Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
loulou33 · 21/08/2008 18:38

Hi all,

Had a pretty crappy week all in all. DH's mum fell down stairs as has been bed bound ever since...feeing better today but who knows when she'll be on her feet again. Neighbours dog is barking all the time and when we mentioned that it barks particularly when they are out and sounds distressed, they started shouting and swearing at us in front of ds who was really upset, now terrifeid that they'll do something mad to us.

finally went to see consultant about vbac and he told me i had become rhesus sensitised. He kept asking me if i had had a fall or a knock ( could only think of when friend's dog jumped up at me) He said the baby had had a bleed and i was now producing antibodies which were attacking baby's red blood cells. I need to have a scan and more blood tests. I was very upset as had visions of baby having had huge bleed and being brain damaged or something. Can't have scan until monday at earliest as consultant who does them is on hols. Fortunately my local midwife rang me as she knew i would be upset and explained that the baby's blood has passed across placenta and bleed is probably very tiny. the risk are quite small for this baby but need to check if its anaemic, jaundiced or developmentally delayed. Further s* news is probably won't be able to have more children as this gets worse with each prganancy and would need fortnightly blood transfusions into placenta - yikes.

May also now have to have elective cs as may need to deliver early and can't be induced as had cs before - aaaaaahhhhhh!!!

Sorry for rant but feel shit and bank holiday weekend just means waiting around for scan although consultant is working monday so may fit me in asap

Hope you are all fairing better than me....

star6 · 21/08/2008 18:48

hey all... got my matb1 form today. Went all the way to the hospital for growth scan and they said they didn't have the facilities (after I waited TWO HOURS - they put my notes in the wrong box!!!!!!) and had me see a consultant, who did the same thing the midwife did with the tape measurer and measured me the same... 29 weeks when I am 32 weeks. My iron levels were very low but he just gave me yet another prescription for iron tablets.

Then he scheduled me for another appointment where I would be guaranteed the scan. Said I should have it "urgently" and have booked me in for first avail. appointment for next wednesday afternoon. SO angry because first day of school with my 5-7 year olds and had to jet out of there like crazy to get to hospital appointment on time and had to wait 2 hours still and not even have the scan!!

Trying not to worry, like you have all said, but I'm SO TIRED and annoyed of getting comments from people "oh, you don't look 32 weeks at all!! You look SO SMALL!" and then I have to fight to hold back tears because it just scares me again... my baby has grown 2 cm in 5 weeks - 2 weeks worth in weeks!!! What if my placenta is malfunctioning? I know you all said it's common and it's probably all fine, but just wondering, if there IS a problem with the placenta or something, then how long can the baby survive in there? I don't want to risk his life by waiting for a scan to find out. I know I sound like a crazy person... maybe I'll post it on the pregnancy thread.

Emmsy1 · 21/08/2008 19:03

loulou you poor thing, you really are having a crappy time of it lately sorry your MIL has had a fall, hope she recovers soon, don't know much about what your going through regarding rhesus sensitive, but I'm glad the MW has said there isn't much risk to the baby, hang on in there hun,I really hope all will be ok, can understand why your so worried, try and stay calm and don't worry about your lowlife neighbours, you have enough on your plate, best to get your self sorted for now, you can deal with them through the appropriate channels at a later date xx
myjob lovely bump! think mine is about the same size or could be a bit bigger the only difference being, the rest of me is bloated and you still look slim!

Emmsy1 · 21/08/2008 19:14

star the baby will be ok, they wouldn't have sent you home to wait for another week if they were really worried, its more than there jobs worth. Don't really understand there comment saying "they don't have the facilities"?? If they were really concerned that something could happen to the baby in the next week they would have 'found' the facilities! More of a pain in the bum, being sent home and having to go back on a day thats not really appropriate for you. You will make yourself poorly if you keep worrying like this, you will need to be fit and strong in order to look after you newborn when he/she arrives. virtual hugs just for you{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}xx

jenwa · 21/08/2008 19:47

loulou sorry about your horrible time, fingers crossed all ok and for the future. It is scary though when you have to wait around for things and not know. I think we would all somehow like to have our babies now with the knowledge they are safe and well.

Star Try not to worry and remember not everyone measures accurate to what they should be and like Emmsy said, if they were concerned they would not make you wait that long.

People tell me different things about my bump, some say I am really big and others think I am tiny!!! I think its who you know and people know what you were like before and think its ok to say you are massive others get used to seeing it and not seeing it grow and say you are small. Its all peoples perception and what you happen to be wearing at the time and also you do expand as the day goes on.

Work are being lovely to me, I have 3 weeks left after this one and they tell me to go home when I have finished and not hang about etc and want me to be well. I do get tired though. Its strange as you get used to being at home with your child and planning your day then at work doing work stuff and wearing yourself out. I need to dry my hair and straighten it but have no energy now as shattered! Big hair 2mo!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/08/2008 19:55

Big hugs for loulou and star.

Happy Anniversary Ekka. It's my parents' 43rd one today too, and the anniversary of me and dh getting engaged.

Sambrads - how could you only have 5 weeks left yesterday when I had 6 and am only a day behind you?!

for still having a low placenta twinkly.

for £400 due to babywipe rowanmac.

Nothing much to report here. Quiet day (well, as quiet as poss with 2 teams of builders at work) at home except for taking dd for a hair cut. Had it cut shorter into more like a bob - she looks so grown up!

star and loulou good thoughts winging your way.

Sambrads sympathy+++ for the SPD, I've been really helped by a brace but most of my pain is in the big joint at the back.

rowanmac · 21/08/2008 20:13

oh I've remembered why I came on! Could you experienced Mumsnetters tell me how to post a question, maybe its hormone addled brain but i can't find it in how to get started.

I've got a tall skinny child who wriggles out of his car seat because the straps go round his shoulders now not over, not at all safe but mothercare won't sell me the next size because he only weighs 14.3kg and not the magic 15. Any thoughts yourselves but I was going to ask the wider world.

rowanmac - click on 'topic list' at the top, go into whichever topic you want to post your question in, and at the top of the list of existing threads it will say
'To create a new conversation in the "xxxxx" topic, go here'. Just click on the 'here' in that and you will be set to go!

Thanks everyone for the comfort. I just never realized that I could care about something SO much... I know it sounds silly, but it's so consuming. I wasn't even TTC, this was a surprise and we got used to it and now we're over the moon excited about it of course, but it's like ALL I care about... I feel like nothing else around me is as important as the baby being healthy. It feels quite selfish tbh but I can't help it!!!

rowanmac mothercare can deny you a sale for a carseat? Maybe you could say it's for your "other child" who is at home... or it's a gift for a friend? That's so silly that they won't sell it to you!!

luckymummy74 · 21/08/2008 21:21

emmsy1 Hiya!!
I have been thinking about you, you were so kind to post on the May thread when I had my DD2 (now 16 weeks old !)
Just wanted you to know that I hope all is well with you. Please let me know when you have your baby.

Luckymummy (previously GCG!!!)

jenwa · 21/08/2008 22:00

CSWS Wow, looks like its coming on well, at least its being done, more than I can say for my loft DH attempting to do it and trying to get 2 weeks off work but it is not looking good! really getting stressed now as I cant cope if not done, have no where to put baby or all the stuff!!!!!!!
Oh and your DD's hair, it looks lovely, really cute.

Emmsy1 · 21/08/2008 22:09

GoodCatholicGirl I've noted your new namelovely to hear from you can't believe your baby is already 16 weeks, you will have to let me know what thread your on now and I will let you know when my baby is born. Is your baby sleeping all night yet? thats one of things that I find hard, having to get up every few hours to feed the baby and it takes so long, and then still having to sort the others out for school,it will be worth it though, once I have got through those first 3 months, take care and thank you for looking me up!xxx

bethoo · 21/08/2008 22:15

star6 it is completely understandable that you feel this way. we are all thinking of you and i am sure that the baby will be fine. doctors have a way of making you feel like crap and worrying over nothing!

well i have done my hour on the cross trainer and am a bit of a sweaty mess! yum. really am concerned about the amount of fat accumulated on my once pert arse!

hope everyone is well and no doubt majority of you are tucked up in bed where i should be. bee na bit of a grumpy grouch today.

got a mud mask on so once that has dried i will be off to bed..

Emmsy1 · 21/08/2008 22:16

CSWS really don't know how you could cope with all that going on and expecting! it sends me into a shiver just nosing at it, and it's not even my house, thank god!
I agree, your daughter really is a cutie

bethoo · 22/08/2008 09:19

morning everyone, not feeling so bad today after training last night though will prob ache in a day or two! thank goodness it is the weekend!
at work and quiet, very little to do!
does anyone else when they wake up needing the loo find it painful like an intense pressure?

i would put up a pic of bump now but do not think i would fit on screen! i tend to balloon the few weeks before birth!

i am missing sex!!!

bethoo If I wake needing the loo I have to go straight away. I had terrible pain walking at the hospital yesterday, I had to sneak into a different dept to use their loo before walking onto the ante natal unit. It really really hurts.

As for sex we do try but it is getting more and more difficult, bump is certainly getting in the way now and makes me feel less attractive. You maybe missing it for different reasons tho

bethoo · 22/08/2008 09:33

i dont think i know anyone who measured spot on throughout the whole pregnancy either star6.
i am measuring small by a week this week. last week it was 2. my friend on the ohter hand i must admit looks like i will when i drop, but then she carries alot of water she says and her fundal height could easily be over 35cm and she is only 26 weeks and her dd was 6lbs at birth. so it just goes to show like mjim says that everyone carries differently. remember the saying every pregnancy and labour is different.

bethoo · 22/08/2008 09:36

true the only way for sex these days is spooning. though still feel like a beached whale..

i looked on net and sex toys are ok, only not advised to use if known to have prem babies/complications. so i may get one this weekend.

07mumstheword · 22/08/2008 09:38

myjob no fuss as you don't want it congrats on laid back attitude.

I've been scanned and checked for a big baby this week and the sonographer actually admitted to me that any weight estimates are quite inaccurate but measurements of head and tummy show accurately and this is what they go by. She explained that babies can have skinny or chubby thighs for example and there is just no way of telling.

That could explain why I have heard so much about people being told they are having big/small babies but when they are born have had the total opposite of what they were told to expect.

sambrads · 22/08/2008 09:49

cantsleepwontsleep if you read my post again it says i have 5 FULL WEEKS left ! the days dont matter to me as its the weeks that seem to be falling quickly ie by next wednesday i will have 4 full weeks left and 6 days its my way of counting it .

mumstheword i to have that uncomfortable felling when walking and needing the loo its hard work haha

bethoo sex is totally out of the question for me as i cant lie sit or even open my legs but if i go over this time again i will have to make the effort
