Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

I've hardly told anyone either, in fact (apart from DH) I've only told a friend at work as she knew we were trying, and told me early on when she got pg this time. It's quite fun exchanging conspiritorial looks and having sneaky conversations about symptoms!

I won't tell anyone else until 12 weeks as I don't want to have to go round telling loads of people if I have a mc. Decided not to tell parents yet because they will be sooo excited and don't feel I can share in that until I'm more confident. Don't want to think of them being sad if I have a mc either.

mummyhill · 18/09/2008 20:16

Fingers crossed for you Jaamy, try and take things easy for a bit. Hormone headaches are the pits, I have had them in each of my pregnancies so far.

Jools1 · 18/09/2008 20:17

Hi everyone - mind if I join in

Just found out I'm 4 wks pg (tomorrow)! Love that free trial ClearBlue Digi - it is obviously lucky

EDD May 29th if all goes well. I will be 39 by then and this will be my first - scary !

Just told DP and he is looking happy but shell-shocked.

mummyhill · 18/09/2008 20:21

slightlycrumpled you are supposed to avoid home made mayo, pate, blue veined or soft cheese, liver, runny eggs, under cooked meat, pre washed salad and more than a small tin of tuna a week is not recommended. Ohh as well as the usual advice about fags, drink and drugs! Think I remembered it all from just before my m/c in april.

llareggub · 18/09/2008 20:32

I forgot about the runny egg thing! I baked cakes with DS today and we licked the bowl together....oops!

TigerGem · 18/09/2008 21:19

Hi ladies - can I join please? I got my BFP at the weekend (really excited and letting it sink in). DD is 18 months and looks like this one will be due May 19th.

At the moment I seem to be getting off quite lightly with symptoms. No actual ms but feeling a bit off colour first thing in the morning plus sore boobs and really tired. Just not looking forward to the heartburn I had with DD.

We're keeping it to ourselves for now but its really nice to be able to share it with other people - good luck to all of you!

I told quite a few people cause I'm crap at keeping secrets. The in laws and my parents, BF and close friends at work. I guess I will regret it if I MC but will want support from friends if that happens.

chubbymummy · 18/09/2008 22:01

Congratulations and Welcome to all the new ladies, this thread is really growing now.

My clothes are getting ridiculously tight for such an early stage of pregnancy and I'm now back in my pre-weightwatchers close from a year ago. A year of not eating all my favourite things and in just 6 short weeks I'm back to square one! I dread to think what I'll look like at the end of the 9 months if I look like this already. I put on over 4 stone with ds and I've still not lost most of that. Jesus I'll look like an Umperlumper (however you spell it).

nauseous · 18/09/2008 22:06

Congrats Jools1!

I'm never sure about prawns. The NHS site doesn't tell you not to eat them - or any other shellfish. Did I get that wrong?

Told one of BFs yesterday, but managed not to tell anyone else yet. Also crap at keeping secrets but did just manage to fib to a friend... Virtually all my friends know about the MC, but needed to share at the time...

Feeling permanently slightly tired and cold, and boobs are blemmin aching. No sickness yet, woohoo, but I'm prepared should it start with my nausea bands & dry biscuits etc etc.

Night all.

silentlywondering · 18/09/2008 22:08

SpangleMaker · 18/09/2008 22:24

MissE I'm so sorry to hear your news. Don't give up hope yet, I had a bleed with DS1 at 7 weeks and all was well. No reason was ever found. Hoping all okay for you.

mummyhill Thanks for the info, had forgotten about quite alot of that list!

CoteDAzur · 19/09/2008 08:38

Hi ladies. May I join you? BFP this morning and it seems I am due on 28 May.

SpangleMaker · 19/09/2008 08:55

MissEdith so sorry to hear about your bleeding. I do hope your suspicions are wrong. Take care & hope to see you back here x

CoteDAzur congratulations I was wondering a while ago what had happened to you.

More spotting for me last night. It's so worrying. I've an appointment with the midwife on Monday, so I will hang on until then and see what she says. TBH if she doesn't refer me for a scan I think I'll book a private one as the stress is doing no-one any good! Of course, it could be nothing but it's very easy to think the worst.

inni · 19/09/2008 10:00

Hello everyone and congrats to the last adds to this thread.
I've been spotting for three weeks now. On and off but mostly on, and having even bled sometimes for a while. Done three scans already and everything is fine and baby is growing at the normal rate. Dr. said it looks pretty good. You could have a minor infection, an hematoma or just the CM that bleeds sometimes cos has many vessels.
I just want to say to all of you who are spotting than can be anything and doesn't have to be M/C necessarily. So take this thought off your heads and wait until you can check your babies. Good luck and finger crossed to all of you who are spotting and will get a scan soon.

mootie · 19/09/2008 10:02

Hi, May I join? Due 11 May, have dd aged 2.4. Am I the only one battling almost constant nausea?

SesHasapinkline · 19/09/2008 10:04

Hi mootie! You're not alone! I survived yesterday on a handful of rich tea biscuits and had to turn back from going into work. Am going to try again though and about to drive in.
MissEdith - sorry to hear your worrying news but I really hope it's not bad news.
Take care everyone and catch you later!

aquababe · 19/09/2008 10:18

missedith I too hope your suspicions are wrong, but understand how you feel. hope you get answers soon

spanglemaker hope you can stay positive over the weekend. It's such a stressful time when you start bleeding.

justgotbfp thats great news about your lo 8 weeks and good to hear that your feeling better too.

Whilst i was reading all that stuff about being cold I was like ahhhhh(Penny dropping). I've been freezing and had big winter socks on during the day and at night when I've woken couldn't get over how cold my feet were.

congrats and welcome Agooboo, Moonlit, Slightlycrumpled, jools1, tigergem, cotedazur and mootie

Wow! There been quite a few newbies

Still no news on my flaming scan. doc said they'd phone mon/tue. I phoned on wed but had to leave a message with someone who promised to get back to me same day. still no news I'm going mad. phoned someone today and managed to at least get the right phone number but noone answers it .grrr. Thinking of booking a private scan if this goes on much longer. after 2 mcs this kind of stress can't be good for mine or baby's health

CoteDAzur · 19/09/2008 11:22

spangle - Try not to worry, as spotting can mean any number of things. Stay positive. Fingers crossed for you.

You are right, I kind of flounced off the Conception board about two months ago, when I was very much disappointed after just one cycle of TTC (I know, I know) and only recently found the courage to come back.

Febes · 19/09/2008 11:47

Am I going mad or have that pelvic discomfort thingy. I can't remember whats its called but I got it in my last pregnancy and this morning I have pain low in my fanjo just like last time but it didn't start until 30 weeks or so last time surely 7 weeks is too early has anyone heard of this????

Jaamy · 19/09/2008 12:47

Miss Edith - I really hope to see you back here soon. Take things easy until you know for sure.
Spangle - Again, take it really easy over the weekend. HOpe you have some good news on Monday.

Still having cramps and spotting has increased a bit . Took myself to Liverpool Womens Hospital last night after a telecon with one of the midwife's there. The lovely ladies there were everso apologetic that they couldn't get me a scan until Sunday (afer debating whether to just book me in for a scan today and bear the wrath of the sonographer!). The doctor examined me and said that my womb was closed and no sign of ectopic. Don't hold up much hope as bleeding has increased and I have cramps and back ache. So I have to wait until Sunday now. Will report back when I have somenews.

In the meantime, I hope everyone else is doing ok.

Welcome to the newbies and Congratulations.

mummyhill · 19/09/2008 13:00

Jaamy you know where I am if you want to talk just pick up the phone hunni, if I'm not there just leave your name and I will call you back asap.

Jaamy · 19/09/2008 15:59

Thanks mummyhill. Just a waiting game now. Hope to get some nice news from you soon.

Dandelioness · 19/09/2008 16:39

Hi, Can I join too?

I'm due on 25th May 2009. This will be my second child, I have a daughter who's three-and-a-half.

I only found out yesterday through a home pregnancy test. My breasts are very sore and I'm having trouble sleeping, already. Anyone else having that problem? (the sleep, not the boobs)
