Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
llareggub · 20/09/2008 19:30

loulabella to an extent it doesn't help that much to know when ovulation occurred, as the egg sometimes takes up to 5 days to get fertilized, which is why dates can sometimes be out.

carol7 · 20/09/2008 20:11

Hi Detsy and Claudia I will be just 43 when baby is born nice to hear im not the only oldy around Best wishes to everyone. Tip for anyone feeling sick i bought some gaviscon today seemed to help with nausea and safe to take.

detsy · 20/09/2008 20:13

Hallo agaian gals! Quick chat before tea time which DH has made, big

Loula pls try not to worry (i know easier said than done!) its really important to be positive and stress free for your LO as I am so convinced that stressed out mums have stressed out babes. I think pragmatism is a great approach - nature is doing its amazing stuff and we've done the bit to help that, its so hard not to think whats going wrong next but positiv mental attitude is really important for your own sake as well as DH and LO!!

Spangle i went to ultrasound now in stockport - £85 and really nice informative sonographer. Will be going back here for NT scan - was very impressed with her.

Febes my 10 month old is doing exactly the same as yours - must be a developmental thing. Have you researched this at all, I haven't got round to it but the broken nights sleep are knackering!! I concentrate on really trying to fill her up all day - she has a 7oz bottle at bed time and another one before I go to bed but she'sstill waking at anytime between 3 and 5 demanding a bottle - nothing else will work and if she doesn't get a bottle she has a complete hissy fit (no idea where she gets her temper from...

detsy · 20/09/2008 20:23

carol so I'm not the eldest - woo hoo Obv joking hun, glad there are few of us on here who have left the baby thing till later! My mum had my little sister when she was 44 so must run in my family!! Haven't looked at your profile - will this be your first baby?

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 20/09/2008 21:17

Hi, just thought I'd post an update on the wierd legs feeling. I took a multi-vit plus minerals and feeling a bit better now. Could have been low magnesium or something making the aching feeling? DS gone to bed so things looking up all round.

carol7 · 20/09/2008 21:58

HalfMumHalfBiscuit no not my first i have two DS 16 and DD 12 new partner much younger hes 24 has no children so we having one together

Momino · 20/09/2008 23:46

Oldies, i'm one of you too - will be two months shy of 40 when little one is born. i've always prided myself on not looking/feeling my age but maybe it's children (the two of them) or maybe my age is catching up, but I am really feeling near-40!
divedaisy, i am terrified of PND and am seeing doc regularly through this pregnancy to try to manage it. it makes me feel so incompetent, though. I wish I could cope like most mums.

otherwise, still nauseous and can't shake it. i do manage to keep eating though thinking that it will solve the problem. it doesn't. peppermint tea does soothe a bit though.

speaking of nausea, someone pages ago asked me about the wrist bands: I have seen them at boots, they're in the area where the meds are kept for seasickness/travel sickness. they do help some people.

good night all. have a good weekend. xx

Momino · 20/09/2008 23:50

on the age thing again - not only am i feeling my age but have def caught up in the looks - grey hair coming through, want to start dyeing it, vericose veins with the last pregnancy, and i'm afraid to change my facial expression so the wrinkles don't overcome. sigh. guess i gotta give in,eh? or hope that the children will make me feel younger....

Dandelioness · 21/09/2008 00:28

Divdaisy, I'm with you on hating to take my bra off. What is a nighttime bra, and does it come in freakishly large sizes?

I feel at the moment that I am crap at being a pregnant lady. This is my second pregnancy, my first on was in 2004 (DD born Feb 2005), and I can't remember anything and feel rather relaxed about the whole thing. After finding out via a pregnancy test last Thursday, I ate some Brie (BAD pregnant person). I was planning on calling the Doctor on Friday to make an appointment, but I forgot to.

And now reading all your posts I'm getting freaked out. How come everyone is having scans so early? Doesn't the first one happen at 12 weeks - has this changed? Are those of you getting ones at 6/7wks all going private or is it also because you're at higher risk because of previous miscarriages? And what's this about choice of hospital? I want to go to my last hospital again - I will be able to, won't I? Am all in a flap now, feel I know NOTHING.

CoteDAzur · 21/09/2008 07:06

Am I the only one here with no symptoms?

Except (+) test and no AF, that is.

Loulabella · 21/09/2008 08:35

Thank you Slippers, llareggub and detsy. I'm going to try very hard to take your advice and stop worrying. I'll spend today doing nice, relaxing things with DH (might make a cury, I'm usually not a fan but the last few weeks I've been getting curry cravings).

Dandelioness, I can't speak for everyone but I know several ladies have had early scans because of previous miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies. Twelve weeks is the norm. As for hospital choice, I don't know. I told my GP where I wanted to go and he referred me there with no further discussion. I'm sure you'll be able to return to your previous hospital (unless you've moved miles away in the meantime).

Cote, it's great to be symptom-free. Enjoy it. Hopefully that will continue for you and don't forget - a lot of the ladies on here have a few weeks headstart on you, so you've plenty of time to start feeling rotten. I hope you're one of the lucky ones, though and avoid it altogether.

Jools1 · 21/09/2008 08:58

Cote - at 4+2, I have fewer symptoms now than a week ago - I guess what I was noticing then was implantation.

My boobs start off the day not too huge but get progressively bigger and more tender as the day goes on. I've had the odd wave of nausea mid evening and been falling asleep on the sofa by 9.30, but nothing much that is really noticeable. If I am at home, I seem OK but commuting to work in London makes me a lot more tired.

My boobs started REALLY aching yesterday after I'd been cuddling an 8 week old baby for a while

SpangleMaker · 21/09/2008 09:33

Dandelioness as loulabella says those of us who've been/going/considering early scans have been doing so because of worry over ectopic pregnancy, previous miscarriages, bleeding/cramping or simply for reassurance. AFAIK it's still policy to just go at 12 weeks, everything else being well. I don't think you'll have a problem with your choice of hospital. For me I have 2 an equal distance & so am trying to find out which one would be best for me. I was quite to be asked for my choice at my first GP visit - blimey, I'd hardly got my head around being pregnant in the first place, let alone got around to thinking about the birth!

Cote you have plenty of time for symptoms to appear but if you're lucky you may hardly get any at all. I'm finding they seem to come and go. Some days I feel pg other days totally normal.

agooboo · 21/09/2008 10:14

Morning All,
well its a lovely day here again - going to get my washing on the line whilst I can!

Momino and Divedaisy - I too had PND with my 2nd DS. It lasted over a year and I have only just started to feel 'normal' again. I developed PNOCD so had CBT which was great and has really helped me. It is worrying to think it may come back.

As for symptoms - I'm feeling like you Jools1 - sore boobs and waves of nausea early evening. I'm just appreciating not feeling sick in the mornings yet as I know there is lots of time for that to come!

It's DS2 2nd birthday on Thursday so I'm going to spend the day preparing his cake. I am making Thomas the Tank cake - have made his face already so need to make the cake and freeze it today so I can decorate on Wednesday.
How is everyone else spending their days?

x

mags98 · 21/09/2008 10:49

I'm having very few symptoms too, just mild aching of my boobs and occasional minor nausea but very little.

Now of course I'm worrying that means something is going wrong! But hoping it just means I am lucky - so far... at only 5 1/2 weeks there is plenty of time for all that to kick in!

CoteDAzur · 21/09/2008 10:53

My only symptom is that I am having trouble keeping my eyes open!

Just like last time, then. No nausea, just lots of snoozing in first trimester.

SesHasapinkline · 21/09/2008 11:22

Well I'kk be spending my day packing for our house move which is hopefully Friday. DH has gone off to Ireland for the day for the Gaelinc football Al Ireland final so my DM's coming over to help this afternoon.
I hadn't told her our news as didn't want her to worry after my mc problems but I've been feeling v tired, quite nauseous and v sore boobs and thought she might notice so I told her last night. She laughed and asked why we couldn't have waited until after the house move!!

Hope everyone's enjoying the sun

pulapula · 21/09/2008 13:05

After telling someone on here earlier to not worry about lack of symptoms, I started to worry myself as mine seemed to be going. I am now 5 weeks, and have had a mc at this stage before.

So I tried a pg test and the line showed up as the dye moved up the test towards the control line, which put my mind at ease as there is obviously still lots of preg hormone in me.

I seem to have not been hit by the overwhelming tiredness yet, and in fact have the opposite problem, not going to sleep til 12.40 the last 2 nights. Think i'm worried about pg and job interview on Tuesday!

As for managing nausea, I find the wrist bands, peppermint tea and ginger biscuits all help (I used to take ginger capsules last pg too). I have been really lucky to have never been sick in previous pregnancies so hoping I will escape this again.

PS Has anyone else had a c-section before and worrying about their scar during the pregnancy. My scar is 15 months old now, and only recently has the sensitive sensation disappeared (it has also almost faded completely so seems a shame to open it up again!). Guess the midwife will keep an eye on it when my belly grows big.

slightlycrumpled · 21/09/2008 13:27

Hi just a quick post from me. Would someone be able to remove me from the list please.

I have spent the last two days at the hospital and have had a miscarriage.

I'm actually quite okay and taking comfort in my two lovely boys and equally lovely DH, still very sad though.

Good luck to you all with your pregnancies and I look forward to reading your birth stories in May!

Dandelioness · 21/09/2008 16:15

slighltcrumpled - so sorry to hear that, but glad that you're OK and getting support.

Loulebella and Spangle: Thanks for answering my question. I am going to call my GP first thing tomorrow to make an appt so I can get into the system. Am still feeling guilty that I forgot to do this on Friday, but I am only just under 5 wks pregnant and only found out on Thursday, so I guess I haven't been too remiss

My only main symptom so far is very sore boobs and also finding it tough to go to bed. After 11pm, my energy levels sore. At this stage last time I was really tired, but that doesn't seem the case this time, which is good. I also had terrible nausea last time which lasted until I was 16 weeks pregnant - I remember it really kicking it around week 7. Mind you, I did go to Glastonbury then and was so knackered when I came back, I slept for over 14 hours straight. Hopefully this time round I can escape the nausea, guess I'll be finding out in the next week or two ...

Jools1 · 21/09/2008 16:36

Bleurghh - got a nasty head cold that seems to have come on in the last 24 hours. It is doubling my tiredness I think - just hit Morrisons and thought I was going to throw up round the wet fish counter and was using the trolley to hold myself up !

Sulking cos I can't have a Lemsip - any good cold remedies allowed in pregnancy ?

WobblyPig · 21/09/2008 16:37

Help, slowly dying of 'morning sickness'. Seems a lot worse and earlier than last time.
Trying to pysche myself up for acupuncture which worked last time but really hurt.

Have sent DS and DH out for the day. I bein completely pathetic I know but can hardly get up the stairs today and feel really dizzy whenever I stand up.

I forgot about this - do not know how.

Jools1 · 21/09/2008 17:07

Dandelioness - I also only confirmed on Thurs that I was PG, and needed the weekend to let it sink in So, I haven't phoned my surgery yet and may not even do so tomorrow - I'll only be 4+3 and it feels a little early, almost like I'm tempting fate.
