lauralou1 · 02/09/2008 12:39

hi all

just a qiuck question

i am gettting lower abdonimal pain for about 2 weeks now is any one else the same i am 5+5 weeks

DungunGirl · 02/09/2008 12:53

Hi lauralou

I had the same thing for the first 2 weeks!
It probably is just everything stretching and getting ready.

Unless you get any bleeding, then just try and think of it as a good sign.

How exciting!

mm1509 · 02/09/2008 12:53

Hi everyone,

Just been catching up today.
maz32 - I'm really so sorry about your news, I know you were preparing for bad news but it still doesn't make it any easier when you find out. You have probably seen me on the knickers checkers thread so I have been where you are before take care and hopefully see you there again soon.

Good to hear everyone else is doing good and all munching away, seem to be the opposite this time don't really have much appetite at all, only eating to keep any nausea away which doesn't seem to be too bad yet. Anything with cheese works for the moment but can definitely see the appeal in plain crisps (esp pringles yum).

DungunGirl · 02/09/2008 12:56

cosmogirl

Where about in the country are you? No scan date yet! That is really weak!

I am 8 plus weeks and to my shock, I have my 12 week scan appointment and yesterday I got a letter with an appointment for my 20 week scan in November!

Fingers crossed they'll get back to you soon!

Kalikaroo · 02/09/2008 13:15

Hi all. To everyone who's feeling wretched - there is hope !!

For the last few weeks I've been feeling like death warmed up (spewing, dry-heaves, the lot)until about 3 days ago when I woke up and actually felt ok!!

At first I completely panicked and thought that it was a really bad sign, but since I had my quick scan yesterday by my lovely reassuring MW, everything is ok. She said it was completely normal to suddenly feel ok, but said I should make the most of it just in case the ms comes back.

I actually ate a curry yesterday!!!

Kalikaroo · 02/09/2008 13:17

I'm 9 weeks by the way.

Gemzooks · 02/09/2008 13:35

lucky you kalikaroo! I'm at the point where I can't eat a bit of toast put in by a colleague in case they haven't washed their hands (getting a bit obsessive here!). everything grosses me out.. DH does NOT help, he loves saying things I find disgusting like 'would you like a cup of washing up water?'' yuk!

Cosmogirl · 02/09/2008 13:56

Lucky you Kal! I am 10 weeks today and absolutely no signs of the sickness going anywhere. Please say I'm next for sudden disappearance of MS?!

DG - I am in the Midlands, want to have baby at City hosp in Nottingham. DH managed to speak to my Dr today who blamed the midwife for not referring. She says it is in hand now but told him I won't get a scan until 14 weeks!! Not happy.....was sure it was 12 and 20 for hosp scans. I might have to go for a private one, I don't know if I can wait that long...

Living on honey nut cheerios today. I figure if they come back up won't be too disgusting...

April2009Baby · 02/09/2008 15:34

Sorry I haven't been on this thread much. I am feeling really cautious about the whole thing...

For the first few weeks I 'felt' pregnant. I didn't have MS (although did have the odd wave of nausea), but my boobs had grown a lot and I was exhausted. I was also suffering from nasty wind and indigestion (lovely!). Suddenly, this week, it all stopped (other than the boobs, which are the same) and I felt normal. No bleeding, but no symptoms either. I have an overwhelming fear that something has gone wrong. I should be 8 weeks.

After days of panic, DH and I have decided to splash out on an early scan at the Fetal Medicine Clinic that some of you have mentioned. I simply don't think I can face getting to 12 weeks without some reassurance (or, if something isn't right, knowing about it).

This is my first pregnancy and I am probably overreacting. I would love to hear stories from people who have felt the same and everything was fine. It's so hard when you have to keep the pregnancy a secret and not tell anyone, so you can't get reassurance.

Sorry if I'm bringing people down. Perhaps I should have put this on another thread...

BabyBolat · 02/09/2008 15:43

April2009Baby don't be silly, I think we have all felt panicked and worried at some point! I know I have definitely posted a few depressing threads on here when I was feeling crap!

It is my first pregnancy too and I think I am going to pay for a private scan because I just want to make sure everything is ok then I can really start to get excited and enjoy being pregnant! I think the money is worth it for that reassurance!

From what I have read and what other people say - some lucky people don't get any ms so that is not necessarily a bad sign (and believe me I would swap any other symptom if it meant I could be rid of that!!!) and you still have time - it might all come back tomorrow and you will definitely feel pregnant again!

Hope you start to feel a bit more reassured soon x

BinkyB · 02/09/2008 15:55

Hello ladies, sorry for sporadic appearances but yesterday I was so sick that I knew reading about buns, sweeties and cheese would tip me over the edge!

Have enjoyed reading through though and getting everyone's news. Welcome newbies, detoxgirl and elpis hi.

Anyway I just thought I'd join in the collective food obsession. When we were trying for a baby, my diet was organic, balanced, nutritious. Now I have 2 little beans to feed, all I managed yesterday was

  • toast and jam (puked up again immediately)
  • iced bun
  • cheesy wotsits
  • 3 bites of mashed potato (puked)
  • bananas and custard

...those poor babies! Today am eating like a trucker.

loobee · 02/09/2008 16:03

Hello there! Can i join?!

Am due 23rd April i think, so only 6+5 but feeling crappy with all day nausea for last week or so. Keep reminding myself it is a reassuring sign whilst i lie there unable to get to sleep at night!

Have a DS 20mths, so on my days off am kipping in his nap time- the luxury of only having one other child eh!

Feel better having read all your comments and so good to know there are lots feeling just the same as me. Am also eating hourly which is the only thing that helps. Will be obese by the time am 12 wks!

DungunGirl · 02/09/2008 16:10

April2008baby

Don't feel bad about voicing your worries. That is what we are here for.

I think it is always best to be cautious in the beginning anyway because the unfortunate truth is that before 12 weeks, things are very fragile.

However, loss of symptoms alone is probably ok. As long as you have had no bleeding.

I asked my midwife this question as I had slight bleeding just before 7 weeks and was convinced that my nausea was gone.

However, when had a scan there was bubba and a strong little heart beating to boot!

I think you should do whatever it takes to put your mind at rest, after all - stressing isn't good for you or the baby either!

Once you have the scan and see baby, you will be a lot more relaxed.

Good luck! Fingers crossed!

April2009Baby · 02/09/2008 16:36

Thanks BabyBolat and DungunGirl. It's good to know that at least I'm not going mad!

The scan is on Thursday, so I will let you all know how it goes. Fingers crossed for good news.

It's ridiculous isn't it? If everthing is ok, I shall feel so lucky that I seem to have skipped MS (although DH said he would prefer that to the wind!), but at the moment I am just so stressed that it is 'a bad sign'.

Sigh. I am normally such a rational person...

LittleMyDancing · 02/09/2008 16:48

Oh no.

This can't be true.

At this exact moment, when I am feeling truly terrible......

...DS (2.4) has decided he no longer needs an afternoon nap.

I may cry.

I've felt awful these last two days - I've not wanted to eat or drink my usual food/drinks. I went food shopping in Sainsbury's this afternoon and it was terrible, I could smell everything: veg, fruit, perfume wafting in the air, fish, etc, I was glad to pay and escape into the fresh air. It's bizarre how usually, our brains just don't register all these myriad smells, then all of a sudden during pregnancy, our olfactory capabilities hit the roof. Yuk.

surprisenumber3 · 02/09/2008 17:32

I feel so positively awful.

I am lying on my bed with the house a mess (although I have done washing and loaded dishwasher and made beds!).

I have felt sick all day, I am so tired, I can't think straight and I look so puffy faced with black eyes and greasy hair.

Haven't made dinner or ironed DH's work shirt or made his work lunch for days and days....can just about get DS's washed, dressed and fed! Bless them though they're being ever so good

Never had this with other two pg's.

Just wanted a moan really.....

horsygirl · 02/09/2008 17:53

Can I hang out over here? Don't know how pregnant i am yet but pretty certain its april. I have a ds who is 7 months and i feel like shite!!!

hopeful1 · 02/09/2008 18:13

I have spent weeks on here moaning about all my symptoms and they have also started to fade so also a nervous wreck!! I have got sore boobs and stll tired and bloated but back on chicken and smells dont bother me as much. Spoke to a friend who is 14 weeks and she said the same but saw heartbeat at 12 week scan so i think its quite normal to be totally irrational!! I have my scan on thursday and am counting down the hours for a bit of reassurance.

Cosmogirl · 02/09/2008 18:26

Welcome horsygirl - 'course you can hang out with us! Think we are all feeling as shite as each other at the moment - roll on second trimester!

SurpriseNo3 -Your day sounds pretty similar to mine. I have spent most of it lying on my bed, very still, because this seems to help with the nausea. I have dry heaved twice today, and brought up a little bit of sick which tasted revolting! I managed to clean the loo, sink and shower, but the rest of the house is a tip and have sooo much washing to do it isn't even funny. Think I'm going to need to use a laundry service.

BinkyB - weird that you feel sick one day and can eat lots the next. I just seem to feel the same every day. Nauseous and unable to cope with the thought of eating at all.

FRAGGLE06 · 02/09/2008 18:29

Hi Ladies

I hope everyone is as well as can be expected. I seem to be surviving on toast, jacket potatoes and coca cola. I can't even watch masterchef without feeling violently ill.
I had an ealy assessment scan (im 7 weeks) at Babybond in Ashford, Middlesex today. I can't recommend it highly enough. The staff were so lovely and it has really set my mind at rest seeing my little bean's heartbeat. It certainl makes the awful nausea that bit more bearable.

Cosmogirl · 02/09/2008 18:35

Hi Fraggle,

I am thinking of using Babybond for an early scan. Would you mind giving a few more details of your experience? Were they able to do it with jelly on tummy? I am ten weeks so a bit further on than you.

FRAGGLE06 · 02/09/2008 18:45

Yep, on the tummy. They couldn't pick anything up at first as I apparently have a tilted womb. They sent me off for half an hour to have more to drink, although you are quite welcome to stay there and have water, tea, coffee etc. I recommend going with as full a bladder as you can bear to avoid this. They don't rush you though which is great and take as much time as is needed to get the best result. You will get a couple of pictures and a little report. You will no doubt be able to see far more of your little one than me at 10 weeks.

detoxdiva · 02/09/2008 19:16

Oooh, I hadn't thought about an early scan but Fraggle you've got me thinking!! Would love to see the heartbeat, and it certainly would help to cope with the nausea.

Just like to reassure those ladies worried about having no ms - I didn't have any with dd, and had a perfectly healthy pg, so please don't worry - am v !
