Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

Dandelioness - CP = Chemical Pregnancy, ie you get an early BFP, but the egg doesn't implant properly and you just end up with a heavy bleed at more or less normal AF time - most people other than hardened TTC-ers and early testers wouldn't even notice anything other than AF.

I'm told it is extremely common but ppl just don't realise it is happening.

SpangleMaker · 24/09/2008 17:52

HMHB sorry you are having such a rough time. Bleeding doesn't necessarily mean bad news but it's very scary and you should get it investigated asap, to save your sanity at least. Hope you get to see someone soon. Thinking of you x

I've had some more red spotting myself this afternoon - the first for a few days. Not sure if it's a little worse than before. Think I will take the midwife up on her offer to refer me for a scan, hopefully will get an appt tomorrow.

hopefullypregnant · 24/09/2008 18:00

Hi all

I'm a name changer as not telling anyone until 12 weeks and know lots of people on Mnet, but can I join you? Due 5 May, have a DD already (10 1/2 months).

Have had a horrid time: bleeding at 6 weeks for a day followed by brown discharge for 10 days. Had an early scan today (8 weeks) and it seems all is well for now! Please, everyone with bleeding, take heart - I had assumed it was all over.

I had forgotten how stressful the first trimester is, and how tiring. Still I'm starting to be excited now!

Good luck for all of you who are having bleeding etc and I'm sending positive baby vibes!!!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 24/09/2008 19:34

Thanks for your messages SpangleMaker and hopefullypregnant. There is another thread going on bleeding in early weeks which has got some positive comments too (I would put a link here but don't have the technology).

hopefullypregnant aren't you finding it hard not telling anyone?? have you told your friends outside of Mnet? I haven't told anyone I am PG so feeling a bit lost as usually tell my Mum/friends everything. Also its my birthday tomorrow and all my family is going to ring and its going to be difficult for me to sound normal.

Have been doing a bit of crying on the sofa. DH has managed to get DS to bed somehow (as he is on crutches).

hopefullypregnant · 24/09/2008 19:46

Yes Halfbiscuit, it is really hard. I've pretended to have flu, helped by the fact that I have had a hideous cold, and so have cancelled most social activity. I found it easier to keep it quiet last time with DD when there was no bleeding - this time round I dread going to the loo and if I feel heavy discharge I am terrified it is blood. I really feel for you.

Sonographer told me it is incredibly common to bleed in early pregnancy and mostly there is no reason for it.

Keeping everything crossed for you.

carol7 · 24/09/2008 20:32

Hi Halfmumhalfbiscuit I am keeping my fingers crossed for you too!
Take care

Dandelioness · 24/09/2008 22:54

Jools1 - Thanks for explaining that, as you said, I never knew such thing existed!

Halfbiscuit - what a shame you have to wait until tomorrow. It made me realise how lucky I am to live near a big teaching hospital that has a walk-in clinic for pregnant women. I wish the medical care available didn't vary so much from hospital to hospital ...

ClaudiaSchiffer · 25/09/2008 00:01

HMHB so sorry you are having a difficult time, take care. Could you not tell your mum? If you are close to her wouldn't it be helpful to have someone in RL to help look after you?

I am still feeling sick - ugh soooooo sick. No other symptoms though unless you count going violently off tea (usually my saviour), now, wierdly, I am drinking honey and lemon, very unlike me.

Otherwise I have a day with mostly no children, hurrah, dd1 off to nursery and dd2 off to in-laws. I will mostly be lying on the bed reading. Bliss.

SpangleMaker · 25/09/2008 10:20

Happy birthday HMHB
How are you doing today? I hope you manage to get a scan and some reassurance, and also that you manage to enjoy your birthday.

Congrats hopefullypregnant and welcome to the thread! Glad you had positive news from your scan.

I've just booked a scan for 9am tomorrow morning - fingers crossed! I'm sort of optimistic about the fact that the spotting/bleeding has been on/off for nearly 3 weeks without any pain or getting worse (touch wood)... but on the other hand it's red rather than brown. Ah well, will hopefully find out tomorrow.

I was reading a thread about 'what to do on maternity leave' (ie before the baby's born) and people were saying things like 'Sit. Quietly. Finish a cup of tea. Go to the loo ON YOUR OWN. YOU NEVER WILL AGAIN!!' Eeeek! please, someone tell me it'll all be worth it??!

Dandelioness · 25/09/2008 10:54

Happy Birthday HMHB!

Hope everything goes OK today at the GP's/Hopsital and with your pregnancy - that would be the best birthday present of all.

Spangle - The going to the toilet on your own IS a problem, but yes, it will all be completely worth it.

conkertree · 25/09/2008 11:10

slight thread hijack - just looking on here cause i'm on the due in april thread but not due till 24th april - so most of them are a lot further on than me and having a lurk on your thread to see where you all are.

Anyway - noticed just how many of you are due on 1st May - made me wonder whether there was really bad telly around 7th/8th August .

frazzledoldbag34 · 25/09/2008 11:15

spangle - yes make the most of going to the loo, having a shower, drinking tea in peace, using the telephone, sleeping...... all these 'normal' activities become can become quite difficult once the baby arrives!
But in answer to your question YES it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. Don't worry!
Oh and go to the cinema as much as you can too, as you probably won't get to go for AGES after the baby comes. (unless you go to the mother and baby showings that they have sometimes - they are good - everyone takes their baby (under age 1), feeds, changes nappies etc in the cinema! It's fun.
Anyway am waffling. Feel sick most of the time and am eating like a pig to stop the nausea. Feeling very fat and quite upset actually by the shape of me already. Had DD2's 2nd birthday party yesterday and did catch a couple of people looking at me funny. My giant sticky-out tummy was quite noticeable I think even though I was trying to suck it in! And am only about 6.5 wks I think. Good god.
Congrats hopefullypregnant and I have my fingers crossed that all is ok for you halfmumhalfbiscuit - I do think that maybe it might help if you tell someone in RL so you can get some support. Let us know how you get on today. x

frazzledoldbag34 · 25/09/2008 11:17

Happy Birthday halfbiscuit - sorry meant to say that but got distracted. Duh.

SpangleMaker · 25/09/2008 12:02

conkertree it must have been the bad midweek TV - I'm due on 3rd/4th and that was a weekend thing. Just as well it hit the right time for me, I was having a can't-be-arsed-with-TTC month!

Scarily, there will probably be a due in June thread any day now.

CoteDAzur · 25/09/2008 12:03

spangle - It will all be worth it Not in the first six months, though. In fact, write off the first year after baby's arrival so you won't be disappointed.

SpangleMaker · 25/09/2008 12:08

frazzled thanks for the advice. It's probably freakishly organised but once I feel more confident about the pregancy I may write a list of things to enjoy doing before the baby comes. Don't want to be working like crazy all the way through only to swap work-related exhaustion with baby-related exhaustion!

I don't feel too sicky most of the time, just when I get hungry. I have to force myself to eat breakfast but I feel better afterwards. Speaking of which, just getting a few pangs now, better go find something to scoff.

SpangleMaker · 25/09/2008 12:11

cote I was thinking that, and then they start walking and the trouble really begins

CoteDAzur · 25/09/2008 12:14

I found it easier when DD started to walk, actually.

SpangleMaker · 25/09/2008 12:23

Did you find it easier from a looking-after point of view, or because they are (I guess) happier when they can get around properly and feel more independent?

It's a bit premature but am already wondering how we will manage from a household safety point of view (small, 'upside down' house with open plan living area/kitchen upstairs). I'm sure we'll manage though, we'll have to!

CoteDAzur · 25/09/2008 13:13

It was easier because once she was mobile, DD could occupy herself rather than expect me to entertain her throughout her waking hours. Also, at that age she wasn't saying anything so I didn't understand what she wanted. All became much easier when she managed to shuffle towards whatever struck her fancy.

Worry about safety when it comes to that, as all children are different. A friend's sun even climbed the curtains (I kid you not) so she bought and installed all safety gadgets available, but we only put in a stairgate and several electrical socket blockers. Nothing else was necessary because I showed DD insides of all kitchen cupboards and once she saw there was nothing interesting there, she focused on the shelves that contain books and CDs.

Dandelioness · 25/09/2008 14:32

Is anyone else feeling prickly, sensitive and just downright pre-menstrual?

frazzledoldbag34 · 25/09/2008 14:43

dandelioness - absolutely, I'm with you on that one. I keep wanting to cry. Not for any real reason either. Weird. Had forgotten what a joy it is being up the duff. NOT that I'm complaining really though obviously.

Dandelioness · 25/09/2008 14:46

Ah good, not just me then. I've felt like crying at least twice today already.

CoteDAzur · 25/09/2008 14:46

I'm soooo sleeepy!

Jools1 · 25/09/2008 14:54

After a very unproductive morning, I went off to Carluccios for lunch with a friend - a bowl of pasta later (followed by yummy choccie ice cream ), I've returned to my desk and the nausea has been replaced by the need to sleeeeeeeeppppp !

can't see much getting done this afternoon either !
