now 9 stone when I started out at almost 10. Can see my bones poking out, not pleasant...

Horsygirl - I am having a private babybond scan today. It is a dating one because I think I am around 10/11 weeks. It is costing us 95 pounds, which is quite a lot I guess, but hopefully will be worth it for the reassurance.

Hope everyone else is doing ok x
