Bigmouth Does it state a date on the letter then? If it is their error then you should make them give you an ipod!!!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 28/08/2008 20:52

07 - It says the date in tiny print on back of order form - everywhere else in large print it says 'call now' to be in with a chance - I called in good faith the person on the phone should have told me the comp had not started, but no he said I had won.

I maintain it is their mistake and I am not the only one who has been shafted.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/08/2008 20:57

Ah bigmouth - you've just reminded me about Tens machines. Was planning on borrowing one from my neighbour, but saw her today for the first time in weeks and she's moving next weekend . Am gutted as her ds is just a couple of months older than dd, and she is expecting dc2 6 weeks after me. We live in the middle of nowhere (just 6 cottages surrounded by farmland) so there are no other local children for dd (and ds) to play with. But anyway, I digress. She doesn't even know who has her tens machine at the moment, so looks like I will need to hire one. How much to Tesco charge, and when do you get it/for how long?

07mumstheword · 28/08/2008 21:01

Bigmouth Small print If you were told by a member of staff then you should get one! Don't a lot of these companies record calls for quality/training purposes? They would be able to hear what you were told and you should get one!!!! Good luck.

star6 · 28/08/2008 21:05

bigmouth you should ring them back right now and get it. Their mistake!!! NOT YOURS! Thats SO not ok. They said you won... you won. They can't take it back like that!!

star6 · 28/08/2008 21:08

DH just told me that he's finished most of the paint "touch ups" and other DIY and that our flat is ready for the "big clean" tomorrow (which he will do while I'm at work since his school hasn't started yet)... but... I clean/hoover/wash dishes/tidy up every single day!! In fact I'm admittedly neurotic about cleanliness and tidiness... SO... What's the "big clean"???? I just can't wait to go to work so I can come home tomorrow and see!!!

star6 · 28/08/2008 21:09

ohhhhh I'll bet I know! I bet I will find his clothes from today IN THE LAUNDRY BASKET when I get home! That MUST be it!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 28/08/2008 21:14

CSWS - Tesco charge £25ish (I will pay on collection) You can have them from 37 weeks till 4 weeks post due date. I used a tesco one last time and it was fine nicer than the hospital one I had for ds (newer) - you do need to have a clubcard though.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/08/2008 21:18

lol star.

Clubcard not a problem - I worked at head office for years so haven't lost all loyalty!

OP posts:
star6 · 28/08/2008 21:24

amazing what you can get at tesco... is there anything that you CAN'T get at tesco??

bigmouthstrikesagain · 28/08/2008 21:42

Local food?

star6 · 28/08/2008 21:45

LOL
I never do a food shop at tesco so I can't comment, but it seems like they have everything else under the sun!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/08/2008 21:53

Oh we can buy lots of 'East Anglian' potatoes/celery/cucumber etc. Not sure quite when North Herts merged with East Anglia, but it's sort of close!

Waitrose has more East Anglian stuff in though.

OP posts:
bigmouthstrikesagain · 28/08/2008 22:01

Yes but it still goes through a centralised distribution system - freight logistics you gotta love it - East Anglia to Bedfordshire via Aberdeen(or wherever)...

mum2jakeyroo · 29/08/2008 00:20

Can't sleep - getting lots of braxton hicks - at least I hope thats what they are!! It is my 3rd - you'd think I would know by now. Oh and bach ache too. Can't believe we are all so near - ds2 was born at 38+2 cos he had stopped feeding

star6 · 29/08/2008 06:14

mum2jakeyroo- stopped feeding? From the placenta? So he just decided to come out or you had to be induced?

mum2jakeyroo · 29/08/2008 07:22

yes from the placenta star. Had to be induced at 38. He was only 5lb 8. Started packing bags in early hours but can't remember what goes in. Didn't get to bed till 3. Will re think today while a bit more awake.

07mumstheword · 29/08/2008 07:41

mum2Jakeyroo I've never heard of baby stopping feeding before, how did that even get detected?
Did you get any sleep? Have the braxton hicks calmed down?

Star Your DH sounds like one in a million

Emmsy1 · 29/08/2008 08:05

mumtojakeyroomy baby stopped feeding in a sence, was told placenta stopped working properly and he started to starve, this wasn't detected but thank god he was born 2 weeks early as he only weighed 4lb 13 oz and was classed as full term, was told he wouldn't of made it if he had gone 2 40 weeks!

hedgepig · 29/08/2008 08:43

Star will you hire your hubbie out? My house is an absolute tip because we have had to clear the spare room to have the ceiling plastered which happened yesterday. So the house is full of bits of bed an orphan junk form the spare room. Nnow all we have to do to get the room ready for the LO is line and paint the walls, do the wood work, get carpet, get a wardrobe, & curtains bring all the baby stuff down from the loft sort it out & wash it and then we are ready hurrah. Loads of time I suppose.

ajm200 · 29/08/2008 08:57

Loulou My son was 8lb 4 at 37 weeks so I was quite relieved that he didn't go to 42 weeks. He'd have been an eye watering 10lber. He had no eyelashes and was a bit yellow but other than that looked full term.
We took newborn stuff and one set of 0-3. We had to use the 0-3 and DH had to bring more in the morning.

I'm sure your little one will be fine and you and your DH will be ready. All your little one needs is to be dry, clean, fed and loved.

mum2jakeyroo · 29/08/2008 09:03

My bump wasn't growing according to the graph they use - so went in to be monitored, saw a consultant and was scanned 3 times. then was induced within 24 hours.
Emmsy - probably the same thing - they told me he had stopped feeding from placenta. When I was scanned and measurements done all his measurements were around 38 weeks but his tummy was measuring 30 weeks iirc. I am a nervous wreck about this one.

ajm200 · 29/08/2008 09:05

My pains stopped after about 4 hours. Called the maternity ward and they said I didn't have to come in.

DH came home totally chilled out and reminded me that the same thing happened on and off from about 32 weeks last time and that the BHs were regular sometimes lasted over 6 hrs before stopping. We even rushed home from holiday (on MW instructions) after a full day of them only to have them stop at the hospital. I guess this is how my pregnancies go. Needed a 5 day induction to get DS out in the end.

I was amazed at how cool headed he was. Last time he went into mental meltdown at every twinge. Hope he is a calm when its for real.

ajm200 · 29/08/2008 09:13

Mum2jakeyroo - Hope your BH went off and you got some sleep. They are a nuisance aren't they. Not much fun when you have a little one who'll be up a usual time in the morning and raring to go.

sambrads · 29/08/2008 09:27

hello ladies thank you all for your kind words and support .

i am starting to feel better still have not eaten anything but i have kept fluid down .

ds has been sick again so looks like he could be going back into the hospital later today if he does not pick up .

i am mentally and physically exhausted. my dh had to go back to work and i have been left to do everything myself . my family are not being much of a support they have there own things to do without worryng about me and i think its atken this week for me to realise just how much or little should i say my family do for me and ds.

my friends ahve been offering to help out with washing cleaning and ds . it makes me value my friends so much more .

i am also feeling stressed as i have been having pains on and off and the baby has dropped alot and im afraid of her arriving now when the family is so sick as i dont think i could cope .

i hope you all dont think im awful saying that.

loulou did you say your having babay in 2 weeks wow thats amazing so excited for you!!

everyone else hope your all ok not to many pains or discomfort

bethoo my piles are bad now as im sure i have pushed them out with retching i swear what us women go through its tough
