Hey Girls,

Had MW appointment last week only measuring 26cm at 28wks but MW didn't seem concerned, she never mentioned if the baby was breech or not so i'm assuming not? Iron ok so don't need iron tablets this time round. Really suffering with bad piles which i didn't get with DS.

I will definately be buying DS a present from the baby just not sure what.

Haven't bought anything except nappies, breast pads and disposable pants??? Lovely.

Just having the babies bedroom decorated this week so should be geting the baby stuff down from the loft. I really need to get organised but don't seem to have the time. Only 3 weeks left at work so hopefully get things sorted then.

jenwa · 06/08/2008 14:51

I wont take rasberry leaf tea as did last time and am convinced it brought things on when they were not ready (even though a week late) as satarted having regular contractions on the Tues and dd was born the sat eve!! I will let this one come when its ready or opt for the c-sect!!!!!
I could be wrong and it could just be that i had a slow labour.

beaufies · 06/08/2008 15:16

Hello ladies

I'm new to this thread but am due 27 Oct, but booked in for a section on 17 Oct at Frimley Park.

This is my first, and it's a boy

ronshar · 06/08/2008 15:54

At last what kept you Beaufies. Welcome. A boy excellent. Are you all prepared or are you only just accepting the inevitable?

4andnotout · 06/08/2008 16:07

Hi everyone
I saw my consultant yesterday who said that baby is breech at the moment but has plenty of time to turn, he also thinks that she will be bigger than dd3 was (8lb 11 oz) Having bloods taken tommorow, gtt on friday and then another scan on the 26th, will be a busy month!

caramelbunny · 06/08/2008 16:21

Get really upset when everyone talks about weight gain or lack of it. I've put on just over 2 stone and am 29 weeks now.

rach010 I measured 27cm at 28 weeks and that put me exactly on 50th centile line but it's not meant to be a very accurate measurement.

Anyone got a Jane Powertwin buggy? Been doing my research and wondered if anyone's had any problems with them?

Welcome beaufies.

beaufies · 06/08/2008 17:00

I haven't ventured far outside of the 'pregnancy' forums hence only just discovering you were here.

I am absolutely hating being pregnant. I'm just not cut out for it I think. Feeling particularly cheesed off as I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes yesterday. I won't bore you with all the details as I'm saving it all for the GD thread but I'm just trying to get over the shock.

We are pretty well prepared with most essentials and just a few last bits and pieces to get but wanting it all over as soon as possible already !

Hope to be in a more positive frame of mind soon

hansnava · 06/08/2008 18:06

hi ladies
well ive had a rubbish couple of days. yesterday i took my driving test for the third time and failed on my turn in the rd because he said i could have done it in three turns and i took 5 even though i didnt hit the curb i looked around all the time and i did it safely. that was all i did wrong on the whole test.(angry)
then today on the way to shops i went to post office to get some money out as i had none on me, then went to get dinner for tonighgt from the shops, went to checkout to pay only to be told the £20 note i gave them was fake and she then went on to shout across the shop that they needed the supervisor as quick as poss as ive just given them fake money(blush)
i paid with some more money they gave me the fake and told me to take it back to post office and get it sorted, which i did only for the lady behind the counter change the money over all the while calling me a liar and it hadnt come from them.(angry) (angry) (angry)

and how r u all? lol

loulou33 · 06/08/2008 18:09

Anwoo - yeah i didn't think about the nut allergy bit either!!! for peanut butter sandwiches - haven't had them for months [loulou dribbles on keyboard]

Bethoo - Sorry you're dp is such a b***d but well done for standing up to him.

Got all the baby gear out of the loft today so i have some serious sorting to do and dh has been taking down walls in baby's room to re-do insulation so let's hope the baby stays where it is until he's finished!!

Went to gp today for 32 week check - baby no longer breech, yipee and all is well. Groin strain much better today thank god butlike you Kookie , if i wake in the night [dh snoring or muttering in sleep usually] baby does the argentinian tango for 30 mins and then i'm wide awake for ages.... oh moan moan moan

see ya later

rowanmac · 06/08/2008 19:04

hi
Had a trip to town yesterday to try and buy everything I could need in next 2 months before I fall apart completely, mainly DS birthday present. Was in Mothercare trying not to laugh at couple with obviously 1st baby bump in deep discussion about every last piece of matching kit. (Apologies to 1st timers, don't believe the hype)What a cynic I have become in 3 years. Total purchases for new baby are new bathmat and bottle brush as mould levels on old ones prob unacceptable for newbie, 1 pack neutral sleepsuits, 1 pack nappies, a brush and comb set and new wheels for pram as brakes no longer work as v worn down (anyone else finding mountain buggy UK hugely inefficient?)

suggestions for hospital bag: even though it'll be Sept/Oct assume tropical temperatures. Nightshirts, old knickers (lots) sanitary pads (lots), food as you'll be starving afterwards I took glucose tablets and cereal bars esp if breastfeeding, nursing bras and lots of pads. Camera and spare batteries, we had new camera last time. Instructions suggested taking a few shots of an unimportant subject 1st. Our first picture was DS at 30mins! Batteries ran out v quick so taking 2 sets this time. Also consider a book it may be the last time you get any peace to read for a while!

Hadn't thought of present from baby for DS, will consider.

sympathy to all with heartburn, leg cramps, backache and especially GD.

Lozza70 · 06/08/2008 19:06

Hi everyone. Another hot and humid day on the tube today, cue perspiring preg lady with fan scaring the hell out of the rest of the passangers Not sure how much weight I have put on as I don't weigh myself but I'm definately looking very preg now, 31 weeks tomorrow. At my AN checkup last week they said not to worry which way up the baby was until the 36 week check We shall see I suppose. Getting definate kicks in the ribs in the last few days and having to fight back.....or at least a few taps to sort it out!!

snowymum · 06/08/2008 19:21

Hello all. Bit of a cheeky question here - does anyone have the mongan rainbow relaxation and birth affirmations cd that they'd like to sell me? I was all booked up on the course, and had arrnged it by email, but had a phone call with the trainer and she was like a boot camp sergeant! I cancelled immediately - I just know I would have been anything but relaxed with her.

But I am enjoying the book plus CD and want the other cd too, but can't find it for sale anywhere. Anyone? Will pay handsomely!

Ekka · 06/08/2008 19:35

Hi beaufies - you must live in the same area as me then. We've had one home birth and planning our second, but would also be frimley park should things not go to plan! Poor you with GD, one of my friends has had that with both her pregnancies and it sounds really rough.... And I have to admit this weather doesn't help things, I hate hot humid nights.

Going back to some earlier comments, the only things I remember about birth etc that I wished someone had told me were the shock of looking at your stomach after giving birth (DON'T DO IT!!! The nice firm bump has gone and been replaced by jelly belly) and the amount you bleed in the 48hrs after the birth - we actually called the midwife back at 3am as I was worried at how much blood I appeared to be losing . That poor woman....

Still no decisions here on double buggies. Thats really all we need to buy but I just can't decide. Anyone know anything about either this buggy , this buggy or this buggy ? Dh likes the phil & teds but I just can't quite accept dc2 being so low down....

hedgepig · 06/08/2008 19:38

Lozza when do you start Mat Leave? even the idea of the tube makes me want to faint.
Rowan I had to smile at you description of 1st time parents. I think I am gong a bit mad last time I refused toe be "taken in by all this commercial nonsense" so I bought second had had nothing matching etc. This time I keep eyeing up matching sets and I am coveting pretty cots (even thought I have one) new buggies (even though i have one of these too). I haven't actually bought anything yet though, so hopefully I will get over it.

Also I am feeling really emotional and keep sobbing for no reason what so ever, anyone else getting this???

Hi beaufies another Frimley Park -er here, you'll be going to the monday afternoon GD clinic then! Not there yet myself but it's only a matter of time I fear.
The DS's are driving me up the wall in this weather, not dry enough to go out anywhere interesting for the day, so cooped up at home or a quick trip to the park/duck feeding etc. I seem to have no energy or enthusiasm to do anything more.

rowanmac · 06/08/2008 20:36

Me again, usually only get onto Mumsnet once a week but I can't put off doing the tax return any longer, I've done everything else and its raining. So I'm surfing Mumsnet much more fun.

hedgepig I get moments of madness when I want the lovely matching stuff but I'm stowed out with kit so cannot justify it as for bursting into tears, DS was most concerned on Monday and has taken to rubbing my back as he knows its sore, the hope being of course that i will get better immediately and back on the floor to play cars! Unfortunatly my lovely little boy just set me off again by being so sweet!

The good news here ( I always moan on this thread, must try harder) is that I'm now being kicked in the ribs not the bladder so I hope that means bean has turned and i am a normal size, by this time (29wk)with DS I was 40 week size and on strict rest, hence pelvic collapse this time.

i have 2 more weeks to work, ie 6 days and cannot wait for it to end as I just can't function at the level I need to to get through my workload. How on earth you cope with the Tube Lozza I do not know.

Lozza70 · 06/08/2008 20:42

HedgepigI have another 7 weeks at work if all goes according to plan. Not loving the tube at all although I am now asking for seat, and getting it

Not buying a lot as have been given loads of stuff already but plan to start buying v. v. soon!

Ekka · 06/08/2008 20:49

Hmmmm.... Seems that Frimley park is going to be pretty busy! One of my friends from dd's ante-natal class is due end of August and another in October, plus us three!

I don't know how anyone can manage the tube in this heat when pg. DD was born in June 07 so I never had that issue. This time round I'm finding I'm far more sensitive to heat than I was last time, so I'm really glad I'm not commuting into work at the moment!

I seem to be developing heartburn so may have to stock up on Gaviscon soon. But other than that and the tiredness I seem to have got off pretty lightly so far. Oh, I was browsing double buggies again (something that I've become somewhat obsessed with at the moment) and found this cheapest you can buy it is nearly £600 . Think I might show it to dh just for the amusement of seeing his face . Somehow I don't think I'm taking this seriously enough.... DC2 is going to end up being popped in the shopping basket of our silver cross if I don't get my act together

emkay · 06/08/2008 21:00

RE: things I was glad I had for birth last time... bendy straws! I had some small juice cartons with the bendy straws and they were invaluable for being able to drink water from a cup and keep my fluids up. I had contractions very close together throughout - none of that nice massaging between contractions for me! - and wouldn't have been able to hold a cup steady to drink from it.

Also had glucose tablets and they were great.

TENS machine was great - whether just because it gave me something to do and feel I could control or because it actually relieved the pain. However, watch out for the electrode pads slipping off a sweaty back... We were in the full drama of it all, I was on the loo, DP heroically supporting me there (he's normally shy about farting in the same room!) and as I go to wipe my bum I get a sharp pain somewhere entirely new. It takes me a while to work out that the pad has slipped off my back and wrapped itself around my finger! DP then electrocutes himself trying to unwrap it - his most painful experience of the night! How lovely to be able to share these things!

Can't remember what I wanted to comment on now, so will have to skim read again later!

Beaufies - why a planned c-section? Hope you don't mind me being nosey, but it seems unusual for a first baby.

Whoever asked, I've always found Mountain Buggy UK to be great, but I haven't ordered anything for a while.

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/08/2008 21:04

Oh, while I think of it, for the birth, freeze a big bottle of water beforehand, and get it out when you go into hospital. It will gradually melt and give you cold water throughout for drinking.

Ekka, I looked at a nipper the other day, it was absolutely fab! Pity it doesn't fit through my front door It was soooo easy to push and manoevre, seats looked really comfy, good handle & it's one of the lightest twins out there at 9kg. DP & I were both really keen but it's 1cm too wide for our doorway.

accessorizequeen · 06/08/2008 21:14

I saw the Cerox at the same shop, very nice also but have you seen how wide it is??? I can't think it would fit through many doorways where I live. The MB double is top of my list at the moment, but I have the single already so am sold on it for the dt's. Nipper is much lighter and cheaper.
