my baby used to go all quiet when dh touched it too!!! We were convinced that he had some sort of calming power and were looking forward to his magic hands once the baby is born... but in the past week, baby has started to react to dh's hands, too... wriggling/kicking/squirming! So that plan is out the window now

evening ladies, my net was down last night so got so much to catch up on!

having problems uploading pics on my profile! want to get a bump pic on of me in my hideousness blooming glory

emkay i hated TENS machine,it just irritated me with that little buzzing feeling! took it off after a while.

welcome Beaufies and ajm200

great tips on what to take to the hospital. i did not use half the stuff i took! at least i have a smart bag this time instead of carrier bags!

accesserise i saw a mini jogger buggy, have you seen them? look them up on net as they are narrower than normal double joggers, reasonably priced too.

went to job centre today and the fuy there was pretty certain i would not be entitled to the sure maternity grant! apparantly you only get it if your working/family tax credits are higher thn normal due to disability! has anyone else had this problem? has anyone managed to get the grant? i think it is terrible saying that everyone is entitled but if you read the fine print...........

Smudgey i did not like phil and teds to start with either but it is the only one that suits me! only 10 kg so lightweight, easily manoeverable, will fit through my front door and Jane Norman!

bought my raspberry leaf capsules today, says on pack that should not take before 30 weeks.

ajm200 my ds also has an obsession with my laptop, to the point i cant use when he is around as he loves tapping on the keys and also switching the power off in mid sentence!

so much to catch up on..........

Lozza70 · 07/08/2008 21:45

Have put a pic of my bump on my profile now but it was at about 20 weeks and I looked huge, must have been the camera angle Have got much bigger than that now, obviously!!

bethoo · 07/08/2008 21:47

nice bump Lozza

i have managed to upload a pic of Hayden and my bump!

star6 · 07/08/2008 21:52

omg bethoo.... you're wearing heels??? wow... The only pair of shoes I've managed to feel comfortable in for a couple of months now are slip on flat shoes! Good for you!!

Lozza70 · 07/08/2008 21:53

You are tiny Bethoo Your DS is a cutie.

I saw a 6 month old today... I couldn't believe how tiny he was!! I can't believe that the baby inside of me is smaller than that! I can't believe they are going to let me take something that small home with me and let dh and I take sole responsiblity for it! I think it's all starting to hit me now...

bethoo · 07/08/2008 21:57

thanks Lozza i always get people commenting on his looks, jsut today someone said what a beautiful baby, i must admit he is and i thought he was ugly on the scan! he looked like a big pair of lips on a little face!

star i must admit i usually wear trainers but was wearing a skirt for the first time in ages!

bought a glorgeous skirt today on sale, size 8, jsut hope i can fit it next summer (if not preggers again!!) it is my incentive to eat well once get appetite back to normal! if only i could hang it on the fridge!

bethoo · 07/08/2008 22:00

star i was the same! i stayed for 3 days after having Hayden due ot his low blood sugar and i was like ''where is the button'' when i got home a no longer had a mw nearby! it was daunting. i was scared to bath him so was happy for dp and his mother to do all that stuff!

thanks myjobismum i think alot of my weight gain is hiding under the skirt and on my face! looking very round now and cheek bones have gone! i was on the bony side after having ds i must admit, all ribs and hip bones!

star6 · 07/08/2008 22:00

ok, bethoo, now not feeling so lazy anymore
I go back to work next wednesday... (teaching) the kiddos come back the following Thursday, but luckily, I get to wear trainers as much as I want since the kids are young and I'm doing lots of moving around, up and down...etc. It's been LOVELY having the past 8 weeks off, though

myjob - I teach at a private international school in surrey.

star6 · 07/08/2008 22:11

so that means that everything is different - as mentioned before... maternity leave allowance is much different (worse!!), term dates are different (BETTER!) but some holidays are the same, some different...

bethoo · 07/08/2008 22:21

baby jogger city mini - is a double which is less than 30 inches wide, check it on net accessorize

star6 · 07/08/2008 22:24

bethoo how are things with the dp?

ajm200 · 07/08/2008 22:26

star6, If you think a 6 month old is small imagine being able to swaddle your newborn in a baby muslin. The sort you see mums use as burping cloths.

My first LO wasn't a small baby, over 8lb but we swaddled him in a baby muslin for the first two weeks

star6 · 07/08/2008 22:29

I just ran to get a muslin from the package in the closet!! WOW...
Just can't imagine!

bethoo · 07/08/2008 22:45

star6 well we are not together at the mo as he has agreed to give me space which i am loving! still getting text saying how he does not want to lose me and will wait for me. he does love me but sadly at this stage in my life i dont feel the same way anymore!

just looked on ebay and even the original phil and teds doubles are selling at £300 second hand! i am screwed if cant get this grant as depending on it for my new double!

accessorizequeen · 07/08/2008 23:39

bethoo, thanks, had seen the mini jogger, just was hoping for something with air tyres really but it does seem quite a good one. Often p&t's sell for less on mumsnet, have you tried the classifieds? Glad things with dp working out for you

star, pity they don't give you an instruction manual before the baby comes out . I remember dp & i standing over the mw at the hospital whilst she showed us how to bath ds1, we were so anxious! I left it to dp for years after that actually (he still does nearly all of it). I so wish I had been part of an AN group on mumsnet first time round, makes a huge difference.

star6 · 08/08/2008 07:20

bethoo - Good for you! Happy to hear that. You're very strong to recognize your own feelings and keep your space and not let the pregnancy hormones interfere

accessorize - we have shelves of books about babies... dh and I are both like that - when we need to know about something we read as much as we can. He remembers every detail, absorbs everything - he knows more about breastfeeding than I do at this point!! scary! But the bath... well, despite everyone saying it will be fine, I'm scared out of my haed... slippery little tiny baby!!

star6 · 08/08/2008 07:22

accessorize - meant to say those books must be our "instruction manuals" Doubtful they will be of much use at 3am when we can't figure out why baby is crying though..
I like the idea of your dh taking over that job of bathing. I think I'll hand it over to mine as well!

07mumstheword · 08/08/2008 08:28

Just catching up on last nights chat and feel all warm and glowey if you know what I mean.

Star6 When I got home after 6 days in hospital with DD I walked through the front door and cried DH asked what was wrong and I said what if we can't do it, what if I get it wrong! Before I knew it we had family over and we just got on with it.

Baths too, we had visitors over a couple of days after we were home and DD did a massive poo which meant a bath was necessary immediately! Trying with all my post pregnancy brain to remember all the MW's instructions were we did it in the kitchen sink.

There is a white plastic baby holder that you sucker onto a bath and it suitable from birth so baby can sit in completely safely and that was one of our best buys. We got ours from John Lewis.

Bethoo You still look slim to me Really pleased you are happy in yourself with current situation with DP.

Morning to everyone else.

perkypopsy · 08/08/2008 09:04

Bethoo are you in heels ready to take the dog for a walk??? You rock!
I have been in my Birkies for months...ummm actually probably the entire PG
Had a shitty day yesterday - am thinking of trying to finish work week 37...4 weeks time as seems easier to aim for than 5 weeks - am just not as able as I was - and I get all teary and grumpy - think I need to get some muslins out and remember why I am going through this .
Loving the bump pics - don't have many - keep trying to get DH to take some but I look foul in all of them
Thanks for the weeing info - am trying to imagine straddling the toilet backwards - will be a lot easier without the bump!
