Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

Mrs Happy and Charlie, really sad to hear your news and don't really know what else to say.

I saw GP this morning and told her my concerns about disappearing symptoms. Because there's no bleeding, I can't have an early scan, but she's going to do blood tests Monday and Wednesday that should show if it's progressing 'normally'. She also told me to stop the Metformin right away and the Efexor ASAP.

Nothing to do but wait now. . .

llareggub · 05/09/2008 17:29

sarah76, there is significant research to support that metformin reduces the risk of miscarriage in women with PCOS. Is your GP aware of this?

missEdith · 05/09/2008 17:32

Hi all

charlie I ma sorry this is happening to you

ladies I will take a break from the thread, somehow I feel symptoms have disappeared and I have been feeling quite fragile about it all so I will keep away for now

best of luck to you all, I really wish you can all have lovely healthy uneventful pregnancies

Olderbutnotwiser · 05/09/2008 18:33

Charlie, Mrs H and MissEdith - so sorry to hear your sad news. Virtual hugs to you all.

Please can someone add me to the list, i'm afraid i'm not good enough with computers to attempt that. Have no idea how to do it.

Whoever was talking about 21 year gaps my DD will be a month short of 22 when this one is due, although there are children in between.

Went for my scan in EPAC today and there is no sign of my coil as I expected. Found a gestation sac and yolk sac but baby too small to see heartbeat so have to go back in 2 weeks. Now just have to tell DH. Have been to see advisors at my local Domestic Violence Unit for Support and advice as I think he will take it very badly and i am really scared about telling him, but he needs to know and its only right to tell him soon

frazzledoldbag34 · 05/09/2008 19:58

Hello everyone
I posted on this thread about a week and a half ago - have only been TTC for a few weeks and had mirena coil out of 1 August. Did a pregnancy test this afternoon and it DEFINITELY has a faint blue line......so I think I might now be eligible to join you lot!!
Am a mixture of delighted and nervous (this will be my 3rd child). Have DD1 age 7 and DD2 age 23months.
Symptoms so far include heartburn for the last week, mood swings (more so than usual!) and today my hairdresser made me a cappucino (which tasted so vile that I came home and immediately took the preg test!) - coffee always tastes horrid when I'm pg - like the milk is off or something.
Anyway no idea when I'm due in May as LMP was a week before coil taken out and no idea when I ovuated.
Will update once I've been to doc etc at some point, but I'm guessing mid-late May??????
Congrats to all PG ladies, so happy to be joining you and hope everyone enjoys a healthy pregnancy. Haven't read the whole thread - hope everyone is doing fine.
Sorry, am just so happy to be Pg so quickly - had convinced myself it would take ages.

carol7 · 05/09/2008 21:29

Hi all good luck to everyone I am pregnant due 9th May i also have a big age gap 12 years. Feeling pretty nauseous but have been told thats a good sign. not been to doctors yet take care everyone

BrownieBells · 05/09/2008 21:44

Mrs Happy, Charlie & Missedith - to hear your news. echo everything everyone else has said - strength and hugs to you all and godspeed.
thinking of you all
x

missEdith · 05/09/2008 22:10

hi everyone sorry I did not mean to mislead you
as far as I know I am still pregnant, just not feeling it and getting anxious and obsessive

so I thought it best to step back and wait until I have some firm idea of what is going on

take care all will keep you posted and would really love to be back with good news

congratulations to newbies and welcome

frazzledoldbag34 · 05/09/2008 22:11

Have just read some of the most recent postings on the thread and huge sympathies go out to charlie, mrs happy and miss edith. So sorry for you all. I hope you all have good support to help you come to terms with what is happening and fingers crossed for happy news in the future

Feel a bit guilty about being so happy with my BFP this afternoon, and have been running to the loo all evening 'knicker checking'. Feel as though my period is about to start (but then I remember feeling like that with both my daughters pregnancies before - and it was fine) so trying not to be paranoid. I'm the only one out of my close friends who hasn't suffered a miscarriage or loss of some kind so am really worried that it might be 'my turn' now - is that mad? Am a bit hormonal I think, children started new school and nursery and its all been a bit of a trauma. Sorry waffling on ....

Anyway as I said earlier no idea when I'm due, reckon it can only be a couple of weeks since I ovulated as Mirena taken out on 1 August..... who knows? And when should I go to the Doc? Again who knows......I want to ask about CVS this time as will be 35 soon and history of Downs syndrome in immediate family.............any advice on CVS would be great. (Had amnio with DD1 but couldn't with DD2 as bled on and off (more on than off) from 14-26 weeks so they refused to do it).
Anyway good luck everyone. night

frazzledoldbag34 · 05/09/2008 22:13

oh miss edith that's fab - I misunderstood!
Fingers crossed for good news. x

SpangleMaker · 06/09/2008 13:40

Oh my, been on a business trip for 2 days and so much has happened!

MrsHappy Charlie I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. Sending you lots of Look after yourselves xx

justgotbfp I hope you are ok and getting proper medical care, I believe there are medications they can give for hyperemesis.

MissEdith take care, hope to see you back on here soon.

olderbutnotwiser I will add you to the list in a minute. Good luck telling your DH. He may not react as badly as you think (I hope this is the case) but you are right to be prepared.

Congratulations to all the 'newbies' (not that I am thinking myself an 'oldie' - at least not in terms of this thread)

I had one teeny bit of pinky bleeding on Thursday afternoon but nothing since . Am hoping it is nothing to be too concerned about but I will mention it when I see the GP on Tuesday.

Felt a bit guilty last night as I had a few sips of champagne at a family meal. Didn't want to but also didn't want to raise suspicions. Managed to sneak out the room and tip it down the bathroom sink It was very tempting to tell everyone - my brother and his girlfriend and step-sis & her boyfriend have just got engaged, and my Dad kept going on about just needing a christening now. But after the bit of bleeding I didn't think it was the right thing to do.

Hope everyone else is ok.

frazzledoldbag34 · 06/09/2008 15:32

Hi all
Just on here for a quick minute as have a house full and feeling ssooooooo tired. Have also (I think) got a urine infection as have a bit of lower back pain and pain when I wee. Docs closed until monday so am just drinking cranberry juice and lots of water and hoping it doesn't get any worse. Don't know where it's come from - haven't suffered with this for years and last time ended up with high temp, vomiting and antibiotics....If anyone has any other suggestions to help get rid of it quickly please let me know . (I'm also concerned as I've heard that urine infections can sometimes cause a miscarriage.........hope not, anyone know about this?)
Anyway have a good weekend everyone
Still v v excited by the way.....

llareggub · 06/09/2008 16:14

I'm really tired too. I've spent this afternoon and yesterday afternoon snoozing!

I'm a bit worried about how I'll keep this is a secret from work. I have a very pronounced and recognisable bump. It's as if my body has thought, "aaah, pregnancy, great, streeeeeeeeeeetch!"

God knows what I'll look like at 20 weeks. I'm sitting here in my favourite maternity pants from last time and embarrassingly they don't fall down. Gulp.

DH has very kindly told me that maybe I won't get much bigger for ages.

GordonTheGopher · 06/09/2008 18:48

Hello! Can I join?

I'm due on the 16th May with no2.

Was completely convinced I had failed again this month so managed to do pretty much everything that is not allowed in the two week wait! Oops!

Hopefully I'll be sticking around!

Olderbutnotwiser · 06/09/2008 18:57

Thank you for adding me Spanglemaker. Am due 1st May as well, and yes you missed DS aged 16.

Was just going to ring DH and tell him. Said 16yr old just returned home so bang goes my privacy to have difficult conversation. Won't be able to keep it a secret much longer as my stomach is so bloated. DH was looking after the children today as I've been at work. When i got in he poked me in the stomach and started to tease me about getting a bit chubby - lost 1/2 stone about a month ago and its blatantly gone back on.

Work was a bit grim as first day with the beginnings of MS. In the past I have had to have anti emetics and time off work and it looks to be going that way already. Can't believe yesterday I was panicking cos hadn't had sickness and worried i was going to miscarry.

detsy · 06/09/2008 19:52

Hi All

Sorry not been on a few days, DD has had that awful sickness and diarrohea bug - she's only 9 months so it has been manic and very messy I'm now feeling really quesy and DH coooking fish for his tea is defo not helping, lol!! So hoping I don't get it as well.

Also DH has "accidently" told our neighbours, grrrrr!!!

Now X Factor has just made me cry buckets - but i'm sure it did for most people who saw it

frazzledoldbag34 · 06/09/2008 20:02

Detsy - yes oh my goodness I've been blubbing too at that. Must be all the hormones (don't normally cry at the tv). Was just so sad tho. Hope you feel better and your little girl recovers quickly. There's nothing worse.

I only got my BFP yesterday afternoon and my DH has already blabbed to one of his close friends who is also TTC. Am not pleased. Don't even know my due date yet!

frazzledoldbag34 · 06/09/2008 20:03

I mean I'm not pleased at him, not at being Pg. So I know how you feel. Men are idiots sometimes.

WobblyPig · 06/09/2008 20:09

Having a bit of a cry-fest - first X-factor - then a thread with a baby with epidermolysis bullosa whose dad is running a 1/2 marathon. The thought of having a baby with a disease like that has really upset me and to think of how brave both the parents have to be to see their little one in pain. Sorry to bring down the mood but if anyone can sponsor the daddy the thread is on active convos now.

sarah76 · 06/09/2008 20:18

llareggub, I did say to my GP about research showing metformin reduces risk of miscarriage in PCOS women, and she said she had heard some about it, but that the current advice was still to stop it once pregnant. I really like her, but am a little worried about stopping. However. . . .I do have quite a bit I could just keep taking, wondering if I should just do that? I'd just gotten my prescription refilled for 3 months before I saw her---so enough to take me through 1st trimester. My only worry is, if I do it, it's without doctor's consent/endorsement, and if something happens are they going to blame me for doing it? Or can they tell in blood tests that I'm taking it? Will it screw up any numbers?

I didn't take any today or yesterday, and I'm cutting my Efexor down even faster on her recommendation. It makes me feel lightheaded to miss it completely even though GP says I'm at a 'sub-therapeutic' level. Partner says I seem no more nutty than usual though!

ellsbellzie · 06/09/2008 20:41

Hi,Congratulations to u all! Hope u dont mind me joining, im due around the 4th May! Im a little worried at the mo this is my second pregnancy my son is now 10, and I had a fab 1st pregancy though didnt find out until 5 and 1/2 months gone! Ive been bleeding brownish blood and a little red yesterday, just started to get pains too, really scared hoping its not a m/c. I spoke to my dr yesterday who didnt seem worried at all, then I rang NHS direct who said to ring drs on monday and ask for a scan, as there is nothing they can do really unless im in agony! Lets hope all is well!!!

bekkaboo · 06/09/2008 20:44

Can I join please? I just had my very very early BFP, due 19th May, this will be my second. Mys DS is 2 just! How am I going cope!!

llareggub · 06/09/2008 21:20

sarah76

I was under consultant care when I was pregnant with my DS, an endocrinologist called Dr Boardman who has a particular interest in PCOS. She wrote to my GP to endorse my continued use of metformin and I attended her clinic for monitoring throughout my pregnancy. DS was born a healthy 8 pounds 12!

I saw my GP last week and mentioned metformin and told her that I planned to continue with it. I reminded her about the letter from my consultant from last time and she happily gave me a repeat prescription.

I need to be happy with your decision, and I have to say I did read the research carefully before deciding to take it last time. I didn't get gestational diabeates either, and metformin reduces the risk of developing it too.

Of course, women with diabetes who are prescribed metformin continue to take it. I wonder if your GP is aware of that?
