25th Sept - Booking
I have told my headteacher and 1 collegue but now am slightly worried as I still haven't signed contract (working since April) and today they were talking about making it fixed term till April - no maternity pay? Arhh!

OddEyes if you were employed by them for a week or more when you fell pregnant, and are still employed in the 25th week of your pregnancy (this is called the Qualifying Week), they have to pay you your statutory maternity pay even if you're no longer working for them when the baby is born.

they don't have to pay you any enhanced benefits they offer their employees if you're no longer employed, though.

Also, they'll be very wary of doing anything that looks like discrimination now you've told them.

LittleMyDancing - I know how you feel, my DS also seems to have decided to give up on his afternoon nap. The days when I'm at long with him feel very very long. Lots of cbeebies for him while I slump on the sofa!

Cosmogirl · 02/09/2008 19:29

Thanks Fraggle. Am very tempted to go for an early scan to check everything is ok and to prove to myself there is a reason why I feel so rotten. Will speak to DH about it and see what he says.

Evening littlemy, detox and oddeyes. Nausea is getting worse so think I might try and go to sleep. Bedtimes keep getting earlier and earlier.

LittleMyDancing · 02/09/2008 19:31

they don't half pick their moments, don't they?

oh and I had a chat with DS today about the baby, following our dilemma from earlier on the thread. I steered completely clear of any talk of siblings or babies arriving and just said 'Mummy's very tired because she's trying to make a new baby in her tummy, and it's hard work. So you have to be very careful of Mummy's tummy, ok?'

he seemed totally happy with that and behaved like an angel for about.....oh, it must have been all of ten minutes

I don't know how you ladies do it - being pregnant and having other children I mean. You have my utmost respect!

loobee · 02/09/2008 20:39

I don't quite know how i cleared up toddler vomit today at 5pm (before eating tea) at the height of the nausea- what you have to do for your children eh?! It is like an endurance test! He did a poo in the bath the other night too, which he's never done before! Maybe they know?!!!

Thank God i don't have 2 or 3 or 4 others and only work part time!

leakyR · 02/09/2008 20:59

Hello ladies
I think I'm about 7 weeks, have awful morning, noon and night sickness and feel absoulutely shattered.Went to see gp today and won't see midwife until Oct 10! It seems a long way off!

This is my second pregnancy, I was/am in the April 2007 group. As a first-timer I found it a godsend. Looking forward to being able to swap questions and experiences with a new set of mums.

FRAGGLE06 · 02/09/2008 21:05

Hi Leaky

This is my second too, I also have a 16month old. This time round is so much harder. I'm off too bed, this nausea is a bitch.

Welcome to the thread.

Night all.

leakyR · 02/09/2008 21:12

Early night for me too. Going to Switzerland for a few days tomorrow.

Will pop back after the weekend.

DungunGirl · 03/09/2008 08:39

Hi ladies

Reading some of the ladies threads on here...I just don;t know how we do it!

I have a DS aged 3.5 years and I work 4 days a week in London.

Even though I have a 1.5 hour commute to work everyday, I still don't feel as flat or tired as I do after a whole day with DS! I take my hat off to the ladies who are a full time mum!

Really my symptoms are the wrong way round! With DS I only got nausea after 6pm in the evenings. However, this time, I have nausea all day long PLUS horrible indigestion.

So feel just bllluurrrgghhhhhhh....

Roll on 12 weeks...roll up roll up please!!!!!!

mathsmummy27 · 03/09/2008 10:33

Sympathise LittleMy as my DD is dropping nap too so inconsistent though, the days I really need it (eg my one day off a week...) she decides ABSOLUTELY NOT........

No ms today! Hurrah! I woke up hungry

conkertree · 03/09/2008 10:48

morning everyone

have had wee waves of nausea but nothing like what most of you are experiencing, which is worrying in itself, but as i've said before i'm not going to worry unless i bleed or something, and will just have to wait for that first scan.

hi to the new people.

stork - the smell thing really amazes me - had it really badly with ds - christmas dinner was the absolute worst - could hardly look at tinsel afterwards for a year without feeling sick. have it a wee bit this time - ds's weetabix makes me feel queasy and dh's coffee is a real turn off.

i work part time too and although being with ds is tiring, at least i can lie on the sofa when i feel like it - i find it harder at work becuase then you have to pretend to be fine or people will guess and i'd really rather they didnt just now. with ds i had a couple of times that i had to lie on the floor cause i just went white and dizzy, so touch wood havent felt like that this time- just the odd wave of feeling rough.

still got the pains down below though for whoever was asking about whether other people had them.

tristaleejac · 03/09/2008 11:07

Hi everyone, how are you all today? I'm joining the 24 hour nausea gang, it's unreal isn't it.
I'm still really weird with smells, I can't stand the smell of Dove soap! Yuk yuk yuk!
My first pregnancy I was only aware of any growing of my tummy from about 12 weeks, I'm 7+4 now and I have grown! Not anything noticable to anyone else but I can feel it. I have a wee round bump. Is that the norm for if you've had a baby before? I haven't been eating any more then usual (can't I'm too sick) so it cant be just getting fat. I thought your uterus didn't actually rise above the pubic bone til after 12 weeks? I'm no good at understanding all this!

Anyway does anyone want in on a bet? I reckon I'm having twins. If I'm wrong, well it's fun having something to debate about.
I just reckon there's more than one in there. Well I'll find out on 6th October

Cosmogirl · 03/09/2008 11:28

Hi ladies,

Tristaleejac - I have a weird feeling it could be twins too....I have booked a private scan for this Sat at 4.30 so will find out what is going on in there at last!

Still feel sick. More dry heaving this morning, frankly bored of it now.... Due to go back to work next week after being signed off by the Dr for two weeks, but don't feel any better.....not sure what to do now....

hopeful1 · 03/09/2008 11:45

tristaleejac - thats so funny I am the same. I used to use dove body wash every day but I can't stand the smell so have had to change brands. I could smell it in the evening after showering in the morning. Threw away my bath mat aswell as it was making me heave!! I also have a large tummy and this is my first pregnancy, it is clearly bloating from the progesterone for me as worse after meals!!

lauralou1 · 03/09/2008 12:06

hi everyone

SalBySea · 03/09/2008 12:24

hi everyone

I have a pre-wedding photoshoot at 3 and making myself pretty and picking something to wear is the last thing I feel like doing!

help! need motivation and inspiration - what kinda look should I go for? my tummy is hugh and bloated cause of all the sitting around and change of diet!

Dont think I'm up to going too formal!

went to bed with wet hair last night so I look like a cray lady - need to wash and style it. I just wanna stay in my PJs

conkertree · 03/09/2008 13:40

is it to get locations etc for actual wedding photos, or is it for a record of before you were married (sorry if i have missed an earlier explanation).

BabyBolat · 03/09/2008 13:51

Hi everyone!

I think I am having a real toddler tantrum day today!

Week 8 & 9 have by far been the worst yet and feel constantly sick which is horrid and am averaging about 6 vomits a day! (sorry if that is TMI!) I can't find ANYTHING that I like the taste of!

Anyway and then I spoke to a really horrible woman at the midwife centre who informed me (in a rather disapproving tone) that as I was only 10 weeks I would not even be considered for a scan yet (not even booking in apparently!) and that they don't have to scan me until 13 weeks and 6 days so I should call back in 2 weeks (when I will be 12 weeks!)

It's so annoying as I spoke to a lovely woman there yesterday who said I would be booked in ready for when I return from my holiday and was really nice about it all and then this witch called me back this morning!

Also having a horrible work at week!

Sorry for the rant!!!

SalbySea, um, maybe a nice dress with a shrug of some sort (embracing the autumnal feel!)

Cosmogirl · 03/09/2008 15:17

Hi BB,

How do you manage to still go into work when you are vomiting 6 times a day?! I am completely wiped out by it hence being signed off by the doctor. Plus I am eating so little I have next to no energy.

Just threw up - was horrible

Yeah, my hospital said might not get scan until 14 weeks, which is why I have booked a private one for Saturday. Just need the reassurance that things are ok and I am not going through this hell for nothing.

Just wish it would end so I could enjoy a second of this pregnancy. So far it has been miserable.

dharma · 03/09/2008 15:35

H guys

have been absent for a while as I had a scan last week (at 6 wks) and it did not look good.

Then I miscarried this weekend, so I guess I will not be continuing this journey with you all.

Good luck to all of you though...

hopeful1 · 03/09/2008 16:17

so sorry to hear your news dharma - am thinking of you x

conkertree · 03/09/2008 20:30

sorry to hear that dharma. hugs being sent.

cosmogirl - i know its not much of a consolation but if you are being that sick is that not meant to be a good sign that things are going well?

dh making up some chicken stock and i went into the kitchen and had to leave again immediately. cant stand the smell.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 03/09/2008 21:53

evening everyone! had my first appointment with the midwives today, but nothing really to report. Just they copied down all the info from my maternity notes over to their own notes, took my bloods etc. I'm 9 weeks 2 days today, but she said it was too early to feel anything in my tummy, so no use listening for anything. Can't remember how many weeks I was before when they finally heard something - but guessing it would have been after the 12 week scan. Anyway, she's supposed to write to hosptial for them to book my scan - so just hoping I'll hear from them sometime soon - could be anywhere from 3-4 weeks till I'll get it, depending on how busy they are. And I don't see the community midwives again until the end of October - seems ages away! lol I'll be well over 16 weeks then, I think. Anyway, guess it makes life easier if you're not constantly having to have visits etc.

OK, off for early night - really need some sleep!
