Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

Sorry to hear some of you are having horrible bleeding and worries - fingers crossed for you all. Don't give up hope, bleeding doesn't always mean disaster - as I found out in my last pg.
Had a dating scan yesterday as have requested CVS this time. So they need to know exact dates. As I suspected I'm not 8.5 wks like my GP insisted but about 5.5 - 6 wks. They did an abdominal scan but because my uterus is retroverted they could only just see a sac measuring 5.5 wks and she couldn't see a heart beat. Think she said there was a fetal pole but to be honestt she was struggling to see properly cos of my uterus being at a funny angle. She said that was expected at this gestation and not to worry - if she had done a vaginal scan she said she might have seen it but she couldn't do one yesterday. Anyway she reassured me it all looked fine, but 'very early' and I go back on 9th Oct for another scan where she'll date it properly and give me a due date more accurately - so I still don't have a proper one! Middle of May I think. Anyway I came out feeling fine, but now I'm worried cos I didn't see a heart beat. I know it's sometimes 6.5 wks before you see this but I'd have felt happier if it had been there. Boo.
Anyway that's the problem I guess with too early a scan. It gives you more worries than reassurance.
Plus I'm not feeling ill yet either and usually I feel rubbish by now. Nothing to do but wait.

And also just re-read the above and I sound like such a moaner. You'd think by the third baby I'd be a bit more laid back about this preg lark wouldn't you? Have just been cuddling my 2 month old neice and am now super-broody - little babies smell so nice!

Jaamy stay strong until Sunday, and try to distract yourself until then - time for crap tv and comfort food x

frazzled I don't think it's surprising they couldn't see anything so early on an abdominal scan, particularly if you have a retroverted uterus. It sounds like everything is fine, but it is such an anxious time - we all empathise with you over that!

Thanks to everyone who offered reassurance over my spotting, it's really good to be able to come and talk about it here with people who understand. Poor DH wants to be sympathetic and supportive but he doesn't really know what to say!

Hi Dandedlioness Ive been struggling to sleep for last 3 weeks,just dont sem tired, gone 1 by time get off and up again for 6. Is it insomnia? I never had this last time.

Yes, that's it completely, I just don't feel tired. During the night ... I've been going to sleep around 2:30am, waking up at least once every night to go to the toilet, waking up at 6am when DH gets up then going back to sleep before waking up properly at 7:30am. I don't remember it being like this last time, but that is rather a while ago now and I have an inkling it might have been. My sleep pattern has been like this for a while now.

Was knackered today at 5pm. Managed to convince DD to get into bed with me for a cuddle and a story so I could have a lie down. After the story I nodded straight off. DD kindly woke me upagain

Is anyone else feeling really narky?
My DH is really annoying me. He's now watching tv in another room as I've just snapped at him (again). That bloody never-ending golf is driving me nuts. Gaaaahhhhhhh

Taken me ages to catch up with 5 pages of chat - big welcomes to all the newbies as well. No chance of me rememberiing all the names, can only just about manage mine So glad its Friday, missed my DD like crazy and was only away from home for a couple of nights - was v naughty and kept her at home with me on Thursday when I was "working from home" ie lying on the floor all day, playing, lol.

spangle - we're very close then - I'm in Arclid - we go to Rhythm time in Mossley on Mondays. I'm at Leighton hosp which is where I had DD - asked DP yesterday about the Portland and he just snorted, lol. Macc has very good reports - its on my choices as well and they are very into natural birth. I choose Crewe because its nearer - thats all.

So, tomo I have my early scan 7+2 so will hopefully have good news but am very anxious. I'll post my results as soon as we get home - just told DP that I want him to hold my hand (as well as controlling DD)

Off for more diet coke now - raging thirst has not abated, still crampy tummy and boobs are v v sore esp when DD elbows into me - she currently thinks I'm some sort of mobile obstacle course

And one more whinge - golf is still on but DP is snoring on sofa - he wakes up the minute I reach for the remote.....

Also feeling v fat and frumpy - just got back to ppg weight and now can't fasten trousers - don't understand do tummy muscles just pack in second time around??

dunno detsy but I haven't actually put any weight on yet but my stomach is huge (third time for me). My friend today said 'you haven't got a baby in there have you?' and am only 5.5 wks. Have just lost 3.5 stone since january and am back to 9 .5 stone for the first time in years! And also now feeling fat and blobby.
You have my sympathies with the golf - so dull , we even had to watch the opening ceremony yesterday and speeches
then he says 'well, you're on mumsnet so I don't know why you're bothered'

hi haven't been on in awhile as computer had a virus so all hard drive wiped out! thank god I'd backed up all the children's photos as those were the most important.

frazzle i'm the same with my tummy: third pregnancy and I can't button my trousers already! i'm not a big person either so it's very noticeable. i've got in law wedding next week and am trying to find the baggiest clothes to disguise.

Hello ladies. Mind if I join?

I'm about 5.5 weeks now. I have calculated due about 21 May.

This is my third pregnancy, I had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks last August and another early miscarriage at 5 weeks or so in May (but that was never right from he beginning). Had a bit of an 'interesting' time as i wasn't having proper periods and was eventually diagnosed with Ashermans syndrome in July. It was treated and then I was on loads of hormones, they told me that it should be OK and then almost immesiately found out I was pregnant again.

So am a bit nervous about all this - something is bound to go wrong!

Try not to worry everyone. If not for the obvious reason (more stress can lead to pregnancy problems in itself), for its effect on your baby - I was a constant worrier during 1st pregnancy and am convinced that is why DD (3) is a stressed out little person full of anxiety, and has been since birth

Hello ladies, mind if I join in. I am due on the 11th May so 6ish weeks pregnant. I already have dd1 aged 3 and dd2 aged 1. This pregnancy is rather a suprise and it's taking a while to get my head around it. My body however has taken it all on board and am now feeling vile and having to eat non-stop in order to curb the vomity feelings - hence a now rapidly increasing waistline .

Also feel like the oldest person alive to have a baby (am 40) - Detsy are you too, ahem, rather older than average?

Woke up in the middle of the night feeling a bit ropey and then again this morning. Currently sipping ginger tea. Oh good, looks like the morning (all day and all night) sickness is kicking in. Fabulous
Have a cupboard full of Vit B6 and ginger capsules. Must double check dosages and get taking them - like everyone I guess I have far too much going on to be laid low and unable to function.
Have a lovely weekend all. I've got a houseful this evening coming to watch the golf. Yawn.

Hi Claudia - Congratulations on your pregnancy You might be oldest on this thread, but jools and I are not far behind you - she is 38 and I am 37.

No morning sickness, no sore breasts, no symptom whatsoever. I just had the shortest ever Wii Fit time ever, though, with only a bit of yoga, some balance exercises and some light boxing (only arms work out) as I was feeling tired only only after a couple of minutes.

Welcome to ClaudiaSchiffer - yes, I shall be 6 months from 40 all being well when this bean arrives And it is my first !!

BFP still sinking in over here. 4wks, 1day - sore boobs, odd mild cramps, bloated tum and just low-level nausea / dizziness if I don't eat every couple of hours ! The tiredness hasn't really kicked in yet either but I do get very sleepy by mid evening. I was actually contemplating the gym this morning but thought better of it, as I am going to a wedding this afternoon and don't want to fall asleep at the reception (fell asleep on the sofa last night whilst we had friends round )

Think I will wait till the middle of next week before making this official and calling the GP - kinda don't want to jinx anything.

Want to join (tentatively - got a faint positive after I dribbled wee on the stick rather than waiting until I actually had to go properly - still, even faint lines suggest I am)

(Probably) due May 31, dc #2. Ds is 3.5. Been ttc for over 18 mths and I am trying really hard not to get prematurely excited! I am waiting to do second test to confirm result...

detsy thanks for the view on Macc hospital, v useful as I'll have to give the midwife an initial choice on Monday. My GP said he'd heard good reports about the care at Macc too. It seems so early to be thinking about birth options but am thinking I would like to have an active labour. Don't want to be forced on to my back with legs hiked in the air just to make the HCPs jobs easier!

Hello to the new ladies too!

I had an odd thing happen in the last week - on Monday night I received a text from the hospital, reminding me of my appointment next week. "eh?!" I'm thinking (as I hadn't received a letter), so called them as soon as I could, to find out I'd been booked in for a nuchal scan - at 8 weeks! So I rearranged it all, I get to see my midwife on the Friday, and my scan on the Monday, and luckily there were appointments available just before we head to Australia to see the in-laws (and coincidentally, we're taking my mum - she'll be staying with family out there).

I'm currently hatching up an elaborate story to tell my mum, how we'll be joined by someone else, a small child. He/she is travelling for free, but will be with us, and will she mind? I think she'll wonder what on earth we're getting involved in until the penny drops!

I'm fed up of not having a proper due date so I've worked one out myself (doctor said 27 April but according to scan she was miles out). But they didn't tell me a revised date and my LMP is apparently irrelevant because of having coil taken out so I have decided it will be 15/5/09. (Have based it on likely conception dates so will see if it turns out to be accurate!)

Well, after a few days of being uncomfortable and sitting with my top button undone I've dug out my old maternity jeans. Not only can I breathe again, I don't feel so fat!
