Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

welcome to new ones and congartulations

displacementAct sorry to hear but chances are all is ok, I think parenting, from conception is nature's way of ageing us with worry

as for BD I decided to go with it but not very relaxed

DisplacementAct, is it heavy? I think bleeding is fairly normal but maybe call MW for any further advice, they might want to check you.
Take care and try not to worry.xx

momino good luck with the healthy eating - it is so hard though! I am also addicted to Hob Nobs!

displacement Sorry to hear about the bleeding, but it could be implantation bleeding? Mine was certainly bright red for the first two days. I know it is next to impossible but try not to stress too much and take it easy. Let us know what the MW says?

Hello and congratulations to Detsy, seshasapinkline, DarrellRivers (whose MN name I have long coveted), wobblypig and Mamakim. Also welcome to anyone who I have accidentally missed - this thread is growing so fast now it's hard to keep track.

It's interesting to see when other people think they might tell their older children about their pregnancies. My DD is probably a bit young to understand but in many ways I would love to tell her now, if only because I would love to see her reaction (she is utterly hard to predict so I just want to know what she thinks). The problem is that I know for sure she would tell all of her little friends and (worse) her nanny and I am not ready for the entire world to know yet.

MissEdith LOL (and ouch) at the thought of giving birth to Thomas the Tank Engine. Let's hope these babies are more ergonomically designed!

JustgotBFP I hope the cold is better. I don't think I would get a smear. I would just be worried that it might irritate my cervix somehow. Maybe I am being paranoid though (quite possible).

Jaamy Lucky you getting a lie-in. Mine still hasn't materialised and like lots of you when I am not drinking gallons of water, feeling faintly queasy or having alarmingly vivid dreams I am sleeping. Am just soooo tired.

InnI I am really glad your scan went well and that the Doctor is taking good care of you.

Displacementactivity have you tried re-testing? There are lots and lots of stories of women spotting and being fine (and I don't believe that red blood is automatically bad, it is just that brown blood is often not bad IYSWIM). Anyway, no advice from me but I am sending positive, sticky thoughts to you.

Hey everyone and especially you displacement. I don't know if you have read my last post. I had some bleeding last night was bright red but just once I wiped. I'm been having for a week brown discharges so I went to the doctor this morning. You can read from my post before. I think you should ask if they can check you with a vaginal ultrasound or give you some tablets to stop the bleeding. Don't worry. It happened in my first pg too and it turned out ok. best of luck and take it easy

SesHasapinkline · 01/09/2008 17:14

Hello all!

inni - whereabouts in Czech Republic are you? I went to Prague a few years ago and loved it - really beautiful!
Also keeping fingers crossed for you and displacement . It is likely implantation bleeding but you're right - if concerned, get it checked.

DisplacementActivity fingers and everything else crossed for you, hope you will be back with us soon.

inni glad to hear the scan went well and that your bleeding is being sorted out. I had a look at the ultrasound gallery on the FertilityFriend pregnancy site and I'm amazed it's possible to see a little blob so early.

Congratulations mamakim and wobblypig (love your name!)

I'm having some more queasiness but it seems to come and go, I feel fine at the moment.

What is everyone doing about cutting out/down on caffiene? A friend of mine cut it out religiously but I'd find cutting out my morning tea impossible! I just don't feel like herbal tea first thing in the morning.

llareggub · 01/09/2008 17:59

I'm down to 2 cups of coffee a day. To be honest it doesn't taste all that great so it isn't hard!

I went to see the GP today because I've had 2 early miscarriages already this year. She was very lovely, and very helpful, and suggested that I take baby aspirin. She has also referred me to see a consultant and an early scan, which should take place in the next two weeks or so.

I'm very pleased that I've got the consultant referral, as he was the gynae who got me pregnant first time round with DS!

displacementactivity, just thought I'd let you know that with DS1 I had a very heavy bleed, bright red, at 8 weeks. He turned out to be rudely healthy. Fingers crossed for us all.

Sometimes I wish that we didn't find out about pregnancy until at least the end of teh first trimester.

SpangleMaker · 01/09/2008 18:29

llareggub great that the GP was so helpful and that you're getting the best care you can.

12 weeks seems aeons away. It's really hard wanting to be excited but not daring to be. I've allowed myself a bit of time to think about what I'd need to do by when (work, house/decorating stuff etc) if it all goes well but am now just trying to take one day at a time.

SesHasapinkline · 01/09/2008 18:30

I've never drunk tea or coffee so you may think I'm not concerned about caffeine, but even worse I normally drink diet coke and I hate water. I've been trying to drink a little each day for over a year and not always suceeding.
As a result I've switched to caffeine free diet coke (max 2 cans a day) and am forcing myself to drink at least 1 litre of water a day. I know that doesn't sound much water but it's so much more than normal...

SlippersAndPipe · 01/09/2008 18:47

Hi all. Wow so many posts! Hello to all the newbies.
Displacement - fingers crossed for you. Look forward to seeing you back here soon.
Inni, Darrell - I too am getting really worried about 2 days of brown discharge. It's quite light but sent me into a mad panic yesterday. I'm frequently going to the loo just to stare at my knickers . I didn't get this with dd so freaked out a bit. Inni it sounds like your GYN was very helpful, and everyone elses words are reassuring.
Spangle I drink peppermint tea (I'm not a hippy either ) and really like it.
Went to bed at 8pm last night. Feel much better for it today.

SpangleMaker · 01/09/2008 18:48

One litre a day is good, 1.5 is the recommended amount but I reckon most people don't drink that.

Had some Fentiman's dandelion & burdock the other day and loved it, lots of people hate it though, it's a love/hate thing like Marmite.

SesHasapinkline · 01/09/2008 18:57

Well I have my litre bottle in front of me at the moment and I'll be lucky if I've had 200ml so far! I'll keep going though!

Not so keen on the dandelion & burdock myself - definitely a love/hate thing I think, Spangle!

Am wondering if I'm going to wake up at 4.30am again... Getting a bit frustrating!

Olderbutnotwiser · 01/09/2008 19:01

Hi everyone, after a few days of lurking I have been brave enough to join you. Another one due on May 1st. A little nervous cos i've had miscarriages in the past. Still getting used to the idea of finding out i'm pregnant. Have a DD aged 21, DS1 19 and DS2 with xDh and a DS aged just 4 and a DD just 2 with DH. My relationship with DH has been difficult for some time, we have lived apart for over a year and he finally ended the relationship 6 weeks ago. We are still on very friendly terms ( been together 10 yrs and i still love him lots but there are issues ) Anyway I have to do On Calls as part of my job and he came over to babysit in case I got called out and we ended up sleeping together. The BFP was a shock as I had a coil put in in February. I have got a scan on friday to see if its still in and if so where. I'm pretty sure it must be out.
I think my DH will go ballistic. We are on good terms at the moment but I know he does not want any more children. I got pregnant whilst on the pill last November and I wanted to keep it and he was trying to presuade me to have a termination. Had a miscarriage then so the situation resolved itself. Now i'm single i hope he just leaves it up to me. I'm not too worried about being a single mum of 3 little ones. From what i remember of when my bigger ones were little the jump from 2 to 3 isn't as hard as the junp from 1 to 2. Plus my DS starts school next week and my DD will continue at nursey during my mat leave if all goes well.

SesHasapinkline · 01/09/2008 19:05

Hi Olderbutnotwiser! (Loving the name )
Welcome!
When do you plan on talking to your DH? Hope it goes ok but we're here if you need to offload.

Jaamy · 01/09/2008 19:15

DA - hope that bean sticks and you get stuck with us for the next eight months or so.

inni and Slippers - hope the bleeding is just implantation.

BSOL - I don't have the thirst either. Hope your early bout of nausea means that you won't feel queasy for long.

I drink far too much tea (anything up to 8 cups a day) but mostly only half cups as they go cold before I get chance to finish them. Though I do have at least one cup of green tea a day too. Trying to up my water intake as was unable to drink even that in my last 2 pgs so need to get nice and hydrated before in case MS sets in.

Had a cuddle from a nearly-6-week old baby girl today...lovely.

Jaamy · 01/09/2008 19:18

Olderbutnotwiser - I wish I could offer some advice on Xs. Hope things work out and that DH leaves you to it if that is what you really want. Feel free to offload here. Will stop us talk ing about water intake!!!!

inni · 01/09/2008 19:56

Hello
I was a bit worried early on cos I read something on the net about this hormones GYN sent me and said don't take if you're pregnant. Later I read hasn't being prove that can harm the baby at all. Is used to prevent miscarriage in early pregnancy and make stronger the Uterus linen wall attach to the sack. So I'm really relieve. I give this information for those who are worried about having bleeding may check with your dr about taking it (Duphaston is the hormone didrogesterone)
Olderbutnotwiser I admired you for being able to manage your life and a huge family. I love big families but I wouldn't be able to have 5 or 6 although maybe open to 4. I guess the decision is in your hands and definitely this egg was meant to be fertilized, otherwise wouldn't result a BFP, so if when you go to the Dr is still there is just you who matters. If you think you can cope with the situation go for it, no matter what. Will see you around if everything keeps in place.good luck
pinkline I do live in Prague and is certainly beautiful.

missEdith · 01/09/2008 20:11

DA take care don't worry about depressing anyone it is part and parcel of early pregnancy

oldernotwise sorry about the current situation no useful advice but feel free to rant congratulations

about caffeine I always go off coffee but like my morning cup, otherwise stick to peppermint and roibos tea

it is a right pain having to change names when I want to post

hope everyone is ok tonight and welcome to new ones

missEdith · 01/09/2008 20:19

about early scans my previous GP allowed me a scan at 5+4 to easy my mind previously I had lost at 12wks
but last year my new GP refused and I booked a private one for 8wks but miscarried days before that date, she then sent me to EPU with no fuss

not sure what to do now but might make an appointment to see her at 6wks all being ok
