Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

Wobbly, I do know what you mean. Last night DS was in and out of our room and I was so tired, it was awful. I really got frustrated the other day, although that was before I found out I was pregnant.

I'm sure you'll cope admirably, although I guess you won't believe it today. We're all here to sympathise and support you too.

Jaamy · 02/09/2008 21:27

It is difficult (and very tiring) with other DCs but before you know it you'll wonder what you ever did with one (or no) DCs. Tis better that they are seeking attention now rather than in 8 months. Make the most of the time when it's just you and them. Everything falls into place. I have 20 months between my 2 and it's lovely when they play together and help each other out. When we brought DD2 home from hospital, DD1 just kept patting her head and asking for a cuddle. It's amazing how quickly they seem to grow up when they become big brother or sister.

Not sure I'm happy about the MW appt on Fri. Seems too soon but receptionist did ask how far gone I was and so must be normal to have booking appt at around 6 weeks. Just wanted to get in asap so I could get a date for the scan. DH needs as much notice as possible for time off.

MrsHappy - you've got a lot going on...hope all appts go ok.

I've also made a docs appt for rash that appeared on my leg the day I got BFP (9 days ago). Have googled it and all that I can come up with is something that usually happens in late stages of pg which disappears after birth. Not sure I want a scabby leg for 8 months.

BFP - hope you are a bit better today?

Jennster · 02/09/2008 21:36

SES - snap. I work for the third largest.

Does anyone else have back pain? I've got like a line of pain across the middle of my back almost where my bra strap goes. It's not caused by my bra as it feels more inside. It's too high to suggest a problem or kidneys or anything but is a bit strange and has happened for the last 3 evenings. Maybe my boobs are so sore, the pain is transferring???!!!

Jaamy - I guess at least if you see MW on Friday, you're more likely to get that scan sooner. Hope your rash calms down.

Jennster · 02/09/2008 21:47

I meant SESHASAPINKLINE

SpangleMaker · 02/09/2008 21:50

Ses I think things can get a bit bloated inside as the progesterone relaxes the intestines and so on, perhaps with this plus an evening meal there's a bit of pressure in there. Either that or your boobs have grown so much your back muscles are aching

Ses, was it you who said you've been waking up really early? I have been doing this too. I'm frustrated as I thought I should be sleeping loads in early pregnancy. Probably the stress/excitement.

SesHasapinkline · 02/09/2008 21:59

Jennster - sorry do you mean you are also a pharmacist and work for the 3rd largest chain?? Whereabouts are you geographically? I'm in the south east.

Spangle - yes it is me that keeps waking up early. I had 3 mornings consistently at 4.30am when I was wide awake. Last night I just briefly woke up at 2.30am, 4am and 5.15am before waking properly at 6am. Wait and see what happens tonight!
As for back pain - I just don't know. It could be the hormones I guess!
Did I see that this is your first dc like me? It's all v exciting isn't it?! Just fingers crossed everything goes ok!

Jennster · 02/09/2008 22:09

Yes ses NorthWest

SesHasapinkline · 02/09/2008 22:16

Fab! We pharmacists get everywhere....!

Just had a look at your profile - your dc are v cute

Jennster · 02/09/2008 22:21

Why thankyou! Had forgotten they were on general viewing.

charlie1000 · 02/09/2008 22:23

Well feeling bit better after Dr's appointment this afternoon. She has prescribed me methyldopa for my high blood pressure which I am told is perfectly safe through pregnancy. I have also been referred to senior consultant which is reassuring that they are monitoring me and hopefully keeping things under control this time round. MrsHappy was it you who said you had taken this in previous pg? If so, did you feel ok and any side effects?

Seshasapinkline you should be absolutely fine with hairdressers, especially if you're having highlights, as colour is not in contact with skin anyway. Although there have previously been a lot of write-ups about having colour in pregnancy, I really don't think there's anything to worry about. I wouldn't recommend having colour for the first time when your pg but if it's just your usual touch up then fine, no probs. I have tint on my hair and never had a problem with it. (Perming on the other hand is a bit more temperamental- wouldn't recommend)

HTH

MrsHappy · 02/09/2008 22:27

Yes Charlie, I had methyldopa and it was fine - no side effects at all, and it did control my bp pretty well. You'll need to swap to something compatible with breastfeeding after the baby is born though (assuming you want to bf).

missEdith · 03/09/2008 08:42

hi Sarah welcome and congratulations

I had a bad night strong stomach pain left me feeling really emotional fearing it was all over I really hate this stage so stressful and with hormones bursting up all over the place

sorry about this being a downer had to let it out
hope everyone is well today

off to take dd to pre school in a minute

inni · 03/09/2008 09:03

congatulations pinkcandy anf sarah76 and welcome. I agree with Jaamy about how difficult can be deal with your DCs when you feel you just want to lay down and rest. My DS (almost 3) started preschool on Monday and although I know will be a good help for me as just have to look after DD (13m) but she feels so lonely without her brother than asks for my attention constantly. I've been sleeping really bad lately too and have pain in my back although don't know if it's caused by pg or having to carry around my girl. Definitely it's not that my bbs are getting bigger, at least not yet.
After 18 hours without bleeding started again this morning but only when I wipe (sorry tmi). I hope it goes away soon cos it's a bit scary.
Good luck to all of you who are getting checked on this week. At a six week scan they can check for heartbeat and see if is growing properly. Fingers crossed

missEdith · 03/09/2008 16:17

hi how is everyone? quiet around here, did I depress everyone into hiding? sorry

hope all s well

Momino · 03/09/2008 16:26

MissE,
you've not depressed anyone! that's what we're here for. actually, I haven't been on much as working today. Hope you're feeling better.

Speaking of siblings, I wish my dd1 would have adjusted better than she did. there are 20 months between them and dd1 was so clingy and emotional when dd2 arrived, it was heartbreaking. we did all the things like encourage her to help, which worked for a minute but there was a lot of jealousy. still is a bit but now, after a year, dd1 is much better at helping and they've settled into a more 'normal' sibling rivalry - bit of pushing but more kisses and hugs.

wonder how they'll both be when the new one comes along...

missEdith · 03/09/2008 16:35

fine thanks I did get another PG test as I did the first 1 day before F due
honestly once you've had mc nothing is ever the same, i do so envy people to whom that is not a present thought, bless them

and yes I wonder when the reality hits dd how she will do, at the moment it is constant I want a sister or a brother better a sister

she is very sociable and is loving preschool and I hope that 4yrs difference makes some things easier

Momino · 03/09/2008 16:54

i think the age will make a difference as she can communicate better than my dd1 did at 20 months.

also my dd1 is a very emotional and clingy person by character. everyone's different.

i want to do a pg test again as I still can't believe. maybe will do on the weekend. still not feeling pregnant at all.

missEdith · 03/09/2008 17:01

it is weir isn't it I remember first time around I spent ages sticking my belly out and dying to wear pregnancy clothes

you can never tell with siblings, I expect it is up to the parents to prepare and support but a certain amount of regression and ambivalence is to be expected, it must be hard going from having mummy and daddy full attention to having to share it with a baby who does not give much back
not to mention newly exhausted parents dealing wiht all of that what have I done?!

mamakim · 03/09/2008 17:36

hi girls, how are you all today?

i know it's early but i'm already worried about how we're going to prepare my ds for a new baby. i hopw some of you will have some tips!

i did a digital test this morning because it still doesn't feel real at all. i have no symptoms at all!? is there anyone else the same? don't get me wrong i'm not begging for morning sickness but with my ds i had such tender boobs it was untrue but i have nothing this time.

bantam73 · 03/09/2008 18:58

Hi everyone
I'm due on 5th May if all goes well. I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 16 1/2 year old aswell. In the past I have had 2 miscarraiges, 1 at 7 wks and 1 at 11 wks. So I'm keeping my legs crossed and hoping it will be fine. But it's so scarry.

SpangleMaker · 03/09/2008 19:38

mamakim I don't have many symptoms - occasional, very mild queasiness, boobs a bit bigger but not sore, and a bit more thirsty than usual. That's it. I did a test this morning because I was a bit concerned, and I saw the line immediately & by 3 mins it was really dark. So I guess we all react differently to hormones. It's early days yet though, there's still time for ms to hit!

bantam73 congratulations!! Sorry to hear about your mcs. This is my first pregnancy but it took 8 months to get and am 37 so I'm quite scared. Just trying to take one day at a time (only about another 40 to 12 weeks!) Good luck x
