Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

Dandelioness · 22/09/2008 14:16

Jool1 -

That's what I wanted to say to the GP when she didn't test my pregnancy last time and just took my workd for it - how do you know I'm not just making it all up?

I phoned the GP today, but due to their very stupid system, I have to call back first thing in the morning to get an appt tomorrow, otherwise my GP isn't in again until Monday.

frazzledoldbag34 · 22/09/2008 14:41

Am just sooooooooo tired today, could sleep for a month. Intermittent nausea also sucks.
Am a grumpy old bag - anyone else feeling moody and miserable?
(although I actually don't really have anything much to be moody and miserable about when I think about it rationally!)

daizydoo · 22/09/2008 14:56

My this thread moves at a pace!! Sorry for all those who have had bad news. Hope you are all keeping well.

I am moody and tired, but DS keeps me going! I feel like I am in a fog. Went to my dentist this am (who is about 3-4hrs drive away, as there aren't many where we now live) so he can try and save my tooth. Got 1/2 way there and they phoned to cancel! I was hopping mad so am now looking for somewhere closer.

I don't have many symptoms, just intermittent nausea. If I eat lots of starchy things regularly I seem to be okay.

I won't be having a homebirth. I'm too much of a wet blanket when it comes to pain and also I needed forceps as DS was so big so I'll be very happy in hospital. Haven't been to the drs yet either...

Jaamy · 22/09/2008 15:32

I too am off the list. Miscarriage started on Thurs. Incomplete so have to wait til Fri for "removal of products" Very .

slightlycrumpled and fluffer so sorry that you are both out of the running too. Good luck to all of us for the future.

Hope the rest of you ladies have healthy happy pgs.

Take care all. J x

Jaamy · 22/09/2008 15:54

Thanks SC, you too! DH is being a star, and like you, I don't know what I'd have done without my DDs. Just want it all to be over so I can get back on track. Hope to see us back on an AN thread before too long. x

TigerGem · 22/09/2008 18:23

So sorry to everyone we've lost. Look after yourselves and hope to see you back soon.

How are people coping with the tiredness? Monday felt like the longest day ever. I jsut wanted to sleep all day. Didn't help that I'm not sleeping well at night. Tried hot bath/warm drink before bed. Still didn't work. I need a few decent nights before I'm woken up twice or more a night needing to pee and i'm sure that'll happen soon judging from all your posts so far! I know sleeping better at night will help (ha) but I'm not sure I can make it through many more days at work without people guessing (although they are completely unobservant so I might be lucky).

Dandilioness - I haven't been to the GP yet. Can't go till thursday, as I can't get the time off work at the mo. Still will only be 5+2 (i think) so should be OK!

SpangleMaker · 22/09/2008 18:31

Jaamy fluffer so, so sorry to hear your sad news Take things easy. Hope you'll be on another AN thread in the near future xx

Had MW appointment today - she was here for 2 hours! Unfortunately I've been (temporarily I hope) marked as high risk & therefore have to have consultant led care. I had a heart murmur detected once about 10 years ago - it's not there normally so was never investigated, but she has referred me just in case. Oh well, better to be safe etc.

On a more positive note, if I get any further spotting/bleeding she'll refer me for an early scan.

Hope everyone else is ok today x

SpangleMaker · 22/09/2008 18:38

TigerGem I was like that, with the bad sleeping at first. (and yes, am now getting up several times a night to pee!). I'm just trying to avoid long days at work as far as possible and doze on the sofa whenever I feel like it. I'm sure your body will catch up with sleep when it needs to.

pulapula · 22/09/2008 19:29

I saw my GP today (she's changed my due date to 27 May) and midwife should give me a call next week. It's all very exciting.

I too will be consultant-led as will be having elective c-section again due to complications after 1st delivery. Booked in for my dating scan on Fri 7 Nov. Think I might book a private nuchal scan too as not sure the hospital do them routinely at my age (36). I meant to ask the GP today but forgot (pregnancy brain starting early!)

Not feeling tired yet, but think i'll be telling my boss as soon as it kicks in (and any nausea) as she is very flexible and will no doubt give me the option to work from bed home.

CoteDAzur · 22/09/2008 20:56

Sorry, I'm curious - Could someone explain what "consultant-led" means?

frazzledoldbag34 · 22/09/2008 20:57

Oh Jaamy I'm so sorry.
Take care of yourself and best of luck in the future x

frazzledoldbag34 · 22/09/2008 21:00

Was thinking about the homebirth thing today actually. Don't think I'm brave enough. I could easily have had one with DD1 (v straightforward no epidural) but definitely couldn;t have had one with DD2 (long complicated labour, epidural and threatened emergency c/s). So, as a result am too scared to consider what's going to happen this time!

Am also too scared of making a mess of my lovely carpets and bed. And what on earth do you do with a curious 7 and 2 year old in the house while it's all going on? Mine would freak out. Hospital for me I think......

detsy · 22/09/2008 21:10

Hi Cote consultant led means just that really - normally your ante natal care is done solely through the mw teams with the occasional check by a dr at key times. I never saw my consultant (which is fortunate as he is app a grumpy old sod!! ) If you are considered a "high Risk" then you will be seen by the consultant at most of your ante natal appts.

Home births - no way for me. Don't think I'm a woos (unsure how you spell that) as did my last induced birth with nothing - but def not repeating that one... but I want the comfort of knowing there are drugs and drs and stuff on hand if need be. Agree about the mess as well, lol!! I def want a water birth tho or at least something active and mobile - I hated being strapped up to monitors, so claustrophobic.

pulapula · 22/09/2008 21:14

Yes frazzled, I don't think i'm a home-birth kind of gal- too messy! When I was having DD and was waiting for the labour to progress at home, I kept phoning the hospital, desperate to go in, and said at one stage I thought my waters had broken, as i felt a little trickle. The midwife said I'd know if it had happened, and sure enough, there's no missing that one!

CotedAzur - As for consultant-led, i think most hospitals have this as well as midwife-led. It just means you see a consultant or midwife at each appointment, and when it comes to delivery, again you'll have one or the other. I think the tendency is mw-led unless there are specific issues (multiples or other medical issues that make "normal" delivery more challenging). I started on mw-led last time but switched at 34 weeks. Hope that helps.

detsy · 22/09/2008 21:48

Ok personal question time...hope you lot don't mind... The big question is about good old sex - is anyone managing it?? I'm so tired, I just can't. DH reckons he has been abused for his sperm and now I'm not interested, Trouble is he is one of those blokes who "can't" once I start showing - so we only have a relative small window in the first trimester and poss a tiny bit of the second. To be honest its the last thing on my mind - the absolute last! Is anyone else in the same boat or are you still all behaving like bunnies??

frazzledoldbag34 · 22/09/2008 21:57

detsy No bunny action in this house either. Too tired and grumpy! My poor DH also thinks he's just been used and abused for sperm purposes and is genuinely quite upset that I conceived the first month! Was looking forward to a few months of intensive BD poor man.
Must try to make more of an effort I guess but it's the last thing on my mind TBH.
Don't mean to be rude and nosey but why won't your DH do it with you once you start to show?

detsy · 22/09/2008 22:10

Hi frazzled - phew glad its not just me then - we same to be in exactly the same boat!! Regards action once I have a tummy (or should I say a baby bulge, he's not so bothered about a spare tyre lol) - he's just very weird about it, concerned that he will cause some damage and generally just a bit freaked out. We discussed this last new year at the neighbours and out of 6 couples there was only one hubby who was a willing participant when partner is preggers?? Guess I'll have to get my lardy backside round there then if the mood takes me later on

divedaisy · 22/09/2008 22:32

Hi Ladies!
I had a funny episode on Sat night after posting.... I have all day nausea and nibbling helps... so I decided to have a lump of chedar cheese (Tescos cheap one)... after a few nibbles my top lip swelled up and started tingling! To cut long story short, I'm OK, the swelling didn't go anywhere else, but ended up needing to get an ambulance enroute to hospital!! Now I'm avoiding cheapo cheese... mind you cheese strings are good!

OK... Sorry to SlightlyCrumpled, Fluffer and Jammy... Not good news girls, you'll get loads of support on the MC threads. xx Take it easy.

Dandelioness - my night time bra is out of Mothercare - it looks like a shorty vest top. You can get nursing versions if you BF. I think Blooming Marvelous do them too. I have mine from last time - absolute god send! Also, I got my BFP a fortnight ago (approx 4 weeks - I don't calculate 'accurately' - don't know how!) and I saw my GP today. I kinda was hoping for a scan, but didn't get one. I have been booked into see my MW on 7 Oct who will arrange for me to have early scans - I want the nucalfold scan and the triple test so I need to be sure of dates to get those arranged.

For all those older gals - I'll be 40 when this little un arrives, all being well.

Momino and agooboo - My PND lasted 2-3 years and I was on antidepresants and eventually got psychiatric councelling of some sort (CBT I think). Took DH years to agree to try for #2 as he went through such a bad time with me. Dr thought mine started antinatally - so I'll be telling everyone about my last experiences... We'll be together on this journey xx

Wobblypig (great name!!) I too feel MS and dizzy too - not a great combo! Mind you my MS is ADS (All Day Sickness).

Frazzeled - I've had accupuncture for pain b4 and yes it can be uncomfortable but very effective... I might just try it for nausea if the bracelet thing (which also works on pressure points) doesn't work.

Finally... welcome 33K and all those new mums-to-be! COngratulations!!

I'm off to bed now. POst is long enough - too long maybe - appologies!

Nitey nite xx

divedaisy · 22/09/2008 22:43

Detsy - my DH doesn't like it either when there's a bump showing - in fact as soon as I say I'm preg he doesn't come near me. He does expect other stuff if you catch my drift.... I can't be bothered... too tired.
Last time we did try various positions in 3rd trimester, but it was just too uncomfortable and tiring and not enjoyable at all.

Dandelioness · 22/09/2008 22:48

Thanks about bra info, divedaisy.
I do have vests with a built-in support 'shelf' from M&S which I wear in the evening - they're great, no underwiring but just enough support as long as I don't bounce.

Don't wear one while sleeping, although that might change.

bluebell82 · 23/09/2008 08:01

hi ladies...

Detsy- no sex please is my motto, with dd1 we only did it once when we were on holiday in Venic, for it resulted in bleeding and a water ambulance! Not to put anyone off, I was being a bit over the top as it was only brown blood but freaked me out anyway, we also did it two days before dd was born and I have to say he was honest and said as much as he loves me it was like shagging the beast of bodmin as I was massive and hadn't been able to groom my lady garden for about 4 months!

Dandili- marks and sparks do great mat bras and they fit them for you, mine were £15 and have two they saw me through and I actually haven/;t stopped wearing them!

I have a scan today I'm 6 wks can't help worrying that they won't find anything, I don't have any massive symptoms so worrying.. I have to stop myself from weeing on an old pg test just to check.

My dd (8 months today!) is refusing her milk at the moment which is driving me insane, she is so strong willed! I have so pics on my profile of her xx

Wish me luck xx

CoteDAzur · 23/09/2008 08:08

I am a bit that most women are only foollowed by midwives in the UK. Down here in France/MC, all appointments are with your own gynecologist. You don't see a midwife until birth.

swottybetty · 23/09/2008 08:32

jaamy sorry to hear about your news. will look forward to seeing you pop up on another antenatal thread soon.

detsy - know what you mean re the claustraphobia of being strapped to stuff. i was induced at 42wks with dd and all i remember is the drips, and the trace, and the cathetar etc etc... i felt like something out of a scifi movie.

yep, tiredness has started here. lots of early nights for me (hurrah!!).

bluebell - i cant see your pics of dd

i havent taken a bra off for over a year now. might try the night vest thingas a more comfortable option at night. a couple of weeks before finding out i was preg, i thought maybe my bra size had finally stabalised (have spent a year doing the whole preg boobs, milky boobs, small post milky boobs) and bought myself two posh new bras. will have to rummage thru back of wardrobe for the millions i have in dif preg sizes.

Imnotok · 23/09/2008 09:27

Hi I got a bfp on Saturday ,bit of a shock but have sort of got used to it now .
Thought I would join this thread have worked out I am due 27th May [eeeekkkk]
