Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

My thoughts are with those who have experienced the sadness and pain of loosing something that in such a short time has become very special.

I had an early m/c a couple of years ago and it was a really sad time for me and my DH.

My way of coping was to go back to work quite soon (after the bleeding had stopped) and start trying for a baby the following month, but everyone copes differently so you should do whatever feels right for you. I was lucky to conceive quickly (fertility is very high in the following months) - I can't imagine life without my DS.

PS I think I'm already eating for 2 - there's a lot of food I can't stomach at the moment (gone off caffeine too) so when I find something I fancy I have a lot of it (sweet & sour chicken tonight)!

Hey there
It's so hard to keep up with the thread lately. Sorry to hear from Sarah76 Peacelily and Gordon. I hope that life brings you real soon lots of joy and happiness.
Welcome to the new mums.
I have had a really bad weekend with some kind of virus that made me throw up and go to the loo. Feeling really sick for two days. Now everything is gone. Not spotting for a few days just very light and lots of CM (sorry tmi). Went to Gyn today and baby is perfect, heartbeat and measurement ok and no a sight of the hematoma so I guess the spotting will be too gone. Feeling ok tho not sore bbs at all. It's this normal? I think cos is my third pg maybe my bbs will start growing later on, or I don't know, but so far nothing. Belly still bloated but a lot more at night. I dont remember who said about eating egg in all the different ways and all the time. It happens to me on my 2nd, I was crazy about eggs. This time no bad cravings yet and eating as when not pg, not worrying on having put weight on. Hope everyone is feeling ok today

Jaamy · 17/09/2008 10:09

I woke up this morning feeling sick! Have a terrible headache too. Could be MS, could be a migraine from all the chocolate I ate yesterday.

Though, having read inni's post it may just be a bug . Glad to hear all is well with bean, inni and that bleeding has stopped.

frazzledoldbag34 · 17/09/2008 10:43

oh chubbymummy, she sounds like an absolute horror. Poor you.

Jaamy - I'm with you on the 'things moving' feeling - I keep thinking I feel a little something now and again. Have atrocious wind at the minute though so that must be it! Gross. Looking forward to when it is actually a LO though - it's so lovely to feel them kicking (well, until they get big and strong and then it just makes you go 'ouch!')

frazzledoldbag34 · 17/09/2008 10:46

Is it bad to have become addicted to Pot Noodle?
I've barely had one before in my life, and have already had about 4 this week......currently stirring a Chinese Chow Mein one. And it's not even elevenses time yet.
I really must develop some healthier cravings.

frazzledoldbag34 · 17/09/2008 10:49

inni - just read your post. Sorry to hear you've been ill - that's a nightmare.
I too craved eggs with my 2nd preg - my DH had to make me a boiled egg and soldiers every morning (sometimes 2 eggs!) before work or I'd feel hellish all day.
So weird and I honestly don't think I've eaten a boiled egg since.

aquababe · 17/09/2008 12:39

Arrrgh stupid mw will only see me for my first appointment on a thursday morning, which is the only day I work and am only just starting. not only that but my 8 week check in is due to be at 10 weeks so my 12 week scan is more looking like 14/15weeks

I can't wait that long I'm going implode. Not only that, but I'm not overly fond of her as a mw anyway. In the whole nine months she couldn't get my name right once.
and has messed up on some of my friends cases.

Anyone know if you can change midwives she seems to be the only one at my practise.

Also miffed as epu hasn't rung which means they might have decided not to give me a scan even though my doc referred me.

welcome to Frogthistle and Miss blythe!

millionsaway · 17/09/2008 13:01

Hello everyone!

How are you all feeling?

I have felt really sick for the last two days - ALL day! Any food smell makes me gag, it's horrible but I'm taking it as a good sign. I have been a bit worried because my boobs have gone from hurting loads to not hurting at all for a few days, but now just my nipples are very slightly sore (sorry if tmi!) not as much as a few weeks ago though. I'm guessing it's normal? Has anyone had the same?

I am so sorry to hear that we have lost a few members of this thread, my thoughts are with you. Take care of yourselves.

millionsaway · 17/09/2008 13:04

Oooops sorry forgot to say hello to the new mums! Welcome

agooboo · 17/09/2008 15:44

Hey!
Can i join you all?! Just found out today I am due May 24th.
went this morning for an ultrasound as I have a lump in my breast - it turned out to be nothing more than fatty tissue. But something was niggling in my head and I am 4 days late so we did a test and it was positive! Big shock! I suppose it explains my lumpy boob!
I have two DS - 6yrs and 2 yrs.
Looking forward to sharing our pregnancies together.

llareggub · 17/09/2008 16:57

swottybetty I think those digital tests are magic! I had a free mumsnet one. When it arrived it struck me that I hadn't had a period for ages and bingo! I was 1-2 weeks pregnant.

aquababe yes, it is possible to change your midwife. I think you just need to ring and speak the the Midwifery Manager.

pulapula · 17/09/2008 18:31

Wow Swottybetty, you have a DD aged 6m! I don't think I had the energy or the inclination to contemplate any bedroom antics at that stage. Good on you!

Still not quite as close a gap as a friend of mine- 11 months between her DS (15 mo) and DD (4 mo)!

chubbymummy · 17/09/2008 18:55

Is it wierd to be craving jacket spuds? I've been thinking about them all day. I could hardly wait for one to cook by the time I got home from work, I really felt like I would've died if I'd waited any longer.
DH has just cooked the most revolting smelling mince thing and my stomach is churning, bleugh!!!!!!

SpangleMaker · 17/09/2008 19:20

Evening everyone!

Welcome swottybetty and agooboo to this busy thread!

inni I hope you're feeling recovered now. It's good news that the bleeding is clearing up. I have certainly had much less this week than the week before. I'm really, really hoping it's going to stop as it's just too stressful!

frazzled I fancied a pot noodle the other day too! Don't think I've had one since my student days. The chow mein one was my favourite IIRC. Now you've mentioned them I may just have to purchase one tomorrow!

Right, this may sound a little weird, but has anyone else been freezing cold? I thought one was supposed to get all hot in pregnancy due to all that extra blood going round but almost from the start I've been incredibly cold. I've been putting DH's big fleece on in the evenings, just to add to the glamorous look!

llareggub · 17/09/2008 19:25

spanglemaker, you know what, I've been cold as well! I definitely haven't had that warm feeling that i had when I was pregnant with DS. I hardly wore a coat that winter!

Febes · 17/09/2008 20:03

I've been cold too!!! My nipples go rock hard. I think its all the sensitivity. I'm still feeling really well and no reall morning sickness- although I had a hairy moment on the well to work when I thought I was going to hurl but it passed in seconds. I think I might buy another pregnancy test on the weekend just to make sure I wasn't imagining things. I have got sore boobs and a bit more tired than normal so I guess everything is fine.

SpangleMaker · 17/09/2008 20:03

Phew, glad it's not just me! I guess it'll go when I get bigger (gawd, still feel like typing 'if', but I WILL be positive, I WILL!) and I'm hulking all that extra weight around.

In fact today I popped out and bought a cheap cardi to keep in the office and a couple of people asked if I was coming down with something...

pulapula · 17/09/2008 21:13

Yes, I'm feeling really cold too, but then our house is really drafty!

I also have a bad cough and am fed up as suddenly I can't have anything stronger than the odd locket, so its not shifting.

I have a job interview (promotion) next Tuesday so am stressed about that too. If I don't get it, then I think I'll just stay where I am til I go on maternity leave.

Jaamy · 17/09/2008 21:13

I've been shivery all week. Strange as I usually have cold hands and feet but they disappeared during my last 2 pgs. Think sickness I've been experiencing today is due to a migraine coming on, not MS,

I AM PG, I AM PG, I AM, I AM, I AM.

Bleurgh to pot noodles. Not my cup of tea but DH loves them. May be he's pg

Off to bed to shake this headache.

frazzledoldbag34 · 17/09/2008 21:20

spangle - sorry to inflict my pot-noodle thing on you! It's not the healthiest is it, and in RL I'm keeping it quiet. It's like a secret vice! Although my DH thinks it's hilarious!
And yes I too have been really cold! I've had the heated seats on in my car and the last 2 nights I've had a hot bath before bed which I NEVER EVER do. And the electric blanket has been on which has been driving my DH crazy cos he's always boiling in bed and hates it.
Nervous about my early scan tomorrow. What if there isn't anything there? Or I'm not as far along as I thought? Hope they don't have to do an internal one - uck. Anyway wish me luck, it's at 11.30 so will report back in the afternoon.
Jaamy - feel better soon x
Hi to the newbies - congrats to you!
Sweet dreams ladies and lots of lovely baby glue too x

frazzledoldbag34 · 17/09/2008 21:21

Sorry, must apologise for the over-use of the exlamation mark in the above post. How irritating. So sorry
Is that another early preg symptom I wonder?

Jennster · 17/09/2008 21:40

Iceblock here too. I've been wearing a fleece over my suit at work, but other than the hunger and tiredness, I've no symptoms yet.

Hope everybody else is well, and not too

Oh my god I'm pissing myself at Lost In Austen

bekkaboo · 17/09/2008 21:48

sorry to ask TMI question, but is everyone weeing a lot? Im not at all and starting to worry x

pulapula · 17/09/2008 22:01

No unusual weeing here bekkaboo. Don't worry about symptoms (or lack of them).

FOB34- I had an early scan with my last pg, and i think if its around 6 or 7 weeks (i see you have no idea!), its the only way really. It was a bit embarassing with the male sonographer, but all very discrete and once i could see the image, I didn't care anymore. In some ways, the fact it was internal made it feel more real.
