Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

Oh ellsbellzie sorry to hear that. I thought eptopic pregnancy made you feel very unwell and comes with lots of pain - which doesn't sound like what you're going through.

Good luck for the bloods.

Let us know!

ceeceeanne · 09/09/2008 17:23

Hi ells, hope you are keeping your chin up.
Eptopic without a pain in side and no bleeding sounds odd, hopefully your little one was too small to detect. Good luck with blood tests. Makes my bloatedness trivial

SpangleMaker · 09/09/2008 17:44

ellsbellzie sorry to hear your scan wasn't good. It doesn't sound very conclusive though, it looks like they decided to err on the side of caution re the ectopic. Good luck, hope the blood tests shed some light & give better news.

Jaamy · 09/09/2008 17:50

ellsbellz (((hugs))) What an awful time for you, not knowing one way or the other. I hope your little bean is hiding somewhere and will keep things crossed for you. IN the meantime, try to get some rest. Keep us posted.

2beautifulgals · 09/09/2008 17:55

Hi girls can i please join? Got my BFP this morning at 9DPO..... Makes my due date 22nd may hopefully. Still very early days but i can't help getting excited. We had been trying for 6 months and i was losing hope.
How are you all?

MrsHappy · 09/09/2008 18:00

Hi Guys

I was just checking on you all and saw Ellsbellzie's news.

If you need advice on the possible ectopic, I recommend that you contact the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust. They are incredibly helpful and have a helpline you can call too.

Re the question of pain/bleeding, it's surprisingly common not have have either pain or bleeding. I know this seems counterintuitive with an ectopic, but my experience is that often they don't get terribly big before they are diagnosed and treated.

I hope you get a more positive result, but if not, the EPT is a great source of advice and support.

Take care.

Cies · 09/09/2008 19:03

Sorry Ellsbellzie . It does sound like they´re doing all they can and being nice and cautious which is good.

Welcome 2beautifulgals. Congrats on BFP!

I had docs appt, and mentioned the spotting. She sent me to have an emergency scan, which I got surprisingly quickly (only 30 mins wait). The obstetrician there did an internal scan and said that there were signs of pregnancy, and that there had been bleeding, but there was nothing very conclusive. I don´t really know what to think, except that if it´s meant to be it´s meant to be.

I´ve been told to take it easy for a week and go back for another scan. So, fingers crossed. And of course, taking it easy is a great excuse for extensive mumsnetting!

inni · 09/09/2008 19:14

Hello everyone
I'm sorry to hear your news ellsbell but maybe it's still hope and in the next scan you get a surprise. Fingers crossed for you.
Cies don't worry about the bleeding my gyn didn't find the hematoma on my uterus last week but did this one and this explains the bleeding. And it's a good sign they so the sack.
Congrats on your bfp 2beautiful and welcome.

nauseous · 09/09/2008 21:06

ellsbellzie - this all sounds a bit overwhelming and confusing - I hope you're managing to keep your chin up.

Cies - I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you this week. Really hoping next week's scan will be good news.

2beautifulgals - Congrats on the BFP!!

Really wanted to tell my best friends today but managed to hold off. I am rubbish.

Night all

Loulabella · 09/09/2008 21:10

Ellsbellsie, I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope you get good news at repeat scan. The same thing happened to me recently and I know the EPT is a great source of info and support. Their helpline operates between 10 and 4. If you have any questions in the meantime, I'll answer them if I can.

ellsbellzie · 10/09/2008 01:43

BrightSideOfLife · 10/09/2008 11:10

Hi All,

Sorry I don't have time to write a message to everyone but HELLO!

I just wanted to say to EllsBellsie Good luck for the repeat blood tests but INSIST on having another scan before having any treatment for an ectopic. In my last pregnancy, I was diagnosed as having an ectopic based on my erratic hormone levels. I was even admitted to hospital over Easter for observation while they decided on the best course of treatment. Luckily we insisted (and they agreed) to scan me one more time to try and find the ectopic -within seconds they found a perfectly normal yolk sac and fetal pole in utero. At these early stages, the baby is sooooo tiny that it is easy to miss and blood hormone levels do not always follow text-book guidelines.

Will be thinking of you - it is such a horrible time, stay strong

2beautifulgals · 10/09/2008 11:16

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
Sorry about the uncertainity you are going through ellsbellsie, hopefully you will get more answers today and get back to enjoying your pregnancy.
GordanTG my girls are 2 and 4. Not telling anyone until 12 weeks, even the girls, going to be tough. I am feeling sick already

frazzledoldbag34 · 10/09/2008 13:40

Hi everyone
So sorry to hear about all your trouble ellsbellsie - I really hope they scan you again and see a little bean in the right place. As others have said sometimes they are just too tiny to be seen at first.

Hope everyone else is doing well.
I must admit to being really worried and want to ask a (probably stupid) question -

In my last 2 pregnancies as soon as I've had a BFP I've immediately felt dreadful, knackered, and very sick. This time (and according to GP I'm already 7 wks?) I feel absolutely fine. Boobs a little bit sore and very slightly more tired than usual but on the whole I am not feeling pregnant AT ALL. Is this normal, do other people have experience of all being well with the baby but not having any symptoms? Perhaps I'm just really early on in the pregnancy, but wish I at least felt sick so I knew everything was fine. I can even still drink coffee which I always go off immediately.

Reassurance required please? if anyone has been here before?

(Sorry, I know this probably sounds totally pathetic compared to what a lot of you other ladies are going through but I've convinced myself that there is no baby there, although GP thinks otherwise and it is really upsetting me).

frazzledoldbag34 · 10/09/2008 13:42

By the way, Big Hugs to you all. It's so nice to be able to chat to eveyone and especially big hugs to Ellsbellsie today.

llareggub · 10/09/2008 13:54

frazzled

Maybe you have too much on to give into the tiredness? I've had similar concerns but I have concluded that I'm just not allowed to sleep all the time like I did with my first pregnancy. I have a toddler to take care of this time!

Seriously though, it is normal for the symptoms to come and go. My GP insisted I remember that! Something to do hormone levels and our bodies getting used to it. I convinced myself the other day I wasn't pregnant because I wasn't exhausted and bingo! five minutes later i was knackered again.

flippineck · 10/09/2008 14:01

Congratulations to all the recent BFPs, and EllsBellsie - fingers crossed for you, waiting is horrible isn't it.

I'm still getting intermittent cramping in my lower back - are others still getting/had this? How long does it go on for, and when should I worry about it? Had nothing like this with DD, and although I did get cramping when I had my mc, it was completely different to this.

Oh, and can you all please remind me that being pregnant is not an excuse to eat anything that doesn't run away from me?!

frazzledoldbag34 · 10/09/2008 14:27

LOL at flippineck! I'm guilty of wanting to eat everything in sight too! (says she munching on a biscuit)

I think the cramping is most likely fine, don't worry, its probably just things starting to move and stretch caused by the action of the pregnancy hormones on the muscles and ligaments. Feeling like your period is constantly about to start is how I'd have described it before and it has happened to me in both previous pregnancies (and come to think of it , a bit in this one too). It should settle down after a week or two. If not obviously check with your doc or mw.

frazzledoldbag34 · 10/09/2008 14:31

Llareggub - thanks for the reassurance. Maybe I am just too busy to give in, but the absence of the early morning nausea is concerning me.....I've never felt 'well' in early pregnancy before!!!
(Tomorrow morning I'll probably wake up and puke!) then I'll be sorry for complaining! Just wish I had a 'see through tummy' as my DD1 wanted me to have last time I was pregnant so we could have a look and see what was happening in there!

frazzledoldbag34 · 10/09/2008 14:34

Or maybe I just feel ok because it's going to be a boy? (My other 2 DC's are girls).......hmmmm
I just can't shake the feeling that there's something wrong.

llareggub · 10/09/2008 14:38

flipeneck we're having building work done and are currently without a kitchen. What a great excuse to gorge on food that needs hardly an preparing! I am eating far too much but at least I can use that as a reason to explain away my rapidly expanding tummy!

I am 7 weeks today and already the size of a house.

llareggub · 10/09/2008 14:40

frazzled I never had any sickness when pregnant with my DS.

This time I am tired (although in waves) have cramps in lower tummy and the odd bit of heartburn. I'm also quite grumpy and very emotional....I cry at anything!

flippineck · 10/09/2008 15:16

Agree about crying at anything - the other night I cried at the Paralympic highlights because a girl won a gold medal. What's that all about then?

Cies · 10/09/2008 15:19

I haven´t felt sick sick yet, just a little queasy a couple of times.

I am however desperately trying not to eat the entire contents of my fridge .

This is not helped by the fact that because I am officially "taking it easy" I can´t go out and go for a walk or go to the gym, so I keep thinking "shall I cook something?". I´ve even been researching cake recipes in MN recipes section.
