Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

Thanks SpangleMaker you're right i'll probably wake up with raging sickness tomorrow! I've been more thirsty too actually and very tired. Even when it came up pregnant didn't really believe it!

Congratulations and good luck bantam73! Well done SpangleMaker, you must be over the moon after 8 months of trying!

SpangleMaker · 03/09/2008 20:01

Yes, I was waiting for AF to arrive to kick off investigations into apparent infertility, only to be told by a friend who works at a local GP surgery(who didn't know we were TTC) that our local PCT offers NO help to infertile couples, not even blood tests! So I was really chuffed to get a BFP. I suppose even if things don't go right this time, at least I know I can get pregnant. I was worried about blocked tubes and all sorts!

detsy · 03/09/2008 23:00

Hallo All
Quick hello as supposed to havebeen workign today but been making purees instead... Just can't concentrate with my cold and only just having returned to work as well.
I have some concerns about my dd as she will only be 18 months when the next one arrives - perhaps its good to have such a small gap?? Well good her the sprogs - not so sure about our sanity!!

I have little/no symptons either - other than the odd cramp which ensures yet another check of the gusset....lol

Finally caved in and bought some Tena - feel like an old lady (well I suppose I am at 40!!) Back to concentrating on my PFE right now - can't be leakig forever!

Ok off to bed as up at 6 for a dastardly meeting in the office - snore bore...

Hope all have a good night's sleep
x

detsy · 03/09/2008 23:02

Gosh - terrible grammar and spellings - so sorry!!

BrownieBells · 03/09/2008 23:15

Hello all and welcome to all other newcomers. This thread moves so fast - it is virtually impossible to keep up!

I too have virtually no symptoms, just general tiredness and my work clothes no longer fitting (am sure it is too early for this tho!?) and feeling more thristy than normal.

Anyway, must go - need to get to bed and have 3 more cds to download onto ipod first!
x

inni · 04/09/2008 07:34

Morning girls
How is everyone doing this morning? did anyone get a good night sleep? If you did you are really lucky. Congrats to mamakin and bantam73 (sorry about your mcs) and welcome. Hey Detsy hope you are feeling better of your cold. It feels horrible when you are sick during pg.
About symptoms they are on and off. The light bleeding has stopped for 24 hs already so really happy. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.
About clothes are starting to get tight around the waist probably cos of my bloated bump. This week is passing by really slowwww. I can't wait to Monday scan and that I'll be 6w and will be just another 6 to end this first trimester of worries.

SesHasapinkline · 04/09/2008 07:43

Morning inni!
Glad the bleeding has stopped - must be a relief

I slept better last night that I have in about a week but could be as I was out last night with friends from work. Was v thankful that I had a long drive home so there were no queries about why I wasn't drinking
I did however struggle to do my jeans up - I'm only 4+2 for goodness sake! I'm sure many women wouldn't even know they were pg yet!! Maybe I'm subconsiously stocking up on food before the sickness arrives??!
Hope I don't bloat out too much v soon as DH and I are at a black and white ball on Saturday and I've bought a new dress that only just fitted me a fortnight ago....

Browniebells - this does seem to be a v fast moving thread!

detsy - hope you're feeling better this morning

Spangle - that's really rubbish that your PCT doesn't help with infertility but hopefully you don't have to worry about that now

inni · 04/09/2008 08:06

It's happening the same to me with my jeans, so uncomfortable I have to put them under my belly. Bought some new big t-shirts that can cover a bit more the bump as my everyday one are getting too short to be used.
Seshasa Really hope you do fit into the dress and look beautiful (hope you don't need to give explanations if you don't want to tell yet you are expecting)

SesHasapinkline · 04/09/2008 08:10

Thanks inni! Don't really want to tell anyone yet (only DH and bf know) as last time I think I looked a bit silly for telling people and then having mc.
(Actually I'm sure they didn't think I was silly but that's how I felt!) Don't think we'll tell anyone else until we've had a successful scan and hearf a hb.

Right! I'd better think about heading off to work! Catch you all later

SesHasapinkline · 04/09/2008 08:11

oops!
heard a hb!

bantam73 · 04/09/2008 08:26

Good morning everyone
I've had to get my old maternity clothes out already, my normal jeans were just too tight and uncomfy.
No one has asked me anything about my bump apart from my 2 1/2 year old who told me I have eaten too much and need to stop before I get too fat!!!!!!!!!!
I am only 5 wks 2 days but this is my 3rd so my stomach muscles gone to dust!!Plus I think the gap of 14 years between no 1 and 2 may have some thing to do with it.
But I know someone that will have a 21 year gap between theirs, whoops

llareggub · 04/09/2008 08:31

bantam73, I am exactly the same. I work with someone who is 24 weeks pg with her first and I swear I look more pregnant than her at 6 weeks!

I've looked for my maternity clothes this morning but can't find the jeans. I suspect I was so sick of the sight of them I binned them after having DS. I do want to buy some clothes as I am getting bigger but having had 2 mcs this year I am reluctant.

Last night I had it all...frequent trips to the loo, a cramp-like feeling in my leg, nausea and a big bloated tummy! I even got emotional at Private Practice. I don't feel as stressed out about this pregnancy, and perhaps that is a good thing. I was terrified last time. Roll on 13 weeks, that's what I say.

Wouldn't be great if we found out about our pregnancies after the first trimester ends?

bantam73 · 04/09/2008 08:53

It felt strange/silly when i bought myself some maternity trousers for work the other day but i had to cos i was worry that if i didn't and anything bad happens i would blame it on wearing tight trousers.
I know how my mind worked sometimes in the past and i carried some thing wrong or laid wrong in bed thats why i mc, silly things that you know is a complete load of rubbish but it pops in there.
Anyway i feel good in myself so it will be fine this time, i'm just having a waffle.
All we can do is go with the flow and wait as we watch the calendar!!

SesHasapinkline · 04/09/2008 08:58

bantam - don't worry! Last night I was really worried my tight jeans were going to cause problems for my little bean.
I think my worry is that most of you are 5-6 weeks and I'm only 4+2 with my first dc!!! Maybe I'm just eating whatever at the moment!

llareggub · 04/09/2008 08:59

I went to see the GP earlier this week, Bantam. I asked her what I could do to increase the chances of this pregnancy succeeding.

She was very good. She told me that nothing I did, or said, or anything, would have made any difference last time. She told me to relax, take it easy and think positive. One thing she did advise, which I mentioned earlier in the thread, was to take baby aspirin until I have my scan. So that's exactly what I'm doing: aspirin, happy thoughts and plenty of rest!

justgotbfp · 04/09/2008 09:02

hi all dh banned me from the laptop for a while to force me to rest. Still very, very sick here!!! Not sure how to get through another 6 weeks like this!. Are anti nausea medications ok in pregnancy??? I am managing to keep very very icy cold sips of drink down but not much else, being sick every 40-60minutes but sometimes nothing comes up so I can't have much left. I am despite all the puking looking decidedly pot bellied also so between that and the time off work not sure if this will stay a secret for long.

SesHasapinkline · 04/09/2008 09:07

justgotbfp - I'd go and see your GP if I were you. You can get the anti nausea wrist bands over the counter and try those but otherwise don't self medicate and see your GP as they may agree to prescribe you something.
A friend of mine once said what worked for her was a dry biscuit like a rich tea nibbled v slowly throughout the day.
Sorry, you may know most of that already but hth and you feel better soon.

bantam73 · 04/09/2008 09:15

Hi
Thank for the messages I know there nothing you can really do or not do but sometimes when you can't sleep and you just lay there staring at the ceiling things pop in your mind, stop it i say then i think of my 2 and their labour and think not again!!
I am fine just waffling, never been on a site like this before

aquababe · 04/09/2008 09:50

Hello and congrats to all those newbies

well I had my first blurrrgh session last night. (In my parents toilet hee hee)
and though it was unpleasant I couldn't help being grateful that chances are this little bean is sticking around longer than mc no2.
now 5 1/2 weeks

just dropped my lo off at nursery for the first time. Shes still so little, but she was so brave, it was me fighting back the tears.

inni glad to hear your bleeding stopped it's always worrying isn't it

totally know what you all mean about trousers. Just back from two weeks visiting in laws and am sooo over weight. If I wasn't pregnant i'd be on an emergency diet by now.

justgotbfp · 04/09/2008 09:59

thanks seshasapinkline, can't get into a dr appointment until the 11th, I wasn't going to take anything myself but someone earlier on the thread talked about anti nausea and was wondering if there are some that are ok. DH is getting a bit worried with how sick I am being, feeling very dry to so trying hard to keep fluids going in.
Bantam don't worry about waffle that is what a site like this is for, so you can waffle and get it out without driving the family batty (well that is what I use if for anyway) Aquababe is sickness then a good sign that mc may not occur, if so then I don't think I could get much sicker than this but it maybe a good sign.

BrightSideOfLife · 04/09/2008 10:13

Good morning all,

bantam I know exactly what you mean about analysiing every little thing you did before the last mc and trying not to replicate it. Was it that business trip at 5 weeks pregnant? Was it that sip of champagne? Was it that late night? It is so hard not to do and perfectly natural. I also know what you mean about tight clothes too. I cannot fasten my jeans (I am 5+6 today). It is so uncomfortable (like my bladder is full, but it isn't?) I also definitely notice that my nausea is worse when I have tighter trousers on.

hi again ses. I just wanted to add that I definitely found tight clothes more uncomfortable in the last two weeks (i.e. when I was 4 wks) and it does seem slightly better now. Maybe I have the bloating more under control - but don't worry about being uncomfortable so soon!

justgotBFP definitely get to your GP, you shouldn't have to suffer like this. In the meantime, make sure that whatever you are drinking is as nutritious as possible. Fruit juices and sports drinks will help a little to replace the salts and sugars in your body.

llareggub it is good to hear a doctor say something like that, isn't it? When I started having problems in my last pregnancy - I asked what I should and shouldn't be doing. She replied along the same lines as your GP but added that I needed to be realistic. If I was considering doing something that could later be blamed on a miscarriage, not to do it. Not because there was a risk of miscarriage, but because the guilt if something DID go wrong would be hard to deal with. I know it wasn't a really positive message, but it I have found it really helpful.

inni really glad the bleeding has stopped

hello to every one else, sorry - I know I am missing people out of my message!

inni · 04/09/2008 10:39

hey Justgotbpf I'm sorry to hear your are feeling so sick I really hope you get better soon. Thanks aquababe I'm scared of going to the loo and check if it's some spotting. Thanks God it hasn't been any since yesterday morning. I hope it's a good sign. I think I'll be do another test on Sat to make sure it's still positive (really scary though). I have this problem with pants in my second pg too as started to wear maternity jeans at 8w. I think this time around will be the same or sooner as they are starting to make feel real strangled. I feel really sad for all of you who have had mc. I really hope it never happens to me. Scares me a lot when I hear all your stories and that this misfortune can happen to anyone. I wish you all a wonderful 9 months pg with a beautiful happy ending and DC on your arms. This time will be it.

missEdith · 04/09/2008 10:50

good morning knicker checkers et al

inni so glad your bleed stopped

here lack of sleep with assorted worries crowding my mind

not much in way of nausea but then again I never had much of that, still don't feel pregnant at all just super worried

I vowed I would continue jogging or at least walk/run but I seem to be too worried, although my mood begs for it

I hope everyone is well

charlie1000 · 04/09/2008 10:57

Morning everyone and hope everyone's is well. I'm sorry to bring everyone down but am worried I might be miscarrying. Yesterday my boobs stopped hurting completely and bloatedness has totally gone too. Woke up this morning and have been bleeding dark red and now brighter, like start of period. Went to Doctor who has referred me to EPU but might have to wait til after the weekend to get a scan. In the meantime she said that if I start getting pains and very heavy to go to A+E. Feeling really low and not holding out much hope. Sorry to be a kiljoy

Momino · 04/09/2008 11:03

good morning all. lol, MissE, at the knicker checkers label... that, we are!

am also very overwhelmed, emotional and feel like crying - but that could be my overladen work load getting to me combined with hormones and lack of sleep.

thought I felt a bit of nausea, but now it's gone. Still don't believe i'm pregs. but my tummy is big too, in a bloated way.

Inni, so glad your bleed stopped.

back to work as i'm procratinating now. i'd much rather chat with you lot, though. Hope you're all feeling well, nausea and colds gone!
