Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

welcome greenfingered and runningmonkey! greenfingered, i'm also a second time mum here, but i have no tips i'm afraid , we were aiming for as small as poss gap between dd and next one ... in nine months when i have a newborn and a 15mo, i shall prob be found quivering under a table.

runningmonkey, yeh it it so strange not to be telling anyone, isnt it? my family are coming this week an not only will i have to hide the fact i'm neither drinking nor smoking, but me my bro and my sister are all entered into a half marathon at start of nov and i will have to pretend i am still training for it. oh the lies! but oh thank goodness for the excuse not to exercise....

spangle - i got loads from the yogabirthing stuff i did before dd;s birth. even tho' it ended up a lot more medicalised birth than expected, the stuff i'd learnt about my body and birth was main reason imho i didnt have intervention (forceps, ventuse, cs etc). i've met people who've had great births - and i fess i'm a die hard optimist myself!

bluebell are you married to tom cruise?? . that is such a lovely birth story. i was about to post on the childbirth bit asking people's experiences of hypnobirthing.

jools - i reckon if the bodyfat thing could be harmful it would be quite well known about and would have been written on side of the box in big letters.

bekkaboo at your showing so soon. i remember reading a thread in the pregnancy section ages ago about how soon people started to show. one woman said ds1 - 5 months, ds2 - five min after sex . i secretly fantasise about twins. if you're concerned, could you pay for an early scan?

swottybetty · 23/09/2008 21:49

rofl - dh just wondered when i'm going to turn light off. i said i'm just going to check out hypnobirthing. he said "rohypnol-birthing?" ...

bekkaboo · 23/09/2008 21:54

Hi Pulapula my cycles tend to range from 22 days to 28 so who knows!

Swottybetty, its no joke, my neighbour says looks 5 months not 5 weeks, mate said soon as saw me, god are you expecing again?!?! then in next today, lady said when you due!

Im going do a pic when DH home tomorrow to show you! the huge bulge starts rights under boobs and it ver firm, ridges at belly button then not so hard.

Im at midwife next week so will see what she says, im sure she'll have idea whether too big, although im 100% on my dats but was last time and scan bought it forward 2 weeks the DS born 2 weeks early so guess a month out all in all!

llareggub · 23/09/2008 22:10

bekkaboo I am similarly afflicted with a big tummy. I'm even in maternity jeans!

bekkaboo · 23/09/2008 22:16

ha llareggub thats good news for me, how far you gone? are you having tins aswell?!?!?

Seriously now, are you looking really pregnant or bloated??

pulapula · 23/09/2008 22:46

I can't wait to get back into maternity jeans- they're so comfy!

It will be nice to have a firm tummy again- still got a wobbly one after having DS.

Dandelioness · 23/09/2008 23:12

Hi bekkaboo, and at two people asking you in one day. Have you actually put on weight? I showed early with my first pregnancy, I put on 5lbs within two weeks of conceiving. Then had MS that lasted until Wk 17 so didn't pile on any more pounds until then, but I was rather horrified at putting on that initial weight so quickly, worried it was going to be an on-going trend throughout the 9 mths ...

If twins run in your family, maybe you could speak to your GP about it? Have you seen her/him yet?

On a side note - I didn't realise pregnancy tests worked only two weeks after last period - wow.

Dandelioness · 23/09/2008 23:16

Pulapula - I was thinking that very thing this evening looking at wobbly belly in mirror and looking forward to baby firming it up. Rather sad state of stomach affairs really when it comes down to this

llareggub · 23/09/2008 23:28

DS assures me that I look pregnant, not fat.

In fact we visited a tile shop at the weekend, together with DS is his buggy. We needed to look at tiles on the first floor and the lift was out of order. The saleswoman insisted on helping DH carry the buggy upstairs because "I shouldn't in my condition."

She then got me a glass of water because I looked hot

So yes, I do look pregnant!

swottybetty · 23/09/2008 23:38

ooooh, if we're thinking about bellies firming up, can i do a shout out for the boobs filling out and firming up once more?? bye-eeee ye puppy dog ears . lol dandelioness re sad state of stomach affairs. i had what everyone called a near bump last time and thought i'd kept quite trim. it was only once dd here and the bump was gone that i realised just how enormous i'd got. i can understand why the body needs more flesh on boobs and hips and tummy to bear a child - but there surely isnt a biological reason for huge cellulited thighs???

Imnotok · 24/09/2008 08:41

Morning everyone hope you are all ok.
Morning sickness is kicking in this morning I had forgotten how awful it is bleurgh .

Moonlit · 24/09/2008 10:38

Hi Ladies!

I hope you are all doing well?

This pregnancy is making me feel so unwell. I can't sleep at night, because I have to pee about four times. I feel nauseous all day long. I am hungry but don't want to eat anything. Basically my pregnancy symptoms are worst than they were with my DD. I keep telling my DH 'I am having twins' I like scaring him. I have twins in my family, so he is REALLY SCARED!!!. But says it will be a blessing if we did.

So are any of you expecting twins? Probably to early to know this yet?

Ok off to have a bowl of coco pops with DD

x

Jools1 · 24/09/2008 10:46

Hello Moonlit

I'm used to getting up to pee usually once every night, but last night was THREE TIMES ! So, I think that symptom has started in earnest now (am 4+5 today) Nausea, but no sickness yet ...

As for twins, I know the likelihood goes up as you get older, and part of me is thinking that it would be nice to get two at once, since I'm 38 now !! On the other hand, the thought of being a first time mum with two newborns to look after is terrifying

No idea when I'll find out - my area don't do 12 week scans so I may have to go private - can't possibly wait till 20 weeks to see beanie

WobblyPig · 24/09/2008 11:24

Hi Moonlit, also worse symtpoms here than frist time and that was pretty horrible. Have had a shot of acupuncture yesterday for the sickness as was completely debilitated . Benefit yet to be seen.
I also wondered about the twin thing - this would terrfiy me.

Moonlit · 24/09/2008 11:51

Hi Jools1 and WobblyPig

I am 30 and we paid last time for a nuchal scan at 12 weeks. However, now the PCT allows it on the NHS. About bloody time to. I remember reading an article where in some counties you pay and in others it's available on the NHS.

Yesterday I had a whole packet of jaffa biscuits. When I can stomach it, I am eating three times my normal portion. However, I have not put on on any weight, in fact I am loosing weight. Very weird!!!!!!!

I took out my maternity clothes on the weekend. i can't wait to wear them. Some are brand new. I have a tendency to stock up in sales. I am glad I did now! I love maternity clothes. So much fabulous stuff around these days.

Also, I am boiling one minute and freezing the other.

It's so lovely being pregnant . I love it! Being sick and all!!!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 24/09/2008 15:15

Dear ladies, I wanted to give an update to what is happening and hope that some of you will have some advice or support for me as life is being challenging.

At the weekend I had really achy legs and decided it was leg cramps due to low magnesium and took some supplements.
I was WRONG! I am not a doctor I am an idiot! Started feeling dizzy and faint on Sunday and got worst on Monday so went to Drs (for some correct advice) at same time that DH got staples out from his hip operation (he is only 40 BTW)

Dr takes my temp which is 38 degrees. Am I feeling hot and cold - yes. Ear drums are dull. He thinks I have a virus or ear/sinus infection causing the dizzyness and prescribes antibiotics. I thought I was feeling rough due to pregnancy. Thankfully he also signs me off.

Have been on antibiotics since then. However, had a rough night feeling really hot and worrying about apple pip and going to see midwife (due to major midwife/birth issues last time) which I should be doing on Friday.

This morning I have noticed some spotting. And I feel like I have period pain. Am worried. Rang Docs and they told me to rest and go to hospital if it gets worse. Scared to go to the loo incase it is worse.

Please let me stay pregnant. Only DH (and GP obv) knows I am pregnant so I don't have anyone to talk to.

citybranch · 24/09/2008 15:23

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking for a while but hesitant to post as I had a CP last time when i started posting on the due march board.

Anyway I'm 5 wks pg, due 27th may. I have a DS 21months. DH and I do shiftwork and DS has been ill this week so getting about 4 broken hours sleep each night...feeling very run down but no sickness yet so i'm coping! can't wait fo a good nights sleep though...

Jools1 · 24/09/2008 16:01

Halfmum - nothing I can say to help, but lots of sticky bean vibes coming your way. I really hope it is just baby burrowing deeper

Welcome Citybranch - I'm not far behind - GP reckons EDD of 28/05 and I think 29/05

I also had a CP in July but very very very early - 3 + 4 - so I waited till 3 + 6 to test this time !

aquababe · 24/09/2008 16:03

hmhb
sorry your having a tough time.
bleeding doesn't mean mc.
take it easy

Dandelioness · 24/09/2008 16:08

HalfMumHalfBiscuit,

You poor worried thing. From what I understand, spotting needn't mean really bad news. But if you avoid going to the toilet (completely understandable), you risk not noticing more spotting and therefore not being able to deal with the situation - which may be preventable with medical treatment - asap. If you're really worried, I'd just phone the hospital anyway and ask if you can come in. My hosptial has a special walk-in clinic for pregnant women experiencing problems. I went there during last pregnancy for something that turned out to be a false alarm.

I really hope you stay pregnant too Just try really hard not to worry, as stress won't help. Get some rest, and post later to let us know how you are. x

Dandelioness · 24/09/2008 16:12

Jools1 and CityBranch - do you mind me asking what 'CP' means? I'm assuming miscarriage, but I looked it up on the mumsnet acronym list and it says it stands for cerebal palsy, which I don't think is what you mean ...

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 24/09/2008 16:18

Thank you Dandelioness. I am bleeding a bit more now and was going to go to GP's tomorrow. I live a fair way from Hospital and as DH can't look after DS on his own due to recovering from hip op I can't really leave them on my own. I could give them a ring though to see if they think I should come in and get a friend to come over?

Dandelioness · 24/09/2008 16:23

Yes, HMHB, I think that's exactly what you should do - call the hospital rather than your GP and ask their advice rather than waiting until tom. Hopefully they'll be able to see you today. Best of luck x

inni · 24/09/2008 16:34

Hello ladies
being out of the thread for a few days, hard to keep up with all your messages as there are so many. First of all, very very sorry for the few losses in the list, hope everything goes well for you all.
I'm 8+2 and feeling more or less ok. Sick and nauseous many time during the day and the night and very tired. I nap everyday with my two kids for two hours what it's being great to cope with the rest of the day. Thanks God the spotting has finished after three weeks of worries. My belly is really huge, a lot more that in the first trimester of my two previous pgs. Family is totally shocked on how big it is so early. About the sex issue, gyn highly recommended not to after first trimester was over, just in case. For me it's ok as I'm feeling really not into it right now, I know you all understand me. Not any pain in my boobs yet, weird no?
Hope everyone is feeling really good. Have nice evening.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 24/09/2008 16:53

Just phoned midwife unit at hospital. She won't let me come in unless got a referral from GP. My GP surgery is closed today. She says if the spotting gets worse go to out of hours surgery. She also says that they won't be able to see anything on a scan as it is too early.

I am going to see my GP tomorrow and see if I can get an appointment.

Thanks for your help.
