Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ronshar · 29/08/2008 11:21

Sambrads. Not one person onhere will think that ou putting the welfare of your family first is a bad thing. I am sure that if all my family were sick the last thing I would want to do is bring an innocent clean baby into it. I do hope they all recover soon for you so you can gather your strength for the new baby.

My DD2 was sick last night. 3am and I am running down the hall way holding my hand over her mouth so she didnt get sick on the new carpet. Not because I am precious but because I really didnt want to clean it up. Now does that make me a bad mother?
I had a bad day yesterday all round. I was horrible to DD's. I wouldnt let them go swimming because I was in too much pain from hips/back/tummy. Then I saw the house down the road from us which has been on the market for 6 days had a sold sign. We have been on for 5months with same agent. I went to DH work and shouted and to my shame cryed. Rubbish. I never cry! It did something as we seem to have a viewing now on Sat morning.

I think all MW assume that you will have the Synto injection in your thigh unless you tell them not to give it to you. I may be wrong as there is such a thing as informed consent

ajm200 · 29/08/2008 12:46

I know it is hard to do but try to take it easy if you can and just do what is essential and leave the rest for now.

The pains might just be BH brought on by dehydration as you've been so poorly. We are all reaching the stage where babies might drop anyway so don't stress too much about it.

I hope the rest of your family recover soon.

I've been ill since July, not kept much food down, fainted, back and forth to DR and MW weekly and DH had to go on business trip in the middle of it, leaving me with a toddler to cope with. My friends were all brilliant. Family support comprised of 2 min calls to ask if I was alright and no offer of help regardless of the answer I gave. They do say you can't pick your family. They'll all come running uninvited when baby arrives though and expect to be waited on...

ajm200 · 29/08/2008 12:49

A couple of weeks ago DS (21 months) had an upset tummy and was sick in his potty or as close as he could get to it each time..

I guess he got the idea from watching me run to the loo up to 10x per day throughout the summer to be sick in the 'big potty'

Bless him.

SmudgeyDoodle · 29/08/2008 13:04

Bigmouth that's crap. You fight them for it (even if you don't even want an ipod really!)
Loulou that sounds quite soon and I think the prize for being first should involve champagne rather than wine. Also pate, blue cheese, runny eggs and all the other things that you're not really meant to eat when pregnant.
CSWS dentist was fine. How about you? She reckons that all my teeth are ok but I'm not sure I believe her. DS just screamed the whole time because he doesn't like people messing with his mummy. They took my word for it that he's got 8 teeth and 2 coming through at the back. He did get 2 Thomas stickers though which he was quite pleased with.
Star6 when your DH has finished at yours, can you send him this way? It's all I can do at the moment to keep on top of the washing up and the laundry. Rest of house a state but I can't motivate myself to do anything about it.
Star I can sense your panic about baby's not growing from the talk about placentas. This is why they scan you and keep an eye on you (I'm sure Emmsy is a very rare case) Please don't panic. Sambrads I do hope you get better soon and that DS doesn't have to go into hospital. like ajm says, you're probably feeling pains etc because you'll be exhausted and dehydrated. Take all the help on offer and blatantly ask if it's not offered (easier said than done I know). Ajm bless your LO throwing up in potty. That's one to put in his baby book!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 29/08/2008 13:09

hi girls - flipping eck the thought of one of our babies being here in two weeks is a bit scary considering I still have a teenage brother camping out in our nursery!

Sambrands glad you're starting to feel better again, lots of ohhmmss that your baby waits for you all to get better before maming an appearance

ajm that's adorable of your son!

ok so am I the only one not getting braxton hicks? is it ridiculous to whinge about not getting them when others are suffering from them? i've not had leaky boobs yet either...funny the things I find to worry about!

Sallypuss · 29/08/2008 13:56

ajm200 lol at DS - bless him!

sambrads glad to hear that you're on the mend and wishing the family a speedy recovery and that LO stays put a while longer.

GWMH - I'm with you on the braxton hicks - not a one...yet...seem to have escaped the leaky boobs too that said, I do have another 7 weeks and 6 days to go (I finish work 5 weeks today - yeah!).

Myjobismum, have you tried taking the tablets before bed. They normally make me sick too and I'm sure they were the cause of my nausea with DS.

This time round I take them at bedtime and don't have nausea. I am ill and sick a lot but that is unrelated.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 29/08/2008 16:18

ohgodohgodohgod....scottish power have just announced gas price hikes of 35% as of Monday - why oh why am I such an idiot, I looked into all the best capped rates months ago and just never got round to changing...my baby is going to freeze!!

ajm200 · 29/08/2008 16:30

It is scary how much everything is going up isn't it. Our power bills went up a few weeks ago and now OH is moaning about the shopping going over budget despite DS being potty trained and not using nappies and me hardly eating a thing as I've been ill.

Two months ago, I was regularly managing to save 50-100 pounds of the shopping money towards baby stuff and DS's new furniture..

I'll have to go back to work at this rate.

rosebury · 29/08/2008 20:42

Evening ladies not been on for a couple of days and so need to read up on a few pages cannot believe how fast this thread moves.

Saw mw yesterday all is well almost 35wks now and we think that the head is down now thank goodness, she will visit me at home in 2wks time and drop off the homebirth bag of bits this is becoming very real now I really feel that I am having a baby very soon now.

Bhs can come quite regular and strong but they are different to the real thing but I have had five children and therefore I am well practised so should know the difference by now.

Is it accessorize that is having twins and has anyone heard from her recently?

pepperrabbit · 29/08/2008 22:51

Evening all, just had to read 3 pages and I only missed yesterday!!!
Sambrads, glad you are better and hope DS recovers soon, it's so miserable when you're feeling poorly yourself as well.
loulou - my goodness! 10th sept is scarily close and makes it all seem rather real..
I finished work yesterday, which was surprisingly upsetting actually! I do like my job but the commuting was gwtting to be too much - I didn't even get a seat on the tube yesterday morning - you feel like shouting "are you all blind???? look at the size of me!!!!" but that's not quite the done thing in Canary Wharf. Miserable buggers.
Anyway, had the day today with DH and the boys were at nursery as usual so we went shopping, and bought lots of boring baby stuff like nappies, when I really wanted to get cute things that we don't really need! I did rather wish we knew if it was a boy or a girl cos I could have brought it a new outfit in blue/pink.
But we had a lovely lunch together which we hardly ever get to do alone so that was great. And of course DH carried all the bags all day so a top result.
Hope everyone's well this evening

star6 · 30/08/2008 08:19

Hi there
OK I've been wondering about this for a while, tried to look it up... I just don't get it. What is the pelvic floor and HOW do you exercise it to get it all conditioned for the birth? I'm 34 weeks tomorrow... is it to late?????

star6 · 30/08/2008 08:32

that should read, "too late"... not 'to late' sorry.

sambrads · 30/08/2008 08:36

hi star6 pelvic floor muscles are what you hold if you nedd to go for a pee .
you should be hoding these muscles for 10 second then doing quick pulses for 20 seconds .
i done them with ds but not as good this time hope this helps

ds managed to keep food and fluids down yesterday but was sick at 1 oclock this morning all over his again so back to the hospital they did not keep him him but just said that it could take up to 3 weeks for his stomach to be back to normal !!!!

its going to be hard wrk as it seems he is only sick at night but hopefully he will get over this soon .

has anyone been induced then went into labour themselves??

my freind says that she could cope with being induced but when she went into labour herself it was awful!!
i want to have a natuaral birth the same as ds but she said i will not coe has anyone any advice????

star6 · 30/08/2008 08:50

Sambrads - poor ds! I hope you and he can relax at home this weekend as much as possible.

Thanks pelvic floor seems easy. So you just do that every time you need to go for a pee then? I'll start today.

star6 · 30/08/2008 08:59

oh and no advice re: labour. Still resting all of my hope in available anaesthesiologist to give epidural upon my arrival to hospital. I get 1 or 2 BH each day now and afterward baby does something... who knows what, that causes a bit of pain down below and the pain is every time. Knowing that it's going to get 100X worse scares me silly!!

sambrads · 30/08/2008 09:06

no you do it everyday or every other day whenever you remember not just when you need to pee .

i said its easy to find them as they are the muscles you hold if you need a pee haha

as for epidural i dont think its good to get it to soon as as it will slow labour i have not had one before but i think thts what mw told me when i inquired about them when pregnant with ds .

i know its easy to say but just try and relax and just rememember each pain will bring you closer to meeting your baby

sambrads · 30/08/2008 09:17

was just having a look at the september thread and came across a very cheeky lady slagging off our thread!!!!!!!

so glad i stayed on this thread

go to the thread its on page 16 you will see it and i will let you judge for yourselves if you think its cheeky

star6 · 30/08/2008 09:49

oh, cheeky!!
This IS the final countdown!!

ajm200 · 30/08/2008 09:59

There was a thread a few days ago on induction. Lots of people have really easy inductions and the labour is fairly normal.

I had an early induction that took 5 days to get labour started and had to be hooked up to a drip in the end. I guess I made DS to comfy in there. It was quite intense so I had an EPI but it was fast.

Lots of the other mums on the same ward were induced, moved to L&D within a couple of hours and had their babies the same day.

ajm200 · 30/08/2008 10:02

Strange your friend thinks inductions are easier. The artifical hormones can make the contractions very strong immediately whereas they build up gently in natural labour. Your body can release natural pain killers if the labour builds up gently.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/08/2008 14:43

I don't view in 'pages' sambrads - can you tell me date and time of post?

star - you should be doing about 100 pelvic floor exercises every day, but not when you are having a wee, as it can stop you from emptying your bladder properly and cause infection.

OP posts:
misdee · 30/08/2008 14:45

? CSWS are you at hospital monday? i am there early again, must get your number as this could be the last time isee you at clinic.

star6 · 30/08/2008 14:49

thanks csws! I have done it already 5 times today when feeling the urge to wee... well, between that and not doing them until 34 weeks, I'm off to a fantastic start!
Will do it properly from this moment on.

oh everythign here looking so tidy and organized. Feeling so great! I LOVE clean, tidy places. Nothing is more relaxing...
