BB - booking appt for me involved midwife filling lots of paperwork out on me. Also she did the triple blood tests for rubella immunity, blood count, blood group, etc... Plus I had to do a urine sample as well. They give you a load of bumpf in a Bounty folder too - this is where you keep your notes which you bring to each appt. HTH.

Cosmogirl · 06/09/2008 18:11

Wow - quiet in here today. I am talking to myself! Just wanted to say scan went very well. Saw ONE baby wiggling about. Strong heartbeart. Two arms two legs. Least I know who is making me so poorly now!

Would highly recommend a private scan for reassurance.
Oh and the sonographer was very impressed as I got my dates exactly right 10 +4.

Gemzooks · 06/09/2008 18:12

hi all,

sympathise with those feeling sick. I do wonder if it's nature's way of keeping us away from potentially risky foods during those early weeks: most of us seem to only fancy carbs and very plain stuff.. I do love curry at the moment though (although that's also a way to 'disinfect' food, isn't it)

I'm 11 weeks now and reassured after hearing heartbeat on doppler with the midwife yesterday.. but won't feel truly relaxed till it's born!

Gemzooks · 06/09/2008 18:16

well done on your scan cosmogirl, very reassuring!

Cosmogirl · 06/09/2008 18:18

Thanks Gem. Yep, I feel a bit better about things now. Still sick as a dog, but hey now I know there's a good reason why!

JemimaPuddleduck07 · 06/09/2008 21:13

Hi all, bad news I'm afraid. Started bleeding last night and had a MC this morning. Really sad, but not nearly as traumatic as last one at 13 weeks. Been a tricky day as still cramping and bleeding heavily but had to go to a big family lunch for my dad's 65th birthday.

Good luck to everyone, wishing you all happy healthy pregnancies xx

bethdivine · 06/09/2008 21:26

oh jemima, so sorry to hear your news. was just checking to see if anybody was on here tonight, thinking of you and hope you'll be on another thread very soon. take care xxx

SalBySea · 06/09/2008 22:02

phew - feel so much better! went out and bought a new size 14 wardrobe and feel soo much more comfortable without waist bands digging in and squished boobs. (am normally a 12 but my diet of 90% salty carbs is not helping the water retention one bit!!)Am a tad worried about what my current diet will do to my blood pressure though! also a wee bit concerned about gettin into my lovely size 12 wedding dress in 3 weeks

p.s. so sorry you're leaving us jemima

BabyBolat · 07/09/2008 09:10

Oh Jemima I am really sorry - thinking of you!

BabyBolat · 07/09/2008 09:16

Morning all!

I think I have found my second true love...... ICE POPS - those really cheap long fake flavoured 10p ice pops - Cosmogirl I can't recommend them enough. They take away that horrible constant nauseous taste in your mouth! Was DH's birthday yesterday and I spent all day in the bathroom or asleep then had to go for a big dinner with friends last night and was dreading it - but 4 ice pops later the sugar fix had kicked in and i felt so much better! Even managed to get through a lot of my dinner with no running to the bathroom - much to the amazement of DH!!

SalbysSea what's the dress like - will those magic pants help?

CosmoGirl very glad you are all reassured - after stressing about the scan I got confirmation through the post yesterday of my scan date and now have 2 booked in on the same day and same time but in two different places! hmmmm its the day after I get back from my holiday and I can't wait!!!!

BabyBolat · 07/09/2008 09:20

Cosmo - you are very brave - I am too scared to go near the scales!!

Gemzooks · 07/09/2008 12:08

sorry to hear your news, Jemima.

re weight, don't know how much you're supposed to gain, last time I gained 6 kilos over the pregnancy, took a good 9 months to get completely back in shape, but so far with this preg have lost half a kilo due to just not fancying eating much. Yet have big bulge and large boobs. Will have to tell them at work this week as it's getting ridiculous..

SalBySea · 07/09/2008 21:37

Babybolat - I LOVE twisters

no tight pants are outta the question - any pressure on bladder/bloated tummy area makes me wanna puke - DP was sitting in the back seat behind me today in a friends car and he kept catching my seat belt with his foot (so it tightened on my tummy) - I wanted to puke - then kill him - then puke again

Had to buy new loose clothes because I my tummy is just too uncomfortable for any pressure

my dress is lace up so I think it'll fit but my tummy is so swollen that I think people will be speculating. Lots of fibresure and figs between now and wedding day, and I'm gonna TRY to cut down on salty carbs, ah well - if they guess they guess, as long as they are tactfull enough to not ask me

LittleMyDancing · 07/09/2008 22:15

SalbySea - have you seen Spanx make maternity pants as well? not the most attractive underwear for your wedding night, maybe, but lots of lovely support for growing bump.

morning folks - sorry to hear the news jemima.

had my parents to stay last night so told them the news which was nice - great to not have to pretend to be feeling normal for a change.

just cant wait for 5 weeks time when it can be general knowledge and no more pretending (assuming everything is fine of course).

ice pops sounds like a great idea - i certainly often want very cold water, so think they would go down well. am definately finding that forcing myself to eat makes me feel generally better after a few minutes.

went to watch my sister run the glasgow half marathon yesterday and made the mistake of walking past the portaloos as they were being removed and cleaned - i was one retch away from making a bit of a show of myself in george square as the smell was so awful, i just couldnt help it, but luckily, i wasnt actually sick. very very close.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 08/09/2008 09:30

jemima - i'm so sorry.

Kalikaroo · 08/09/2008 10:07

Thinking about you Jemima - hope you're taking it easy with plenty of TLC.

I had a bit of a horrid weekend. Don't know what I'd eaten to cause it, but had a serious bout of spewing and diarrhea (sorry if TMI!). Spend most of Saturday night in the loo and nearly passed out on the floor at one point in a cold sweat. Must have been some kind of food poisoning or something - hope bubs is ok!

I feel ok now, but pretty wiped out and I've pulled a few muscles in my stomach. Been wracking my brains trying to work out what I've eaten that was so dodgy!

I have to have a blood test taken this week to check for Hepatitis, HIV and syphilis . Anyone else getting tested for those?

Sorry to be such a moaning myrtle this morning!

DungunGirl · 08/09/2008 10:08

jemima

So sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself.

conkertree · 08/09/2008 10:57

i vaguely remember signing something last time to say i was happy for my blood to be tested for those things kalikaroo.

poor you with the food poisoning - sounds horrible.

LittleMyDancing · 08/09/2008 11:04

Yes, they routinely test everyone for those as they're illness that can be passed to the baby if you don't take the proper precautions.

Blood tests, yuk.

OP posts:
mummyontherun · 08/09/2008 13:04

On the subject of blood tests ... i am having a nuchal scan in two weeks time, (privately) and have my booking in appointment this Friday at same hospital, but because the phlebotomists at the hospital "don't understand the nuchal test" I have to go back to the hospital tomorrow for the nuchal scan blood test. I feel like Victor Meldrew (except he was never pregnant - can you imagine....) but its a round trip of nearly two hours which I will have to do after a full day at work leaving DS and DH (and more importantly - sofa) at home. so frustrated and can't believe its true - surely its just filling an extra couple of jars with the red stuff? How hard can it be?

mummyontherun · 08/09/2008 13:07

By the way - sorry I kind of gate-crashed but I don't want to go on the official list yet as am very insecure about this little one having lost another recently. Try not to be gloomy but until I've had all clear I can't let myself sink into the thrill of it all...

nigeltuffnell · 08/09/2008 13:21

Hello!
I would like to join this lovely thread please....
I'm due (by my calculation) on April 9th,
this is my second, I have a DS who is 14 months.
I was on an antenatal thread with my last pg and it was so incredibly supportive, funny and helpful that I'm back!
I've only read a little from you guys - really sorry to hear the news from Jemima,I hope you're feeling better soon.

nigeltuffnell · 08/09/2008 13:23

mummyontherun,
fingers crossed for you!

conkertree · 08/09/2008 13:50

hi nigel and mummyontherun - nice to see you both. i know what you mean mummy - i havent had a mc before but there is something about the second time round that makes me not want to get excited yet - i am much more aware this time i think of just how many dont stick - so am holding out till the 12 week scan before getting too excited.

nigel - i have a 13 month old ds and am slightly surprised at the speed from deciding to ttc to actually conceiving so am a bit nervous at having a lo still so young, but i know lots of people have even smaller gaps and they manage so will have to be ok. is your lo sleeping through the night yet? mines not so will have to do some work on that in the next few months.
