I thought I had not recongnised baileysrtg did think a newbie!

I went and got some storage baskets today and filled them with baby clothes and put in dd's wardrobe so at least they are there ready and if the attic is done in time then thats fine but if not at least I am prepared. DD helped and packed two small baskets with hats and socks (bless her) she did a fantastic job.

Not seen Joseph but bet that was nice to see a fit bod!!!

Need to start sorting maternity/hosp bag and baby bag. Really not sure what to put in but will try remember hair brush and toithbrush this time. I am buying little things so not heavy!

hedgepig · 25/08/2008 20:38

hello everyone, just back from our hols have tried to read back through the tread but it is too long, so I hope everyone is fine and dandy. Back to work tomorrow, boo BUt only 2 weeks until I stat my maternity leave woopee
I have been stripping wall papaer today as part of my nesting at least it came off with water and I didn't need to get the steam stripper out.
sambrads I'm so glad DS was Ok and it wasn't meningitis hope you are feeling Ok now.

07mumstheword · 25/08/2008 21:05

Evening everyone I've had a lazy day today although did fit in a bit of cleaning

I'm now worrying about the fact I haven't got hospital bags ready, here I am preparing for Christmas and forgetting I will actually have to go into hospital between now and then I'm going on holiday for a wk at 34wks in Tenby in a caravan. When we booked it I thought it would be a good idea but I'm starting to worry that the baby will come early. I'm sure I'll be ok but those old irrational fears sneak up on me!

Sambrads So sorry to hear of your dreadful day and pleased all seems ok.

Star I'd forgive DH a little forgetfulness on the washing front if he was willing to re-arrange my cupboards with cleaning of course

Emmsy Hoorah another odd ball With the amount of DC you have you must be organised

CSWS Glad you had a good night at the theatre, no wonder Denise Van Outen is looking so happy at the moment.

Rowanmac That's the trouble with cleaning once you start it's never ending. I looked up at the ceilings earlier they definately need vacuming this week, why have I got so many cob webs but no sign of a spider

BlueJellie · 25/08/2008 22:40

jenwa, thanx for your comment cheered me up. I did just slob out in my pjs today, DP wanted to 'go out as it's such a nice day' but I refused to get dressed lol, am getting crabbier as the days go by!

I'm very impressed with all your nesting stories, I'm still waiting for this nesting instinct to kick in! God knows the house needs a clean & need to clear out some storage for all the baby 'stuff' that's arrived this week, but I'm SO lazy when it comes to the domestic stuff, am waiting till I get that huge I can play the pregnancy card and get DP to do it all for me. Maybe the boredom will drive me to clean when I go on mat leave? Here's hoping!

bethoo · 25/08/2008 22:55

i have unusual pain at the back of my right leg which goes all the way to my foot. should i be paraniod about it? convinced i have DVT!

bethoo · 25/08/2008 23:40

has anyone been to kiddicare as have no idea if there is one near me

star6 · 26/08/2008 06:35

bethoo I didn't realize that it was an actual shop. I thought it was only to buy online. But I'm probably wrong... I'm just a lazy shopper and buy everything online, can't be bothered with crowds, lines...etc unless I'm just window shopping. Never seen a kiddicare, but it would make sense that they have an actual shop somewhere. Hopefully someone will come along and offer directions

No advice on the pain in your leg, either... as a it of a hypochondriac myself, I would ring the midwife or gp and ask about it, just for peace of mind. I hope it's feeling better!

Emmsy1 · 26/08/2008 07:29

bethoo sounds like you have a trapped nerve, probably to do with the baby's position. When I had given birth to my first son, I was still limping in agony, MW's reassured me it was because the baby had been leaning on a nerve and that it would get better in a little time, it did! still best to get it checked though!

sambrads sorry you have been through such a scary experience. Thank god your DS is ok. Did the doctors give you an explanation for his illness, or was it put down to a viral thing!

07MTW I have both my bags packed, and have now realised that I dont have a coat/suit/jacket for the baby when I bring her/him out of hospital, would love to buy a pink one but am worried that if its a boy he would look really silly in it probably buy a white one in the next few days, just wish I could predict how cold it will be when the baby is born!

Emmsy1 · 26/08/2008 08:12

star meant to ask you, why do you need to get up at 4.00am every day?? I thought I was an early bird at 6.00am also very of your DH doing all the organising, unless he's too obsessive of course, like in that film, think it was called 'sleeping with the enemy' were the husband had to have the tins in the cupboard facing the 'right way' or the towels in the bathroom had to be in a certain position, or the poor wife was beaten! sure your DH isn't anything like that!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/08/2008 09:03

bethoo - kiddicare are mostly online, but have one store in Peterborough. Tis big and very good if you want to try out lots of pushchairs!

bethoo · 26/08/2008 09:22

oh well too far for me to travel! still umming and arring about what double buggy to get!
mind you if i dotn get materntiy grant looks like a sling will have to do!
i have no drawers for kiddy clothes so they are in wicker baskets/laundry baskets.plastic storage boxes!
i have all the clothes you got me twinkly in their catagory piles, vests and grows together in little basket and leggings and t-shirts in plastic container which fits under the cot (space saving) and little jackets and dresses etc hanging in the wardrobe!

Morning all, all OK here, very tired after overdoing it all weekend - we hosted a small party on Sat for one of my friends whose house is too small, then BBQ out all sun, then friend here with 3 kids yesterday, then sewed all name tags into DS1s new school uniform.
Today, I'm doing nothing! but have cancelled evening out with girlfriends as common sense has prevailed, and DH pointed out that with a 9am hospital appt tomorrow with the sugar police(GD clinic thing), a meal out is prob not a good idea!
DS's taking full advantage and have trashed house (I've also just realised that it's actually afternoon already...)
Anyone else started having quite serious Braxton Hicks??? Had lots last night and hoping just cos overtired.
Also (sorry if I'm boring now,,) but my MIL has presented me with 2 cork coasters... stick with me on this..... to put down the bed to "help with leg cramps". This was last wed.... once we got over DHs raised eyebrows and me trying to think of polite reasons why it wasn't worth it (there are NO contraindications for coasters down the bed curiously) but, it's worked!!! I've had nothing more than leg twinges, no hopping shrieking out of bed or anything.
Now I'll have to tell her she's right!

perkypopsy · 26/08/2008 13:31

Hi everyone, just caught up on the last page - don't have any time for checking MN at mo but only 14 days left at work yeeehaaaaaaaa

bethoo think you may have sciatica - baby pressing on main nerve that supplies your leg (runs down the back) - lies against bone in your pelvis so if baby is up against it could easily be what is causing you that pain

What baby clothes are you all taking to the hosptial? I have sleepsuits and vests/t-shirts (but how many of each?). I know I need a hat for home time too. Anything else? Also, I've got nappies but do i need to take cotton wool and sudocreme or anything....am havinga mild pannick here

bethoo · 26/08/2008 13:36

perky it may vary from hospital to hospital as at mine there were nappies and cotton wool supplied underneath the babys plastic cot. take several pairs of vests and grows as you may end up stayingthere longer than planned. i also took a cardigan and a blanket for leavignthe hosp as ds was born in feb so still cold. i bought a cute pink pram suit for dd to leave in. cant believe my only purchase so far, no i bought socks yesterday!
take sudocreme but chances are you wont need it yet.
i thought sciatica casued back pain?

bethoo · 26/08/2008 13:37

pepperrabbit i do not know if i have BH but my tummy does go rock solid. and needign the loo constantly as she must be pressing on my bladder somewhat!

07mumstheword · 26/08/2008 14:37

I'm getting braxton hicks they are really uncomfortable, so solid

I'm starting to worry the baby will come too early. I think it's because we are going on hols for a wk 34-35 wks pg.
I was in hospital with pre-eclampsia last time and I'm so scared I wont get to hospital in time I'm hoping they pick up on something so I'm there in plenty of time again. DD was born in 4 hours so this one is expected to be quicker.

hansnava · 26/08/2008 14:39

hi all,

havent been on here for ages im just soooooooo tired all the time at the minute.
it bad that its 14.35 and im still in pjs

can i ask a starnge question?
ive been hearing a clicking sound sometimes when baby moves, has ne one else had this and do they know what it is? lol its driving me mad with wonder.

hope evryones ok

sambrads - sorry u had such a crap bank holiday. hope ds and u are feeling better soon

ive done my hospital bag but no doubt i will do it a hundred times by the time it comes to actually go hospital lol.

hansnava · 26/08/2008 14:40

see so tired cant seem to spell

07mumstheword · 26/08/2008 14:44

Hansnava Can't help there as not experienced any noises. DD & I stayed in our PJ's all day the other day it felt wonderful and I saved a days worth of ironing for us both

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/08/2008 15:23

I get clicking from my pelvis sometimes when I move hansnava, but not from the baby.

popsy - I wouldn't take sudocreme, no. You only need to use it if s/he actually has a rash, not at every change.

I also wouldn't take more clothes than you think you'll need - just make sure your dh knows where they are, and he can bring more in if you need to stay in for longer than expected.

iirc I did take cotton wool last time, but can't remember if it was supplied anyway or not.

Agree that cardigan necessary.

Popsy - did you decide for definite on your hospital in the end?
