Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mybabysinthegarden · 06/08/2008 21:21

Had my 28 week appt yesterday and everything seems to be in order. Have had a couple of spells of feeling faint with palpitating heart though, has anyone else had this? It's mostly happened on days when it's been really humid.

Hi beaufies, I have the same EDD (27th) though it sounds like you'll be welcoming your dc a little earlier than I will. My first was a few days early though so I'm hoping that dc2 will follow suit.

Hedgepig -- weepy spells here too, set off by the most random things. I normally cry about once a year so finding the floods of tears set off by dh not emptying the dishwasher very strange.

hansnava -- I thought you got as many cracks at the turn in the road as you needed, as long as you didn't touch the curb. Though I failed my 2nd driving test following this maneouvre by driving off down the wrong side of the road so perhaps not the greatest authority...

SmudgeyDoodle · 06/08/2008 21:38

Ekka, I've been looking at double buggies and not convinced by any I've seen. I don't like the idea of LO being so low down in P&T either nor of the non-view that the person at the back gets. DH and I were planning on strapping wheels to a little stool that DS likes for a sort of sitting down buggy-board. I think it'll work fine

bigmouthstrikesagain · 06/08/2008 21:42

Evening - I am glad I am not the only emotional wreck at the moment! Had to stop watching my much anticipated prime suspect boxset last week in floods of tears as the storyline of PS4 revolves around the abduction of a babygirl. I am usually a hardened thriller reader so not used to being so vulnerable. Also was tearing up over the washing up listening to Massive Attack's 'Protection' - dh is taking the p* of course...

Got my 28 week blood results and am 'slightly' anemic so will start being more vigilant about taking pg vits and get some spinach in!

Mybabysinthegarden you sound like you might be a bit anemic too as faintness and palpatations can be a symptom spk to your midwife - it could be the heat of course so don't worry.

hansnava · 06/08/2008 23:45

evening all
thanks myjobismum
mybabysinthegarden my driving instrutor has told me to appeal against it. i will but i cant really do ne thing until after baby is born as if i appeal all i will get is a free test and if i get that i will still have to wait 6 - 8 weeks for another test so even if it came trough straight away saying i'd won the appeal i would be to close to my due date if not already there.
to be honest im more p*ed off with the post office today

star6 · 07/08/2008 06:28

mybabyisinthegarden - I have this and have had it for several weeks now (I'm 30 weeks) - the dizziness, racing heart, shortness of breath...etc. It's anaemia. Maybe it's that for you? What did your blood test say? I've had to have a lot of blood tests because the hb was 4.8 at one point. it's back up to almost 8 now, so quite a bit better, but I don't think they like to see the number 9 or under... trying to convince them to give me iron injection now as the 3iron tabs 3X/day did NOT work at ALL... but FLORADIX (all natural... lower iron content, but much more easily absorbed) helped a lot!! I still take floradix and feel much, much better. And it tastes great... I think it even got rid of a chest cold No, I'm not the floradix poster girl... others on mn recommended it.. it's wonderful. It's£9.98 at holland and barret... but you can get dr to prescribe it for free

star6 · 07/08/2008 09:57

I think my baby is trying to burrow his way out through the skin on my stomach!! so active and poking things out on the right side all the time!

I burst into tears last night because upstairs neighbours were bouncing around on their new wiifit and I couldn't hear grand designs - which was beautiful self-sustainable house in Cambridge, a real labour of love and I wanted to live there and not in a 2 bed 2nd floor terraced flat in London....oh, and was feeling rubbish cos DH had once again left three days worth os socks and t-shirts over the living room and my brother hadn't washed up the night before

DH came home to find me in a puddle on the floor, dinner on the edge of burning and he was an angel...good man, felt silly afterwards but he gets brownie points for good reaction to hormonal wife

ajm200 · 07/08/2008 11:15

Can I join you pls? I'm a newbie on MN

Expecting my 2nd child 23rd Oct, a girl. We are in Camberley, Surrey

twinklytoes · 07/08/2008 11:58

welcome ajm. are you delivering at frimley park too? theres a few here who already are. not me - but know the area. I'm on no3 and due to deliver around 13th oct.

ajm200 · 07/08/2008 12:29

Hi Twinklytoes,

I'm hoping to have this one at home. I had a homebirth planned with DS1 but it all went wrong at the last minute and I ended up at Frimley Park so I'm not getting too worked up about it this time round.

rosebury · 07/08/2008 15:46

Afternoon ladies welcome to newbies.

A supply of pain killers for the afterpains is essential for me my Gp or midwife will get me a prescription for strong pain killers to cope with the afterpains which tend to be worse the more pregnancies you have the pains are from the womb contracting back down after birth and mine were most severe when bfeeding I think that they only last for a few days.

Almost 32wks now heartburn terrible at the moment and feeling very hot especially at night, I have no energy to walk anywhere and feel totally exhausted if I do anything so goodness knows how you ladies are coping who are still working.

take care everyone bye for now.

ajm200 · 07/08/2008 16:28

a supply of arnica is good too as it helps your body to recover from the bruised and battered feeling. Raspberry leaf tea is good too as it helps the womb to contract during birth and afterwards. Witch hazel of a sanitary pad also helps to cool and soothe.

I was really lucky, didn't get any afterpains but I would second the idea of having some painkillers handy as you may feel very tender especially if you have a tear.

sorry for the double post, toddler got at the keyboard

perkypopsy · 07/08/2008 16:46

Has taken me 4 days to read through all the posts!!! Need to go home but had to quickly catch up and say Hi ((((pops waving at everyone is a slightly sweaty swollen way emoticon))))))

Loving the lists - keep em coming - I am a total novice and very very happy to be learning from you all...too much on here about pads/creams/pain killers...are you telling me this birthing lark isn't going to be all soft focus sweet smelling loveliness???

Not sure if mini pops is breech or not - defo lying vertically down my right side most of the time though still think he/she swings sideways when I'm in bed cos I get little tickles either side of my bump.

I'm a little bit anaemic too - have had dizzy spells and palpitations from the word go but dozy midwife has never linked them - honestly you learn more from MN than the medics don't you!!

ronny really looking forward to that first poo - I know you put that info on there to stop me from calling you up as my unofficial Doula from the loo for advice on world falling out of bottom problems

perkypopsy · 07/08/2008 16:47

amj witch hazel ON the pad? bloody hell sounds sore??

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/08/2008 17:05

Welcome ajm .

Popsy - my first poo after dd didn't hurt at all. M/w asked if I'd had one yet when she did her first home visit, and seemed to be expecting me to say no, but I think I'd had 2 already by then. Had one in labour too - said 'that really felt like having a poo' to which dh replied 'that's cause you did' . Midwives well used to it though, and didn't bat at eyelid.

Stings for a second but is very cooling and really helps with the bruising.. much cheaper than the specially designed gel packs that you keep in the freezer.

If you do end up with cuts and grazes down there, peeing can really sting. Sitting on the loo facing the cistern and leaning forward helps.. sounds mad but a MW suggested both of these and they do work.

star6 · 07/08/2008 18:01

oh this is going to be so much fun!! I just can't wait to give birth

snowymum · 07/08/2008 18:58

Star6, mine is all elbows and poking today too! it looks like there's a huge dinosaur jawbone in there or something - very weird!

maybe i am having dinobaby.

caramelbunny I have put on nearly 2 stone and i am 30 weeks , i thought i was doing quite well because last time i put on nearly 4 stone by the end, some people just carry different, i managed to loose all my weight really quickly so i'm not worrying.

i used babedas in the bath after giving birth last time it really help and smells good too.

been feeling uncomfortable all day today, not comfy standing, walking or sitting, don't think work would be too happy if i start laying down though so just have to keep changing positions.

Have a good evening all of you

Lozza70 · 07/08/2008 20:17

Sitting with my cankles up in the air. My left ankle seems to swell up everytime I have a really hectic day at work, at least it is a signal to head home and take it easy.

On the subject of wriggling babies I had a right one here last night. For the first time I could really feel a foot or something and I was getting some push back when I was rubbing my bump. Even DH felt it and usually the baby goes really quiet when DH touches my bump. It was cute beyond words!
