Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

frazzled I don't feel particularly unwell either. I do feel a bit different most of the time, just ever-ever-so-slightly under the weather with the odd little bout of queasiness now and then. Listening to others' stories I don't know whether to be really pleased to've (so far) escaped throwing up or worried there is no bean in there!

I don't think I've been over-eating particularly and I was hoping I might even lose a bit of weight from all the wine I'm not drinking but I am 2lb heavier and really bloated and struggling to get into some of my clothes - hmph!

flippineck · 10/09/2008 15:33

I've had no sickness so far, and although I am tired it isn't any worse than it has been for the last two years anyway!

Expecting the sickness to start next week - just when I have to fly to spend 2 weeks with family. Travel sickness, morning sickness and in-laws, fab!

missEdith · 10/09/2008 15:39

Jael · 10/09/2008 16:54

Like I said a few days ago, I'm not gonna add myself till Friday when I have my early scan, cuz I'm still getting alot of cramping. I haven't been sick at all yet, but I feel really sick all day, to the point where I'm hardly eating anything because I feel so sick, anyone know what I can do to help this. I feel completely awful! Also, I'm peeing for England. TMI i know but I'm easily going four tims an hour, and I'm having to get up an average of 5 times a night which means I'm not sleeping well

aquababe · 10/09/2008 17:27

ells so sorry your going through this. I hope they find a small healthy baby next time they check. def echo the second opinion scan.

Jael I feel sickest when i don't eat so have had crackers by my bed to nibble on from the moment i wake up.
also ginger can help.
i'm currently drinking chai tea (has ginger in it), ginger cordial or ginger ale and eating ginger biscuits seems to be helping.
my clothes are tight already as I over ate on holiday also i have alsmost no stomach muscles so am convinced I'm going to spring out given half a chance.

oops sorry

carol7 · 10/09/2008 19:36

Hi everyone congratulations to all the new additions to the list. I've been feeling pretty sick for about 2 weeks now, today was quite a good day bit tricky as i work at a school and dont want to tell everyone yet. I have found sucking mints helps. I also have been peeing for england at least 3 times a night. take care

Febes · 10/09/2008 20:44

Hi everyone, I've been feeling fantastic this week which is weird because with DD I was so sick but maybe its still very early and the sickness will start next week. I have lots of energy and feel really excited about this new LO.

Momino · 10/09/2008 23:20

Hi all, my daily post (although think I missed yesterday). A lot goes on in a couple of days. Hope everyone is well.

Me, I'm still slightly nauseous but not sick, have an awful metallic taste in my mouth where I don't feel like eating anything. then, a moment later, I'll be craving a meat pie. strange.

I'm also a bit emotional. Still seeing a counsellor for PND from last pregnancy and bawled today in her office. Not sure if it's depression, pregnancy or both. Anyone else here suffer from PND or depression? I'm so scared it's going to come back full force with this baby but will do my best to manage it.

i think time for bed as i've got an early start if I want to shower tomorrow before little ones wake up at 630. baby glue to all. xx

Cies · 11/09/2008 08:29

Hi all.

Just got back from doc´s surgery where I had to hand in 3 pots of wee and they took 4 vials of blood.

I had a student nurse taking it, which at first had me thinking "uh oh", but she was really good, took her time and it didn´t hurt at all. Her supervisor is a really nice middle-aged male nurse whose presence always calms me because he has a beautiful voice - low, but singsongy.

I normally hate blood being taken, but I have to say that today it was fine.

Still no sickness, but I did come back and eat a whopping great bowl of cereal - what is it about going outside without breakfast that makes you so hungry?

GordonTheGopher · 11/09/2008 10:29

Cies have you got a due date yet? Hope all your tests come back ok!

I'm still panicking that it's going to go pear-shaped. I hate all this waiting!

SlippersAndPipe · 11/09/2008 10:50

Hi all. Welcome and congrats to all the newbies. It's great to see such a long list and an active thread.

I've not been on for a while. Like a few others here, I am absolutely paranoid. Had brown spotting at 5 weeks, which went away after 3 days, but it came back on Monday - much lighter though - so am a regular knicker checker. Hardly any yesterday, and nothing as yet today .

Saw the midwife for the first time this morning and she gave me the details of our local EPU in case I get more worried. She advised me to keep doing pregnancy tests after each spotting episode if I needed reassurance.

However, the pg symtoms are definitely here. I have been sick every day this last fortnight except yesterday (merely hideous retching instead). I managed to eat some tea last night and feel ok this morning. Am sleeping for Britain too, and weeing in the night. DH either chuckles under his breath at my retching or goes off to get me a drink. Thankfully am still keeping up with the lo.

That was a mammoth post all about me wasn't it

Anyone thought about any screening tests? I was handed loads of leaflets today about it.

millionsaway · 11/09/2008 11:16

Morning everyone and thank you for the welcome!

Hope everyone is ok?

I am starting to feel sooo tired already, no sickness yet but I'm sure that will come in the next few weeks - I had terrible sickness with DD, not looking forward to that again but oh well!

I am so glad I found this site! I didn't have internet access when I was pg with DD and I was the first out of all of my friends to have a baby so it was quite lonely at times being the only one! I am look forward to chatting to you all in this pg!!!

Congratulations and good luck to everyone.

SpangleMaker · 11/09/2008 12:12

Gordon slippers I too am in a state of paranoia and in fervent knicker-checking mode.

Slippers, I have been having some spotting too, once a day/every other day since last Thursday I've been getting a pinky wipe of blood. So far it seems to be just in the evening before I go to bed (not helping with a getting good night's sleep!) - wonder if that's significant Like your midwife, my GP didn't seem to think it was important but told me I could go to the EPU if it got worse or I was really worried. I am trying to hold on and see what happens but I'm getting so paranoid!

What screening tests are you going for? We have decided to have the nuchal scan, even if we end up paying for it. I wouldn't want to take the risk of CVS or amnio without doing that first.

Millionsaway hope you manage to avoid the sickness this time.

Cies hopefully it's reassuring they're doing so many tests!

Hi to everyone else

SlippersAndPipe · 11/09/2008 13:11

Hi Spangle. Bizarrely, my spotting seems to be mid/late pm. Most curious. Just checked today and all is well so far. Am sure you are all enjoying the updates on my discharge

Millions - I have the day off work today, but lo still in nursery so am considering heading off for a quick hour in bed.

Think I will go for a nuchal too. We had that with dd, but we do have to pay here and it's £100.

llareggub · 11/09/2008 13:50

Woo hoo! I've had my dating scan date through but have had to change it due to my holidays. It isn't until 20 October, which seems quite a way away, strange to think I'll be 13 weeks by then.

Olderbutnotwiser · 11/09/2008 16:16

Hello everyone have not had chance to post for a couple of days but have just had a quick read through - good to know how you all getting on.

Finally was brave enough to tell DH about the beby on Tuesday night and as i expected he was pretty angry and ended up shouted at me down the phone and telling me to have a termination which i tols him no way would i do before hanging up on me. I half expected him to turn up ranting on the doorstep but later that night he texted me to say it was up to me if i wanted to keep the baby.

He came over the next day as it was our DS's first day at school and he was fine with me and since then we have talked on the phone and its all still friendly - I'm so relieved

Feeling very sick now.On the same medication as last 2 pregnancies and its helping but still feel rotten.

sarah76 · 11/09/2008 18:10

Sorry to have not kept up reading everyone's posts and to be completely self-involved, but having a bit of a freak-out (or was a few hours ago and have now calmed down a bit).

I went for blood tests Monday and Wednesday and called today for the results. Not good. The HCG was 3500 at 6w1d and 5000 at 6w3d, so it isn't doubling the way it is supposed to be. The GP is sending me for a scan tomorrow morning at 10:30 and I just KNOW they are going to see an empty sac. Honestly, check my other MN posts from a week or so ago, I was sure of this when my symptoms started going away. Everyone said 'oh that happens' and to be positive about it, but I just knew something wasn't right.

Yes, I know I have to wait for the scan to confirm. But I think it's over, I really do. I am just trying not to cry, because we just found our dream house, got offer accepted, and got our mortgage today. We are still getting married in January, with or without 'the pea'. I have a new job starting in 10 days that pays really well. Everything else is going right, I think a baby was just too good to be true.

I will let everyone know tomorrow what happens.

SpangleMaker · 11/09/2008 18:30

sarah76 I really hope your instinct is wrong. I don't know how cut & dried it is that HCG levels must double every 48 hours but although yours didn't double they did go up quite significantly. I can see why you are thinking the worst, but I have my fingers crossed for you. Take care and good luck tomorrow x

SlippersAndPipe · 11/09/2008 18:52

Sarah good luck for tomorrow. Will be thinking of you ((hugs))

Older well done for telling dh and glad things have been calm.

llareg when I visited the mw this morning she booked in my next two visits, taking me through to November. Roll on then, I might feel a bit calmer. Oh, she also told me edd is 30 April - hope you all don't mind but I'm going to stay on the May thread and pretend edd is 1 May.

Just heaved my guts up and my throat is now burning. Urgh. I have lost weight over the last two weeks...every cloud and all that
